Genshin Impact Walkthrough – Chapter 1 Act 3: A New Star Approaches

After enjoying some downtime with Zhongli at the restaurant, it’s time to honor your invitation to Ningguang’s Jade Chamber, located above Mt. Tianheng. Teleport to the Sea of Clouds waypoint just west of Liyue Harbor (if you have it), then fly across and climb the roots up the mountain to trigger a cutscene. Once the cutscene ends, continue up the mountain and use Anemo to spin the pinwheel.

Ride the current and use the boosters to reach a platform that triggers another cutscene, during which Paimon suggests launching you to the palace using the newly repaired ballista. Rejecting that idea and noting the lack of binoculars in Teyvat, you’ll instead use the scope of the war weapon to scout a route upward. Glide back to the mountain, then off the other side to reach the ballista, where you’ll encounter Millelith guards, preparing for a three-wave showdown.

After the battle, Keqing will make her entrance. As a member of the Liyue Qixing, she provides some insight into Ningguang’s request for your presence. She believes Ningguang simply wants you to avoid siding completely with the Adepti regarding the ongoing conflict surrounding Rex Lapis. One important detail is that Ningguang expects a greeting gift, so you’ll need to find one. Paimon dreams of Sugar-Frosted Slime, which seems to be the ideal gift.

You’ll be instructed to gather three ingredients, but only two locations will be marked on your map. Defeat the Hydro Slime to obtain the first ingredient, and the second location will trigger another cutscene. Defeat the Treasure Hoarders there and use the Cage Key they drop to free Meng Dan, who turns out to be a supplier for Mingxing Jewelry in Liyue Harbor. Paimon asks him for a gift box as your second ingredient, while the third ingredient is a Sweet Flower located near the tree beside you. Head to Liyue Harbor to collect the gift box. Combine the ingredients to create the snack, and you’ll be ready for your meeting with Ningguang.

Getting to the Jade Chamber is ultimately easier than it appears. As Keqing mentioned, return to Liyue Harbor and find the guide at Yuehai Pavilion, with Paimon stepping in for the actual recipe. Go to Dunyu Ruins to gather the ingredients. Then, make your way back to the Rite of Parting location, climb the steps to the building ahead, and speak with Bu’yun on the left. He is the guide you need to take you up to see Ningguang.

After a cutscene, talk to Ningguang again to trigger another scene in which she discusses the Archon War, which led to the surviving seven gods becoming the current archons of Teyvat. Once she finishes, go through the Jade Chamber doors. Drop down a floor, move straight ahead, and interact with Ningguang again. Then, interact with the map on the board to the right, and you’ll be prompted to check out the marked spot. Teleport to the waypoint near the ruins in the Sea of Clouds to reach it quickly.

Before engaging the Fatui fighters below, check your team’s elemental composition. There are many elemental shields in play, so it’s crucial to have a diverse team, especially with Hydro and Electro characters. Defeat them and interact with the stack of goods on the wooden crate. With evidence mounting regarding Childe’s involvement in Rex Lapis’s assassination, head northwest to meet Zhongli at Dihua Marsh, who will ask you to collect Glaze Lilies needed for the Rite of Parting.

Complete that task and prepare to fight three Cryo Whopperflowers. Ganyu will then appear to explain more about the timeline of the archons and reveal herself as an Adeptus. She’ll give you a Glaze Lily, completing your preparations for the Rite of Parting. Return to Liyue Harbor.

It turns out the Adepti are taking action, and the Qixing are already on their way to stall them. Things are heating up in Liyue Harbor, so seek out Childe at the Golden House south of the city. Get ready for a tough battle. Although the recommended level is 35, this fight scales with your World Level, making it potentially the hardest battle in the game right now. It’s a long one too, so check out our separate guide on how to defeat Childe.

After a challenging fight with Childe, he’ll deliver a monologue and summon the Lord of Vortex, pinned by Rex Lapis’s Geo spears in Guyun Stone Forest. Once you exit the Golden House, you’ll be thrust into battle against this serpent beast that threatens Liyue Harbor.

The fight occurs on the floating Jade Chamber, where the Adepti are present after their summit with Ningguang. With your team’s help, three ballistae will be summoned on a platform ahead to bombard the boss. You won’t deal damage to the creature yourself; instead, you must protect the ballistae from waves of Fatui forces attempting to dismantle them, which is crucial to Childe’s plan to lure out the presumably revived Rex Lapis.

The fight involves dealing with enemies spawning near each ballista. As you progress, you’ll receive the powers of individual Adepti to aid in battle, and eventually, all their abilities will come into effect at once. Defeat the final wave of Fatui forces, and a cutscene will play where Ningguang makes a sacrifice to defeat the vortex god.

Once you regain control of your character, it’s time to check on Zhongli. Head back to the funeral parlor, where you’ll find him at the Fatui-owned Northland Bank. Paimon is concerned, so off you go.

At this point, numerous shocking revelations occur, so pay close attention. After the dialogue, head out the door and up to Yujing Terrace. Speak with the locals gossiping around the plaza, then talk to the guard at the entrance to the pavilion to hear the Qixing’s excuse for Rex Lapis’s apparent demise, and then proceed to the Rite of Parting.

When you regain control, talk to Ningguang, Ganyu, and Keqing once more. Go to the balcony for a final lengthy interaction with Zhongli, where you can learn everything you can from this last Q&A session. Once you tell him you’ve heard enough, Chapter One, Act Three: A New Star Approaches will conclude. If you’ve set the Traveler to Geo and purchased the Geo Sigil from the shop, you should now have the final item for their Constellation. This marks the end of the Genshin Impact 1.1 Archon storyline.
