This is Part 1 of a complete, hand-checked Escape Simulator walkthrough covering the full base game plus every DLC. Each solution below is cross-verified across the major community guides — the Steam 100% walkthrough by luckz & Lilly, the Walkthrough Wiki, and The Walkthrough King — with official details from the game's Steam store page. Escape Simulator's rooms are hand-built and fixed (never randomized), so every code here is the same in your game. Nothing is invented; for the “arrange it until it looks right” puzzles, the embedded video shows the exact positions fastest.
What is Escape Simulator?
Escape Simulator is a first-person escape-room game by Pine Studio, released October 19, 2021 for about $19.99. You can play solo or in online co-op, and the whole appeal is how physical it is: you pick up and rotate almost everything, drag furniture around, smash pots, pry open chests and shoot off locks. On top of the four base chapters and eight free bonus rooms, it ships with a level editor and Steam Workshop holding thousands of community rooms.
This series walks every official room in order, with the fixed codes, the full solve sequence, and the location of all 8 hidden tokens in each room. Part 1 sets up the controls, the achievements and the token strategy you'll reuse everywhere, then covers the Tutorial and the first chapter, the Labyrinth of Egypt.
The toolkit: controls every room assumes you know
- Examine and rotate. Click to pick an item up, then inspect it to enter a close-up view where you can rotate it, open lids, slide latches and pull pins. A huge number of clues only read correctly from one angle — turn everything over.
- Throw (smash): hold left mouse and release, or tap T, to throw what you're holding. This breaks vases, pots and glass panels and is how several achievements are earned.
- Drop fast: spam Q to dump items quickly.
- Zoom: middle mouse zooms your view — needed for a few “look closely” tokens and gag achievements.
- The 15-minute trophy. Beat a room in under 15 minutes to earn its trophy. Collect all five trophies in a chapter for that chapter's Escapist achievement — so do a fast, guide-assisted run for trophies, then a relaxed second run for tokens.
- “Stay” after escaping. When the exit unlocks, choose Stay to keep hunting tokens; a couple of tokens in some rooms only become reachable after the door is open.
Achievements: how the list is structured
Knowing the three buckets saves a lot of backtracking.
General achievements (earn anywhere)
| Achievement | How | Best spot |
|---|---|---|
| Escape Room / Escape Together | Finish any room solo / in co-op. | Tutorial |
| First in Collection | Grab any one token. | Tutorial |
| Good Throw | Throw any object across a room. | Anywhere |
| Pockets With Holes | Drop 10 items within 5 seconds (spam Q). | Anywhere with 10+ items |
| Cleaner | Put every item in the room into the trash can. | Tutorial |
| Destroyer | Break every breakable object in a room. | Egypt: First Chamber |
| Clumsy Escapist | Break 7 objects within 5 seconds. | Egypt: Gold Chamber (vases) |
| Great Tower | Stack objects into a tower. | The Library (100+ books); or drop items on a leaning beam in Egypt: First Chamber |
| Break Out | Throw an object outside the level boundary. | Egypt: The Top (roll the flask off the light-pillar side); or out the window in Lost Spirits |
| Make it yourself | Create and save a room in the level editor. | Main menu → Workshop → Create |
Note: the community guides flag that Pine Studio occasionally adjusts achievement logic (Great Tower in particular has been reworked), so if a trick doesn't pop, try the alternate spot listed.
Completionism
Each base chapter has an “Escapist” (all five 15-minute trophies) and a “Collector” (all 40 tokens) achievement — Egypt, Space and Victorian (Mansion). Level-specific achievements are called out in each room below.
Token-hunting strategy (works in every room)
Tokens are gold coins tucked into the scenery. Eight per room is the standard. A repeatable sweep:
- Look up, look under, look behind. Ceilings, undersides of furniture (drag or knock it over with physics), and the backs of statues/cabinets hide a large share of tokens.
- Finish the puzzles first. Several tokens only appear once a chest/compartment opens or the exit unlocks — so escape, then press Stay and sweep.
- Break and dig. Some are inside vases, cans, soil (use a trowel/shovel) or behind glass you must smash.
- Use the tools you already found. Brushes reveal sand-buried tokens, lighters light hidden ones, magnets/UV lamps expose others.

Tutorial — the kid's bedroom
The opening room teaches pick-up, inspect and use. In the current version you wake in a child's bedroom; collect the jigsaw pieces and build the picture to make the exit key.
- Open the wardrobe with code 247 (hint: press the button on the desk lamp).
- Take the small square tile from inside and slot it into the top of the mysterious toy in the wardrobe (Token 8 sits on the toy).
- Open the green chest with code 5634 (the route from the police station to the hospital on the toy traffic mat).
- Gather all jigsaw pieces (under the bed pillow, the nightstand top drawer, the desk, inside the green chest, inside the wardrobe) and assemble them on the wooden box on the desk to form the exit key.
This nets Escape Room (finish solo), Escape Together (in co-op) and First in Collection (first token). The 8 tokens: on the carpet in front of the bed; behind the trash can; in the bird cage outside the window; on the mouse toy in the bottom drawer of the blue dresser; on the basketball in the basket atop the wardrobe; park either toy car on the parking-sign square so it drives under the bed and returns with a token; revealed after pinning all six tutorial pages to the wall board; and on the mysterious toy.
(If your tutorial is the older “rocket and dinosaur” bedroom, the goal is simpler: take the winding key from under the bed pillow, wind the blue car, take the door key from inside it, and use it on the door. The 8 tokens are on the dino poster, under the rocket's wing, in the wall map, by the window, at the foot of the bed, under the blue car, under the blue chair, and inside a block on the top shelf.)
Labyrinth of Egypt
This chapter leans on three real-world reading systems: Egyptian numerals (strokes for ones, arches for tens, coils for hundreds, lotus for thousands), hieroglyph symbols, and a balance scale for working out weights. Keep that in mind and the “codes” stop feeling arbitrary.
1. First Chamber
Open the suitcase and take the brush and the red Egyptology 101 book. Brush the sand off the stone box on the floor; the book lets you read the Egyptian numerals, which add up to 3426. Enter 3426 on the red wall dials, take the key, and open the stone box for a pyramidion piece (sliding the lid breaks a vase that holds a second piece).
Take the Sphinx off the central pillar. Press the hand symbol on the wall right of the door, place the Sphinx in the opening (it turns gold and shows a water symbol), then place the golden Sphinx in the water basin. Collect the pyramidion piece from the basin and another from the ground in front of it, arrange all 4 pieces on the central pillar, and take the door key.
The three doors are mazes — trace each path and set the dials to the symbols you cross:
- Door A: lion, pot stand, stool, hand.
- Door B: the blue book shows bee = “bjt”; the matching glyphs are foot, cobra, bread loaf.
- Door C: the last door key opens the exit.
Achievements: break both vases for Destroyer; rest something on a leaning wooden beam for Great Tower.
8 tokens: fill the flask with water and look inside; nudge the hanging pots so one drops; in the right bird statue's beak; on the left bird's back after setting dials to 2263 (the blue book's cover); in the basin after dropping a coin in; under a flat stone near the exit; between the corner stones after splitting them with the shovel; and at the base of the central pillar after brushing the sand.
2. Chamber of Dead
Open the scroll by the scales for a key → unlock the floor stone box → reveals a baboon-headed lid. Copy the plaque pattern (held by the two standing sarcophagi) onto the plaque beneath the scales; the main sarcophagus opens — put the heart in the jackal's right hand. Pry the standing sarcophagi open with the crowbar, then press the box buttons matching their three symbols: lion, beetle, feathers → human-headed lid.
This is the balance-scale puzzle: weigh the three numbered black balls against the three hieroglyph red balls to learn each red ball's value, then set the wall dials above the matching glyphs — Owl 6, Water 2, Cobra 4 — and flip the latch for the jackal-headed lid.
Place the compass in the middle of the floor to find north, read the note in the jackal's left hand, then move each canopic jar (correct lid on correct organ) to the right floor panel:
- Baboon lid — lungs — North
- Jackal lid — stomach — East
- Human lid — liver — South
- Falcon lid — intestines — West
Take the feather from the opened floor and place it in the jackal's left hand to finish.
8 tokens: the hieroglyph strip below the ceiling above the big box; inside the left scroll on the top shelf; in the sand behind the bottom-shelf scroll; under the hanging pot right of the sarcophagi; behind the top of the right standing sarcophagus (after the crowbar); on the ceiling seen through the roof opening; in the sand inside the bottom wooden box (crowbar); and in the small gap left of the weight dials.
3. Gold Chamber
Throw the pickaxe at the cracked vase for a golden artifact. Pull the moving chest from the wall, remove the pin, grab the chest key (crouch), open the other chest for a second artifact. Around the moving chest are three pairs of circled symbols — set the wall dials so each pair sits adjacent:
- Top dials: pot stand & vulture
- Middle dials: foot & owl
- Bottom dials: basket & lion
Take the next key, open the moving chest for a third artifact, then count the gold balls inside the three pyramids and set the triangle dials to 3, 8, 7 (large, medium, small). For the rotating-disc puzzle, count the gem colours from the chest: Blue 2, White 5, Red 3. Pull the two levers to match the jackal statues (left to the bottom, right to second-from-top), then drop all 5 artifacts in the fire bowl.
Achievement: pick up and quickly smash 7 vases for Clumsy Escapist.
8 tokens: inside the radio tuned to 97 MHz; inside the bean can by the disc puzzle; on the back of the smaller chest; on the bottom of the large pyramid; in the ceiling hieroglyphs above the fire bowl; in the right hand of the fire-bowl statue; on the left of the level timer; and inside the rotating-disc puzzle once it opens.
4. Chamber of Danger
Take the pickaxe and blue ball. Set the diorama per the notepad in three phases (camel, scorpion, sun positions) to drop a red ball. Place the floor pyramid into the wall slot and set the dials to the missing glyphs — rope, owl, feather, foot — for a gold ball. At the lighting statues, press the button, watch which light, then press in order 3, 4, 1, 5, 2 for a black ball. Put the four balls in the holders in order black, red, yellow, blue, then place the mirror in the floor and solve the spinning-disc maze from the outside ring in.
Achievement: drag the skull into a fire for Uber Skull.
8 tokens: among the coins at a fire pillar's base; on the crawling beetle; inside the skull; under the diorama sun's top arrow; in the wall beneath the ball holders (pickaxe); in the recess where the gold ball was; behind the right ball holder; and left of the bird statue.
5. The Top
The finale is one big arrange-by-sight puzzle — the video is the fastest reference, but the fixed parts are:
- Light beam: aim the podium beam to light the 5 pillars in the field.
- Central glass-ball device: first set the top-to-bottom symbols to owl, pot stand, basket (take the knob → pyramid-height puzzle: 2nd-tallest, 3rd-tallest, shortest, tallest), then to pot stand, pot stand, lion (second knob → statuette puzzle, match the distant statues' positions and facing).
- Sliding stone plates (left to right): obelisk, stepped pyramid, triangle-with-path, Sphinx, obelisk.
- Constellation pillars: match the four sky constellations — facing the plates puzzle press top-left and bottom-right; facing the other way press top-left and bottom-right again.
Finishing under 15 minutes across all five rooms earns Egypt Escapist, and all 40 tokens earns Egypt Collector.
8 tokens: beneath the statuette-puzzle platform; in the sand behind it; on the left distant statue's head-wear; behind a fire plate right of the pyramid puzzle; in the unlit fire plate after lighting it; on the rotating pyramid holding the yellow gem; on the base of the nearest field pillar; and near the left of the low platform behind the plates puzzle.
Frequently asked questions
How long is Escape Simulator?
The base game's four chapters (20 rooms) run roughly 8–12 hours at a relaxed pace; each room is about 20–40 minutes blind, or under 15 for the trophy. The Extra rooms and nine DLC packs add many more hours.
Can I play it solo?
Yes — every room is fully solvable alone. Co-op simply adds a second pair of hands; the only co-op-specific moments are a few “one player holds a lever while the other acts” steps, which solo players do sequentially.
Are the codes the same for everyone?
Yes. Escape Simulator's official rooms are hand-authored and fixed, so the codes in this guide (Tutorial 247 / 5634, Egypt 3426, weights Owl 6 / Water 2 / Cobra 4, pyramids 3-8-7, gems 2-5-3, and so on) are constant in every playthrough.
What's the fastest way to all 40 Egypt tokens?
Do a quick trophy run for Egypt Escapist first, then replay each room with Stay enabled and sweep using the per-room token lists above — a few tokens (rotating-disc puzzle, basin, opened wooden box) only appear after you've solved or opened something.
Do I need every DLC?
No. The four base chapters and the eight free Extra rooms are plenty on their own. The DLC packs (Steampunk, Wild West, Portal, Among Us, Magic, PowerWash, Talos Principle, Mayan, Spy) are optional add-ons — each is covered in its own part of this series.
Next: Part 2 — Adrift in Space. You can find the game on its official Steam page.
