Resident Evil Requiem is best approached as a full campaign walkthrough, not as a single puzzle answer page. The story alternates between Grace Ashcroft’s slower survival-horror routes and Leon S. Kennedy’s heavier combat chapters, then asks you to keep track of files, Mr. Raccoon memoriam figures, coins, safes, charms, BSAA containers, Plant 43 seedlings, endings, and challenge-run trophies. This guide gives you the clean route through the campaign and highlights the places where a normal first run can quietly lose completion progress.
Spoiler warning: this walkthrough names regions, playable-character switches, puzzle solutions, safe codes, collectible counts, boss goals, the ending choice, and late-game cleanup systems. It avoids retelling every cutscene, but it is written for players who want to finish the game efficiently.

Best Route Before You Start
The safest first playthrough is a completion-aware story run. Do not try to speedrun, do not skip files because they look like flavor text, and do not assume that a later cleanup chapter will let you return everywhere. Several collectibles are tied to specific Grace or Leon windows, and at least one Raccoon City warning before the orphanage makes it clear that you should keep a separate save before moving forward.
- Make rotating manual saves. Keep one save at the start of each major region and one before every obvious point of no return. If you play Standard Classic or Insanity, treat ink ribbons as route resources rather than decoration.
- Read files after picking them up. The file total matters for completion, and some notes are also the legitimate source for safe codes, wristband routes, organ-box steps, or optional clue chains.
- Let Grace play quietly. Grace can fight, but her best tools are light, bottles, blood crafting, lockpicks, item boxes, and timing. Do not burn Requiem revolver rounds or med injectors because you are impatient.
- Let Leon clean combat spaces. Leon can parry, use dropped weapons, upgrade firearms, and buy from supply boxes. When a Leon route overlaps a future Grace route, clearing enemies can make the later return much safer.
- Spend Antique Coins before leaving Rhodes Hill. Updated collectible references track 23 coins, while some chapter pages still describe the first one as part of a 22-coin set. Either way, buy the Hip Pouch first, then health/firepower upgrades before the Care Center closes behind you.
- Open every safe as Grace. There are five main-story safes tied to the No Safe is Safe trophy/achievement. Insanity changes the combinations, so use the difficulty-aware table below.
- Plan multiple runs for 100%. A full first run can gather the route collectibles, but platinum/100% planning also involves difficulty clears, a four-hour release-Elpis run, no-heal and no-blood-collector challenges, credits, models, concept art, and New Game+ routing.
Campaign Order At A Glance
The campaign moves through four large blocks: Wrenwood, Rhodes Hill, Raccoon City, and ARK. The table below is the route I would keep beside your save file. It is not every door instruction; it is the decision layer that prevents missed tools and late backtracking.
| Region | Playable Character | Main Goal | Completion Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wrenwood Hotel | Grace | Investigate the hotel, reach Room 204, recover Alyssa’s hidden item, and escape. | Start file tracking immediately. The Wrenwood City Guide, hotel files, floor plan, journal, old key, wire cutters, emergency exit key, and disk set up the mystery. |
| Wrenwood Streets | Leon | Chase Victor through the outbreak and learn Leon’s combat kit. | Practice parries, melee finishers, and throwing enemy-dropped weapons. The Victor Gideon report is automatic. |
| Rhodes Hill arrival | Grace, then Leon | Escape the dark ward, learn the Girl’s light weakness, and let Leon enter the Care Center. | Get the first coin, Cherub Key, lighter, screwdriver, fuse, and early files. Bright rooms are safe zones against the Girl. |
| Care Center quartz route | Grace | Collect Moon, Sun, and Star Quartz through the west wing, east wing, parlor, lab, and isolation ward. | This is the biggest missable hub: coins, files, Mr. Raccoons, lockpick drawers, safe codes, blood specimens, wristbands, charms, and Grace upgrades live here. |
| Care Center attic | Leon | Survive the Chunk fight, get the shotgun, and open routes Grace cannot safely clear alone. | Leon cannot solve Grace puzzles or collect coins/blood, but he can collect Leon-only files, the Compensator, Pantry Key, and a Mr. Raccoon. |
| Care Center basement | Grace | Restore power with Joint Plugs, open the basement safe, survive Processing, and recover the final quartz. | Track the two basement Mr. Raccoons, the basement files, Forklift Key, Square Socket Wrench, Hip Pouch, Molotov recipe, and the wall safe. |
| Courtyard and Water Treatment Plant | Grace, Leon support | Escort Emily, expose the private lab, escape the facility, and use floodlight/sunlight pressure against the Girl. | Before the quartz door, spend coins, collect reachable Care Center files, drain blood resources, and make a separate save. |
| East Raccoon City | Leon | Navigate the ruined city, find detonator parts, open BSAA containers, and defeat the Titan Spinner route boss. | Get the BSAA Container Key, return for all three containers, track Mr. Raccoons 11-19, and collect the Raccoon City incident files. |
| Raccoon City Center and RPD | Leon | Search RPD, solve the STARS briefcase clue, handle Tyrant pressure, and head toward the orphanage. | Use code RRR for the STARS briefcase, complete Barry’s scavenger route, collect the RPD files, and keep a save before the orphanage point of no return. |
| Orphanage and the chasm | Grace, then Leon | Push through the orphanage route, then clear the Plant 43 seedling sequence. | There are 9 Plant 43 seedlings. One is mandatory in the train sequence; the other 8 are in the lower chasm route and can be missed if you run past them. |
| ARK entrance | Leon | Enter the ARK facility, fight armed enemies, and defeat the Commander-style boss. | Use the white gas canisters for visibility control, gather ARK files, and get Mr. Raccoon 24 before pushing deeper. |
| Lower ARK | Grace, then Leon | Use acid, licker stealth, Override/Magnetic Keys, orbs, and final archive access to reach the ending route. | Open the Sterilization and Monitor Control safes, collect the final files, and do not touch the central archive console until the right-side terminal file is logged. |
| Finale | Leon | Make the Elpis choice, fight Victor’s final forms, and roll credits. | Choose Destroy first only if you want the bad ending scene, then reload or continue to Release Elpis for the completion path and Hope and Requiem clear. |

Wrenwood Walkthrough
Grace’s opening is linear, but it teaches the rule that matters for the rest of the game: look at small environmental objects before you follow the objective marker. Pick up the Wrenwood City Guide near the early street route, investigate the hotel access path, and read the investigation report when the game prompts you. In the hotel, the old key is taped behind a photograph connected to Room 204. From there, collect the Hotel Pamphlet, Notice of Closure, Wrenwood Hotel Floor Plan, and wire cutters before cutting into the sealed second-floor route.
Room 204 is the story pivot. Search the photos, play through the flashback, then return to the lobby painting to recover Alyssa’s wallet, journal, and disk. Once the escape sequence begins, collect the emergency exit key and fire poker, then leave through the emergency exit door. The important completion habit is simple: files are not optional flavor here. The full file route begins in Wrenwood, and every later area assumes you are already checking desks, drawers, frames, radios, reports, and tucked-away notes.
Leon’s first Wrenwood segment is your combat tutorial. Aim for controlled shots, use melee follow-ups when enemies stagger, and learn the hatchet parry window against the axe-wielding infected. If an enemy drops a weapon, throw it into another target for an early achievement/trophy setup. The chapter ends by pointing Leon toward Rhodes Hill, but the skill it wants you to keep is timing: Leon is safest when you parry, counter, reposition, and spend ammo on weak points rather than panic-firing into crowds.
Rhodes Hill Care Center
Rhodes Hill is the heart of Resident Evil Requiem’s puzzle design. It has two overlapping routes: Grace’s stealth/investigation route and Leon’s combat cleanup route. The first Grace section begins with a fuse hunt and introduces the Girl, who will not enter brightly lit rooms. In the dark ward, collect the Progress Notes, Cherub Key, lighter, screwdriver, fuse, and the first Antique Coin. Room 202’s note points you to the screwdriver location, but the real lesson is that noisy actions can summon danger. Move carts, climb lockers, and return to lit rooms with a plan.
When the full Care Center opens, treat the security room as your hub. It has a save point, item storage, the Care Center Pamphlet, and clue language for the three-symbol quartz door. Grace must collect the Moon, Sun, and Star Quartz to leave. The west wing route gives you the West Wing Keycard, sends you past the Chef, and leads through the dining room, bar, Chairman’s Office, and Parlor. The Moon Quartz puzzle uses the sequence Moon, Sun, Star, Moon, revealed by shading the Chairman’s notebook with the pencil.
The Parlor is not just a side room. It is where you turn Antique Coins into survival. Buy the Hip Pouch first because inventory space is more valuable than a small stat bump, then buy Steroids, Stabiliser, and the Override Manual as your coin route allows. The Red Jewel opens the Parlor, and the East Wing Keycard is on the severed arm in that room. Do not leave the west wing without checking the bar safe, piano/roulette/table coins, relevant files, and nearby lockpick drawers.
The east wing adds the Blood Collector, specimens, analysis puzzles, wristbands, the Organ Transport Box, and more open-ended routing. Your first specimen unlocks Handgun Ammo and Hemolytic Injector crafting. The Converged and Reversible specimens later unlock stronger health and ammo recipes. Use blood pools and downed infected to keep crafting resources topped up, but remember that one late challenge asks for a no-blood-collector run, so save that restriction for a separate playthrough.
The Sun Quartz route runs through the Lead Researcher’s Office, the Level 1 Wristband, Custodian’s Office, Wrench, garage, Artificial Heart, Ward Office, Conference Room, Corrosive Bottle, and Organ Transport Box. The Sun Quartz puzzle uses Star, Sun, Moon, Sun. The organ box sequence is Hand, raise the right slide switch halfway, last yellow switch down, second yellow switch down, Auto. The Level 2 Wristband comes after placing the lungs in the examination body. The Star Quartz route then uses the Level 2 and Level 3 areas, Emily’s help, and the Security Manager’s braille machine.
Leon’s attic interlude is easy to under-value because Grace owns most of the Care Center puzzle route. Do not rush it. Pick up the MSBG 500 Shotgun before the Chunk fight, use the arena structure to stagger and punish him, then collect the Compensator and equip it. Leon can get the Pantry Key by defeating the Chef, collect Leon-only files, and make Grace’s later path safer by removing threats. However, he cannot collect Antique Coins, solve Grace’s quartz machines, or gather blood, so do not use him as your only cleanup pass.
Grace’s basement section is about Joint Plugs and controlled fear. The route asks you to move plugs between panels, open new rooms, avoid or disable threats, find the Square Socket Wrench, move the forklift, and survive the Processing/grinder section. The basement wall safe uses the Furnace/Basement combination in the safe table below and rewards the Raccoon Roundup Map for Rhodes Hill. Before leaving the basement, confirm the two basement Mr. Raccoons, the basement files, the Forklift Key, the Hip Pouch, and the Molotov recipe.
The courtyard and water-treatment escape are your last Rhodes Hill cleanup warning. Before you slot the three quartz pieces into the central door, return to the Care Center rooms you can still access. Spend coins, buy upgrades, collect blood, check files, and make a separate manual save. After that, the route becomes a guided escape through the VIP suite, private lab, research facility, helicopter key, self-destruct sequence, water-treatment plant, and the final confrontation with the Girl using light and environmental exposure. If a file or bobblehead was still in the Care Center, assume you may need an older save.

Raccoon City Walkthrough
Raccoon City is Leon’s big cleanup zone. On arrival, pick up the automatic incident report and nearby newspaper file, then move through the ruined streets toward the central camp. Your main task is to assemble detonator parts and open the route into RPD, but the completion layer is larger than that: Mr. Raccoons 11-19 are spread across East Raccoon City, the BSAA containers require a story key plus backtracking, and several files are easy to pass because combat pressure keeps pushing you forward.
When you obtain the BSAA Container Key, do not wait until the game has already swept you into the next region. Open all three containers:
- Container 1: near the car-filled road past the gas station, reached by looping around and dropping from the red container.
- Container 2: in the Central Camp; this one is story-facing and hard to miss.
- Container 3: back near the beginning, outside the hotel. You need gas from the gas station, the generator route near the crater, and the construction/train tunnel shortcut to return.
The Titan Spinner fight rewards methodical play. Use canisters and stun tools to expose the weak point, then spend stronger weapons when the opening is clear. Do not waste Requiem rounds on shots you cannot guarantee. After the city route, RPD becomes a dense nostalgia-and-collectible section. Grab the R.P.D. Perimeter Report, Top Secret Operation file, Record of Events, S.T.A.R.S. office clues, Library Card, Barry’s To Do List, and the related photograph. The STARS armory briefcase code is RRR, which rewards the Power Shades Charm. Barry’s scavenger route also leads to the locker key and S.T.A.R.S. Emblem Charm.
After RPD, keep one save before entering the orphanage path. A later Raccoon City Center continuation warning says you will not be able to come back past the orphanage route. That matters for Mr. Raccoon 23, the Cute Bear Charm in the parking garage area, the Tyrant fight arena supplies, and the Plant 43 seedling route after the orphanage. For the seedlings, kill the first plant in the train sequence, then kill the remaining eight in the lower chasm. One can be skipped by taking the wrong path too quickly, so clear the left branch before you commit to the final descent.
ARK And Finale
ARK shifts the game into late Resident Evil territory: armed enemies, bioweapon rooms, lickers, gas canisters, archives, and final story revelations. Leon’s ARK entrance has a staff room save point, the N0-AH Status Report, a Mr. Raccoon behind crates, and the guest-lounge product/research files. Use white gas canisters to disrupt line of sight against smarter armed enemies, but do not blind yourself without a retreat path. The Commander-style boss is a spacing fight: read his axe/knife strings, punish after committed attacks, and use heavy weapons only when he is exposed.
Grace’s Lower ARK section asks for restraint. Lickers are blind and react to sound, so crouch, avoid glass/debris, and use empty bottles or acid to group enemies when you can eliminate multiple threats at once. Get the Override Key to move the crane, then take the Magnetic Key from the control room panel. The locked red Archives Room needs two orbs: the white Noblesse Orb from the Operations Room and the red Animus Orb from the locked blue-door room. Before opening the archives, open both ARK safes and collect the ARK files.
The most important Lower ARK completion check is the Archives Room. Once the door opens, inspect the side terminal for Access Log: First Assembly Minutes before using the central terminal that pushes the story forward. Then proceed into the final Leon route. At the ending choice, choose Destroy Elpis first only if you want to see the bad ending branch. For the completion path, choose Release Elpis. The final boss asks you to destroy obvious weak spots, survive Victor’s second form, and use your strongest weapons when the fight gives you a clean damage window.

Safe Codes And Puzzle Solutions
Safe dial notation can be confusing because some guides write the direction you turn the dial while others use arrow symbols. The table below uses plain directions: Left and Right. Insanity difficulty changes the five safe combinations, so do not reuse Standard codes there.
| Lock Or Puzzle | Standard / Casual / Modern | Insanity | Reward Or Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chairman’s Office quartz machine | Moon, Sun, Star, Moon | Same puzzle clue route | Moon Quartz |
| Lead Researcher’s quartz machine | Star, Sun, Moon, Sun | Same puzzle clue route | Sun Quartz |
| Security Manager braille machine | Bring Emily to read/operate it | Same route | Star Quartz story sequence |
| Organ Transport Box | Hand, right slide halfway, last yellow down, second yellow down, Auto | Same box route | Artificial Lungs |
| Bar and Lounge safe | Left 10, Right 80, Left 30 | Right 20, Left 50, Right 30 | Antique Coins |
| Waiting Room safe | Left 10, Right 80, Left 30 | Use the matching difficulty clue if changed | Antique Coins |
| Examination Room safe | Right 30, Left 10, Right 50 | Left 50, Right 30, Left 90 | Antique Coins |
| Care Center Basement / Furnace safe | Right 60, Left 40, Right 80 | Left 70, Right 50, Left 20 | Raccoon Roundup Map and supplies |
| ARK Sterilization Chamber safe | Right 10, Left 90, Right 20 | Left 80, Right 50, Left 0 | Molotov Cocktail, Med Injector, Handgun Ammo |
| ARK Monitor Control Room safe | Left 50, Right 60, Left 80 | Right 20, Left 0, Right 70 | Late ARK supplies and safe completion |
| STARS armory briefcase | RRR | Same clue route | Power Shades Charm |
Collectible And Cleanup Checklist
Resident Evil Requiem is generous about story progress, but not about completion memory. Use this checklist before each region transition.
| Category | Verified Count / Scope | Cleanup Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Files | 75 main-story files | All are effectively missable because the campaign moves between areas. Read them as you pick them up. |
| Mr. Raccoon memoriam figures | 25 | Listen for the sound cue. They begin in the Care Center and continue through Raccoon City and ARK. |
| Antique Coins | 23 in the updated database references; some chapter text still says 22 | Grace finds them in Rhodes Hill. Spend them before leaving the Care Center route. |
| BSAA Containers | 3 | All are in East Raccoon City. Backtrack for the hotel-side container after the gas/generator route opens the shortcut. |
| Plant 43 Seedlings | 9 | Kill the first in the train sequence and the other eight after rappelling into the lower chasm. |
| Charms | 9 non-Deluxe charms in the referenced charm list | Grace and Leon charms are not interchangeable. Leon’s RPD and BSAA charm routes are easy to skip. |
| Safes | 5 main safes, plus the repeated waiting-room use | Grace opens the safe route. Insanity uses different combinations, so keep difficulty-specific notes. |
| Steam achievements / console trophies | 49 Steam achievements; console trophy lists include a 50th platinum-style trophy | Plan multiple runs for Insanity, four-hour release-Elpis, no healing, no blood collector, models, art, and credit purchases. |
Achievement And Trophy Planning
The cleanest 100% plan is three layers. First, do a careful Standard or Casual completion route: collect files, Mr. Raccoons, coins, safes, BSAA containers, seedlings, and simple combat trophies such as parry, dropped-weapon throw, weapon upgrade, supply-box purchase, and common story bosses. Second, use New Game+ and bonus purchases to handle challenge rules: no healing, no blood collector, speedrun, and credit-based model/concept-art cleanup. Third, tackle Insanity once you understand routing and have any unlocks you intend to use.
Several trophies are easy to forget during a normal run:
- The Ol’ Fashioned Way: requires using an ink ribbon at a typewriter, so it is tied to Classic-style saving rather than a pure Modern/Casual run.
- Road Rage: shoot Victor during the motorcycle attack window when the warning appears.
- Bang For Your Buck: line up at least three enemies for one Requiem shot, with East Raccoon City’s ash-zombie pressure being a good setup.
- Internal Dispute: make one infected damage another, usually by baiting movement or using Grace’s bottle/noise control in a crowded ward.
- Grace and Goliath / Order Up / Deadly Duet: optional Care Center kills can cost resources, so save before attempting them if you are low on ammo.
- No Safe is Safe: every main-story safe must be opened, including the late ARK safes.
- Not Today, Buds: do not run past the Plant 43 seedlings in the chasm.
- Never Touch The Stuff / Minimalist: save these restrictions for a separate easier route unless you already know the game well.

Common Mistakes
- Skipping Grace’s early files. The first Wrenwood and Care Center notes are part of the 75-file route, not tutorial clutter.
- Using the Requiem revolver as a normal handgun. Save it for forced threat control or specific achievement setups.
- Buying damage before inventory space. The Hip Pouch is usually the best first coin purchase because it makes every later route less painful.
- Forgetting that Leon cannot do Grace’s cleanup. If a route needs coins, blood, quartz machines, or Grace-only interaction, clear it with Grace.
- Leaving Raccoon City too fast. BSAA containers, RPD charms, Mr. Raccoons, and the orphanage point of no return are the main traps.
- Touching the ARK archive console too early. Check the side terminal file before the main console advances the story.
- Assuming Standard safe codes work on Insanity. They do not. Keep the difficulty-aware table handy.
