Down in Bermuda Walkthrough: All Islands, Relics, Keys, and Achievements

Official Down in Bermuda screenshot showing Milton and a bright island puzzle scene

Down in Bermuda is short enough to finish in an evening, but it is easy to leave behind a lock, relic, photo, timed achievement, or one awkward island puzzle and then wonder what the game still wants from you. This walkthrough follows a clean 100% route through Turtle Island, Secret Base Island, Forest Island, Shipwreck Island, Lava Island, Labyrinth Island, and the Relic Monument cleanup.

Spoiler warning: this guide names every island, late-game key use, collectible count, puzzle route, and achievement cleanup task. If you want to solve the islands unaided, use only the checklist table first and come back when a specific puzzle blocks you.

Official Down in Bermuda screenshot showing Milton and a bright island puzzle scene
The safest 100% route is not just island-to-island. You need one planned cleanup loop after Lava Island.

100% Route at a Glance

The basic story order is simple: clear the current island’s orbs, use the Orb Gate, then move on. The 100% route is slightly different because several relics sit behind color-coded locks whose keys are found on later islands. Use this order if you want the least backtracking.

  1. Clear Turtle Island and remember the blue lock for later.
  2. Clear Secret Base Island, including the yellow-key relics, but leave the green lock until Forest Island gives you the green key.
  3. Clear Forest Island, get the green key, and leave the red sheep-pen lock until Lava Island gives you the red key.
  4. Clear Shipwreck Island, get the blue key, and leave the orange mine-cart lock until Turtle Island gives you the orange key.
  5. Clear Lava Island, get the red key, then pause the main route for cleanup.
  6. Backtrack: Turtle blue lock, Secret Base green lock, Forest red lock, Shipwreck orange lock.
  7. Clear Labyrinth Island, finish the five final towers, then visit the Relic Monument after all 30 relics are collected.
Island Main collectible targets Key or lock Achievements to watch
Turtle Island 7 stars, 1 photo, tutorial orbs Blue lock later gives the orange key Explorer, Orb Collector, Cowabunga!, Escape Master risk
Secret Base Island 26 stars, 7 relics, 1 photo, 4 orbs Yellow key now; green lock later Secret Agent, Puffer Fish Party, Barrel Blast, Liquid Levers, Super Sleuth
Forest Island 26 stars, 4 relics, 1 photo, 5 orbs Green key now; red lock later Forager, Quack Attack, Sheep Herder, Hunter Gatherer
Shipwreck Island 26 stars, 10 relics, 1 photo, 3 orbs Blue key now; orange lock later Landlubber, The Kraken Challenge, Cannon Blast, Skull Mountain, Here be treasure
Lava Island 32 stars, 6 relics, 1 photo, 3 orbs Red key Fire God, Magma!, Master of Flames
Labyrinth Island 20 stars, 3 relics, 1 photo, final towers Purple key and purple lock on the island Tile Champion, Crystal Clear, Escape Bermuda, Escape Master

Before You Start: Missables and Cleanup Rules

  • Escape Master is the big planning choice. To earn it, you must escape without opening any in-game Star Map. You can pick maps up, but do not view them. If you want a relaxed first playthrough, ignore Escape Master and use maps freely.
  • The game autosaves. Treat timed or perfect achievements as real attempts. If you fail Tile Champion, Sheep Herder, The Kraken Challenge, or Escape Master, expect cleanup through replay or reset rather than a quick reload.
  • Collect photos as you go. There is one photo on each main island. They are easy to forget because they do not block story progress.
  • Fake rocks and shells matter. Keys and relics are often hidden under hollow gray rocks, shells, hatches, flowers, or tiny caves that look like scenery.
  • Use the Orb Gate for cleanup. Once an island is open, the gate lets you revisit it. The cleanest locked-area loop begins after Lava Island.
  • Steam Community cleanup guides were readable but limited. They carried removed/incompatible banners during source capture, so this article uses them only to cross-check achievement behavior, not as official game documentation.
Official Down in Bermuda screenshot showing an island with machinery and puzzle objects
Many solutions are camera puzzles first. Rotate around every machine before assuming you are stuck.

Turtle Island Walkthrough

Turtle Island teaches almost every habit you need later: rotate the camera, check the rear side of machines, press triangle buttons on Star Monuments, and look behind scenery before leaving.

Opening Tile and Machine Puzzle

Move the four symbol slabs until each one sits on its matching symbol. When the machine rises, rotate around it instead of staying on the front. Press the red button, slide the roof lever, turn to the back and pull the rear lever down, then return to the front and use the new buttons and slider. Rotate the two blue wheels until the halves form a triangle. Herman wakes up and gives you the first important orb reward.

Stars, Photo, and First Gate Exit

Press the triangle button at the Star Monument, then collect the Star Map if you are not attempting Escape Master. Turtle Island has 7 stars. Check the plane wreckage, the buildings near the monument, the short and tall arches, the beach chest, and the rock near the monument. After all 7 are placed, the monument gives the final Turtle Island orb. The photo is beside the tall narrow arch. Use the Orb Gate when the island is complete.

Leave the blue lock alone for now. You will not have the blue key until Shipwreck Island. When you return later, open this lock to get the orange key and complete Turtle Island’s stat checklist for Cowabunga!.

Secret Base Island Walkthrough

Secret Base Island is where Down in Bermuda becomes more than a hidden-object hunt. It mixes underwater devices, D.A.V.I.D.’s tower sequence, a symbol temple, a sea monster cannon puzzle, and later the orange liquid lever puzzle.

First Sweep: Map, Photo, Yellow Key, and Early Relics

Pan toward the boathouse. The Star Map is in one of the canoes, the photo is near the boathouse and Star Monument, and the yellow key is inside the chest behind the boathouse. Use that yellow key on the nearby yellow lock to collect 2 relics. You can also collect one relic from a chest between the sea mines and another from a small heart-shaped rock behind the lighthouse. The remaining relics wait behind the later green lock.

Before solving the big machines, inflate the yellow puffer fish 10 times for Puffer Fish Party. This is a classic missable because it is a silly interaction, not a required puzzle step.

D.A.V.I.D. and the First Two Orbs

Use the red button and wheel on the underwater lab to meet D.A.V.I.D. When the four vertical buttons appear, press them in this order:

D.A.V.I.D. button order 3, 2, 4, 1 from top to bottom

The tower chain that follows is mostly about revealing hidden controls. Slide the purple knob, press every newly revealed button, pull the top levers, and open side panels as they appear. When the symbol clue is exposed, match the central tower symbols to circle, diamond, diamond, square. That opens the glass dome for an orb.

After the sea monster damages the lab, remove the loose panel, collect the hidden stars, fill the red-button gauge, rotate the dial, then work the segmented stone monument near D.A.V.I.D. Rotate the second and fourth pieces to finish the pattern. D.A.V.I.D. gives another orb.

Star Monument Temple and Sea Monster Cannon

Secret Base Island has 26 stars. Many are hidden under puffer fish, inside shells, behind hatches, in flower buds, and inside small underwater devices. Once all 26 are placed at the Star Monument, a temple rises. Its four red-button symbols are copied from symbols around the island: the broad rock island, the rocky arch near the boathouse, the structure with the segmented monument, and the temple itself.

Before you defeat the sea monster, earn Barrel Blast by firing 12 barrels. Then set the cannon for the mines. The readable walkthrough sources agree on the three target setups, but they describe the vertical direction from different camera viewpoints; if a shot misses, rotate your view and keep the same horizontal slot idea:

Mine shot Vertical setting Horizontal setting
1 Top / up Second slot
2 Bottom / down Second slot
3 Middle Left / first slot

Green-Lock Cleanup: Liquid Levers

Return after Forest Island gives you the green key. The green lock opens the dome with the final Secret Base relics and the orange liquid puzzle. Think of the containers as left, middle, right with capacities 8, 12, and 5. Start with all liquid in the middle. The goal is 6 in the left container, 6 in the middle, and 0 in the right.

Move Lever action State after move
Start All liquid in middle 0, 12, 0
1 Left lever left 8, 4, 0
2 Middle lever right 3, 4, 5
3 Right lever left 3, 9, 0
4 Middle lever right 0, 9, 3
5 Left lever left 8, 1, 3
6 Middle lever right 6, 1, 5
7 Right lever left 6, 6, 0

Take the final 3 relics. That finishes Secret Base Island’s stat cleanup and unlocks Liquid Levers and Super Sleuth if the rest of the island is complete.

Forest Island Walkthrough

Forest Island has several small interactions that look optional until they become collectible checks. Tap the hanging green creatures three times each for the first orb, then collect the Star Map from the jetty near the sheep island and the photo from the bench on the main island.

Stars, Mushrooms, Rabbits, and Owl Pillars

Forest Island has 26 stars. Some are tucked into huts, lily pads, a greenhouse panel, hollow logs, chests, cave mouths, and plants. Two star groups are puzzle rewards:

  • Rabbits: tap the 5 brown rabbits repeatedly until they dive into their holes. This reveals 3 stars.
  • Six mushrooms: press them in the order top, bottom-left, top-left, bottom-right, bottom, top-right to reveal another 3 stars.

After all stars are placed, rotate the owl pillars so their colored circles face the same directions as the matching small reference pillars. A commonly verified orientation is red west, yellow south, and green north. Take the orb when the monument resolves.

Electricity, Water, and Quack Attack

The backpack creature starts the electricity puzzle. Pull the revealed lever four times, press the four buttons on the first tower, then follow each machine as it rises: button, four switches, side panels, quick four-button press, slider, gauge button, and the final color/lever panel. Match the visible color stack from the adjacent green column, then set the lever directions to match the four door symbols. A reliable lever order is right, left, right, left.

For the water section, click Milton near the beehive and rotate the discs so water reaches the fountain. The next water puzzle routes current through water to stop the cave creature and gives the final Forest orb.

Open the duck’s hut after the duck returns, then do it again until you have opened it three times for Quack Attack. Search the fake gray rocks for the green key and early relics. The red lock on the sheep pen is for later.

Red-Lock Cleanup: Sheep Herder

Return after Lava Island gives you the red key. The sheep puzzle asks you to swap the brown and white sheep into the correct pens. Sheep can move forward or backward and can jump one adjacent sheep, which makes the puzzle closer to a small peg-jump board than a normal sorting task. The achievement timer is 200 seconds from the gate opening, so look at the starting layout before you commit to the attempt.

Shipwreck Island Walkthrough

Official Down in Bermuda screenshot showing an island puzzle with water and ruins
Shipwreck Island’s cannon is used for progress, relics, and two different achievement checks.

Get the photo from the small rock in the water near the starting side, then find the Star Map on the wooden desk on the tree-covered island. Raise the submerged boat by clicking its pirate flag, collect the star and relic inside, and turn the three wheels on the boat ramp.

Cannon Towers and the Kraken

Shipwreck Island has 26 stars and 10 relics. Once the stars are placed, three multi-level crow’s nests rise from the water. Move the cannon around the track and shoot the targets on all three levels of each nest. Use the small loop of track to change the cannon’s facing when needed.

Next, shoot three weak spots on the central ship to sink it. The Kraken fight asks you to push the Kraken into the whirlpool with cannon blasts. For The Kraken Challenge, it must be done in 7 hits. Community achievement notes agree that a complete miss may not increase the in-game counter, but any extra hit on the Kraken is a problem. Aim carefully and do not rush the last angle.

Relic Targets, Blue Key, and Cannon Blast

After the Kraken, keep using the cannon for relic cleanup. Important cannon targets include weak spots near the small boat island, the tree-covered island, several boats, X-marked stone statues, and the large pirate symbol route that reveals the blue key. When you have the blue key and the final orb, Shipwreck Island’s main route is complete.

Before leaving, fire enough cannon balls to reach 50 total shots for Cannon Blast. This is easiest while the cannon is still active and you are already checking targets.

Orange-Lock Cleanup: Skull Mountain

After you get the orange key from Turtle Island’s blue lock, return to Shipwreck Island and open the orange lock around the mine cart. The ride unlocks Skull Mountain; check the mine cart afterward for the final Shipwreck relics and Here be treasure.

Lava Island Walkthrough

Lava Island has the largest star count in the game at 32. Pick up the photo on the hill above the waterfall and the Star Map from the hut in front of the Star Monument. Check the four fake gray rocks for the red key and relics.

Stars and Snake Temple

Start with the easy star triggers: pull the two small monument levers near the beach, press the red nose on the waterfall temple face, and use the 8 tar-pit holes to launch 8 stars that you must grab quickly. The rest are hidden in huts, crevices, plants, waterfalls, a tepee, hollow logs, and stone pieces around the snake head.

After placing all 32 stars, take the monument orb. Then use the waterfall temple’s black-and-white buttons to copy the teeth pattern from the other temple. The most useful way to check the pattern is by side:

Side Button pattern
South White, black, white, black
East Black, white, white, white
North White, black, black, white
West Black, white, black, black

Next, set the four outside-island dials to match the symbols around the second temple, press the four red buttons, and rotate the lava path tiles so the flow reaches the mud below. Fight the Fire God by tapping the tar-pit holes as it and its minions appear. This earns Fire God, then you can take the next orb.

Milton’s Seesaw and the Red Key

Find Milton on the beach seesaw, click the opposite side, then keep finding and launching him until he breaks through the boards. This reveals the last Lava relics, gives Master of Flames, and leads to the final Lava orb for Magma!. With the red key in hand, start the cleanup loop before going deep into Labyrinth Island.

Key Cleanup Before Labyrinth Island

Do this loop after Lava Island and before treating Labyrinth as your final stretch:

Return to Use Reward
Turtle Island Blue key from Shipwreck Orange key and Cowabunga! if every Turtle stat is complete
Secret Base Island Green key from Forest Liquid Levers puzzle, final Secret Base relics, Super Sleuth
Forest Island Red key from Lava Sheep Herder attempt and final Forest relic
Shipwreck Island Orange key from Turtle Skull Mountain mine cart and final Shipwreck relics

Labyrinth Island Walkthrough

Labyrinth Island is the last main island and the place where perfect-run achievement pressure peaks. Grab the Star Map from the small pink rock behind the Star Monument if you are not doing Escape Master, and collect the photo from the low ground near the highest peak.

Stars, Relics, and Tile Champion

Collect all 20 stars before pressing the Star Monument button. Look in chests, around purple crystals, near the train tracks, in water recesses, behind plants, and on the small islands around the main puzzle space. The island’s 3 relics are all available here: one is in a chest near the Star Monument, one is on a small purple crystal beyond the train tracks, and one is on a tall pink crystal among the train tracks.

The sliding tile puzzle is tied to Tile Champion, which requires completion within 14 moves. A move is best treated as one complete click-and-drag from press to release. If you release a tile halfway through a planned drag, assume that you have spent a move. Because the common numbered-tile solutions depend on screenshot labels, use a separate reference image or your own notes before starting the timed attempt.

Three Cubes, Mushrooms, Rail Tracks, and Purple Key

After the sliding puzzle, use the three floating control boxes. Set the lights like this:

Control box Lights to activate
Orange Middle
Blue Top and bottom
Yellow Middle and right

Press the three big buttons, turn the handles, and move Milton forward. Watch the 10-mushroom pattern and repeat it in the same order, starting from whichever mushroom you choose. Rotate the hexagon tiles until they make a connected pink path. Then guide the mine cart to the three blue nodes, move it to the path puzzle area, and continue until you meet Sherman and receive the purple key.

Final Towers and Escape

Use the purple key on the nearby purple lock for Crystal Clear. Five towers rise around the island. Each tower is a rotate-and-align puzzle: create complete paths, complete matching shapes, and line up the beams toward the central crystal. When all five beams are active, Milton escapes Bermuda and Escape Bermuda unlocks. If you never opened a Star Map during the run, this is also where Escape Master should unlock.

Official Down in Bermuda screenshot showing Milton near an island structure
Labyrinth Island is where you should slow down. Tile Champion and Escape Master are the hardest cleanup mistakes to undo.

Relic Monument and 30-Relic Cleanup

The Relic Monument appears after the game is complete. You need all 30 relics before visiting it: 7 from Secret Base, 4 from Forest, 10 from Shipwreck, 6 from Lava, and 3 from Labyrinth. Turtle Island has no relic count in the readable walkthrough references, but its blue-lock cleanup still matters because it gives the orange key for Shipwreck.

If the Relic Monument does not complete, open each island’s checklist from the island select/menu and look for the missing category: relic, lock, key, map, or photo. The usual mistakes are the Secret Base green-lock liquid puzzle, the Forest sheep pen, the Shipwreck mine cart, and one of the tiny Labyrinth relics near the tracks.

Common Mistakes

  • Opening a Star Map on an Escape Master run. If that achievement matters, do not open any map screen. Use outside notes instead.
  • Leaving Secret Base before Barrel Blast. Fire the 12 barrels before you finish the sea monster mine solution.
  • Solving Shipwreck too efficiently. You still need 50 cannon shots for Cannon Blast, so fire extras before leaving.
  • Forgetting key cleanup before Labyrinth. Labyrinth feels final, but the locked areas on earlier islands hold many relics and stat completions.
  • Starting Tile Champion casually. The 14-move requirement is strict. Count click-and-drag releases, not just board positions.
  • Missing tiny relics near Labyrinth tracks. The last few relics are easy to overlook because the island’s color palette makes them blend into crystal scenery.
