Steam lists 26 Mixtape achievements. Four are story markers; the other 22 require a room interaction, a minigame condition, or a late-game pickup route. PlayStation shows 27 trophies because its list adds the Platinum. The safest cleanup plan is to protect the four bedroom chains first, then replay the short action chapters by number.
Current-build boundary: this route was checked on July 19, 2026. The official June 16 v1.1 patch added Play from Outro to Chapter Select and specifically made Banned In Massachusetts and Front To Back more reliable. Earlier reports disagree about whether isolated Chapter Select interactions always carried correctly, so the room checklists below use a continuous-pass method.
Separate the four automatic unlocks from the 22 deliberate ones
These four achievements mark the end of a room arc or the story. Do not restart when they are absent in the middle of the associated exploration chapter:
- Goodbye, Stacey’s Room appears after the Rockford-room memories close in Chapter 10.
- Matching The Drapes appears after the Cassandra-room arc and Chapter 18.
- Eight Minute Odyssey appears after Slater’s room and the Starlight Video memory in Chapter 26.
- Last Song appears after the Chapter 30 finale and credits.
Everything else can be planned around a visible condition. Minigame achievements unlock immediately or at the end of their scene; Front To Back is the exception because it accumulates interactions across all bedroom returns.
Front To Back is a room-state route, not a loose collectible hunt
An untouched interaction shows a solid white dot. After it is used, the indicator becomes faded or hollow and may only be visible at close range. Chapter Select can reset those visual indicators even when progress is retained, and older sources conflict about how reliably partial cleanup worked before v1.1. For a dependable attempt, begin at the first chapter of a room chain, allow every line to finish, and complete every return state before leaving.
Stacey and Debbie: Chapters 2-9
- Initial Rockford’s House state: check the closed hallway door, paintings, radio, picture, and bathroom counter or towel. In the bedroom, use the shelf CD, Cassandra, record player, skateboard, keyboard pencil case, Slater, tapes by the TV, cassette player, and nearby CDs. Use the glowing desk cassette last.
- After The Kiss: talk to Slater and Cassandra, inspect the closet pictures, then use the VCR.
- After Headbanging: talk to both friends, inspect the photo string, collect the photos beneath the string, in the book, and on the closet, then use the string again.
- After Shopping Cart Bomb: hear Slater, inspect the closet poster, and complete Cassandra’s new conversation. The carton on the desk chair is the final object in this return state.
- After Rockford’s Headphones: talk to both friends and use every card on the wall board.
- Debbie’s Bedroom: speak with Slater, examine the trophy shelf, hear Cassandra’s current line, and inspect the floor box at her side. Finish with the cabinet and the photo on the green dresser.
- After Ultimate Slushie: talk to both friends, open the dresser, move the black notebook, and take the ticket.
- After Photobooth: hear both friends, check the photo resting on the stacked boxes, and activate the shell on the blue dresser. Return to Cassandra and Slater until each reaches a leave-ready line, then open the wardrobe.
Cassandra: Chapters 13-17
- At the first visit, check the hallway door and portrait, then the room book, wall board, tape left of the bed, Cassandra, flower painting, Slater, right-wall picture, and trophy cabinet.
- After Softball, use the bed, talk to Cassandra and Slater, and inspect the paper in the bathroom.
- After Toilet Paper Attack, hear Slater’s new line, inspect the marked wall spot, speak with Cassandra, and check the photo on the small table by the bathroom doorway.
- After Floating on Sadness, use the trophy-cabinet door, talk to Slater, look up at the curtain above the window, and inspect the paper behind him. After the characters change positions, take Slater to his leave-ready line, talk to Cassandra twice, and use the window.
- On Cassandra’s Rooftop, talk to Cassandra until her leave-ready line, then talk to Slater before starting the Mini Master task.
Slater: Chapter 25
Begin on the stair side with the guitar and the green book near it. Continue through the photographs attached to the amp, the plasma globe, and the red toy robot. Across the room, use the wall picture, speak with Slater, inspect the wall behind him, and check the fish tank and record player. Examine the lava lamp beside the tape player before advancing the memory. When control returns, finish Slater’s new dialogue, check the handheld on the desk, and finally activate the cassette lying on the bed. Front To Back should unlock there if every earlier room state counted.
Chapters 1-18: clear the early conditions in restart-sized groups

For the 10-cone skate, read the route as five groups: three cones beside the yellow dump truck; one after the school-bus intersection; two after the semi trailer; one before the construction drop; two on the right during the overhead camera; and the last on the left after the camera returns behind Stacey. If cones eight or nine are missed, a deliberate crash into the blue car on the left can rewind to just before them, but a clean chapter restart is easier to verify.
For the Mini Master timer, grab and rotate the device immediately, open the rear cover, place the two batteries one at a time, close the cover, turn the device face-up, and press power. If the achievement does not appear, restart from Cassandra’s Rooftop and speak to Slater again rather than replaying the whole house.
Chapters 19-24: one broad trigger run, then four timed cabin tasks
Appetite For Destruction, Chapter 19: press the left and right trigger controls continuously during Skateboard Explosion. Valid objects gain a red outline near the rider. The gumball machine in the mall is the final check; if the achievement does not appear there, restart the chapter.
The four cabin minigames are short enough to restart individually:
- Paint it, Black, If You Want. – Chapter 21: cover the door in under 30 seconds. Start at a top corner, paint one full vertical strip, shift the roller just enough to make the next strip, and snake across. Small uncovered gaps are tolerated; do not waste time polishing the first strip.
- Sofa King Fast – Chapter 22: move both characters right with both sticks, take the straight middle route, and place the couch over the target rectangle within 30 seconds. Drop it only after the marker turns green.
- Leaves That Are Green – Chapter 23: clear the fire-pit circle in under 45 seconds. Use charged broom swings from the center to remove the bulk, then quick taps around the edge for isolated leaves.
- From The Hip – Chapter 24: hit every can and bottle on the car in under 30 seconds. Work from one end to the other and aim just above Rockford’s fingers while the slingshot is drawn.
Chapters 26-29: count physical targets before the final party pickup route
Doppelbanger, Chapter 26: knock over all five character cutouts in Starlight Video. Two are at the ends of the left aisles, two are on the back wall, and one is near the clerk’s aisle.
Tapehead Graveyard, Chapter 26: knock 200 VHS tapes from the shelves. Walk the outside wall and push along each shelf face while collecting the five cutouts. Both video-store achievements appear immediately when their counts are satisfied. For story checkout afterward, bring the clerk three movies: two with blue cases and one with a yellow case.
Well, Take A Look At You, Chapter 27: finish The Run without missing a required jump or slide. Jump when the obstacle has an open top or a gap, and slide when the opening is visibly low. Brushing a tall fence animation is not necessarily a failure; a missed required input produces the obvious rewind.
Banned In Massachusetts, Chapter 28: activate every firework during Coastal Cruise. Press both trigger controls repeatedly throughout the ride so cues on either side are caught. This is one of the two achievements named in v1.1’s reliability fix, so update before diagnosing a clean run as broken.
Fight For Your Right, Chapter 29: collect every offered party item while filming. White camcorder boxes advance the party, but high-fives do not count as items. Take this perimeter route before the final Camille event:
- Take and finish the drink from the sunglasses-wearing guest on the right.
- Take the drink from the girl slightly forward on the left.
- Near the center-right, accept and eat the food from the man, then keep eating from the bowl directly behind him until its prompt is exhausted.
- Facing the house, take the drink from the woman in black on the right.
- At the bathtub full of drinks, keep taking and finishing them until no prompt remains.
- On the deck, take the drink offered left of the door.
- Turn away from the house toward the sunglasses filming marker and take the final drink from the girl beside it.
The achievement should appear after the last required item. If it does not, do not trigger the late party marker; make another lap for an offer that still has an interaction prompt.
If an achievement refuses to unlock
- Confirm that the game is on v1.1 or later. The named fixes affect Banned In Massachusetts and Front To Back on PC and consoles.
- Use Chapter Select for self-contained minigames. Use Play from Outro when the unlock is checked after the action rather than during it.
- For Front To Back, replay an entire bedroom chain instead of one suspected object. Let dialogue finish and do not trust reset dot graphics as proof that old progress vanished.
- Recheck the common room misses: the closed hallway door at Rockford’s, both leave-ready conversations after Photobooth, the curtain above Cassandra’s window, the paper behind Slater, and Slater’s post-tape-player dialogue.
- For target counts, wait for the actual unlock: the final cone, the 50th roll, the 20th photo, the fifth cutout, or the 200th tape. Leaving based on an estimate creates an ambiguous retry.
- On PlayStation, compare against 27 only because the Platinum is an extra trophy. Steam and Xbox have the 26 gameplay achievements covered here.
