Gecko Gods 100% Guide: 18 Achievements and 32 Relics

The gecko examining carved pillars and a puzzle chamber in Gecko Gods

A current 100% file in Gecko Gods needs two ledgers, not one: the 18 Steam achievements and the expanded in-game collections introduced by Forgotten Cove. An old checklist that stops at 10 islands, 28 relics, or 28 insects can leave every visible base-game task complete while the new map markers and rare skins remain unresolved.

Version check: this roadmap was reconciled on July 19, 2026 against the live Steam achievement page, the official Forgotten Cove notes, Hotfix 2939, and two updated completion references. The current targets are 18 achievements, 13 islands, 32 relics, and 32 insect types. Community claims about cross-save Gem progress conflict, so the safe plan below does not depend on them.

Optional chambers and side mechanisms matter more to a completion file than the shortest path through a temple.

Replace the launch checklist before collecting anything else

Tracker Launch-era references Current target Why it changed
Steam achievements 17 appears on some thin guides 18 The live Steam page is the controlling list.
Visited islands 10 13 Forgotten Cove, Waterfall Cavern, and Aquaduct were added.
Relics 28 32 The free update added four more.
Insect types 28 32 The free update added four more.

Open the in-game Guide before starting a sweep. It is the only practical way to distinguish “I visited this area” from “this island still owns one missing insect or relic.” Keep a note for each island and cross it out only when its local counters agree with the Guide.

Eleven story achievements should unlock along the dependency route

These do not need separate collectible detours, but their names tell you which progression state failed:

  1. Mysterious Caves follows the opening cave escape.
  2. Setting Sail follows the Water Gecko sequence and boat access.
  3. Singing Peaks requires the island challenge to validate, not merely five audible bells.
  4. Sailing Isle requires the full active-ring course and its chamber control.
  5. Ancient Hill follows the exterior pictures and the final sliding board.
  6. Desert Temple Gate follows the four-mirror lighthouse chain.
  7. Desert Temple follows the inner sand-and-light route.
  8. Volcano Temple Gate follows all four outer seals. Hotfix 2939 fixed cases where the door opened without awarding this achievement.
  9. Volcano Temple follows the descent through the open gate.
  10. Smoldering Fire Gecko follows the final god interaction.
  11. Awaken the Gods! follows the end of the base story.

If one of these is absent after a later story achievement appears, update first and revisit the corresponding completed mechanism. Do not erase the save. Official hotfixes have addressed multiple temple-state and achievement problems since launch.

Explorer requires 13 landfalls and a Guide-menu check

The current island set is River Temple, Singing Peaks, Sailing Isle, Ancient Hill, Great Desert, the Volcano, six tiny islands, and Forgotten Cove. The two newest tiny islands are Waterfall Cavern and Aquaduct. Community completion references agree that opening the Guide after all markers have been visited is the final registration step for Explorer!.

Use the Guide’s island markers as a route ledger; distant scenery is not proof of a registered visit.

Count the six tiny islands individually. A common 10-of-13 file has the four launch tiny islands but not both update islands and Forgotten Cove. Dock, put the gecko on land, and inspect the Guide rather than sailing past the coastline and assuming it counted.

Sweep the 32 relics by region, then reconcile the island totals

The locations below are orientation checkpoints, not substitute screenshots. At each destination, let the Guide confirm that the pickup registered before moving the boat. If an island count is already complete, skip the whole cluster instead of checking every old pedestal again.

River Temple: six relics

  1. Climb to the exposed pickup on the island’s high ground.
  2. In the southwest, trace the mechanism beside the paired gecko statues and pull the control that raises their stone structure.
  3. On the northwest beach, solve the nearby cave mechanism to open the separate stone enclosure.
  4. Follow the northeastern aqueduct all the way to its end.
  5. Inside the Cathedral Gong route, look above the final hall for a gecko-sized opening.
  6. During the Bathhouse Gong route, use the upper rotating ceiling instead of leaving immediately after the water drains.

The last two are the easiest to strand inside otherwise completed story rooms. Check them before treating River Temple as an outdoor-only search.

Singing Peaks and Sailing Isle: four relics

  • Singing Peaks 1: climb to the top of the beacon.
  • Singing Peaks 2: search behind the small waterfall on the west side, not the large waterfall used by the bell route.
  • Sailing Isle 1: inspect the bridge near the island’s middle.
  • Sailing Isle 2: enter the circular stone structure on the eastern side.

Ancient Hill and Forgotten Cove: four relics

  • Ancient Hill 1: clear the enemies in the room beside the beacon activator.
  • Ancient Hill 2: solve the mechanism attached to the circular structure in the southwest.
  • Forgotten Cove 1: complete the rotation puzzle on the hill.
  • Forgotten Cove 2: complete the separate sequence puzzle at the same upper area.

Forgotten Cove is also the destination tied to the collection’s deeper lore chamber after all 32 relics are registered. If the chamber remains unavailable, verify the total before reworking its two local puzzles.

Six tiny islands: one relic on each

  1. Search the tiny island between River Temple and the Great Desert.
  2. Southeast of the Great Desert, collect all 20 spheres to expose the pickup.
  3. Northeast of Ancient Hill, use the island’s lever.
  4. Search the small island between Singing Peaks and the Volcano.
  5. West of Sailing Isle, complete the 24-sphere collection.
  6. Search the tiny island southwest of the Volcano.

The current completion references identify Waterfall Cavern and Aquaduct among this six-island group. Use the map name and local counter to match them rather than relying on a pre-update four-island numbering scheme.

Great Desert: six relics

  1. Check the camp in the southwest.
  2. At the southwest lighthouse area, inspect the ruined tunnel behind the large gecko statue.
  3. At the central ruined tunnel, climb through the window, turn left, and break the pots.
  4. In the ruined city, ring all four bells to reveal the reward.
  5. Climb the building at the far northwest edge.
  6. Complete the ring course near the Desert Gate in the northeast.

The three-dial lighthouse hub also carries an optional branch. If its main beam reaches the temple but the desert total is short, return to the hub and follow the line that does not serve the story receiver.

The Volcano: six relics

  1. Sail through the cave rings, then search below the elevator they activate.
  2. In the city before the gate, use the nearby lever to expose the pickup.
  3. Inspect the underside of the bridge at the Volcano Gate.
  4. Climb to the top of the Volcano.
  5. Complete the ring course in front of the gate.
  6. On the eastern far side, open the stone structure using the nearby solution; read it from the inverted orientation shown in the environment.

That allocation reconciles to 32: six at River Temple, two each at Singing Peaks, Sailing Isle, Ancient Hill, and Forgotten Cove, six across the tiny islands, six in the Great Desert, and six at the Volcano.

Big Lunch is an island-by-island spawn search, not a fixed route

Big Lunch requires eating every insect type. Treasure Hunter follows the 32 relics, and Hoarder follows completion of both collections. The current total is 32 insect types, but readable completion references warn that insects can spawn in small groups at more than one location. A permanent numbered coordinate list would overstate the evidence.

Use this loop instead:

  1. Open the Guide and choose one island with an incomplete insect set.
  2. Search vegetation, cave edges, walls, and the approach to puzzle structures before leaving the shore area.
  3. Eat any visually new insect immediately; merely seeing or touching it does not satisfy the achievement wording.
  4. Reopen the Guide after the pickup and record the island whose counter changed.
  5. On each tiny island, pair the insect search with its single relic so the boat trip serves both collections.

Do not use an April-era 28-insect checklist to diagnose a July save. Forgotten Cove added four insects, and Hotfix 2939 tied one rare skin to catching the full current set.

Money Machine and Fashionista should be finished together

Money Machine requires 10,000 collected Gems. Fashionista requires every customization item, which makes the mirrors a second reason to keep breaking pots and defeating hostile creatures during normal travel. Hotfix 2939 added more pots, reducing the need to turn one room into a repetitive grind.

Two community sources say Gem progress can accumulate across saves, while a recorded player report says that approach did not unlock the achievement. The official public description does not resolve the conflict. Treat 10,000 as a current-profile target: collect aggressively on the file where the mirror purchases and Guide progress live, and do not start a second save merely to test an unsupported shortcut.

The same hotfix gave the four rare skins explicit requirements:

  • finish the game and escape the lava;
  • explore every island;
  • catch every insect;
  • collect every relic.

Those conditions make Fashionista a late reconciliation achievement. Buy the ordinary mirror items as Gems become available, then revisit the mirror after the four completion states are true.

Reconcile all 18 names before replaying a temple

The final total is easy to audit by groups:

  • 11 story: Mysterious Caves, Setting Sail, Singing Peaks, Sailing Isle, Ancient Hill, Desert Temple Gate, Desert Temple, Volcano Temple Gate, Volcano Temple, Smoldering Fire Gecko, and Awaken the Gods!
  • 3 exploration/economy: Explorer!, Money Machine, and Fashionista.
  • 3 collection: Big Lunch, Treasure Hunter, and Hoarder.
  • 1 final: Completionist, awarded for completing the rest.

If Steam shows 17 of 18, identify the missing group first. A story gap points to a mechanism or hotfix issue. Explorer points to one of the three update islands or the Guide-menu registration. Big Lunch and Treasure Hunter point to local Guide counters. Fashionista points to Gems, mirror purchases, or one of the new rare-skin conditions. That diagnosis is faster than beginning another story run.

Exact relic orientations were reconciled across updated completion references. Removed-guide warnings, trainer claims, old 28-item totals, fixed insect spawns, and an unsupported cross-save guarantee were not promoted into fact.
