Project Songbird only looks linear until a night sequence locks you inside a loop. The way out is usually not more exploration: it is a missing tool, a clue you heard on the radio, a painting that changes the house, or a monster whose movement depends on your line of sight. This walkthrough follows those dependencies through all three acts and flags the two places where copying a code from somebody else’s run can waste your time.

Story spoiler warning: locations and puzzle states are named from the prologue through the final return to the cabin. The route was checked on July 20, 2026 against the released game and official Steam news through version 1.2.4. The pause menu’s current-goal display, improved stealth behavior, extra Act I checkpoints, and later puzzle clarifications came from post-launch updates, so an older console build may present fewer prompts. The current client and newer FYRE Games notes take priority.
Read the game in dependencies, not rooms
Each act alternates between the cabin’s daylight tasks and a larger nightmare space. Daylight items open the night route: the clean filter makes the pump sequence possible, the screwdriver opens both the police-station vent and the radio-tower panel, the radio supplies variable clues, and the Act II bolt cutters are needed at the beginning of Act III. If a door seems inert, check the current goal in the pause menu and the journal before searching the same hallway again.
Combat is rarely the lock. Bottles can pull a Toothman away from a route, cubicles and crawlspaces break sightlines, and the Stalkers move while they are outside your view. Version 1.2.0 made stealth and losing pursuit more reliable. Save bullets for padlocks and forced pressure points; an enemy standing near an objective is not automatically an enemy you must kill.
Act I: build the tool chain before the police station
Days 1-3 at Don’s cabin
Take the white box from the boat, carry it to the cabin, and establish four landmarks: the picnic table outside, the radio-tower path behind the chain-link fence, the church path behind boards, and the Pump House opposite the cabin. Pick up the flashlight inside, the radio and coded note at the picnic table, and the clean water filter behind the cabin. Chop wood when Dakota calls out the fading light.
On Day 2, finish the four-instrument scratch track and take the field recorder into the woods. Clear the boards toward the radio tower, then clear the other boarded path toward the church. The gate remains locked for now, but the broken-bridge branch supplies the flowing-water recording and scrap. Inspect the painting beyond the bridge, return when the cabin door opens, then follow the Pump House sign. Inside, take the bucket; around the structure, collect the wrench and note the workbench. Trying the cabin spigot with the bucket advances the task.
Return to the Pump House on Day 3. Shut the main blue valve, replace the dirty filter, and turn the three symbol wheels in this order:
X, Triangle, X, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Square.
Reopen the blue valve and fill the bucket at the cabin spigot. If the water does not clear, do not add another turn: verify the old filter was removed, the clean one was inserted, and the main valve was reopened after the seven inputs.
Night 3: fuse, elevator, three photographs
Follow the light through the red door into the police station. The reception area is the useful hub: one side holds the empty fusebox, another leads to the elevator and cubicles, and the red-door room contains a workbench and a mantle that will eventually accept three photographs.
- Enter the cubicle floor and reach the office near the static television. Take the screwdriver.
- Use it on the vent beyond the locked double doors. At the split, the longer right branch has healing; the route itself exits into storage.
- Follow the ink-marked path to the fuse and take the first photograph before leaving.
- Return to reception, install the fuse, and call the elevator. Enemies now patrol the office, so use the cubicles as cover instead of fighting in the open.
- On the upper floor, collect the second photograph from the mannequin-side room, then take the opposite route into the repeating stairwell.
The stairwell changes only after you interact with each incomplete mannequin. Find and attach the leg first. The next opened room contains the radio, three clocks, and the Tick Tock box. The current completion references and the updated Act I route agree on 6:45 for the sun/dusk clock, 7:35 for resting birds, and 9:45 for flying birds. One other walkthrough records the flying-birds value as 9:41. If 9:45 does not release the arm, read the room’s whiteboards and the clock face in your client before trying 9:41; also confirm the radio clue has played.
Attach the arm. The next change opens the canvas corridor, where the Cross Key is in the side room. Use that key on the box back in reception to obtain the guillotine lever. Install the lever, take the mannequin head, and attach it. The completed sequence exposes the final photograph. Burn all three photographs on the mantle, enter the red door, answer Finn’s calls through the apartment transition, and return to the cabin to close Act I.
Act II: translate what you hear before touching the TVs
Day 17 radio tower and Day 18 grave
When the outside radio emits static, reread the note beside it and carry the screwdriver to the tower. Open the panel and enter three rows, confirming each row with the button on the right:
- Down, Up, Up
- Up, Up, Up
- Up, Down, Up
Use the repaired radio to speak with Rob. On Day 18, check the rotted stump near the shore even though it does not contain the expected church key; that failed check advances the search to Don’s trunk behind the cabin. Take the revolver, shoot the church-gate padlock, and collect the Grave Chart inside. The marked wall coordinates point to three surnames on the chart. Their initials produce C-F-B for the flower-marked grave’s coffin.
Night 18 piano rooms
The first bar door spells its own chord: play C-E-G. The corridor after it uses B-F-E-A-F. A Stalker closes distance while it is outside the camera, but a piano sequence does not have to be entered in one uninterrupted burst. Face the creature, retreat to create space, enter two or three notes, then look back before finishing.
Take the stairwell key, open the stage-side route, and listen whenever the radio activates. The optional locked room reached by shooting its padlock contains the hunting rifle. The next arena has two Stalkers and two marked pianos: play C-A-G-E at the birdcage and D-E-A-D at the tombstone. Once both indicator lights turn green, take the bolt cutters beyond the opened door. They first open the wired route here and later survive into Act III.
The suitcase piano is a two-part dependency. It spells B-A-G-G-A-G-E, but its E key is missing. Crawl through the machinery-side vent and continue to the television room to find it. The TVs are randomized: three radio messages identify three themes in your run. Select the three matching screens, then activate the switch. The lamps beside it report correct and incorrect choices, so change one screen at a time if you missed a message; somebody else’s three themes are not a universal solution.
Return the E key to the piano, enter BAGGAGE, and take the Red Door painting from Finn’s studio. Carry it back to the stage easel and go through the door that appears. The talk-show dialogue does not block the route. After the scene, leave the church and run to the cabin to finish Act II.
Act III: escape the mine, then make Finn’s house change
Power the elevator before going underground
On Day 23, answer Rob and use the bolt cutters on the chain-link fence behind the cabin. At the mine, take the red fuel can beside the dead generator. Go inside by the left branch for the box cutter, return to the cabin, and cut a length from the exterior hose. Use it at the ruined truck to siphon diesel into the can, fuel the generator, and ride the elevator down.
Below, collect the Coal Mine key past the mine cart, but expect the plank crossing and Finn’s call to separate Dakota from the backpack. After the fall, stop trying to return to the earlier locked door. From the machinery clearing, work right of that door, pass left of the cart, then take the left rail branch toward the skeleton and green-lit room. Take the hunting rifle, trigger the switch by the skeleton, and run through the alarm sequence. The ladder returns you to the upper mine. Retrieve the backpack before following the light through the red door.
Hang each painting, then turn away
Finn’s house responds to placement rather than distance. Take the door painting from the upstairs closet and hang it on the matching outline downstairs. Turn around to make the new doorway appear. Follow it for the landscape painting and hang that upstairs; turn away again.
The landscape route leads into the steam section. Shut all three valves: the first on entry, one in the central room, and the guarded valve reached through the far-left toilet-side route. Once the jets stop, take the square painting from the bathtub. Record the visible number in this area before hanging the painting. The next opened basement has a workbench where the broken axe can be repaired, a model lighthouse, an empty projector, and the next odd-shaped painting.
After hanging that painting, the hallway loop becomes an audio test. Reach the poem, equip the field recorder, and sample each passage rather than choosing by appearance. The verified order is Gasping, Screaming, Crying, followed by the blood-marked passage. This is the intended solution; walking forward at random can keep the loop alive indefinitely.
Heart key, crow, film reel
Take the small red-door painting from the kitchen and hang it near the upstairs red door. Continue through the combat rooms until you reach the open vent, then move through the locker-side route to the Heart Key. Backtrack under the fallen shelf to the heart-marked door and take the taxidermy crow from the bed.
Carry the crow to the perch beside Finn’s painting. On the return route, keep the Stalker in sight and backpedal until the red chair and exit appear. The box in the next room uses 1-9-4-2, assembled from the numbered walls encountered through the house. Take the film reel to the basement projector, play it, return to Finn’s studio, and follow the light through the final transition. Back in the woods, do not spend ammunition clearing the whole path: run to the cabin to finish Dakota’s album and the story.
Three lockups that are clues, not dead ends
- The Act I arm box stays closed: make sure the radio clue played and all three clocks were actually committed. Use the room’s whiteboards if your flying-birds mark differs from 9:45.
- The Act II TV lever rejects the copied answer: the themes are run-dependent. Recover all three radio messages, then use the indicator lights to replace only the wrong screens.
- The Act III hallway repeats: reach the poem, equip the recorder, identify the passage sounds, and follow Gasping, Screaming, Crying before the blood trail.
