Project Songbird has 28 collectibles, but they do not behave like 28 loose objects. Twenty-one are vinyl records that rotate with the cabin’s day, while seven are field recordings tied to specific outdoor sound cues. Missing the correct visit matters more than searching every shelf, especially because the current completion references report no chapter select.

This checklist is designed for a first completion run that also clears the simple action-based missables. Sources were checked July 20, 2026, against the released game, FYRE Games’ Steam announcements through update 1.2.4, and an achievement guide updated July 7. Collectible progress is reported to carry into New Game+, but checking each day before advancing is faster than resolving an uncertain count later.
Know which of the 12 achievements needs a decision
Four achievements come from finishing Act I, Act II, Act III, and the full story. Two track the records and field recordings. One is the meta-achievement for owning the other eleven. That leaves five routes that can change how you play:
- Better on Film: use all 20 camera exposures after reaching Don’s cabin. Photograph anything; the requirement is consuming the film, not finding 20 special subjects.
- It’s Not for Everybody!: return to the arrival boat after reaching the cabin and choose the interaction that leaves the woods.
- One Down…: defeat any hostile with the axe or either firearm.
- Ya Spilled Yer Beans…: inspect the model lighthouse in the Act III basement, beside the workbench where the axe is repaired.
- Just Say NO!: reach the ending without using painkillers.
Do the first four during the collection run. Save Just Say NO! for New Game+ unless you deliberately want a no-heal first playthrough. The updated completion route says New Game+ exposes modifiers such as infinite ammunition, infinite battery, invincibility, one-hit kills, and faster walking; those remove most of the combat risk without changing the requirement that you never consume a painkiller. Official version 1.2.4 also resets health at the start of each act.
Apartment and Day 1: start the record count at six
In Dakota’s apartment, interact with all three records in the living room before taking the phone call that advances the prologue:
- Crash by Auric Echoes
- Foreverever by Thommy’s Party
- Music 4 Worms by Jeron Albrets
After arriving at Don’s cabin on Day 1, use the record player for the next set:
- Memory Card by Bleached SUN
- Risk by Mega Mango
- Dark Forest by Pet Twin
You only need to start each record for it to count; a full listen is not required. This is also the safest point to return to the boat for It’s Not for Everybody! and use all 20 camera shots for Better on Film. Doing both immediately clears two checks that are otherwise easy to forget once the night sequences begin.
Day 2: three records and the first outdoor sweep
The Day 2 cabin set is:
- Locked by Nathan Irving
- Submerged by Mango 4th Ridge
- PATIENT ROLE (feat. A.J. Crew) by Basic Printer
Then equip the field recorder and clear the two branches around the cabin. The first sound is the Woodpecker at the gate between the cabin and radio tower. One route labels it with the first cabin day while another first records it on Day 2; the practical check is the recorder’s audible alert. If the prompt is not active on the first visit, return after Dakota finishes the scratch-track task.
On the church-side path, pass the boarded opening, take the branch under the fallen logs, and aim at the water under the broken bridge for Flowing Stream. The Flopping Fish cue is at the shore beside the arrival boat. Completion references disagree about whether to claim it on Day 2 or during the Day 18 shore visit, so test it now and put the shoreline on the Day 18 recheck list if the recorder will not lock on.
Day 3 and Day 17: use the cabin as a reset point
Before solving the Pump House on Day 3, start the three new cabin records:
- Girl Hell ’04 by N!KO
- run run by SOCKiTTOME
- Through Welcomed Ears by Joan La Perish
No new field sound is listed for Day 3. Use this gap as a count check: after the pump task, you should have nine cabin records plus the three apartment records, and up to three field recordings depending on when the fish cue became available.
Day 17 brings this vinyl set:
- Room to Run by Instructions For Song
- Future Corpses by SHIMMER
- Grey Leaves by Mira Nait
Do not go straight from the radio to the tower. First make a two-stop recording loop. The Toad is in the flower field between the cabin and the clearing. The Flies are inside the small cave at that clearing. Hold the recorder until the capture confirms; ambient noise alone does not prove the collectible registered.
Day 18: records, shoreline recheck, and the church
Start all three Day 18 records before taking the revolver from Don’s trunk:
- Big, Buff, and Handsome by Creature Comfort
- Noctiphancy by The BedHeads
- Frank Said by myclownshoes
Follow Rob’s instruction toward the shore and use that trip to recheck Flopping Fish. Both Act II walkthroughs place the successful capture here even though the completion checklist groups it earlier. Then enter the church and record Dripping Water at the puddle near the entrance before taking the Grave Chart. That sound is tied to the church interior, not the graveyard puzzle.
If you still need One Down…, Night 18 offers several controlled opportunities. A Toothman can be pulled away with bottles, while a Stalker should be kept in view. Kill one Toothman with a weapon you are comfortable using; do not turn the two-piano Stalker arena into the test fight.
Day 23: finish the records before the mine
The last vinyl rotation is available at Don’s cabin at the start of Day 23:
- Keep Trying (feat. Brolly) by Jackie Lune
- Cheers by Glory Days
- Project Serpo by Intoxicated Zen
Those bring the vinyl total to 21. Do this before cutting the fence behind the cabin; the mine route is long and moves into Finn’s house rather than returning you cleanly to the daytime collection loop.
The last field recording is Owl. After the mine escape returns Dakota to the woods and you recover the backpack, turn back toward the mine instead of immediately following the light to the red door. Equip the recorder and follow its alert until the owl capture confirms. Crossing into Finn’s house first risks carrying an unfinished field count into the final sequence.
Inside the Act III basement, inspect the model lighthouse next to the axe-repair workbench. This is the sole location-based action achievement in the final act and is separate from the 28 collectibles.
Use a seven-sound audit before the final projector
Your field list should now contain exactly these seven sounds:
- Woodpecker – radio-tower gate
- Flopping Fish – arrival shore
- Flowing Stream – broken bridge
- Toad – flower field
- Flies – cave at the clearing
- Dripping Water – church interior
- Owl – back toward the mine after recovering the backpack
Audiophile should follow the 21st record, and Ear to the Ground should follow the seventh sound. If one does not unlock, compare the in-game progress against the locations rather than replaying every audio file. The two disputed timing points are Woodpecker and Flopping Fish; their locations are consistent even where guides group their day differently.
A clean two-run finish
The first run should cover the story, all 28 collectibles, the boat interaction, 20 camera shots, one enemy kill, and the lighthouse inspection. That also supplies the four act/story achievements. The second run can be a fast New Game+ pass with the unlocked modifiers active and painkillers left untouched. The final meta-achievement is expected after the other eleven are present; official patch 1.0.7 added a main-menu failsafe for players whose 100% trigger had previously stalled.
