1348 Ex Voto Combat Guide After Patch 1.50

Aeta parrying an armored opponent in 1348 Ex Voto

If combat advice from March feels wrong, your timing is probably not the problem. Patch 1.50 rewrote Perfect Attacks, dodge behavior, target switching, Sword Parts, several Trinkets, and boss balance. A launch build and the July 20, 2026 client do not reward the same habits.

Aeta parrying an armored opponent in 1348 Ex Voto

This guide treats the official June 10 Patch 1.50 changelog as the rules boundary. Exact damage, timing, and equipment values shown by a newer client take priority. The goal is not a permanent best build; it is a repeatable way to choose an action when Guard, Health, camera control, and healing all compete for attention.

Retire three launch-build habits first

Do not read every sword trail as a Perfect Attack. Version 1.50 applies the trail effect to ordinary attacks too. The reliable confirmation is now the dedicated effect on Aeta and the sword, the new sound, and controller vibration at the successful input. If only the trail appears, do not assume the chain counted.

Do not time a Perfect Attack from a charged Heavy Attack. The update removed the Perfect Attack window from Heavy Attacks. Heavy moves recover faster in several cases and can still be useful for pressure, but they are no longer a starting point for Perfect Attack practice or the Blademaster streak.

Do not expect the lock-on to jump to whoever hit you. The revised targeting rule keeps focus where you placed it. An option can restore automatic switching, and an off-screen icon warns about incoming attacks. Choose the behavior deliberately; changing it mid-boss can make a familiar sequence feel inconsistent.

Read Guard and Health as two different phases

A normal enemy with Guard remaining is asking for pressure, not a long Health combo. Version 1.50 made Perfect Attacks deal 50 percent more damage to both Guard and Health. It also stopped Aeta’s attacks from dealing Guard damage to a non-boss once that enemy is already taking Health damage. That separation makes the decision cleaner:

  1. Protect Aeta’s Guard while the enemy is active.
  2. Use safe normal strings, Perfect Attacks, parries, and suitable parts to break the enemy’s Guard.
  3. Convert the break into Health damage without chasing a second Guard objective that no longer exists in that window.
  4. Exit before the enemy recovers instead of spending the last animation on greed.

Bosses need a more cautious read because the patch separately rebalanced all of them. The same Guard-first logic still organizes the exchange, but a launch guide’s exact punish length is not a contract. Test one short response, observe the recovery, and add a second hit only when the live animation consistently allows it.

Build a Perfect Attack chain from feedback, not rhythm memory

Patch 1.50 changed the input window for all of Aeta’s applicable attacks. Old cadence videos can show the motion, but their audio rhythm may be stale. Begin with a normal one-handed string against a single low-pressure enemy. Press the next attack when the current hit is about to connect, then wait for the new success effect and sound before extending the chain.

If the game repeatedly shows the Weak Attack reminder, shorten the input sequence. One confirmed link is more useful than mashing through a full combo. Pommels now extend and shift the Perfect Attack window in both stances, so changing a Pommel also changes the rhythm. Relearn the cue after every Pommel swap.

The dedicated controller vibration now occurs on the successful input rather than on impact. That is important when sparks, multiple enemies, or a close camera make the sword difficult to see. On keyboard, lean on the sound and visual effect; on controller, combine all three signals instead of guessing from rumble alone.

Use dodge to cancel a bad commitment

The updated dodge has more responsiveness and invulnerability time, and it can cancel Aeta’s attacks. This turns it from a pre-planned evasive move into an exit from a string that has become unsafe. When an off-screen marker appears during your second hit, a cancel is usually worth more than finishing the combo.

Do not convert that freedom into constant rolling. A perfect dodge needs a readable incoming attack, and an uncontrolled dodge can move Aeta from the edge of a group into its center. Keep the locked target and escape lane in the same half of the screen. Dodge across an attack when space allows; dodge away when another enemy is closing from the warning side.

Version 1.50 also fixed lost attack inputs around dodges and allowed attacks to queue from Perfect Dodges. If the current client still ignores a follow-up, update before rebuilding the entire control scheme around a launch bug.

Parry is available before the skill tree says it is finished

Base Perfect Parry is now available from the start. At that level, success prevents Guard damage. Buying its skill upgrade adds Guard damage against the opponent. That distinction explains why an early parry can look defensive while a later one actively pushes a break.

Practice on the Chapter III Brigand Leader if a normal group is too noisy. His overhead finish and the end of his longer axe sequence create visible reset points. Block the first observation, parry the next attempt, and respond only after the final swing. The aim is to recognize the end of a string, not to memorize a launch-era frame count.

Nessuno at the Chapter VI amphitheater is a later test because arena pressure reduces the space available for corrections. Hold the camera so the burning perimeter remains visible, defend through the opening sequence, and punish the heavy finish. Patch 1.50 altered boss balance, so current recovery and Guard values decide how long the punish can be.

Choose stance by the exit you need

One-handed attacks are the safer diagnostic tool: their faster motion makes it easier to stop after one confirmed hit and react to another enemy. Two-handed attacks create heavier pressure but ask for a clearer opening. Use two hands when an enemy has finished a long string or is already close to a Guard break. Return to one hand when camera pressure or an unblockable response makes mobility more valuable than the next hit.

The important Patch 1.50 change is that Sword Part effects are no longer locked to a stance in the old way. A Blade can now modify Guard damage, Health damage, or both regardless of Aeta’s current stance. A Pommel likewise adjusts Perfect Attack timing for either stance. You can change stance for the tactical problem without automatically discarding the equipment benefit you built around.

Part or Trinket Patch 1.50 change Decision it affects
Impera Blade / Guard Named effect increased from 10% to 50% Recheck old parts instead of assuming they are starter gear
Tusca Blade / Guard Named effect increased from 10% to 50% Compare live Guard and Health output in both stances
Ultima Blade / Guard Named effect increased from 5% to 25% Do not treat the launch version’s late-game ranking as current
Dragon’s Claw Chance changed from 25% to 5%; multiplier from x2 to x5 and now applies to all damage High variance is a choice, not guaranteed boss control
Giant Feather Guard-regeneration override bug fixed Test recovery again if an old build felt broken

These are official change values, not a tier list. A large conditional multiplier can be worse for a no-hit attempt than a smaller predictable effect. Compare the live description with the job: Guard break, Health conversion, survival, or Perfect Attack timing.

Control a group by camera placement

Patch 1.50 made passive enemies less likely to overwhelm Aeta and improved spawn-point detection, but a group can still punish tunnel vision. Fight from the outside. Keep the locked enemy between Aeta and open ground, leave a retreat lane behind the camera, and treat an off-screen warning as a command to stop extending.

If automatic target switching is off, move focus only after the current enemy’s action has ended. If it is on, expect the camera to react to attackers and avoid committing to a charged move while two opponents are active. Mouse players can cycle targets with the wheel after the update. Controller players should verify the live binding because the patch also changed several interaction buttons and tutorials.

The long forum encounter in Chapter VI is a useful resource drill. Multiple arrivals make it tempting to chase the newest target. Instead, finish the enemy whose Guard is already damaged, recover Aeta’s Guard near the edge, and spend Food only when the next mistake would reach Health. Entering the later Nessuno fight empty is a routing failure, not proof that a new damage build is required.

Let exploration solve part of the difficulty

Food is the combat heal, Paper buys skills, Sword Parts alter damage or timing, and Trinkets add conditional effects. Patch 1.50 makes all five pickup categories glow and saves when an item is collected. Search a cleared room before crossing a drop, then wait for the autosave indicator. That produces more combat power without forcing a grind or an unsupported best-build claim.

Spend Paper before a boss rather than carrying an unused total through repeated deaths. Early Prudentia investment can increase the margin for Health, Food, and Guard, while later branches expand combat options as they unlock. Fortitudo opens after the Chapter III boss and Celeritas after the Chapter VI amphitheater fight in the readable route evidence.

A launch article suggested deliberately dying to refill Health and conserve Food. Do not use that shortcut if the Knight achievement matters; Knight requires finishing without a death. A clean resource loop is to heal before a full Food pickup, collect the replacement, confirm the save, and enter the next fight with both gauges in a known state.

Diagnose the failed exchange before changing gear

  • No Perfect Attack confirmation: use normal attacks, remove Heavy Attacks from the test, and relearn the current Pommel window.
  • The camera stayed on the wrong enemy: check the automatic-switch option; version 1.50 no longer forces the focus by default.
  • A dodge came out but the follow-up vanished: confirm the client includes the 1.50 input-queue fixes.
  • Parry protects but does not damage Guard: base Perfect Parry is working; the skill upgrade adds offensive Guard damage.
  • An old Sword Part build feels unrelated to stance: that is expected; Blades and Pommels now work across stances.
  • A boss punish keeps trading hits: shorten it to one response and rebuild from the current animation, because all bosses were rebalanced.

Once the failed layer is identified, change one variable: target behavior, Pommel timing, stance, dodge exit, or resource level. Swapping an entire loadout after every loss hides the rule that actually caused it.
