Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Completion Roadmap: A Clean Two-Campaign Route

Kazuma Kiryu in Okinawa in Yakuza Kiwami 3

Story and boss spoilers begin below. The clean route through Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is to finish Kiryu’s campaign first, then play Mine’s shorter story, and use each campaign’s Premium Adventure state for the remaining side content. The two saves are separate, but the achievement list expects progress in both. Trying to finish every system at its first appearance creates unnecessary grinding because Kamurocho recruits, later Reapers, the Coliseum, Survival Hell upgrades, and several side-story gates do not exist yet.

This roadmap was checked on July 21, 2026 against Steam AppID 3937550, the 62-item Steam achievement set, current official announcements through patch 1.15, and saved walkthrough references covering all 12 Kiwami 3 chapters, all three Dark Ties chapters, Bad Boy Dragon, Morning Glory, Kanda Damage Control, Survival Hell, substories, Reapers, and Coliseum progression. It is a dependency plan rather than a room-by-room story transcript: follow the live objective marker for ordinary travel, and use the checkpoints below when an optional system or chapter gate stops moving.

Let chapters open the work; do not let side work halt the chapters

Every useful stopping point has a specific purpose. Clear the mandatory tutorial, establish a small amount of forward progress, then return to the story until the next dependency arrives.

Story point What becomes useful What to do before advancing
Kiwami 3, late Chapter 1 Reapers app and the first Kamurocho bounties Defeat convenient targets for money, but do not search for later Reapers; their listings are gated by both story progress and earlier wins.
Kiwami 3, Chapter 2 Ryukyu Style, Miya’s Training List, Okinawa substories, and Bad Boy Dragon Finish the forced introductions, recruit the visible Okinawa Baddies, and create functional squads. More recruits and stronger challenges arrive later.
Kiwami 3, Chapter 3 Morning Glory chores, Daddy Rank, child Bonds, garden, livestock, cooking, and the General Store Plant crops, keep animal feed stocked, and begin Bond activities. These passive supplies are more valuable now than a full same-chapter grind.
Kiwami 3, Chapter 6 Kamurocho Haisai Girls base, city recruits, and late-numbered substories Recruit around the new city and rebuild weak squad slots before pushing the Kamurocho Bad Boy Dragon arc.
Kiwami 3, start of Chapter 8 Purgatory Coliseum Clear the match ladder when Kiryu is ready. Winning every listed match is the readable unlock condition for substory 31 and Jo Amon.
Kiwami 3 finale Touto Hospital endgame Make a manual save before telling Date you are ready. The hospital run locks saving and free roam until the credits.
Dark Ties, Chapter 2 Kanda Damage Control, Karma Rank, Good Deeds, and the Underground Fight Club Reach Karma Rank 3, accept Coliseum Investigation from Zenba, and clear the shortened Survival Hell tutorial.
Dark Ties finale Karma Rank 6 and the second Bro Time event Collect Zenba’s rank rewards, buy abilities and recovery stock, save, then use the car outside Nishikiyama Family HQ.

Kiwami 3 has three progress tracks, and each solves a different shortage

Downtown Ryukyu street in Yakuza Kiwami 3
Downtown Ryukyu is where squad recruitment, Morning Glory supplies, substories, and early Reaper progress begin to overlap.

Bad Boy Dragon: recruit for the missing role, not just a larger number

Bad Boy Dragon begins late in Chapter 2 and expands to Kamurocho in Chapter 6. New recruits raise Baddie Spirit and Infamy Rank, so map recruitment is both roster building and the mode’s level gate. A battle that feels numerically impossible is usually a signal to leave the base, collect the available city recruits, finish a linked substory, or raise an existing unit before retrying.

A squad has a leader and four additional Baddies. Build around jobs: keep enough attackers to finish priority targets, one durable unit to absorb pressure, and one source of healing or recovery. Raw Spirit can grant an opening morale edge, but it does not rescue a group with no sustain or no way to remove a dangerous specialist. When poison units appear during later Kamurocho battles, redirect Kiryu immediately; leaving the poison icon active drains the whole field while the AI remains occupied elsewhere.

Use Rallies to bring a strong late recruit up to speed instead of replaying low-value fights with an underleveled unit. Save shop spending for permanent bike and uniform progress or a weapon that fixes a real squad problem. The associated maximum-upgrade achievement requires the bike and uniform lines, so random purchases do not substitute for those tracks.

The Kamurocho story ends after the Three Tormentors and the Final Showdown against Hiromu, but that is not the Amon finish. Defying Fate also needs the Amon Bikers, which sit behind the optional Bad Boy Dragon challenge set. Treat them as post-story cleanup: both campaigns and other activities can award stronger Baddies, and the saved guide specifically recommends high-level Gold units for that fight.

Morning Glory: begin the supply chain in Chapter 3

Morning Glory’s five Cooking Requests are rank gates, not five isolated recipes. They open at Daddy Ranks 1 through 5 in this order: Dragon Curry, Dragon Champloo, Dragon Hamburg Steak, Dragon Sushi, and Haruka’s Surprise Party. Later dishes ask for much larger quantities of crops, animal products, fish, and pantry items. Planting, expanding soil, feeding the cow and chicken, and collecting catches early turns the final request into a check-in instead of a late farming wall.

Keep the two currencies separate in your planning. The General Store uses Morning Glory Funds, so draining it on convenient ingredients can prevent the request loop that raises Store Rank and unlocks more stock. Sell surplus production, complete neighborhood requests, and buy only the ingredient that removes the next cooking gate.

Daddy Rank and the children’s Bonds are also different tracks. Activities raise the rank and a participating child’s Bond; gifts can target a particular child. Max Bond opens that child’s Family Time event. There are eight children and eight such events, while the Morning Glory story itself ends only after the Rank 5 cooking request. If one achievement is missing, check whether the deficit is a child event, a cooking threshold, or a supply item before repeating unrelated minigames.

Coliseum, Reapers, and Jo Amon are parallel cleanup lines

The Reapers app appears near the end of Chapter 1. Later targets need a certain number of earlier defeats and later story chapters, so clear visible bounties as travel money but stop when the app has no valid next target. After every listed Reaper is down, the last challenger calls Kiryu to Millennium Tower at night. The achievement threshold is 20 Reapers; the final bounty is a separate end-of-line fight.

The Coliseum opens at the start of Chapter 8 after the Majima sequence. Bronze clears lead to Silver, then Gold and the Championship match. Exhibition matches allow either style, Street Fights force Dragon of Dojima, and Weapon Master forces Ryukyu Style. This is why Miya training is not optional preparation if Ryukyu weapon strings still feel unreliable.

Do not attach an extra Reaper requirement to Jo Amon without checking the live unlock. The readable substory page lists all Coliseum matches as the gate for substory 31. Once the message arrives, stock recovery items, finish Miya’s Master Promotion Exam for Tiger Drop, and use the taxi destination to enter the fight. Amon’s position tells you the response: a side teleport signals gunfire to evade; a move to the center signals the vortex that can be guarded. His close-range phases reward short counters, not long strings into his retaliation.

The Kiwami 3 finale is a resource relay, not one boss

At New Serena, save before telling Date you are ready. You can still travel between Kamurocho and Okinawa and change the time before this confirmation. Once accepted, expect an extended hospital climb with no save or return to free roam until the credits.

  1. Hospital entrance: fight in small pockets instead of pulling the entire armed crowd. Remove chainsaw, blade, and ranged threats before spending Heat on ordinary bodies.
  2. First CIA Agent: keep the Dragon Gauge. He blocks and answers extended strings, so quickstep, punish briefly, and disengage. Pick up the Staminan items on the route to the elevator.
  3. Second CIA Agent: gun alerts matter more than damage. After the health transition, avoid the shot sequence and use the reserved Dragon Gauge when the safe window opens.
  4. Rooftop approach: remove assault-rifle and bazooka users before the stronger melee enemy. Collect the Toughness item near the final elevator.
  5. Mine: let him start the exchange, quickstep the string, and answer with a short counter. His healing windows punish panic offense; use heavy pressure or Dragon Gauge to limit the recovery, then disengage again when his red-aura rush begins.

After the credits, save the cleared state and reload it for Premium Adventure. That is the efficient point for the Amon Bikers, missing Morning Glory ingredients, late Reapers, remaining substories, clothing, and any activity counter that does not improve the story route.

Dark Ties converts side work into story currency

Yoshitaka Mine in Dark Ties
Mine’s campaign is shorter, but Chapter 2 will not advance until Kanda’s Karma and the fight-club investigation both reach their required states.

Chapter 1 is a direct introduction to Mine’s boxing-based combat. The real routing begins in Chapter 2, where Kanda Damage Control becomes a mandatory progression system. Requests pay money and Reputation Points; Reputation fills the Karma Rank meter. Reach Karma Rank 3, Kinda Trashy, but do not assume the number alone clears the chapter.

At Rank 2, return to Zenba at Nishikiyama Family HQ and accept Coliseum Investigation. This Good Deed is the route into the Underground Fight Club and a reduced Survival Hell course. Ring the required Progress Gong after defeating its keeper, exit to the Master Keeper, and complete the run. Then report back, collect rank rewards, and trigger the first Bro Time event after Rank 3. If the story marker still refuses to move, the missing dependency is usually the quest report or Bro Time, not more random Reputation.

Survival Hell rewards controlled extraction

A normal Survival Hell stage has three phases before its final keeper. Each phase asks you to reach a Progress Gong within the stage timer, while side paths hide permanent Gospels, equippable Survival Weapons, and recruitable Mercenaries. Chests are therefore upgrades, not mandatory proof of a successful run.

  • Early attempt: take nearby chests, ring the next Gong while the timer is safe, and learn where the exit path branches.
  • Weak build: leave through a manhole and end the run voluntarily. Extracted items remain; dying before extraction does not offer that safety.
  • Next entry: equip a Survival Weapon, hire only the Mercenaries the budget supports, and let permanent Gospels improve the next push.
  • Late stage: stop detouring once the clock threatens the phase. A missing chest can be recovered on another run; a failed run wastes the current route.

The Hells Arena shop can fill specific gaps, but later Gospel copies require earlier shop copies first. Buy an extra weapon or mercenary slot only when the current limit is the reason a run fails. Damage Control is the natural funding loop: rank rewards buy Mine’s abilities and fight-club upgrades, while those upgrades make the harder requests and Survival stages safer.

Dark Ties has two hard story gates

Chapter 2 needs both Karma Rank 3 and the Coliseum Investigation chain. Later in that chapter, the story asks you to pass time in Hell’s Arena; complete either a Survival Hell run or Brawler Hell round before returning to the car for the docks sequence.

The finale raises the requirement to Karma Rank 6 and the second Bro Time event. Collect Zenba’s reward at HQ and turn that money into abilities, plus Health and Heat recovery. The car outside Nishikiyama Family HQ is the final confirmation: once boarded, saving and Kamurocho access are locked until the ending. Preserve Heat and Shackled Hearts through the construction-site groups so Ikari receives the full Dark Awakening window after his aura breaks.

Reload the cleared Dark Ties save for Premium Adventure. Finish all five Survival Hell stages for To Hell and Back, raise Karma for the remaining Bro Time moments, and do at least seven Good Deeds for Dark Hero. These goals reinforce one another; grinding minigames first does not solve the money, ability, or dungeon gates.

Use achievements as state checks, not as the route itself

Missing result Check this state first Do not repeat
Bad Boy Dragon story achievement Okinawa chapter, Chapter 6 Kamurocho base, then every Tormentor and Final Showdown Low-tier Rumbles that add no recruit, rank, or upgrade
Defying Fate Jo Amon from all Coliseum matches, plus the optional Amon Bikers challenge line Reapers as a supposed Jo Amon prerequisite
World’s Best Dad Daddy Rank 5, all earlier Cooking Requests, and Haruka’s Surprise Party ingredients Bond activity for a child already at maximum
They Sure Grow Up Fast! Maximum Bond and the Family Time event for each of eight children Cooking once the Daddy Rank track is already complete
Dark Ties story marker Karma 3 plus Coliseum Investigation in Chapter 2; Karma 6 plus Bro Time 2 in the finale Unreported requests after the numeric rank is already met
To Hell and Back Every Survival Hell stage cleared on the current Dark Ties save Brawler Hell or a tutorial clear as a substitute
The Life The final chapter achievement on both separate campaigns Side cleanup on only one save

If a prerequisite appears complete but the state will not update, compare the problem with the 1.13 and 1.14 fixes before replaying it. Chapter 9 should recover after updating and saving/loading in Kamurocho; the fixed Soba Delivery conflict and Survival Hell first-clear block likewise should not be diagnosed from launch-version advice. For an unfixed mismatch, preserve the manual save before the relevant confirmation and trust the current objective, app listing, and achievement state over an old step order.
