Scarlet Hollow Episode 5 Guide: Forbidden Wing, Tabitha, and the Farm

Wayne reaching toward the player inside Scarlet Manor in Scarlet Hollow

Episode 5 spoilers begin immediately. Friday is not a puzzle with one clean victory screen. It checks the person you built across four earlier days, then asks which damaged relationship, missing clue, arrest, sacrifice, or compromise that version of you can still carry. A route that reaches the Tremaine farm is not automatically a good route, and an arrest is not automatically a failed run.

This guide is for the player who wants to understand those checks without flattening Scarlet Hollow into a single choice transcript. It follows the current Episode 5 structure from the Forbidden Wing through Tabitha’s office, the farm, and Kaneeka’s final decision. It also marks the few places where a manual save preserves a genuinely different branch.

Friday grades the history you brought into it

Before loading Episode 5, decide what you are trying to preserve. “See the best ending” is too vague for a story where two traits create 21 starting builds and earlier choices decide who is alive, who trusts you, who remembers whom, and which evidence exists. Pick a Friday job instead.

Friday job World state that matters What not to optimize at the same time
Blind story run Your original traits and relationships Do not consult achievement instructions before every line. Make branch saves, then let the first outcome stand.
Solo Tabitha confrontation Whether Stella is absent, your bond with Tabitha, police attention, and the evidence you can uncover Do not also force the Stella-and-Tabitha office branch; it is a different scene.
Farm intervention run Companion, Duke and Franklin states, Tabitha’s office result, earlier curse, and physical condition Do not assume the person who arrives with you will make the same choice on every save.
Kaneeka recovery run Your relationship with Kaneeka, memory anchors, Mystical access, Tabitha’s priorities, and who lost years Do not treat the farm creature decision as the last meaningful branch.
Episode 5 achievement cleanup A save at each major branch gate Do not restart Monday for an outcome that only needs a Friday reload.

The most useful pre-Friday audit has six questions:

  • Who survived Monday? Duke’s presence can change who warns Deputy Franklin at the farm. Gretchen’s survival changes Stella content and some Talk to Animals routes.
  • What happened in the mine? The rescued teens, the strike, what Isaacs knows, and police suspicion can alter Friday’s town access and arrest timing.
  • Who went to the haunt? Tabitha’s involvement and the Episode 3 sacrifice affect both your bond and who is physically weakened later.
  • How did the clinic end? Reese, Doctor Kelly, Stella, and Tabitha can enter Friday in very different states.
  • Did Stella and Tabitha reconnect? Their Episode 4 state decides whether confronting Tabitha is a solo evidence scene or a separate joint scene.
  • What does your character remember about Kaneeka? Romance, Mystical knowledge, and earlier tea-related states can become anchors after the farm vision.

Book Smart plus Street Smart gives a solo Tabitha run a wide evidence set and useful conversation options, but it is not a universal “best build.” Mystical is the clearest tool for the supernatural endgame. Keen Eye has a major farm intervention and is explicitly scheduled for buffs in the Rumors Update. Powerful Build opens physical access and contests, but using strength as an answer to a loaded gun is a fatal mistake. Talk to Animals carries unique witness information forward. Hot changes relationship access and can make certain solo routes harder to isolate.

The seven trait choices shown at the start of Scarlet Hollow
Choose two traits for a role, not for total coverage. Episode 5 rewards coherent earlier choices more than a hacked all-traits save.

Pack the Forbidden Wing before spending the town phase

Friday can begin at Stella’s house or inside the hidden part of Scarlet Manor. That changes who accompanies you and how some physical obstacles are handled, but both starts feed into the same investigation. The safe rule is simple: treat the Wing as an evidence loadout. Follow Wayne’s trail only after opening every room the current build allows.

Stop What to inspect Why it matters later
Ornate entry and painting Known carving locations and the missing location Establishes that the Friday panic is part of the seal chain, not an unrelated haunting.
Enoch’s office Desk, vials, family photograph, carving material, and every trait-gated compartment Book Smart can identify route information; Street Smart can expose hidden storage; Mystical can reinterpret the vials. These become evidence, not just lore.
Edwardine’s room Greeting cards and the closet The cards from Tabitha’s father are the most consistently useful emotional evidence in the solo office scene.
Nursery Alexandra’s books and drawings Clarifies the family history and the “boy in the wall,” though it is usually weaker leverage than records, cards, or carvings.
Ritual room Floor covering, curtains, symbols, and sacrificial space Mystical or Keen Eye can expose additional context that changes what you understand about Enoch’s work.
Cell and locked room The missing doll, the cell, and its physical details Connects Wayne’s imprisonment claims to the physical Estate and gives the office confrontation a concrete subject.
Piano room Follow the music and let Wayne speak before leaving Unlocks information that can support a later allegation. It also branches Wayne achievements, so save before accepting or refusing any intimate choice.

If the boxes block Edwardine’s room, check whether your starting companion or Powerful Build creates another access option. Do not invent an item you never obtained: the office menu only knows what this save actually examined. An older or physically weakened player character may also see fewer interactions. That is a world-state limitation, not proof that the room vanished.

Make a manual save after exhausting the Wing but before leaving the Estate. This is the cheapest point from which to test:

  • following or ignoring the piano;
  • bringing Stella into a Wayne scene or asking her to wait;
  • choosing a town contact;
  • confronting Tabitha alone, with Stella, or not at all;
  • taking a route that advances directly to the farm.

Leaving the Estate starts a routing budget

The post-Estate menu can offer some mixture of finding the Witch, looking for the next carving, confronting Tabitha, seeking the police, visiting a trusted person, or trying to leave town. The exact list depends on evidence and earlier relationships. These are not six interchangeable scenes. They spend a limited amount of Friday and determine who can reach the Tremaine farm with you.

The live build now marks or confirms choices that advance the episode. Read that warning literally. If an option points to the farm, do the optional character or evidence scene first. The July 30 update will add a church stop and expand this middle section, so an older guide that sends you immediately to the farm may skip newly available material after the patch.

Arrival shape What it gives you Risk to plan around
Avery Direct context for Julius and a route that can reach the property before several other actors The basement can move quickly; Keen Eye and your earlier relationship with Avery matter when the creature demands a decision.
Tabitha Her office outcome carries directly into the farm, where she may support, oppose, or override you Breaking Point, an impasse, and an unchanged relationship do not produce the same Tabitha.
Doctor Kelly A medical witness and a path into the core confrontation after the police situation changes What she suggests before the farm depends on whether your save already identified the next carving.
Stella A relationship-specific journey and unique tone around the same central crisis Her presence can replace the solo Tabitha evidence scene earlier in the day.
Arrested A valid route in which Wayne can open the patrol car and Doctor Kelly can join the approach You lose some town freedom. Being arrested is a branch cost, not a game over.

The Tabitha scene is not a list of correct answers

The famous office confrontation applies only when you meet Tabitha without Stella. If Stella is already there because the two reconciled, stop using a solo-confrontation checklist; the available achievements and emotional problem are different.

In the solo scene, think in three phases rather than memorizing one exact dialogue order:

  1. Establish why you are there. Explain the Forbidden Wing and Wayne before jumping to murder accusations. Barging in or using physical force turns a conversation into a threat.
  2. Spend the evidence that lowers resistance. The father’s cards are the most reliable opener when present. Carving locations, medical records, the cell, Enoch’s map or drawings, and Wayne’s confinement claims can then build a case. Weak curiosities such as family trivia should not consume the whole scene.
  3. Make one conclusion that your evidence supports. A Book Smart/Street Smart character may have a strong combined accusation. Other builds can use the boy in the wall, falsified records, confinement, or the Estate’s living presence. The useful accusation is the one your run earned, not the most dramatic sentence in somebody else’s menu.

Read Tabitha’s responses as diagnostics. The cards can reveal whether she is still emotionally reachable. A reference to playing detective means her remaining patience is thin. A line about you hating her or believing she is a terrible person signals that the confrontation has reached the emotional core. A flat declaration that the discussion is over points toward an impasse. These signals are more robust than a copied click order because previous episodes have already changed her starting position.

Tabitha confronting the player inside her mine office in Scarlet Hollow
The office is a state check disguised as an argument. Evidence, patience, police timing, and four days of trust arrive before your first line.
Outcome How the scene feels Practical route
Breaking Point Tabitha’s defenses collapse and she cries Bring a workable relationship, use efficient evidence, and end with a supported allegation. This is not available from every save.
Worlds Apart You reach an impasse without pushing her into a full defensive reaction Use some evidence but fail to break through completely. This middle state can be strategically useful at the farm.
Don’t Move You antagonize her faster than you lower her guard Harsh accusations, bad prior trust, or provocative disclosures can trigger the gun-and-panic response.
Fatal rush The player turns the standoff into a physical attack Choosing the Powerful Build rush can get the player shot. This is a real hard fail; reload unless the achievement is the point.

Do not overfit the pre-update advice. The announced Rumors rebalance will make the strongest office strategies weaker and the weakest more viable. It will also give Keen Eye clearer warnings before major relationship checks. The durable lesson is to collect evidence, watch Tabitha’s state, and make a conclusion your character can justify.

The farm tests who can still control the crisis

Every approach converges on the Tremaine property, but not on the same room state. Sheriff Hugby, Deputy Franklin, Duke, Avery, Julius, Bo, Doctor Kelly, Tabitha, and your companion can arrive, act, or be incapacitated in different combinations. That is why no single instruction such as “attack” or “wait” is safe across all saves.

Use this order instead:

  1. Identify who is present and capable. Duke can warn Franklin in some histories. An injured Franklin cannot produce the same shoot-out. Tabitha may take initiative if she is present.
  2. Take the available exploration turns. Current patches added extra orientation before the basement timer and moved the major trait save so players would not end the scene by accident. Learn Julius’s claim, Avery’s position, and the creature’s immediate demand before committing.
  3. Choose who bears the cost. Waiting, attacking, redirecting the feeding, or letting another character decide can protect one person by endangering another. There is no verified state that simply saves everybody in the basement.
  4. Separate the basement choice from the vision. Resolving Julius, Avery, and Bo advances the episode into the drowning/vision sequence. It does not settle Kaneeka’s fate.

Keen Eye can expose a high-value intervention on the Avery route. Tabitha’s decision at the farm depends on whether you broke her down, reached an impasse, remained close without changing her worldview, and who she values more in that moment. Powerful Build can affect physical contests, but strength only changes who wins a struggle; it does not make the underlying moral cost disappear.

Kaneeka’s final branch reads memory, trust, and sacrifice

After the vision, first determine whether your character can still recognize that something is wrong. A strong relationship with Kaneeka helps persuade her to resist Sybil. Mystical can identify supernatural inconsistencies and open a unique way to pull the scheme apart. Earlier tea, romance, and memory states affect how much remains available to the player.

If Tabitha is present, her response is not fixed. She can prioritize you, Kaneeka, or the destruction of the family pattern based on the office result and the relationship you carried in. The Episode 3 curse also matters because a character who lost years is physically disadvantaged. Powerful Build can offset part of that disadvantage when the conflict becomes physical.

When attempting a specific ending, check four signals before choosing:

  • Does Kaneeka trust you enough to question Sybil?
  • Can your player character remember Kaneeka clearly?
  • Did Tabitha leave the office changed, at an impasse, or untouched?
  • Which participant is weakened, and who has Powerful Build?

If one answer is wrong, reloading only the last dialogue will not rewrite the world state. Move back to the branch save that controls that condition.

A small save tree beats a perfect-choice transcript

Steam identifies Scarlet Hollow as supporting save-anytime play. Use that freedom deliberately. A practical Episode 5 tree needs five anchors, not a new file before every line:

  1. Friday start: preserves the inherited Episodes 1-4 world state.
  2. Before leaving the Forbidden Wing: preserves room evidence, the Wayne branch, and companion choices.
  3. Before the first farm-progress confirmation: preserves the town contact and arrest/companion route.
  4. Before entering the solo Tabitha confrontation: makes Breaking Point, Worlds Apart, Don’t Move, and the fatal rush cheap to compare.
  5. Before the basement commitment and again before Kaneeka: separates the creature outcome from the final supernatural choice.

For achievement cleanup, group runs by world state rather than by individual trophy:

  • a solo-Tabitha save with strong evidence;
  • a Stella-present office save;
  • a close-Kaneeka save with strong memory anchors;
  • a weak-Kaneeka or altered-memory save;
  • a farm save that changes Duke, Franklin, companion, or Tabitha intervention.

This is enough to clean up most Friday branches without pretending all 219 current Steam achievements belong in one run. A separate all-traits modification guide was deliberately excluded: activating extra traits changes the intended state checks and makes legitimate route diagnosis harder.

When your menu disagrees with an older guide

  • No expected Estate clue: confirm the required trait, companion, physical age, and room interaction. Some routes substitute help; others simply lock the clue for that build.
  • Police arrive too early: Friday reads suspicion accumulated in earlier episodes. February balance patches made Franklin more forgiving, so update the game before copying a launch-week timing workaround.
  • No solo Tabitha evidence scene: Stella’s Episode 4 relationship state may have placed her in the office. That branch cannot be repaired by choosing a different first accusation.
  • A farm option ends exploration sooner than expected: read the live progress confirmation. Official patches have changed which options are marked as advancing the episode.
  • A guide promises an exact Tabitha sequence: check its date. The office has already received balance changes, and another explicit rebalance is scheduled for July 30.
  • An achievement does not trigger: verify the full Episode 5 update is installed, then reproduce the observable condition on an unmodified two-trait save. Do not use the title or a guide comment as proof that an uncertain hidden condition was met.

The useful question on Friday is not “Which option wins?” It is “Which earlier fact is this option testing?” Once you can name the relationship, clue, suspicion state, sacrifice, or trait behind the menu, Episode 5 stops looking arbitrary. Its failures become routes you can understand, preserve, and revisit on purpose.
