Ore Factory Squad Beginner Guide: Build a Working Factory by Level 5

Ore Factory Squad factory floor with machines and product lines

If Ore Factory Squad shows the material you need somewhere in the warehouse but the next machine, sale, or contract cannot see it, that item is probably recorded in the wrong inventory state. Raw resources inside Factory Storage, finished goods on a physical pallet, tracked stock inside the marked storage area, and products committed to a Pallet Packer contract are four different ledgers. Buying another machine does not move an item between them.

This route builds one checkable loop from the Greenpark tutorial to the first Level 5 decision. It uses the full Steam release as observed during launch week and checks official changes through v1.0.4 on July 22, 2026. Prices, payouts, unlock timing, and balance can move; where a number is not necessary, the guide tells you which live screen or machine state to verify instead.

Read four inventory ledgers before building anything else

Use this chain whenever progress stops:

  1. Mine: collect the requested material and pack it into a mining box for transport.
  2. Import: unload that box through the Sorting Station. The resource should now appear in Factory Storage.
  3. Process: select the exact input and recipe on the correct machine, provide an output pallet, set a quantity, and start the queue.
  4. Track: move the finished-product pallet fully inside the warehouse’s marked storage area when Stock Sell or a stock check needs to see it.
  5. Commit: for a Contract, activate the accepted order inside the Pallet Packer and feed the exact requested finished product into its input.
  6. Deliver: clear both output positions, load the completed contract cargo, and finish the handoff at the Delivery Gate.

Each arrow has its own proof. Seeing Copper in a truck proves that you mined Copper; it does not prove the Smelting Furnace can use it. Seeing Clay Blocks on a pallet proves that production ran; it does not satisfy an order for Clay Bricks. When something fails, return to the last state you can actually verify instead of restarting the entire factory.

Leave the first dig after the tutorial’s twelve items

At the warehouse, complete the setup in the order the opening tasks expose it: restore power, open the garage, create the company at the computer, open Properties, buy the offered Greenpark Lot, collect the truck keys, and drive to the marked property. The exact deposit pattern is procedural, so another player’s tunnel is not a map for yours.

The first useful stopping rule is not “fill the truck.” It is collect the twelve items requested by the tutorial, pack them, and return. That return advances the factory lesson and exposes the Sorting Station and the tutorial’s first Stone Crusher. Digging a much larger load before this handoff gives you more material but no better way to process it.

Greenpark is a training ground for the full loop. Stop the first excavation when the tutorial can move forward; return later with a named resource target.

Once the factory loop works, use a different turnaround test. Keep mining only while the Detector or exposed layer points to a material needed by the current queue, the truck still has useful capacity, and the return trip will happen before a time-sensitive business task. Go back when you have the contract quantity, fatigue is degrading the trip, cargo is full, or daytime is needed for an offer or property purchase.

Make one Sand pallet prove the starter factory

Unload the first mining box into the Sorting Station and wait until its contents appear in Factory Storage. This is the import boundary. Machines draw their raw inputs from that internal store; leaving the box on the truck, beside the sorter, or on the warehouse floor does not complete it.

Use the free Stone Crusher as a controlled test:

  1. confirm Sandstone is visible in Factory Storage;
  2. open the Stone Crusher and select Sandstone as the input;
  3. choose Sand as the output recipe;
  4. place or assign a valid product pallet at the output;
  5. enter a small quantity, press Start, and watch the first Sand appear;
  6. move that pallet entirely inside the marked storage zone.

The small batch is intentional. It proves import, recipe selection, output clearance, and tracked stock without tying up every basic resource in one product. Open Stock Sell during its available business window and check whether Sand appears. A partial pallet can be recognized; you do not need to fill it just to test tracking.

If the computer still reports no stock, move the existing pallet before producing again. A pallet that is visually inside the warehouse can remain untracked when one edge crosses the storage boundary. Keep it flat, clear of another pallet, and completely inside the marked area, then close and reopen the stock screen.

Choose a contract by its slowest missing product

The largest displayed payment is a poor beginner filter. Before making an offer, write down every exact product, its quantity, the deadline, the finished stock already tracked, the machine required for what is missing, and the raw resource that feeds that machine. The order is safe only if its slowest side is realistic.

Contract state Decision Why
Every finished product is already on tracked pallets Strong candidate The remaining work is packing, loading, and delivery.
One short machine queue is missing Usually workable Verify the input and output before negotiating.
Raw material exists, but another processing stage is required Time the full chain Clay Block is not Clay Brick; Limestone Block is not Cement.
A new property, license, or machine is required Skip for now The advertised payout does not fund a route you cannot complete before the timer.

Once the offer is accepted, activate that contract again inside the Pallet Packer. Acceptance at the computer does not automatically configure the machine. Bring the correct finished-product pallet to its input and verify that the relevant counter moves. An oversized pallet is usable, but any units beyond the order need room at Excess Output. The completed shipment also needs a clear Contract Output.

When Output blocked appears, do not change recipes first. Remove a finished contract load, move an excess pallet, clear any pallet overlapping the output footprint, and straighten the input pallet. Only after both output areas are physically open should you investigate the active order.

Forklift carrying products toward the Delivery Gate in Ore Factory Squad
The contract is not complete when the counters fill. Keep a clear forklift lane from Contract Output to the truck and Delivery Gate.

Check the remaining days before using End Day. A captured launch-week order with one day left expired when the day advanced. Production and warehouse work can continue after dark, while some offers, sales, and property transactions use daytime windows. The official v1.0.2 fix list specifically included the Delivery Door’s night-time contract call, so treat each visible action separately instead of assuming that every contract function stops at sunset.

Spend only when you can name the bottleneck

An upgrade should shorten one full cycle, not merely improve a number. Walk through the current job from terrain to delivery and spend where time is actually being lost:

  • Shovel: ordinary ground is taking longer than exposing the target.
  • Pickaxe: the route is open, but breaking the revealed deposit is slow.
  • Detector: the required material exists on the property, yet random digging no longer finds it reliably.
  • Backpack: the bag repeatedly fills before the truck or factory can use the load. Extra capacity does not help when the missing problem is location or processing.
  • Mining Lift: repeated vertical travel and box extraction are now slower than the digging itself.
  • License and machine: the matching raw input is already available, the finished product has a current use, and enough cash remains to finish the whole chain.

Do not buy an isolated unlock. A license without its machine, a furnace without metal in Factory Storage, or an automation component without a complete pallet route converts cash into a new inactive object. Keep enough working money for the next contract’s raw material, property, and transport needs.

Build a shaft you can reverse before adding depth

Open Properties → Active Property → Remaining Resources before placing a permanent Mining Lift. Build when useful material remains in Mid or Deep layers and you expect several trips through the same shaft. If the current target is still near the surface or the property is almost exhausted, a short temporary route may cost less time.

Place the Lift Head along a property edge with diggable terrain below, an open ladder face, room for boxes near the surface, and a short path to the truck. Excavate one section, attach one Extension, and test the same connection downward and upward. Only then add the next section.

A working cargo cycle is:

Pack the load when carrying capacity is reached, send that box upward from the Lift’s lower control, climb by ladder, then recover the transferred cargo beside the surface Head for the truck.

Do not infer that the player rides with cargo or that every loose object can be sent. The documented route uses packed mining boxes while the player climbs separately. If the ladder reports a blockage, clear the ladder face, the joint between components, both landings, and enough room to step away. Test both directions before buying or placing more Extensions.

On Forest, a placement failure can also be version-related: official v1.0.2 fixed collision that could prevent a Mining Lift from being placed there. Update the client first, then distinguish a real obstruction from an old collision bug.

Do not remove Greenpark because only the surface is empty

Remaining Resources separates Surface, Mid, and Deep. An exhausted top layer does not prove the property has no Limestone, Clay, Sandstone, Coal, or Stone left below. Keep Greenpark while those materials feed current products and the Lift or Detector makes the remaining deposits practical.

Switch properties when the next chain needs a resource the active preview does not list, not when a different address merely sounds promising. In one documented launch-week save, a Westmont listing remained another basic-material property even though its neighborhood name included “Copper.” The Forest listing was the practical move for Copper and Iron. Property contents are generated and balance has already received official adjustments, so your live preview outranks that example.

Only one property could be active in the tested opening. Before removing Greenpark:

  1. read all three Remaining Resources layers;
  2. identify the exact resource blocking the next product;
  3. recover packed boxes, tools, and valuable site items;
  4. return the last load through the Sorting Station;
  5. retire the plot that is still marked Active;
  6. purchase the new site during its available business window;
  7. bring back one test box before committing to another deep Lift.

This avoids the most expensive property mistake: dismantling a functioning source of basic inputs, paying for another similar plot, and still having no metal for the new production stage.

Prove the first metal chain before shopping at Level 5

Launch-week captures placed the first Copper and Iron processing route on the Level 4 unlock screen, then showed Metal Processing License #2, the Fabrication Station, Warehouse Automation, and other expansion choices at Level 5. Treat those levels as a current-client checkpoint rather than a permanent promise; the official roadmap already schedules XP, pricing, contract, belt, storage, and filtering changes.

Before purchasing metal equipment, return one Copper or Iron box from a property whose preview listed that resource. Import its contents at the Sorting Station, then look for the raw metal in Factory Storage. Only then activate the first Metal Processing license and place the Smelting Furnace shown by your unlock screen.

At the furnace, choose either Copper Ingot or Iron Ingot, verify the matching raw input, provide an unobstructed output pallet, set the queue, and watch the first correct Ingot appear. The machine does not select the new recipe merely because a different metal entered storage. Afterward, move the finished Ingot pallet into the marked storage area if a stock screen or contract needs to recognize it.

Stop the diagnosis at the recipe you selected. The first Smelting Furnace route produces Ingots; it does not prove that Plate production is broken when no Plate recipe appears. Plates belong to a later production stage. Likewise, reaching Level 5 does not make Warehouse Automation the automatic next purchase. Metal processing is the right branch when an Ingot requirement is blocking you; automation is worth considering when manual pallet movement is the measured bottleneck and you can afford the full working setup.

Use the last missing proof when the loop stalls

Symptom Last proof to inspect First repair
A machine says material is missing The raw item appears in Factory Storage Run the mining box through the Sorting Station; then recheck input, recipe, quantity, output, and Start.
Stock Sell cannot see a product The finished pallet is fully inside marked storage Reposition the existing pallet and reopen the computer screen.
A contract counter will not move The pallet label exactly matches the requested processing stage Finish the missing conversion instead of supplying a related raw or intermediate item.
Pallet Packer says Output blocked Contract Output and Excess Output are both empty Move completed, excess, or overlapping pallets before changing the active contract.
The Detector direction keeps changing The shortest prior distance and current elevation Return to the better reading, change height, and scan again before digging a long horizontal tunnel.
The Lift ladder is blocked The current Head-to-Extension connection works both ways Clear faces, joints, landings, and step-off space; do not add another section yet.
A replacement property cannot be bought No old property remains Active Recover cargo, remove the active plot, and retry in the available purchase window.
The furnace cannot use mined metal Copper or Iron is visible in Factory Storage Import the box through the sorter before touching the license or recipe again.
An invite-only lobby code no longer works The client is updated to v1.0.4 Use a direct Steam invite; official v1.0.4 still listed lobby codes as temporarily disabled.

Your opening is stable when one box can travel from a property into Factory Storage, one machine produces the intended item, a finished pallet becomes tracked stock, one correctly chosen contract survives the Pallet Packer and Delivery Gate, and the next purchase answers an observed bottleneck. That state is more valuable than owning every Level 5 unlock at once.
