The seven-chapter story in FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time rarely hides the next marker; it hides the condition that makes the marker useful. The first island asks for a Life and 10,000 Dosh, the middle chapters repeatedly turn a Strangeling back into a specialist, and the finale tests six crafting disciplines in one dependency chain. If you rush only the orange arrow, those requirements arrive as sudden detours.
This route follows the main quest from the first Life license through the Interfere Gear and the two final battles. It emphasizes departure checks, restoration gates, the few navigation puzzles that can loop, and the exact proof that a chapter is ready to advance. Optional collectible sweeps, permanent Life rankings, gift codes, and post-story Snoozaland progression are outside its scope.
Leave Chapter 1 with more than a paid debt
After the ship, the Dark Dragon attack, and the combat tutorial, the Mysteria route sends you from King Ranoah to the Guild Office. Farmer and Artist are story unlocks, so choose among the other twelve Lives. The opening choice is not permanent: official material confirms Quick Life Change, and additional licenses become available soon after the first tutorial.
Choose for the obstacle immediately in front of you:
- Gathering first makes the 10,000-Dosh debt easy to understand because every ore, log, or fish has value, but you should add a Combat Life before treating the field as safe.
- Combat first gives you a proper weapon and a cleaner enemy route. Pay the debt with requests and saleable materials rather than grinding weak monsters for tiny returns.
- Crafting first is viable, but buying inputs can turn the debt into a longer loop. Gather what the tutorial asks for and avoid speculative recipe purchases until Auntie Anne is paid.
Meet that Life’s Master, finish its introductory challenge, report the completed challenge, and claim Fledgling rank. The detector is the rank change, not merely reaching the Master. Ranoah then sends you back for a Life-specific Dragonut task. Check the quest entry because the required action changes with the selected Life; there is no universal item route to memorize.
Auntie Anne’s 10,000 Dosh is the first place to avoid a false grind. The named requests Feelings Sway, Emotions Weigh and Ranoah’s Treasure provide large payments, and the story has already paid you for earlier progress. Finish those requests, sell expendable gathering results if necessary, then return to the Guild Office. Do not sell the only copy of a tool or empty the bag of every crafting input just to make the number turn over.
Approaching Skelegon after the debt is the chapter’s temporary departure point. Before confirming, acquire a Combat license, stock recovery items, clear any nearby request whose reward solves an obvious shortage, and check that every Life tutorial reward has been collected. You will return later, but not on demand during the opening stretch of Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 turns one objective into three travel systems
Follow the message toward the Depths, enter the excavation, and let the story move you into Ginormosia. Activate the nearby eye tower before roaming. Its first job is to reveal the surrounding desert; without that map state, exploration produces discoveries but no reliable route back to the quest.
The dark sand is not a damage check. On foot it remains hazardous, so turn away from the blocked crossing and speak to The Don. The Soothing Water chain introduces Phantom Buddies: recruit Colin’s Phantom, defeat the Wandering Haniwa that holds the water, return it to The Don, and take the camel. Rest at the camp before the fight if the tutorial encounters have already spent HP or SP. The camel, not extra defense, is the proof that the scorching route is open.
Across the sand, trace the dropped belongings until the route reaches Jo’ee Shrine. Clear the enemies inside and recover Kunugi in her Odd Dresser form. Continue to Skelegon and the second tower. That meeting unlocks the practical commute between the present island, previously reached towns, Ginormosia, and the time gate. From this point onward, a quest that says “return” usually means use the map network, not repeat the entire desert.

Back in the Depths, inspect the hidden room and push forward until the Goddess Statue explains Strangeling restoration. Establish the house at Base Camp, rest, then speak with Trip and Kunugi. The chapter ends by sending you into the past for a Miner who can solve Edward’s next obstruction.
Duglas makes Base Camp a progression machine in Chapter 3
Travel to Warren Willow Hollow and approach it around the left side of the kingdom. Inside, stay on the marked tunnel through Rem’s room and the enemy encounter until Meralda reveals what happened to Duglas. The important pickup is not random ore; it is Duglas in Strangeling form.
Returning to the Goddess Statue exposes the 100-Celestia’s-Gift cost. Do not wait for flowers to regenerate in real time at this first restoration. The story gives the needed batch when you place the supplied Base Camp objects. Put down the required decor, check the camp objective again, and use the awarded Gifts to restore Duglas immediately.
This is the model for later chapters:
- find the transformed specialist in the past;
- carry that Strangeling to the present;
- satisfy the current island-development requirement;
- spend Celestia’s Gifts at the Goddess Statue;
- return to the location where the specialist’s Life solves the obstruction.
Duglas removes the boulder, which is the actual story proof. His restoration also establishes why debris removal, housing, and the Bulletin Board should not be dismissed as decoration. Camp milestones feed future restorations. This is a good pause to clear obvious debris and check newly grown Gifts instead of discovering the same shortfall after the next island trip.
Chapter 4 is a Pino restoration loop with one forest trap
The Polturnip blocking Edward cannot be cleared with an ordinary gathering tool. Travel with Rem to Faraway Island, speak with Mato, and follow the Lulab Forest route through its fights. The first forced return is part of the story, not proof that you chose the wrong fork. Continue through Terrasa Farm until Growler and Pino’s watering-can form are introduced.
Bring Pino to the Goddess Statue. If the statue refuses the restoration, read its island-rating hint rather than farming flowers blindly. At this stage, removing one or two marked debris sections is normally the smallest useful action: it advances Base Camp and satisfies the immediate development gate. Restore Pino, travel back to Lulab Forest, and let him gather the Leafe needed to enter the Valley of Spirits.
The singing-path room is the chapter’s only easily repeatable navigation failure. If a trunk returns you to the beginning, reset the sequence and use this route from the first choice:
- take the left route and enter the leftmost trunk;
- in the next area, move right to the trunk at the far edge;
- choose the far-left trunk in the following room;
- choose the far-left trunk once more, then follow the opened objective path.
Inside the Elder Tree, clear the monster encounter and return outside. Healing the tree still needs Fern Soup, so use Skelegon’s map shortcut to visit Inaji, obtain the recipe path, and bring the soup back. The resulting Spirit Hoe unlocks Farmer and gives Pino the tool that can uproot the Polturnip in the present. If Edward remains blocked, verify both parts: Farmer has been unlocked and the Spirit Hoe handoff scene has occurred.
Use Chapter 5’s paper map instead of the world map
B2 introduces a Treasure Grove Sapling before the broken statues seal Edward away. Plant that story sapling at Base Camp and collect any new Celestia’s Gifts while you are there. The main quest then runs through Auntie Anne and Rem to Paulette on Tropica Isles, where the next specialist is hidden behind an artist’s treasure hunt.
The three red X marks do not become normal world-map pins. Open the main map, then switch to the special treasure-map view shown by its separate icon. Compare the drawing’s landmarks to the terrain and visit the three marked places. If the orange quest arrow seems to circle an empty point, the usual cause is that you are still reading the world map instead of Paulette’s sheet.
After the portal sequence, return to Paulette and follow the next lead southwest into Yohoho Cavern. Tropica Isles and the cavern are a real combat step up from the early forest, so make this a preparation stop rather than an argument for a permanent “best” Life:
- equip the strongest compatible weapon and armor already in the bag;
- give usable equipment to combat Buddies instead of leaving their original sets untouched;
- carry HP and SP recovery for the cavern rather than spending everything on field enemies;
- clear rooms when they protect a chest or route, but do not confuse every side chamber with the objective.
Defeat the shadow sharks near the marked center, recover Kikyo, and restore her at the Goddess Statue. Take human Kikyo back to her Tropica Isles home, complete the art sequence, and obtain the Artist Life. Her repair on B2 is the chapter endpoint. Planting the sapling, restoring Kikyo, and unlocking Artist are all future-facing tasks; skipping their follow-up screens is what makes Chapter 7 feel abrupt.
Chapter 6 builds the shield-breaker before the boss
The Hagram on B3 begins behind a shield your current party cannot penetrate. Leave it. Trigger the linked gemstone on B1, return to the past, and follow the Mysteria sequence to Auntie Anne’s house. Clean the marked objects and read the leaflet that points to Swolean’s Colosseum.
The first tournament is three rounds, with each round more demanding than the last. Enter with current healing, a combat setup you have actually practiced, and Buddies equipped for survival. When the tournament reveals Glen as a sword, take him to the Goddess Statue; merely winning the rounds does not yet create the weapon you need.
Return to Swolean Island, defeat human Glen in the beach training fight, and enter the nearby cave only when stocked. The entrance closes behind you until the far exit, so turn around before crossing the commitment point if the bag is empty. Follow the cave to Rem, emerge on the far side, then go back to the Colosseum for Frajeel. Winning that fight awards the Greatsword of Time.
Trip’s malfunction interrupts the return route. Resolve it at the small beach cave in Eternia before descending to B3. During the Hagram rematch, use the Greatsword of Time to break the shield first; damage spent into the protected state is not progress. Carla then restores the machine for the real fight. Defeat that phase to open B4 and Chapter 7.
Start Chapter 7 by auditing six crafting functions
B4 reveals the Cog, after which the route returns to Rem, Mysteria Castle, the inn, and a nighttime walk through the capital. Those scenes eventually send you between Edward and Rem for the Interfere Gear plan. At that moment, stop treating every Life rank as one enormous grind. The quest needs six functions, not a maxed account:
| Crafting step | Life used | What proves readiness |
|---|---|---|
| Eternian Energy Stew | Cook | The recipe accepts the Fern and Flying Fish with enough combined Cooking skill. |
| Stone Gear Part | Blacksmith | The Eternia Gem can be processed at the displayed Smithing requirement. |
| Wooden Gear Part | Carpenter | The Eternia Log recipe is no longer below the combined Carpentry total. |
| Cloth Gear Part | Tailor | The Eternian Fleece recipe is craftable at the current Sewing value. |
| Interfere Gear | Alchemist | Edward has issued the recipe and the four completed parts are present. |
| Interfere Gear+ | Artist | Edward has rejected the plain version and provided the finishing recipe. |
Launch walkthrough references display 260 skill for each component, 280 Alchemy for the first assembly, and 350 Artistry for the finish. Use those only as planning marks. Open each recipe on the Version 2.1.2 client and read its live requirement before grinding, because the recipe card is the only detector that matters. A matching Crafting Buddy contributes to the combined total, so a modest personal Life plus a strong specialist can pass a gate that looks impossible from character level alone.

If one discipline is short, solve only that discipline: equip its best owned Life tool, complete nearby Life Challenges, claim the rank-up from its Master, spend relevant Skill Board points, and bring the matching Buddy to the bench. Do not push every gathering and combat Life to the same arbitrary level; gathering the quest materials has its own checks, while the four part recipes, Alchemy assembly, and Artistry finish have separate totals.
Collect the five Eternian materials as one return route
Rem marks the five objectives, so let the current map marker settle minor positioning disputes. The efficient order groups destinations already opened by earlier chapters:
- Eternia Gem — Warren Willow Hollow. Re-enter the Chapter 3 mine and follow the new marked room to the deposit. Bring a Miner Buddy if the node is slow to break. The proof is the quest-named Gem, not a similarly colored high-rank ore.
- Eternia Log — Lulab Forest. Warp toward the Valley of Spirits and follow the marker to the special tree. A Woodcutter Buddy raises the gathering side of the attempt.
- Eternia Fern — inside the Elder Tree. Take this immediately after the Log because the same Chapter 4 travel network is already open. Enter the Elder Tree and follow the objective to its rear gathering point; use Farmer support if the harvest check is weak.
- Eternian Flying Fish — Yohoho Cavern. Return to the Chapter 5 cavern and go to the fishing objective near its far end. Equip the best owned rod, add an Angler Buddy, and practice on lower targets if the line gauge collapses. Version 2.1.2 specifically fixed an instant line-gauge failure involving the Dark Dragon and True Dark Dragon rods, so patch before diagnosing a current rod as unusable.
- Eternian Fleece — Cave of Trials on Swolean Island. Use the Chapter 6 cave route and defeat the marked Eternia Woolie. A combat party solves the fight; the Fleece then feeds the Tailor recipe.
Return to Edward only when the quest inventory shows all five. Craft the stew and three other parts, report for the Interfere Gear recipe, assemble it with Alchemist, report again, then finish Interfere Gear+ with Artist. The repeated Edward visits are recipe gates. If a valid-looking item will not appear at the bench, the most likely missing step is the conversation that issues its recipe.
Fort Gardhart is the final difficulty switch, not a detour for loot
Before confirming the flight with Edward at the Depths entrance, decide whether to weaken the final encounter. Fort Gardhart sits behind a barrier in Ginormosia. Complete Shrines of Light until the game announces a change at the fort; entering random shrines without watching for that state can leave you unsure whether the barrier condition has moved.
Shrines use three broad challenge types. For a path-of-light room, touch each floor tile once and save the green end tile until all required tiles are lit; purple tiles relocate the route. Combat shrines ask for a survivable party, while gathering shrines ask for the matching Life, tool, and enough speed. When one challenge exposes the wrong weakness, leave and solve another rather than forcing the whole account through the same Life.
Dropping the barrier is not the final proof. Proceed through Fort Gardhart to its concluding weakening event before returning to Edward. The fort also contains optional rewards, but looting one room or merely entering the castle does not guarantee the final boss has been reduced. Use the completion scene and the changed objective state as the detector.
This is also the last safe equipment audit. Put current gear on the controlled character and the three combat Buddies, carry both HP and SP recovery, and keep one dependable way to deal damage while moving. The Version 2.1.1 update increased combat Buddy special-skill frequency and evasion and changed several skills, which is another reason not to copy a launch-week “best Buddy” ranking into a current save.

The last two arenas punish attacks made at the wrong time
Speak to Edward only after the Interfere Gear+ chain and the Fort decision are complete. The Dark Dragon hangs around the platform and covers space with broad attacks. Fight from the side when possible, leave the center of an area marker before resuming a combo, and strike its thrown bombs back when the angle is clear. During a transition or invulnerable heat state, preserve SP and special skills; an impressive animation into immunity only removes the tool needed for the next opening.
Gear-Xernes follows without a normal expedition break. Treat the remaining inventory as final-fight resources. Its radial beam pattern becomes easier to read near the wider outside spacing: move toward a safe outer gap and travel with the opening instead of cutting across the narrow center. Return throwable bombs when facing the boss, dodge the sweeping area attacks, and heal before the next pattern begins rather than after contact.
If the finale still feels unreasonable, do not respond with an unfocused all-Life grind. Back out to the last available preparation state and test one missing proof: Fort Gardhart’s ending was actually completed; the current combat Life has a usable weapon and learned moves; every Buddy has equipment; recovery items are registered; and the client is on Version 2.1.2 or later. Those checks change the fight. Raising an unrelated crafting Life does not.
Defeating Gear-Xernes completes the base seven-chapter story. Let the credits and following scenes finish before judging the save state. The open-world systems, Treasure Groves, Life ranks, collectibles, and later Snoozaland content continue beyond this route; they are not missables that must be exhausted before Edward’s final prompt.
