From the Ashes is not the next chapter in your Sarentu save. It is a separate post-campaign expansion selected from the main menu, and it gives control to So’lek with its own progression, weapons, Finishers, and devastated version of Kinglor Forest. Title Update 2.5 even allows a player who has not completed the base story to enter directly.
That separation changes the right preparation. Do not grind the base campaign expecting its inventory to solve So’lek’s opening. Learn the expansion’s stealth finisher and Warrior Senses, rebuild his equipment when the story asks, and treat sonic defenses as a routing lock. The walkthrough below follows the playable dependencies from the prologue through Rise From the Ashes, with spoilers kept to what is needed to avoid a blocked objective.
Start from the expansion tile, not a New Game+ slot
After the expansion and current game update are installed, choose From the Ashes from the main menu. The official update notes say this entry works without completing the base story. The story itself takes place after that campaign, so watch the recap if names such as Sarentu, TAP, Ri’nela, Teylan, Alma, and Hometree are no longer fresh.
The distinction also protects the wrong save from becoming your troubleshooting target:
- No From the Ashes tile: verify ownership, installation, and the latest game update before changing a base-game save.
- Expecting your Sarentu inventory: So’lek uses streamlined expansion progression. His early loss of power and later rebuild are intentional.
- Expecting first-person only: the expansion supports both views, though Ubisoft describes its combat as designed for third person. Switch perspective when close-range awareness or precise aiming benefits.
Keep a manual spare slot if the platform permits it, then begin. The official TU 2.5 notes also warn PC players that deleting one save and choosing Continue on another with the keyboard could start a new game; using the mouse was the documented workaround at that version boundary.
The prologue teaches what So’lek can do that the Sarentu could not
The memory sequence begins in aerial combat. Lead shots into aircraft thrusters and use the aim slowdown to stabilize the angle. In the present-day outpost, follow the Sarentu through the wreckage, use charged jumps over broken spans, and let SID handle the locked path. The first AMP is the Finisher lesson: approach the valid target and use the prompt instead of trading ordinary weapon damage with its armor.
The Last Dog Tag encounter is flexible about stealth, but it establishes two durable habits. First, pulse Na’vi Senses before entering each corridor so reinforcements are marked through cover. Second, carry the fight toward an exit only after the room that controls it is safe. Sprinting through the objective marker while enemies still own the next hallway simply moves the crossfire.
Welcome Home uses an ikran race as a flight refresher. Ash on the Wind then replaces speed with investigation: inspect the restrained direhorse, sleeping place, and baskets at the damaged camp; follow the smoke and repeated symbol; clear the old Resistance site; then move to TAP. When the locked TAP door ignores SID, restore facility power through the flooded side route and return to the original door. A dead panel is the clue, not a request to search the whole building for another entrance.
Alone and Burning Mountains make flight a conditional tool
After the prologue, So’lek reaches Hometree with basic equipment while sonic defenses make a direct ikran approach unsafe. Dismount outside their influence, mark the RDA, and take the side of the occupied entrance rather than flying into the warning effect. One AMP near the access route is a Finisher opportunity; the interior soldiers are better removed quietly because So’lek has not rebuilt his health or weapon options yet.
The Mangkwan Raider encounter unlocks Warrior Senses. Treat it as a short conversion window: enemy positions become clearer, So’lek deals more damage and withstands more pressure, but the state does not remove the need for cover when additional RDA arrive. Search the combat space for ammunition and healing before pushing to the next wave.
Alone will not close until you perform the rebuild tasks: upgrade one equipped item and cook a meal at So’lek’s home. If the next call does not arrive, reopen the quest checklist and confirm both actions registered. Burning Mountains then sends you toward the ikran rookery, but snipers and sonic units keep the upper approach closed. Begin at the base and climb with lift vines and marked paths. The game is withholding flight on purpose; circling the summit is not a shortcut.
A Blessing turns the knife into the key for RDA systems
Defeating Hayn awards a dog tag for skill progression and opens the way to the Tana’ring path and its health-increasing fruit. When Teylan calls from Frontiers Port Echo, approach the docks from the left and use the waterline entrance beneath the cargo structure for the quieter infiltration.
Teylan’s modification lets the knife charge and overload RDA panels. Inside the cargo section, clear enough space to work both engines. Each engine follows the same logic: operate its valve or panel, wait for the housing to open, then place an explosive grenade inside. A grenade thrown at the closed exterior does not satisfy the sabotage.
On the upper dock, the objective splits into three material targets: parked aircraft, electrical systems, and fuel silos. A mounted or detached RDA weapon can accelerate the aircraft work, but confirm each objective category separately before leaving. The quest ends at the Resistance hideout and adds the shotgun, a useful answer for the tighter interiors ahead.
The Beast is a rescue puzzle, not a boss health bar
Laser Ore Processor Alpha offers a loud main gate and a quieter maintenance entrance. For maintenance, trace the yellow line to the valve and stop the water leak before trying to charge the knife panel. Whichever entrance you use, override the facility from the control room, cut power to electrified water, and overload the turbines to continue.
The Fireback Mastodon is being controlled. Do not burn ammunition into the animal. Survive its charges until a device vents or exposes itself, then shoot the opening. The encounter changes interaction after each target:
- Break the two exposed chest devices during their vent windows.
- Clear the RDA wave, then approach and pry the foot device away.
- Shoot the rear or flank device when it opens, climb onto the fallen animal, and remove it.
- Protect the mastodon from the next wave; after it creates a route and falls, use the upper ledge to reach the final control device.
If the animal appears invulnerable, that is correct between exposure windows. Distance and observation advance the fight; continuous damage does not. The following Rakx chase reverses the rule: destroy incoming missiles, use Na’vi Senses when the aerial target leaves view, and aim at aircraft thrusters during the reinforcement waves.
Family Ties removes the ikran and makes the environment the compass
At the damaged field lab, follow the yellow power line to make the door panel usable. In the cave network, swim around the first blocked rib plant, ask Nor to release the lift vine, and open the route from the far side. Later, a gateway lily blocks him while a thanator sleeps nearby. Start at the sealed flower and follow its three branching vines; each branch ends at a smaller lily that must be shot or touched. Avoid turning the sleeping predator into an unnecessary fight.
The Ravines unlock after the cave, but the ikran remains unavailable there. Continue on foot. I See You then uses cover as the route marker: Zari’s sniper lane makes open ground unsafe, so move between rocks toward the cave on her right, scan for mines, and emerge beneath the crane. The crane fight is an environmental sequence. Shoot the first demolition charge from cover, use the crane’s rotation to expose the second, then take the eastern path to a new angle on the third.
SMB Alpha and the safehouse reward objective triage
In Separate Paths, the useful first terminal is inside a green tent on the left side of SMB Alpha. Deeper in the facility, follow Teylan’s voice to identify the correct control-room terminal. Before leaving, stop the reinforcement plan by addressing three different systems:
- Use nearby explosives on the Wyvern vehicle.
- Sabotage the generator panel, then shoot its vents while they cycle open.
- Trace and break the three exposed red fuel pipes.
During the Resistance safehouse defense, ammunition containers support a long hold, but enemies are not the only priority. Missile-guidance beacons announce themselves with pulses and sound. Disable each beacon as soon as it appears, then return to the wave. If the defense fails while enemies were under control, a live beacon was probably allowed to complete its job.
Rise From the Ashes has its own point of no return
The overlook briefing before the final Hometree assault warns that you cannot return until the quest is finished. Upgrade the gear you actually use, refill ammunition, collect healing, and spend dog tags first. The opening approach uses an RDA aircraft to enter; once inside Hometree, expect stealth to collapse and preserve Warrior Senses for the denser mixed waves.
Wukula’s first phase shares the arena with RDA reinforcements. Remove adds that deny cover, then return damage to the Raider. The second phase changes the target logic. When Wukula becomes immune on the right platform, destroy the aircraft above him. When he moves to the left platform, break the fuel lines supporting that position. After his health is depleted and he retreats to the center, destroy the nearby sonic devices before calling the ikran for the Finisher. If the prompt never appears, scan for a remaining sonic unit rather than shooting the boss again.
A 90% completion display may be a known issue
Title Update 2.5 documented a case where From the Ashes stays at 90% even after every quest is complete. It also listed Journal entries that may fail to unlock. Do not replay the finale solely because the percentage refuses to move. First compare the quest log against the two expansion workstreams named by the achievements: Save Your People and Sabotage RDA Operations.
For cleanup, verify what the client can prove: no remaining story quest, no active sabotage operation, no unexplored objective marker required by the Journal, and the expected completion achievements on your platform. If all of those agree while the overview remains at 90%, preserve the save and check current Ubisoft patch notes. The percentage alone was not reliable at the captured version boundary.
