Ready or Not A New America Route: Signal, Courtroom, and VIP

The Great Hall staircase in Ready or Not A New America

The safe way through A New America is to finish almost all of City Hall before you intercept the detonator signal. The green signal device on the 21st floor is not an early objective. It is the switch that turns a controlled four-floor clearance into a short rush to the courtroom. Find it, leave it untouched, prepare the 22nd-floor approach, and only then return to start the final sequence.

This route is for the Boiling Point version released with Ready or Not v1.4.1 on March 12, 2026. It aims at a reliable completion, including the VIP and detonator interaction, rather than promising a fixed suspect count or a perfect first-attempt S rank. Spawns can change, the signal device can appear in more than one 21st-floor room, and the mission does not show a dependable countdown before the endgame.

Prepare for traps before choosing a weapon

A New America mixes bright public halls, narrow offices, armored close-quarters suspects, chemical hazards, and infrared tripwires. A loadout that answers those conditions is more useful than a single “best gun.” Make these choices before deployment:

  • Put a gas mask on every operator who will cross uncleared rooms. The v1.4.1 notes confirm lethal gas as a Boiling Point environmental threat. A teammate without protection can turn one trapped doorway into a casualty and end an S-rank attempt.
  • Carry NVGs even though the operation begins in daylight. Their important job here is revealing infrared tripwires, not lighting the exterior. Toggle them when examining doors, corridors, and suspicious thresholds.
  • Keep fast disruption for the courtroom. Flashbangs or 9-Bangs act quickly during the final breach. CS gas is useful during the methodical floors, and v1.4.1 improved its effect on suspects, but a slow cloud is less attractive once the final timer is moving.
  • Balance penetration against arrest control. AP ammunition and a compact rifle or PDW help against armored CQB suspects. If the run is for S rank, shift the squad to less-lethal launchers and compliance tools, but keep the same room order and VIP discipline.
  • Reserve one multitool user for the VIP. Arresting the flower-mask suspect is not the last input. Someone must be alive, close, and able to interact with the device on his vest.

For a first clear, do not burden every operator with the same specialty. In co-op, assign a rear guard and a trap checker. With SWAT AI, keep Red and Blue available as separate elements: one can hold the last unsecured doorway while the other clears the next room. The official update fixed several breach and team-command failures, but an AI fix does not make an uncovered rear safe.

Use the 19th floor to buy information

The starting floor is short, but it contains the first route decision. Enter the security room and use the camera system before doing anything that removes power. The feeds can expose activity above and help you decide which doorway needs a shield, gas, or a second element.

Check the desk near the fallen officer for the keycard. Treat that card as route insurance rather than permission to open every electronic door immediately. Record which entrances you have cleared, then move through the Public Works side without leaving an open path behind you. A door that was safe five minutes ago is still a rear-entry risk if nobody owns it.

This floor is also the right place to establish two habits for the rest of the operation:

  1. Mirror or inspect the threshold, then check for an infrared line before stacking.
  2. After contact, restrain people and secure dropped weapons before the team advances. An incomplete evidence trail becomes expensive backtracking after the courtroom.

Clear the 20th floor as a loop, then decide on power

The 20th floor spreads the team across public and office spaces. Work it as one closed loop rather than bouncing between sound cues. From City Exhibition, clear the East Offices and Wedding Reception, continue through the West Offices and Printing side, and close every connecting room before returning to the elevator area. The keycard can appear in the East Offices or around Printing, so a missing card is a search problem, not a reason to skip the floor.

Electrical 2004, also identified as the Machine Room on the map, is near the elevators. Cutting power disables the camera system but makes the electronic doors on the upper floors operable without their normal keycard restriction. That trade is useful only after you have taken what you need from the cameras.

Use a simple decision test:

  • If the security feeds have already served their purpose and locked electronic doors are slowing the route, cut power now.
  • If the squad still depends on camera information and already has a keycard, leave power on until the 20th-floor loop is closed.

Do not climb simply because the stairs are visible. Confirm that the floor has no unsecured civilian, dropped weapon, or doorway feeding the stairwell. The final phase gives very little time for this kind of cleanup.

Turn the 21st floor into the endgame staging area

The 21st floor contains the signal-interception device. It is usually reported in a conference or council-side room, but its exact room can vary. Search for the green interactive screen instead of memorizing one door. When the character finishes the oral report and the prompt is available, note the room and do not interact yet.

Clear the Council Chamber and Council and Public Services side first. Half walls and broad openings let suspects fire from positions that look empty at a quick glance. Next, resolve the conference rooms, elevator lobby, storage spaces, and mayor’s office. The Great Hall should be last in this sweep because it connects the route to the upper floor and can contain several suspects plus civilians.

Gas in the Great Hall changes the tempo. Do not send an unprotected operator through it just to preserve momentum. Hold the exits, let masks do their job, and clear the space deliberately. Once the hall is controlled, leave a recognizable route back to the green screen: closed cleared doors, secured people, and no abandoned equipment in the path.

Touch the 22nd floor without triggering the courtroom

The top floor must be partly cleared before the signal interception, but the courtroom itself is the boundary. Move into the Courtroom Lobby and Public Waiting side, then clear the Reporter Lobby and adjacent spaces that could feed armed suspects into the final breach. Do not enter the courtroom through any of its doors yet.

This pre-clear has three purposes:

  • It prevents the assault team from being shot in the back while focused on the VIP.
  • It reveals civilians who might run across the courtroom approach.
  • It lets the squad choose two breach points and place operators before the countdown begins.

Use the yellow munitions crate behind the upper-floor stairs if the run has depleted grenades or ammunition. Reload every weapon, redistribute disruption tools, and check that the multitool carrier is not injured or isolated. In co-op, leave the assault element at the courtroom doors while one fast operator returns to the 21st-floor signal device. With AI, place the team on a hold command at the chosen entrance before making the return trip yourself.

Run the signal-to-VIP handoff as one sequence

Community walkthroughs describe roughly two to three minutes after the signal interception, while the game does not give a clean universal clock. Treat three minutes as a planning ceiling, not a promise. The safe sequence is:

  1. Activate the green signal screen on the 21st floor. Confirm the interaction completes before leaving.
  2. Return by the route you already secured. Do not divert for evidence, civilians, or a missed soft objective.
  3. Breach from Public Waiting or the prepared alternate door. Use fast disruption, then split attention between the courtroom center, side cover, and the Reporter Lobby connection.
  4. Identify the flower-mask VIP. He must be apprehended, not killed. Do not let the whole squad pour lethal fire into the far end of the room.
  5. Force compliance and restrain him. Keep another operator covering remaining suspects while the arrest animation finishes.
  6. Crouch and interact with the device on his vest. Use the multitool to disable the detonator. The arrest alone does not neutralize it.

The distinction between “signal intercepted” and “detonator disabled” is the mission’s central trap. The first action buys access to the finale; the second completes the bomb problem. If you are playing Commander mode and want the normal safe resolution, do not take and activate the detonator after restraining the VIP. That separate interaction is associated with the mission’s bad-ending branch.

Protect the run after the bomb is safe

Once the vest is disabled, stop behaving as if the score screen is guaranteed. Finish Bring Order to Chaos, rescue and restrain every civilian, secure remaining weapons, and report any outstanding objective. Because spawns vary, a memorized headcount is a weak completion signal. Use the tablet and the “soft complete” feedback from the environment, then search by closed zones:

  • First recheck the courtroom side rooms and Reporter Lobby.
  • Then descend through the Great Hall, storage, and conference/council rooms.
  • Finish with 20th-floor offices, Printing, and the short 19th-floor Public Works spaces.

If the tablet says civilians remain, call for compliance before reopening every door; frightened civilians can move away from their first location. If Bring Order to Chaos remains, check the long office sightlines and the half-wall positions on 21 before assuming the last suspect is on another floor.

Diagnose the failure by its trigger

The bomb fails before the courtroom is under control: the signal device was activated too early, or the team crossed the courtroom boundary without a prepared route. On the next run, locate the green screen but delay the interaction until the lobby side is clear and the assault element is stacked.

The VIP dies in the breach: the squad entered with uncontrolled lethal fire. Narrow the breach angle, lead with disruption, and give one player or AI element responsibility for the flower mask. A wall of bullets is especially dangerous when several suspects occupy the far side of the room.

Electronic doors consume the run: collect the keycard on the lower floors or use Electrical 2004 after the camera feeds have been checked. Do not discover this dependency while the final clock is running.

Suspects keep arriving from behind: the floor was crossed rather than closed. Return to the loop method on 20 and the room-by-room staging method on 21; every staircase and connecting lobby needs an owner before the next breach.

The vest prompt does not appear immediately: make sure the VIP is fully restrained, move close to the device, crouch, and aim the interaction at the vest. Keep the room covered while the multitool action completes.
