In Lies of P, the dangerous point is often the boss door you are ready to open. Winning the fight can move an NPC, replace a conversation, close a delivery, or turn a living character into an item pickup. A reliable first run therefore needs two routes at once: the street in front of P, and the chain of unfinished business leading back to Hotel Krat.
This is a spoiler-forward route for the base-game campaign. It does not try to name every ordinary chest or dictate one weapon build. Instead, it identifies the points where leaving an item undelivered or an NPC undiscovered can change a later quest. Research was closed on July 25, 2026. The latest patch listed on the official site is Version 1.12.0.0, dated September 23, 2025. Older walkthroughs remain useful for geography, but the current client, its difficulty options, item descriptions, and objective state outrank old damage numbers or fixed build advice.
The boss door is the real quest timer
A Stargazer is a combat checkpoint; it is not proof that every nearby story state is safe. Before entering a major arena, run this short audit:
- Deliver what the current district gave you. Quest items are most useful before the area boss, not after a later chapter has moved the recipient.
- Return to Hotel Krat after every major boss. Speak to Sophia, Geppetto, Antonia, Polendina, Eugénie, Venigni, Pulcinella, and any visitor whose position or dialogue has changed. Exhaust new prompts before spending rare Ergo or leaving again.
- Open the fast-travel list before choosing a destination. If the game indicates that a character has business at an earlier Stargazer, investigate it before advancing the story.
- Read new letters, decoded vessels, and records. A decoded vessel can open a field action; a record can be part of the run’s humanity route, but only after it has been played at Hotel Krat.
- Make the ending decision before the final dialogue. Sophia’s room and Geppetto’s request are not ordinary conversation branches. They control the last route.
The practical rule is simple: a new key opens the next district, but a newly acquired quest item usually points backward first.
Use this board to know when an act is actually closed
| Act and route | Campaign gate | State to close before moving on |
|---|---|---|
| I: Krat Central Station to Hotel Krat | Parade Master | Reach the hotel, meet its residents, take the Moonphase Pocket Watch and Puppet String, and learn where Geppetto went. |
| II: Elysion Boulevard and Krat City Hall | Mad Donkey, then Scrapped Watchman | Accept the Weeping Woman and Toma requests; after the Watchman, collect the Faded Whistle and return both Elysion items. |
| III: Workshop Union and Venigni Works | King’s Flame, Fuoco | Find Venigni, meet Red Fox and Black Cat, then bring Venigni and Pulcinella back to Hotel Krat. |
| IV: Moonlight Town and St. Frangelico Cathedral | Fallen Archbishop Andreus | Return Cecile’s Holy Mark before the boss; meet Alidoro and choose his first destination; collect the Krat Supply Box. |
| V: Path of the Pilgrim and Malum District | Eldest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood | Decide whether to travel with Red Fox and Black Cat, take the Portrait of a Boy, and unlock the Gold Coin Fruit loop. |
| VI: Rosa Isabelle Street and Estella Opera House | King of Puppets | Give Adelina the Bright Red Apple before the boss; resolve Julian’s ring; start the Old Lady’s wine request. |
| VII: Lorenzini Arcade and Grand Exhibition | Champion Victor | Find Belle before the boss, collect La Bleiwies and the Sturdy Krat Supply Box, then begin Antonia’s cure decision. |
| VIII: Barren Swamp | Green Monster of the Swamp | Deliver Eugénie’s glove to Alidoro, meet Hugo and the Broken Puppet, and find the masked siblings beside the tram. |
| IX: ruined Krat Central Station and Collapsing Krat | Walker of Illusions, then Corrupted Parade Master | Find Atkinson for Belle, collect the Special Krat Supply Box, return to the attacked hotel, and open the passage behind Antonia’s portrait. |
| X: Relic of Trismegistus | Black Rabbit Brotherhood rematch | Confront the Alidoro impostor, decide whether to take his Cryptic Vessel, and close Eugénie’s identity chain at the hotel. |
| XI: Black Seaside and Arche Abbey | Door Guardian, Laxasia, Simon Manus, and possibly Nameless Puppet | Meet Test Subject 826, settle Sophia’s request, resolve Black Cat and Red Fox, collect hotel epilogues, and choose the heart route. |
Before Fuoco, close the two windows behind Elysion Boulevard
Act II teaches the pattern the rest of the campaign will repeat. Talk to the Weeping Woman through the lit window beyond the house’s rooftops and agree to find her child. The Broken Baby Puppet lies in the Krat City Hall courtyard. Toma is at another lit window reached from the same rooftop route; his request points to his missing puppet friend Murphy.
Defeating the Scrapped Watchman does not finish these requests automatically. Examine the area around the bench marked by the friends’ message and take the Faded Whistle. Back at Toma’s window, open the Bag, select the whistle under usable items, and use it while standing at the window. Merely owning it or speaking to Toma again is not the completion action.
At the Weeping Woman’s window, deliver the Broken Baby Puppet. Her final question is the first clear example of the game’s truth-and-comfort system:
- “That’s a puppet” gives the basic quest reward but does not give the record.
- “She’s a cute baby” gives the Feel record and moves the run toward humanity.
If the record matters, return to Hotel Krat and play it at the gramophone. Obtaining a record and listening to it are separate states. This distinction matters later when players count dialogue choices but never complete the listening step.
Now visit Geppetto upstairs. This opens the P-Organ system. Eugénie also supplies Fulminis, an electric Legion Arm that fits a puppet-filled factory, but do not read that as a command to rebuild the whole character. The factory test is narrower: can the current weapon keep durability through a shortcut loop, and do the blade, handle, and Legion Arm give you one safe response to puppets without overloading P?

Before Andreus, finish Cecile’s delivery and place Alidoro
Act IV contains a genuine pre-boss cutoff. In the Cathedral Library, find Cecile near the barricaded window and accept her request. Her Archbishop’s Holy Mark is in the Archbishop’s quarters on the upper level, in the room flanked by angel statues. Bring it back to Cecile before defeating Fallen Archbishop Andreus.
After the boss, return to Cecile’s position. Her Written Confession and the Divine Service record replace her, and reading the confession gives the Pray gesture. Use Pray in front of the one-winged angel in the chapel connected to the Bridge of Atonement if you are building humanity. The sequence is delivery, boss, pickup, read, gesture; skipping one verb leaves a later checklist looking complete when it is not.
On the Cathedral Library balcony, meet Alidoro. His rare-Ergo shop creates a permanent resource decision: each boss Ergo can become either its special weapon or its amulet, not both on the same playthrough. Do not consume rare Ergo as ordinary currency while undecided.
You can tell Alidoro about Hotel Krat or send him to Venigni Works. If you send him to the factory, revisit the room near the Workshop Union Entrance Stargazer after Andreus. He will ask for another safe destination. Even a second lie eventually moves him to Hotel Krat, but the extra meeting is part of his route and contributes another choice to a humanity-focused run.
Before leaving the cathedral, also retrieve the Krat Supply Box from the cell near the route to the library lift. Give it to Polendina. Supply boxes do more than add a reward at the counter: they expand the shop, so an undelivered box can make later preparation look artificially limited.
Before the King of Puppets, spend the apple and settle Rosa Isabelle Street
The end of Act VI is the densest early missable cluster. Buy the Bright Red Apple from Polendina after his first shop expansion, then carry it into Estella Opera House. Adelina is in a room reached from the upper balcony above the flaming-chandelier hall. Give her the apple before fighting the King of Puppets. Return after the boss to collect the Fascination record and Red Actress’ Locket. If the apple is still in the Bag when the boss falls, that version of the quest has already failed.
Rosa Isabelle Street also contains two smaller loops that should be closed in the same trip:
- Julian the Gentleman: accept his request at the Culvert Stargazer, find the Wedding Ring beside the puppet in the black dress, and return. The comforting answer preserves the ring, gives the Sad gesture, and adds humanity; the other answer changes Julian’s later state.
- Old Lady at the Window: accept her request near the street entrance. The bottle of La Bleiwies is found later in Lorenzini Arcade’s wine cellar. Return it before forgetting the street, then have Pulcinella appraise the Venigni Commemorative Coin.
The ring is not only a reward. After the King of Puppets, Polendina asks whether a puppet and human can love each other. Having Julian’s evidence creates the response that shows him the ring. That is why completing one neighborhood conversation can affect a Hotel Krat scene several hours later.
After the King of Puppets, revisit Adelina’s room, then return to the hotel. Speak to Sophia, inspect the Portrait of a Boy upstairs, talk to Geppetto, and visit Antonia and Polendina outside. This starts Antonia’s next state and prevents the cure chain from appearing to begin without its emotional setup.
Before Champion Victor, recruit Belle instead of clearing the exhibition first
Belle is inside the Grand Exhibition, not waiting at Hotel Krat by default. From the side yard near the entrance shortcut, climb to the roof, enter the rafters, then descend the nearby ladder to her corner. Speak to her before Champion Victor. Once the boss is defeated, she can relocate to the hotel.
While moving through Lorenzini Arcade and the exhibition, bring home three kinds of progress rather than treating every pickup as inventory clutter:
- La Bleiwies closes the Old Lady’s request back on Rosa Isabelle Street.
- Sturdy Krat Supply Box expands Polendina’s shop after the exhibition.
- Venigni Collections expand Pulcinella’s shop when delivered; the collection name in your Bag tells you which expansion is waiting.
After Champion Victor, do not leave the conference-room route on autopilot. The two masked siblings wait beside the tram beyond the alchemist lab. Giving Gold Coin Fruit for the Black Cat’s condition produces the Quixotic record and Beg gesture, and it improves the logic of a peaceful resolution much later in Arche Abbey.
Back at Hotel Krat, speak to Polendina about a possible cure for Antonia, then visit Giangio near the Gold Coin Tree. Exchange one fruit for the cure and return to Polendina. If the goal is to complete Antonia’s story, instruct him to use it. The story acknowledges a cost; this is not presented as a clean medical victory. The actionable distinction is that refusing the cure closes the achievement-bearing branch, while administering it lets the later conversations and piano scene occur.
The Barren Swamp is a handoff between four people, not one long poison level
Act VIII connects Eugénie, Alidoro, Hugo, and the Broken Puppet. Handle each at the first available meeting so the post-boss return is a confirmation rather than a search.
Eugénie’s glove: take the Four-fingered Glove from her after Champion Victor. Deliver it to Alidoro near the Barren Swamp Entrance shortcut. When Eugénie later asks for his reaction, the truth reports his anger; the comforting lie says he was happy. Either answer closes this step, but it changes the humanity path.
Hugo’s investigation: at Barren Swamp Bridge, exhaust Rookie Explorer Hugo’s questions about Alidoro and recent rumors. He gives the Wanted: Alidoro poster. Show it to Alidoro at Hotel Krat, then return to Hugo and ask about Medoro. These conversations establish the inconsistency that makes the Act X confrontation intelligible.
Broken Puppet’s emotions: the puppet beside the swamp Stargazer learns through gestures obtained elsewhere. On a base-game route, the useful set is Sad from Julian’s compassionate branch, Clap from returning the Portrait of a Boy to Geppetto, Anger after the Hotel Krat attack, and Happy from Test Subject 826 in Arche Abbey. Teach any gestures already available now. The last two necessarily require later returns; the quest is a campaign-spanning loop, not something to force before the swamp boss.
Red Fox and Black Cat: if you gave the fruit after Champion Victor, keep at least two more Gold Coin Fruits available for their separate late-game requests. Spending every fruit on wishstones can convert the Abbey meetings into fights.
After defeating the Green Monster, return to Hotel Krat. If Antonia received the cure, speak first to Polendina and then Antonia. The successful-treatment conversation leads to the piano scene and the Greet gesture. Also speak to Belle; her partner’s signal now sends you to Krat Central Station.
Do not enter the Relic until ruined Krat has paid every debt
Act IX sends P back through Krat Central Station. Belle’s partner Atkinson is in the train car beneath the staircase near the shortcut back to the Stargazer. Take his letter before completing the chapter. At Hotel Krat, Belle’s response has a real consequence: telling her he became a monster sends her out to verify it and leads to her death; reporting that he was killed in action gives the Why record and keeps the compassionate route intact.
In Collapsing Krat, find the Special Krat Supply Box. After the hotel is attacked, deliver it to Polendina and purchase the Rusty Cryptic Vessel from the expanded shop. Have Venigni decode vessels before leaving; a vessel sitting unread in the inventory is not a solved route.
The attacked hotel supplies two gestures needed elsewhere. Speak to Antonia about the secret passage behind her portrait to receive Anger, then take that gesture back to the Broken Puppet. Later, Test Subject 826 supplies Happy, which completes the puppet’s four-emotion base-game lesson and its final Quartz reward.
Hermit’s Cave is optional, but its access is tied to this same chain. The Rusty Cryptic Vessel opens the gate beside Hugo. If you care about the cave’s record, Quartz, weapon, or Alidoro evidence, clear it before committing to the Relic. The campaign route continues without it; the completion route does not.

After the Brotherhood rematch, decide what Eugénie is allowed to learn
At the end of the Relic of Trismegistus route, speak to the Alidoro impostor about the hotel betrayal and his identity. If you attack him, you take the Cryptic Vessel that belonged to Alidoro, plus the first Proposal, Flower, Wolf record. This is the evidence needed to finish Eugénie’s identity chain. Choosing to walk away means accepting that this version of the chain remains incomplete.
Return to Hotel Krat immediately. Have Venigni decode the vessel before answering Eugénie. The decoded account reveals that the real Alidoro was her older brother. You then have two distinct outcomes:
- Tell her he was her older brother. Reload the hotel state by traveling away and back, then speak to her again for the Far East Princess record and completion of her story.
- Tell her he was only a talented Stalker. This is the humanity-oriented lie, but it withholds the identity needed for the truth branch.
This is a good place to stop counting “truth” and “lie” as a universal good-and-evil meter. The player task matters. A humanity run may prefer comfort; a character-story run may need disclosure; a record run may need a particular answer and a reload. Decide which result the current save is protecting before selecting the line.
Arche Abbey contains three separate lock points
Act XI is long enough that “finish the Abbey” is not a useful instruction. Treat it as three decision gates with a Hotel Krat cleanup between them where travel remains available.
Gate one: Test Subject 826 and the two Gold Coin Fruit fights
Find Test Subject 826 in the multi-level section of Arche Abbey Outer Wall and exhaust his dialogue. He gives the Happy gesture. That gesture closes the Broken Puppet’s base-game lesson, so return to the swamp when travel is available and teach it.
Black Cat and Red Fox appear separately as the Abbey route climbs. Each can request a Gold Coin Fruit. If you built goodwill earlier and want to avoid the Stalker fights, carry fruit for both and answer each request individually. Paying Black Cat does not silently pay Red Fox. Refusing changes that meeting into combat, which is a valid mask route but not a peaceful quest resolution.
Gate two: Laxasia opens Sophia’s irreversible choice
After Laxasia, cross the Ascension Bridge and enter the room containing Sophia’s real body. This is the first ending lock. The route supported by her story is to Give her peace; it grants the Entreat gesture and Shadow Flower record and is required by the documented Rise of P path. Letting her live leads away from that route.
Before climbing farther, return to Hotel Krat if travel is available and close the late epilogues:
- Speak to Polendina, then take the Cherry-Scented Letter and Memory of Beach record from Antonia’s wheelchair in Geppetto’s study if her cure chain was completed.
- Give Venigni the toy from Arlecchino and exhaust his dialogue to complete his story.
- Decode the Mechanical Cryptic Vessel if you have it. Its field solution requires the Frozen Feast boss-Ergo weapon; choosing Champion Victor’s amulet instead means this solution waits for another playthrough.
- Visit Test Subject 826 on the overpass near Rosa Isabelle Street after Laxasia. His dialogue also reveals the final state of Julian’s puppet wife.
Gate three: Geppetto’s heart request decides whether another boss exists
Free Geppetto from his Abbey cell and answer his question, then defeat Simon Manus. Under the Abyss, Geppetto asks for P’s heart:
- Give your heart ends the run on the Real Boy route. There is no Nameless Puppet fight on that branch.
- Refuse opens the Nameless Puppet battle. With Sophia given peace and sufficient humanity established through the run, this is the documented Rise of P route. A different humanity and Sophia state can lead to the other refusal ending.
The article does not assign a magic numerical humanity threshold because the readable route sources do not establish one reliable current number. Use the game’s escalating messages, P’s physical changes, the Portrait of a Boy, completed compassionate choices, and fully played records as state checks. If Rise of P is the target, do not arrive at Sophia hoping one final answer can repair a run that ignored every earlier humanity opportunity.

When a boss stalls the route, change one system at a time
A campaign checklist is useless if the next boss keeps it closed. Do not answer a loss by replacing every part of the build. Diagnose the failed exchange and change the system that caused it.
If blocking empties health without creating a turn: compare blade guard reduction, current Guard Regain, and the timing of the last hit in the string. A normal guard can preserve recoverable health; a Perfect Guard can stop the direct loss, but only if the timing is already recognized. Practice one repeated opening rather than attempting a perfect response to every animation.
If the weapon bounces between useful hits: separate blade and handle decisions. The blade controls damage properties, guard, and durability; the handle controls moveset and scaling. Assemble for a moveset that fits the arena and the stat you actually leveled. A large listed number does not help if the charged attack cannot fit inside the boss’s recovery.
If the second phase begins with no resources: stop treating phase one as a damage race. Set a goal for Pulse Cells, Fable slots, Legion charge, grindstone use, and weapon durability at the transition. Once phase one is repeatable, phase two becomes a learnable encounter rather than an occasional visit.
If an elemental tool seems weak: match the experiment to the enemy family. Electric Blitz is the first test against puppets, fire against carcasses, and acid against human or Stalker targets. These are starting hypotheses, not permanent tier rankings. Apply one abrasive or grindstone, observe the result, and keep the physical moveset if the element does not justify changing it.
If the character is overburdened: remove the part that contributes least to the current exchange before spending levels. Capacity supports weapons, Legion Arms, amulets, and defensive parts at once, but an extra layer of defense can still be a loss if it moves P into a worse weight state and destroys the dodge or stamina rhythm being practiced.
If the fight offers a Specter pool: using it is a route choice, not a failure. Decide what the summon is solving: taking aggro long enough to learn the arena, creating a status window with a Wishstone, or simply moving the story. Nameless Puppet follows the refusal branch and does not offer the same summon solution, so preserve a solo fundamentals check for the endgame.
After a win, spend the reward deliberately. Rare boss Ergo is not ordinary leveling currency. Compare the special weapon and amulet with Alidoro or Hugo before exchanging it, especially Champion Victor’s Ergo: Frozen Feast is also the key to one Mechanical Cryptic Vessel solution.
Do not start the next playthrough from the credits screen
When the ending finishes, decline the immediate move into the next playthrough if you still have cleanup. Return to Hotel Krat and inspect the study. Depending on the route, Geppetto’s letter or Sophia’s Blue Butterfly letter completes a character story. Play any unplayed records, inspect the portrait, collect final hotel items, and finish purchases before choosing New Game Plus.
Then audit the run by evidence, not memory:
- no quest item in the Bag still names a living recipient you intended to help;
- every obtained record has been played at least once if humanity mattered;
- the four base-game gestures were taught to the Broken Puppet;
- Belle, Antonia, Eugénie, Venigni, Sophia, and Geppetto reached the intended final state;
- all three Krat Supply Boxes and the Venigni Collections were delivered;
- each rare boss Ergo became the weapon or amulet chosen for this save, rather than being consumed by accident;
- the post-ending letter associated with the chosen route was collected.
A first campaign is complete when its decisions agree with one another. The route does not need every mask, both answers to one conversation, or both items from a single boss Ergo. It needs each irreversible choice to be intentional, every item that supports that choice to be delivered before its gate, and the Hotel Krat epilogue to be read before Krat resets.
