Your first Cozyrama project should be an editor test that becomes a finished scene. Build a lake, a village, and a small garden in one large diorama; use them to prove that water, paths, placement, scaling, animals, color, screenshots, and saving all work. Then move the destructive or whole-map achievement tests into disposable dioramas instead of flooding the scene you want to keep.
This route is for the released Windows version. It covers the Workshop, a first Sandbox build, the 20 current Steam achievement conditions, and practical checks for a counter that does not move. It does not prescribe an artistic style, rank downloadable creations, or promise a workaround for a live tracking bug.
Make three files with three different jobs
Do not make one save absorb every experiment. The achievement list includes two whole-surface jobs and one deliberately sparse build. Those goals fight the layout of a scene you intend to keep.
- Main diorama: choose a large size, give it a name, and use it for the lake, village, garden, animals, 100 decorations, screenshot, and color interactions.
- Sparse test: create and save a diorama with fewer than five placed items for Master of nothing. Leave it sparse until the achievement registers.
- Coverage test: reserve a small disposable diorama for Aquarium and Touch Grass. A separate file protects the main build from a full-water or full-grass repaint.
The current official description says only that the sparse diorama must contain fewer than five items; it does not establish that an empty file always triggers immediately. If the notification does not appear, save the file, return to the diorama browser, and check the Steam tracker before adding anything else. Do not fill the file and then try to count backward.
Use Workshop before Sandbox so one custom object is ready
Workshop and Sandbox solve different problems. Workshop combines parts into a reusable object. Sandbox arranges land, water, vegetation, buildings, animals, and those saved custom objects into a diorama. Creating one Workshop item first prevents a later round trip and satisfies Let Him Cook once the item is actually created.

Open Workshop and place a broad base part. Add one upright part and one horizontal part so rotation and height errors are easy to see. Confirm a preview with the left button and dismiss an unwanted preview with the right. Mouse movement rotates the active part; holding Shift while moving tests its scale. After placing a bridge-like or beam-like part, select it and use the axis control to stretch it in one direction.
Do not start with a many-part cottage. First prove four states:
- the base remains stationary while another part is selected;
- cancel removes the preview rather than deleting a placed part;
- scaling changes the selected part, not the camera distance;
- the finished object survives a save and appears where custom items are listed.
Take a thumbnail or editor photo only after the silhouette is readable from the default angle. Uploading the object is optional. The sharing achievement is not an upload task: It’s Beautiful! specifically requires downloading a first diorama from mod.io.
Shape the main diorama from empty space inward
Create the large main diorama in Sandbox. Before placing decorations, divide it into three zones: water along one edge, a village on the opposite side, and a garden between them. Leave a clean strip connecting all three. This gives the path tool a visible job and prevents the lake from cutting the build in half.

- Draw water first. Select the water tool, press on the terrain, and drag out a lake. Keep at least one dry island or bank inside the water area so docks, plants, and animals have clear reference points.
- Place the crossing before the houses. Put a dock at the bank, add a smaller dock or ramp where elevation changes, and use precise/axis controls until the pieces visually meet.
- Drag a path through all three zones. Run one segment from the village site to the dock and another from the dock toward the garden or campsite. A broken path is easier to repair now than after 100 objects cover it.
- Anchor the village. Place the cozy little house, then add distinct village-category objects around it. Keep the house away from the scene center because one achievement later asks you to sell one.
- Reserve five garden slots. Place five different vegetables or fruits, not five copies of one crop. Their uniqueness is part of the achievement condition.
- Add five animals together. Keep the first group in a visible area until Zoo registers. Put one pet in water for They can swim!, then confirm it remains in the intended zone after saving.
If a dock, ramp, or animal looks correct but behaves incorrectly, inspect selection state before rebuilding the area. A placed animal may still need its interaction toggle enabled before it roams. A stretched object may be selected on the wrong axis. A camera move can look like object movement when the object itself never changed coordinates.
Turn the scene into an achievement board
The official list contains 20 achievements, but only 19 have their own action: Sticker Fever unlocks after the others. Use the main diorama as a visible board for the actions that can coexist, then move only the destructive coverage tests elsewhere.

Clear the interaction achievements before adding clutter
Place the piggy, hedgehog, and easel near one another while the scene is still sparse. Select the piggy and change it to green; select the hedgehog and change it to blue; select the easel and change its color. Wait for each achievement notification or confirm it in Steam before recoloring the same object again. The named target and required color matter more than whether the result matches the scene.
For Pet lover, do not trust memory of which animals you touched. Open the current creature category, place one of each creature in rows, and pet them one by one. The February update added animal sounds, so sound can confirm an interaction occurred, but it does not prove the full roster is complete. When the last row is done, check Steam. If the achievement is still locked, compare the lineup with the live category rather than an old animal count; post-launch additions can make a fixed list stale.
Complete House Flipper with a spare cozy little house. Select the house, verify that the object menu belongs to that copy, then use the sell action exposed by the current build. If the main house is the only copy on the map, duplicate or place a replacement before selling anything. The success proof is the achievement, not the disappearance of an arbitrary building.
Reach 100 decorations without making the scene unreadable
Hoarder asks for 100 decorations on one diorama, while Village crafter asks for 10 unique village items. Keep those counts separate. Build the unique village set first, then add decoration clusters where they explain a space: flowers around the garden, lamps along the path, rocks at the water edge, tableware at a picnic, and bushes along the outside boundary.
Save after each visible cluster. If the achievement tracker exposes progress, use it as the count; otherwise keep a simple batch tally outside the game and verify after every 10 placements. Do not assume that a building, animal, terrain stroke, or custom object belongs to the decoration category. The live category shown while placing the object is the safer boundary.
Stop adding objects when the achievement registers. A scene with 100 readable placements is easier to repair than one with several hundred overlapping items. If selection becomes unreliable, hide the item list, rotate to a cleaner camera angle, or move the obstructing object before attempting a precise adjustment.
Cycle colors with a checklist, not by eye
Taste the rainbow and Undecided are easy to confuse because both involve palette sweeps. One tracks diorama ground colors; the other tracks background colors. They are different controls and should have separate checklists.
- Open the ground-color palette and start at one end of the currently visible swatches.
- Select each swatch once, allowing the diorama to visibly update before moving on.
- Write down the last swatch completed before changing categories or closing the editor.
- Repeat the process in the background-color palette.
- Check Steam after the final visible swatch; if only one achievement unlocked, repeat only the corresponding palette.
The December 15 hotfix says Undecided became obtainable properly, so old reports of an impossible background achievement should not be treated as the current rule. The number of swatches is deliberately not fixed here: the object and color library can change, and the live palette is the authoritative set.
Keep full-water and full-grass tests disposable
Open the coverage test and remove uncertainty before painting. Move the camera so the full diorama boundary is visible. For Aquarium, drag water across the surface in overlapping passes. Inspect edges, corners, slopes, and any dry sliver around the rim. The achievement requires the whole diorama, not a lake that merely appears large from one angle.
After Aquarium registers, save if you want a proof copy, then repurpose the same test for Touch Grass or create another small file. Paint grass in overlapping passes and inspect the same edge cases. The launch hotfix states that Water and Grass achievements no longer require items to be present, so do not add decorations just to make the coverage test count.
Go with the flow is cumulative distance rather than surface coverage. Watch its Steam progress while making deliberate water strokes. If the counter advances, continue in repeatable passes until it reaches 500 meters. If a fresh stroke produces no change, stop before spending a long session drawing blindly. Save, return to the browser, reopen the test, make one controlled stroke, and check again. If the live counter still does not move, record the build state and consult current developer support; the available written evidence does not establish a universal workaround.
Finish with a screenshot and a controlled mod.io test
Return to the main diorama after the test files have done their work. Activate the animals you want moving, check that lamps and effects are in their intended state, and inspect the scene from the screenshot angle. Look for three failure signals: a path ending against an object, an animal trapped below or inside a scaled prop, or a large item hiding the transition between zones.
Use the Screenshot Tool for Say Cheese!. The tool action, not an operating-system screenshot, is the documented condition. Keep the resulting image only if it shows the whole composition cleanly.
For It’s Beautiful!, open the mod.io browser and download one diorama. This may require accepting the current account or service flow. Confirm the download appears in the diorama browser before treating the task as complete. Uploading your own scene is a separate creative choice and is not required by the achievement description.
The route is finished when the custom item survives, the main diorama reads as three connected zones, the sparse and coverage tests have produced their own proof states, and Steam shows which achievements remain. If Sticker Fever is still locked, compare the live list against the table above. Repeat only the missing action; do not repaint or dismantle the finished scene as a general troubleshooting ritual.
