A copied generator code will not solve United Heist: Facility Zero. The important values are randomized, and each player sees only part of the rule. The reliable route is to pass observations in a fixed order, commit each answer once, and know which action resets the current puzzle.
This walkthrough covers the current free Steam demo from the two opening rooms through the generator, the card gate, both pit crossings, and the demo finish. It was checked on August 1, 2026 against demo v0.3.3. The premium game was still scheduled for September 17, 2026, so none of the post-demo chapter headings in an older guide are treated as released-game solutions.
Before either player leaves the opening room
The two roles are Central and Thief. At the first lock, do not read the combination visible in your own space and enter it beside that same clue. Each player finds the combination that opens the other player’s item box. Say the digits once, have the receiver repeat them, and only then turn the dial.
Opening both boxes gives each role the tool needed for its local barrier. Use the tool on the breakable door or the fence in that player’s route. If one person is already moving onward while the other still has a closed box, the problem is not a missing key deeper in the bunker; the opening combinations were assigned across the two locations.
The next shared lock calls the Thief’s elevator. The Thief has a panel with three dials, while Central can see the target arrangement. Describe one dial at a time using a stable order—left, middle, right—and include both the mark and its orientation. The Thief matches all three. Central then presses the confirmation control on their side.
A good failure check is simple: if the elevator does not arrive, Central should compare the three final dial positions before pressing again. Restarting the session will not improve a single dial that was described upside down.
Turn two observations into one generator setup
In the generator area, the machine on the left is already operating and serves as a visual introduction. The Thief needs to activate the other generator. Do not search for a universal sequence; the symbols are randomized for the run.
- Thief reports the two machine symbols. Check both ends of the target generator and keep the positions attached to the shapes: front symbol first, rear symbol second.
- Central resolves the pair to a number. The reference paper on Central’s side contains the symbol combinations. Find the exact ordered pair, then set the number lever to the result shown for that pair.
- Thief describes the generator body. The supported shapes are round rear with pointed front, pointed rear with pointed front, or round rear with V-shaped front.
- Central sets the type lever. Choose the machine profile that matches the Thief’s front-and-rear description.
- Central reads the loadout. Once the number and type are set, Central can tell the Thief which bottles belong in the generator and which front buttons must be pressed, in order.
- Thief collects, loads, and enters. The bottles can be found across all currently walkable areas. Insert only the requested bottles, then press the front controls in the called sequence.

Use the machine’s response to decide what to recheck. If Central cannot derive a number, the front/rear symbol pair is incomplete or reversed. If the reference changes after the type lever moves, the machine profile was part of the answer and must be corrected before collecting bottles. If the Thief has the right bottles but the generator remains off, read the button order back from first press to last instead of changing the number lever at random.
Patch v0.3.2 added more hints around the three generator variants and moved a switch downward so its effect is easier to see. An earlier v0.2.2 patch also stopped the first wrong generator button from being counted in one situation. Those changes reduce false starts, but they do not turn the puzzle into a fixed recipe.
The card handoff has three fields
When the generator starts, the main-room gate opens. The Thief should take the route through it, knowing that the gate closes behind them. The only useful clue in the trapped section is a card. Read it to Central as three separate fields:
- bottom color;
- triangle directions;
- triangle order from left to right.
Central’s matching lock is at the end of the hallway. Use the middle control to select the Thief’s card color, then set the triangle directions in the exact left-to-right order reported. A correct set opens Central’s next route; it does not immediately free the Thief.
Central must take the elevator and enter the first room on the right. Press the gate control there to release the Thief. If the card lock accepted the pattern but the Thief is still trapped, stop re-entering triangles: the missing action is the separate gate button after the elevator.
Run the outward pit as a shared cursor
The pit contains two crossings with different rules. Central can handle both from the same control room, while the Thief moves across the physical tiles. On the outward leg, the Thief steps onto the start pad; that pad both begins and resets the route.
Central sees the safe path appear one tile at a time. This is not a speed test. Treat Central’s position as a cursor that stays synchronized with the Thief:
- Central stands on the currently revealed control tile.
- Central names the matching destination; the Thief jumps onto it.
- The Thief says landed before anyone moves again.
- Central advances to the next revealed control tile and calls the next jump.
If the displayed route disappears or the players lose their shared position, have the Thief return to the start pad and deliberately reset. Guessing one unseen landing risks a death and also invalidates a clean attempt at the pit’s no-death achievement.

On the return, aim at red and land on green
The return trip begins at a second start control and generates another random route. This time Central sees both the route and each tile’s current state. The Thief may stand only on an active green tile, but every jump flips the red/green polarity while the Thief is airborne.
That means the next ordinary destination should be red before takeoff. By the time the Thief lands, the polarity has changed and that tile should be green. Calling the tile that is green at takeoff sends the Thief toward a surface that will turn red before landing.
A third, blue state marks tiles that stay active instead of flipping. Demo updates added this stable-color information and later made the blue easier to distinguish. Use those tiles as breathing points: confirm the next segment, re-center the camera, and agree on the next destination before leaving the stable surface.
The safest callout is target, current color, jump. Central says “front-left, red, jump”; the Thief repeats “front-left” and commits. After landing, the Thief confirms the surface is holding. If a tile behaves contrary to the call, check whether a jump already occurred during the discussion—the polarity changes on every jump, not only on successful progress.
Reaching the far side of the return crossing completes the pit route and leads into the demo ending. The achievement list separately tracks solving the pit as Central, solving it as Thief, and finishing the pit without a death. If someone falls during a no-death attempt, the available sources do not prove that a checkpoint restart clears the hidden failure state; use a fresh demo run before promising that unlock.
Achievements this route can verify
The demo currently exposes 14 achievements. The following descriptions line up directly with actions in this route:
| Checkpoint | Central-side description | Thief-side description |
|---|---|---|
| Choose a role | Every good heist starts in the sewers — start as Central | Lonely wind — start as Thief |
| Generator solved | Documents in the cellar | Big machines require dangerous stuff |
| Pit solved | Christmas lights on the ceiling | Falling is not an option |
Thanks for playing is tied to finishing the demo, while Hey that’s the devs requires watching the credits to the end. Zero deaths has the explicit no-death pit condition. Switching roles on another run is the evidence-backed way to cover both sides; the sources do not say that one player can receive both role-specific unlocks in a single session.
Four other achievements are outside this walkthrough’s verified route: putting the fish in the bucket, smoking ten cigarettes from the same package, collecting ten hint coins, and collecting every hint coin. The July 28 v0.3.3 hotfix repaired the all-coins achievement, but neither supplied walkthrough gives a complete current coin map. Listing guessed coin locations would be less useful than leaving that collectible route explicitly open.
Use current-client signals when a guide image disagrees
Demo v0.3.2 was the final announced content patch before release. It reworked room visuals, added generator and kitchen hints, changed the hint interface, improved the pit’s blue state, and replaced Steam Voice with the developer’s VoIP system. The following v0.3.3 release was a bug-fix hotfix. Older screenshots can still explain the logic, but the live switch position, lighting, and room dressing may differ.
The durable checkpoints are therefore state changes: both opening boxes open, the elevator arrives after Central confirms, the requested generator starts, the color-and-triangle lock accepts the card, the separate gate control releases the Thief, the outward pit route advances one step at a time, and the return tiles flip on jumps. When one of those signals is absent, recheck the immediately preceding handoff instead of importing a fixed answer from another run.
