The first credits in Helix: Descent N Ascent are not the end of the route. They mark the point where the five single abilities and ten two-ability glyphs are finished. Reload that cleared save, and the last ten three-ability trials become available. Only after all 25 glyphs are lit can you use the collectible map to reach the secret ending.
Research for this route was frozen on August 2, 2026 against the released Steam version. It focuses on the state changes that make a room solvable: which ability is being transformed, what object must cross the barrier, what activates the exit, and what to preserve before moving on. It does not reproduce an unverified secret-exit direction string; the readable route shows the first move and the required map, but not a trustworthy text transcription of the remaining exits.
Spoiler boundary: every ability, both ending points, the post-credits continuation, late transformations, and the secret-ending requirement appear below.
The campaign is a 5–10–10 ability ladder
Helix teaches five verbs separately, then asks you to combine every pair, then every trio. That produces 5 single glyphs, 10 pair glyphs, and 10 triple glyphs. The order inside a tier is flexible, but the tiers themselves are not: pair trials depend on the single abilities, and the triple trials sit beyond the first credits.
| Tier | What the room is testing | Completion signal |
|---|---|---|
| Five single glyphs | Block, Hook, Drone, Cage, and Sandglass as individual tools | Each symbol fills on the first spiral and the corresponding power remains available |
| Ten pair glyphs | Every two-power interaction, including Sandglass transformations | The central spiral completes and opens the first ending gate |
| Ten triple glyphs | Transporting one useful state through three linked puzzle systems | Three levers activate the local circular mechanism; all 25 glyphs become available |
| Secret route | Reading a collectible map and navigating the looping white area | The hidden gate is reached after beginning the loop by travelling south |
Use the floor glyph and the map screen as state, not decoration. The symbol tells you which powers belong to the current trial; the map tells you which branch you are actually standing in. If a room appears to demand a tool you did not select, first test whether Sandglass changes one of your current tools into the missing function.

Learn the five base verbs before combining them
The opening Block sequence establishes the campaign’s basic grammar. Pull the first lever, use the switch in the newly opened side, and move the statue onto its plate. The white orb grants Block. From that point, blocks bridge water and hold plates. In the damaged-bridge area, build a temporary crossing, place two blocks on two of the three plates, and use your body on the last. Complete the nearby arcade challenge to drain the flooded route, then repeat the same resource count in the submerged puzzle: one block becomes footing, two hold plates, and you supply the final weight.
Block failure check: a block committed as a bridge cannot also hold a distant plate. Count the crossings and occupied plates before placing the first one. If the gate remains shut with no free block slot, recover the nearest bridge block after crossing or reset the room instead of stacking more objects.
Hook is both a pull and a movement anchor. In its trial, use it on the first lever and then on the pipe beyond the trench. The statue room teaches the distinction: Hook moves objects that manual pushing cannot free, but a pipe moves you. After the maze-like floor marker, go right, climb north to the arcade, and clear the Hook challenge to remove the obstruction outside. The last section asks you to drag three statues onto plates, then use corner statues as anchors until you can stand on the remaining plate.
Hook failure check: decide whether the target should move or you should move. A statue is cargo; a pipe is an anchor. If a pull leaves you on the wrong platform, you targeted a valid object with the wrong intent.
Drone trades range for a visible life meter. It can enter vents and press remote switches, but needless travel consumes the budget. After the square-maze marker, head north, send it to the upper-left switch, and use the reopened device to select the Drone symbol and the gear difficulty. In the long-pipe dungeon, summon the Drone at the vent mouth, move the character into the required plate position, and only then resume remote control. That removes dead distance from the flight.
Cage converts a creature into a portable essence bottle. A bottle can feed a matching machine or be thrown back onto a plate so the creature resumes its physical role. The single trial first uses a bug as plate weight, then sends you south of the square-maze marker for crab essence. The nearby bug north of the marker opens the arcade building; inside the final route, move the two available bugs between plates rather than consuming both at the first machines you see.
Sandglass inverts the environment. Glitching edges and blocked silhouettes are prompts to check the other state. Follow the visible route while alternating color states, then travel right from the square-maze marker through the forest path that exists only after inversion. The hut arcade opens the main Sandglass dungeon. Its final room has one statue and two plates: park the statue on the lower-left plate and stand on the other.
Ten pair glyphs: identify the changed tool first
The pair tier is where Helix stops treating the powers as independent buttons. The most important pre-puzzle action is to test the interaction in a safe room. A transformed power may replace the ordinary version until you separate or discard the combined object.
| Pair | New function | Route checkpoint that proves you understand it |
|---|---|---|
| Block + Hook | Hook swaps your position with a placed block | Teleport a block beyond a barrier, then swap to its new position |
| Block + Drone | Drone carries and drops a complete block | Leave one block on a remote plate while reusing the other as trench footing |
| Hook + Sandglass | Hook becomes a controllable Ball with remote push/pull | Leave the Ball on a lever and operate it after moving away |
| Cage + Drone | Drone gathers and delivers airborne essence | Collect flies from a rotten crab and deliver them to the matching machine |
| Cage + Sandglass | You transform into a small creature | Enter an unbarred sewer as a bug, then reposition two bugs and two crabs for the exit |
| Sandglass + Drone | Drone becomes faster and can phase through thin walls | Cut between adjacent pipes instead of attempting the full route on one life bar |
| Hook + Cage | Hook throws and retrieves the cage, including targets in water | Hook a cage toward a fish and return with a filled bottle |
| Hook + Drone | A hooked Drone loses its distance limit and steers the tether | Guide it through a long vent to a pipe, lever, or statue |
| Block + Sandglass | New blocks are kicked in the facing direction | Line up a diagonal chain so the final block stops on the distant plate |
| Block + Cage | One or two blocks strengthen the cage | Wait for the giant crab to tire, then catch it with a fully strengthened cage |
Pair routes that depend on carrying one scarce object
In Block + Drone, travel up and right from the pair-tier sphere. Open the device through the vent, select the combined symbol, and enter the main gate room with its two water trenches. Use one block to cross the left trench, then have the Drone place the other on the right-hand plate in the left room. Recover the crossing block, move it to the right trench, and enter the right room without disturbing the occupied plate. The Drone can then reach the switch. If both blocks are stranded as bridges, the puzzle state is wrong even if your character can still walk around.
Cage + Drone has a similar conservation rule, but the payload is living essence. The entrance machine needs three crab contributions; two are in the left branch and another is left of the sphere-maze marker. Inside, use the caged Drone to take flies from a rotten crab. When a bug must become plate weight, carry its essence in the Drone, move above the plate, and release it so the creature reforms there. Preserve or retrieve the rotten crab for the final room, because it supplies both weight and the flies required by the last machine.
Cage + Sandglass limits the population rather than the inventory. Only two bugs and two crabs are available for the exit requirements. Do not treat a creature as permanently spent after it opens one gate. Travel through the sewers as a bug, then carry or throw each creature forward so the same set reaches the final machines.
Block + Cage temporarily consumes Block capacity while the cage is strengthened. A one-block cage catches the large crab that opens the early machine. The giant target later needs two blocks in the cage and must finish its ground-smashing cycle before the throw. If Block appears unavailable, discard or deploy the strengthened cage; the power is tied up inside it, not missing from the loadout.
Pair routes that depend on remote control
Block + Hook begins north and then right of the spherical-maze marker. After the initial plate room, take the left branch. Put a block on a teleport tile, trigger the tile’s switch, and only then Hook the block. The swap follows the block’s current position, so an early Hook merely trades places on the near side.
Hook + Sandglass is solved by leaving control where your body cannot stay. Head right from the sphere, use Hook to climb, and invert the glitched pipe to expose the dungeon entrance. The Ball can rebound around geometry and remain connected to a lever or statue after you cross into another section. At the final gate, park the Ball on the lever first, move onto the platform route, and operate that lever remotely to raise the required path.
Sandglass + Drone begins south, then left at the split. Open the first device with an ordinary Drone, select the pair glyph, and switch to the phased version only for the barriers it can cross. The phased Drone cannot perform every ordinary interaction. When a switch refuses to respond, leave Sandglass state, interact normally, then invert again for travel.
Hook + Drone starts north and left. Attach Hook to the Drone before entering the long vent; this removes the normal range countdown. Steer the tether to a pipe or lever, then let the Hook pull the character along the route. The final room is a cargo problem: use the tethered Drone to reposition all three statues onto all three plates, not merely to reach the exit yourself.

Pair routes that change movement or force
Hook + Cage begins to the right of the sphere-maze marker. Supply the nearby machine with the crab found south of it, select the pair symbol, and enter the fish dungeon. Place the cage ball, Hook it, then aim the hooked cage at a fish. The returning bottle is the required essence. A normal Hook cannot collect a submerged target, and a normal Cage throw cannot cross the same distance.
Block + Sandglass begins south and right. Drain the water through the device before entering the main dungeon. In the room with the two early plates, build a backstop with the first kicked blocks so a later block stops on the central target. The later trench plate needs diagonal kicks, not a straight shot. Near the end, move the plate-bearing pillar to the right and place an ordinary block on it; move the other pillar to the center so a kicked block can reach the plate on the left.
Finishing all ten pairs fills the center spiral and opens a gate. Entering it triggers a cutscene and credits. Continue from that save. Do not start a fresh run and do not treat the glyph board as complete: ten triple symbols remain.
Triple trials use a three-lever audit
Every triple trial returns you to a diamond-marked area and places a circular mechanism near the branch network. The cleanest way to avoid wandering is to treat that mechanism as a three-item checklist. After each lever, return mentally—or physically when the route allows—to the circle and choose a branch you have not cleared. A gate opening inside one branch does not prove that the local glyph is complete.
The triple set contains the ten possible three-power combinations:
- Sandglass + Drone + Hook
- Block + Cage + Drone
- Block + Drone + Hook
- Sandglass + Block + Drone
- Sandglass + Block + Hook
- Sandglass + Hook + Cage
- Block + Cage + Hook
- Sandglass + Drone + Cage
- Sandglass + Block + Cage
- Hook + Cage + Drone
Remote-routing triples: preserve access before moving cargo
Sandglass + Drone + Hook: leave the hall, travel north through the inverted opening, then turn left to the circular mechanism. Convert Hook into the Ball, attach it to the Drone, and send that unlimited-range unit through the vent to hit all three internal switches. Use a Ball on the wall lever for the first branch. In the next branch, use Ball control on the platform switch, then use Hook + Drone to reach the pipe and the stairs. For the final route, put one statue on a teleport tile with the Ball and pull the other there with the tethered Drone. Only after both are staged should you operate the remote lever and distribute them to the plates.
Block + Drone + Hook: go south and use the Drone to unlock the approach. Teleport a block in front of the main gate, then carry it onto the plate. Left of the circle, have the Drone place a block across the gap and Hook-swap to it. In the teleport room, park the Drone on the far side before moving the block; send the block left, move it onto the plate, then stand on the other teleporter and have the Drone press the switch. The later statue route needs a safety plate: hold the fence down with one block before sending the second block left. Hook-swap to that second block, teleport the statue, and use the tethered Drone to land near the last lever.
Sandglass + Block + Drone: travel left and bridge the water. At the gate, carry blocks onto the two left plates, then invert so the Drone can phase with cargo. In the teleport room, phase a carried block through the right wall, hit the switch, and bring the teleported block back to the nearby plate. Leave the Drone near the large crab to hold the floor plate while the carried block goes through the gate to the lever. The final three-position teleporter can imprison the character. Before cycling it, keep a block available. When trapped, send the phased Drone left with that block and place it on the release plate; on the return, put a block on the teleporter, trigger the switch twice, then retrieve and place it southeast to free the character.
Sandglass + Block + Hook: use the southwest exit. Kick blocks onto the two submerged plates, then kick a block across the large gap and Hook-swap to it. Where a statue and three plates sit beyond a gap, move the statue first so it catches the kicked blocks instead of letting them fall. In the teleport puzzle, reach the left tile, kick two blocks right to create a reachable target, and leave a Ball on the switch. After teleporting, place one block on a plate, return, pull the other block closer with Ball control, Hook-swap to it, and operate the switch while the Ball positions the second block.
Essence-routing triples: keep the creature needed by the next room
Block + Cage + Drone: leave right. Use Drone-carried blocks for the diamond plates and preserve the large crabs as weights. A fully strengthened cage catches the giant crab only after its slam cycle ends; put that creature on the giant plate for the first lever. In the second branch, drop a teleported block onto the underwater plate. When a machine wants flies but the room contains only live crabs, drop a Drone-carried block onto a crab to create a rotten body, then collect its flies. For the last branch, create another rotten crab as bait. Bottle it near the dragonfly, wait for the dragonfly to feed, then use the fully strengthened cage.
Sandglass + Hook + Cage: go right, supply the first crab machine, but turn south before the obvious gate. Use the Ball to align the floating platforms to the lower-right route. From the circle’s right branch, Sandglass changes Cage into a body transformation; here the second form is a fish. Swim through the water route to the first lever. A carried cage prevents transformation, so throw the bug bottle ahead before crossing each gap. For the later platform section, bottle a fish before leaving the pond, align the platforms to the upper-left machine, feed it, then realign them toward the southern ledge and third lever.
Block + Cage + Hook: head left and cross the water with blocks. Use a hooked cage to extract fish, and strengthen the cage before trying to bottle large crabs or fish. In the four-plate room, blocks occupy the two submerged plates, a large crab holds one dry plate, and the character holds the fourth. Pick that crab back up; the next rooms reuse it. At the eel, stop trying to cross. Hook-catch one fish at a time and feed three of them to the eel. Once it moves beyond the mobile platform, activate the platform switch.
Sandglass + Drone + Cage: take the southern route, phase a Drone through the gate, and enter the sewer as a bug. The second Sandglass-Cage form in this trial is a cloud of flies, which crosses long gaps and enters vents. Use bug form for tight openings and fly form for distance. Leave a Drone outside before crawling into the late small opening; from inside, use that remote unit to operate the switches and deliver the small-crab bottle. If both character and Drone enter the opening, the remote half of the solution is lost.
Sandglass + Block + Cage: head north through the inverted route. In this trial, the second body form is a small crab. An exclamation mark signals diggable ground or wall marks. Use it to pass the first trunk and climb the tower later. Two blocks and a rotten crab solve the three-plate room. Where a tiny crab sits beyond the plate, kick a block into it, bottle the resulting rotten crab, and use it as weight. The final giant crab again requires a cage strengthened with two blocks.
Hook + Cage + Drone: use the southwest exit, deliver the first crab bottle with the Drone, and take the circle’s right branch. Attach Hook to the Drone before the long vent so it can collect flies without expiring. North of the circle, four machines require four creature types. The hut’s four levers must read left, right, left, right from left to right. The fish is under the retracting bridge: teleport the statue, place it on one plate, and stand on the other. In the final pool, use fish-filled Drones to supply distant machines. One machine is under the mountain; another to the northwest remains locked until a fish is dropped on a hidden pressure plate before its essence is delivered.
The secret ending starts with a map, not a guess

The secret route has two hard gates: all 25 glyphs and the collectible document containing the route map. From the completed floor glyph, travel south to enter the repeating white sequence. After that first move, follow the exits drawn on your collected map until the hidden gate appears.
The available readable walkthrough shows the map as an image but does not provide a dependable text sequence for every remaining exit. That means a fixed string copied without the in-game document would be guesswork. If the white rooms repeat without progress, verify these states instead:
- The center board shows all 25 symbols, not only the first-credit spiral.
- The route began by leaving the completed glyph to the south.
- The collectible map is actually present in the document collection and is being read in its displayed orientation.
- Each exit is chosen from the current white room; do not rotate the map to match character facing.
Reaching the gate completes the secret-ending route. If the triple trials are still available from the hall, return to them; the problem is missing progression, not an alternate direction in the loop.
Use four state checks when a room looks impossible
- Transformation: confirm whether Sandglass has changed Hook into Ball, Block into a kick, Drone into a phased unit, or Cage into the creature form assigned to that trial.
- Payload: identify the one thing that must survive the room—block, statue, creature bottle, living weight, or essence. Do not spend it on the first valid target automatically.
- Activator: decide whether the last action belongs to the character, a Drone, a Ball left on a lever, or a creature restored on a plate.
- Exit state: before triggering a teleporter or closing fence, leave a block, Drone, or remote control on the side that can reopen the route.
The released game supports a map for the current floor. If similar black-and-white rooms blur together, check the map after every lever rather than reconstructing the branch from memory. Some rooms can leave the immediate route awkward to backtrack; returning to the save is safer than dragging the wrong payload through several screens and then discovering that the release plate is behind you.
