Kingdom of Night Walkthrough: Main Story and Endings

Kingdom of Night characters and cars outside Stinky's Tavern at night

A reliable Kingdom of Night main-story route is Beelzebub, Pazuzu, Cain, Lilith, then The Gate and Samael. Killing each boss is only part of the job: the next stage may depend on collecting a Teraphim, returning to a named character, or completing a conversation after the fight. This walkthrough keeps those required actions with the section where they occur, so you can resume at the last unfinished objective instead of repeating a whole chapter.

The route was rechecked on August 7, 2026 against the official Steam page and news feed through Game Update #6, released May 18, 2026. Updates have shortened roads, changed some drops and shops, and fixed progression locks. Named regions, current quest text, and visible arena states are therefore more dependable than old turn counts or item locations.

Beelzebub and Pazuzu: finish the Teraphim business before moving on

Open the four Demon Lord quests, then enter the F.o.S. Compound

The prologue teaches combat and sends you through Echo Park, but your class does not change the story route below. The official game lists Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer, each with three skill branches. Choose the defensive timing and movement style you can read consistently; the available evidence does not support one permanent best class for the campaign.

When the party sequence moves underground, answer the early sewer riddle with history. Continue to the coffin, take Charon’s Obol, and speak with Charon. Gramps later explains the four great demons and adds the Beelzebub, Cain, Pazuzu, and Lilith quests at once. Their simultaneous appearance gives you freedom to explore; it does not make every visible dungeon part of the shortest story route.

Obtain Edgar’s Supermarket Keys in Valley Heights, but leave the locked supermarket until after the factory. From the Valley Heights/Stacey Street side, search the heavy vegetation for the steel sewer-cap entrance to the F.o.S. Compound. The prisoner sequence and lower passages lead toward the Slush Factory.

Escape the Slush Factory before fighting Beelzebub

Collect the visible factory components, craft the Pipe Tool, and use it at the pressure point. After you find Jimmy and open the gate, watch the green failure meter. Break enough liquid containers along the escape route to keep the bar from filling; stopping to clear every enemy works against the actual objective.

Beelzebub starts with a gray health bar. Avoid the summoned slime and falling rocks while it is gray, then attack when the bar turns red. When the boss returns to the middle and becomes gray again, leave the danger area and wait for the next red window rather than spending resources on an immune target.

After the fight, take the chapter reward and use Edgar’s keys at the supermarket. Work through the interior to the northern red-door route; the northern exit reaches the Central Sewer. Speak with Charon, continue north, and arrive in North Miami Sewers. If Chapter Two has not become productive, this conversation and destination are the two things to verify before revisiting the factory.

Charon joins story areas that otherwise feel disconnected. Activate the relevant destination before committing to another long walk across town.

Follow the stolen Frog Teraphim, not the optional sewer crypt

The Central Sewer gear rooms and crypt can look like the next mandatory dungeon, but they are optional to recovering the stolen Frog Teraphim. Follow the kid through the Maze and into the Assassin’s Guild Hideout. Speak with the Shadowlord, leave toward the Construction Site, and continue to Vista Del Plata. The insect burrow can contain useful loot, but clearing its branches does not advance the theft.

Caretaker Foley’s sequence depends on conversation order:

  1. Speak with Brandon on the left side of the area.
  2. Visit Caretaker Foley at the far northern end.
  3. Complete the remaining required conversation and defeat the bugs released by the scene.
  4. Return to Foley and ask about the locked RV.
  5. Complete the soda-and-key exchange, then go back to Brandon.

If Foley has no useful response, another trip through the burrow will not change his dialogue. Confirm that Brandon was spoken to first and that both the third conversation and bug encounter have resolved.

Take both Teraphims out of the Pazuzu chapter

Later Assassin’s Guild and Junkyard conversations send you to Xanthar and the Pazuzu route. When the poison-bomb chase begins, follow Jimmy north. The swarm is an advancing hazard, so preserve stamina or a movement skill, read the bomb landing zones, and keep moving until the gate closes behind the chase.

Pazuzu relocates around the arena and adds bugs. Move after the boss during safe windows without letting the swarm surround you; its sleep effect can turn one hit into several. If you need room, clear a nearby add rather than crossing through the pack. After the kill, physically collect the Locust Teraphim.

Do not leave the chapter with only that boss reward. When the viewpoint change ends, return to the Assassin’s Guild Hideout and ask Timothy for the stolen Frog Teraphim. If the story still appears open after Pazuzu, this return conversation is the shortest correction.

Cain and Lilith: let people and map markers overrule stale directions

Reach Cain through the graveyard and mall survivor sequence

Start from Vista Del Plata, leave its southern edge for Old South Road, and take the cave route. Activate the Charon point, pass through the opened steel gate into Lo Street, then continue in a broad arc past Hwy. 60 and Miami High School. W. Keystone Avenue carries the route toward the graveyard and mall. These region names remain useful even though Update #5 shortened several roads.

The underground graveyard riddle answer is Lock. Exit into the second graveyard, leave north, then go east to the Mall Parking Lot. Approach the apparent Jimmy on the roof from ground level to start the conversation; climbing onto the roof does not trigger it. Find Chief Waffle at the lower-right edge, help him, and return to the mall entrance when his diversion begins.

Inside the mall, progress comes from the survivors rather than a percentage of enemies or rooms cleared. Speak with Truman and the group, finish the tasks supplying their immediate needs, and use shops to break aggro when the unkillable creature follows you. After the Jimmy rescue, the journal may still tell you to explore the first floor. If survivor dialogue and the elevator have changed, use the donut shop on the second floor as the next anchor instead of clearing first-floor respawns.

Continue through Sebix and B and S until the donut store sequence opens the rooftop confrontation. During Cain’s sword phase, strike between attacks and leave the line before the swing. Clear the one-hit copies as they appear so they do not conceal the real telegraph. Cain’s defeat plus the following conversations finishes the mall portion; the health bar alone is not your exit signal.

When a boss loses its target or damage window, read the arena state before repeating the same attack.

Activate the four Land of Nod objectives before hunting temples

After the Ophelia and Veronica cutscene, collect the Shopping Center Key and use the nearby lever to open the steel gate. Return to North Miami Sewers, take Charon back to Stinky’s Tavern, then continue to Silver Valley Research Hospital and the Land of Nod.

At the central barrier, inspect its pillars before searching the surrounding regions. Each pillar starts a temple objective and reveals the useful map marker. If a temple is absent from your map, return to the barrier instead of assuming the region is broken.

  • Greenbelt Mirage: enter the southeast eye temple, work through the house and T.V. Land sequence, then strike the eye after the combat.
  • Slumbertree Forest: follow the northern marker into the burning building, climb the stair maze, defeat the enemy sustaining the fire, and destroy the eye.
  • Great Sandstorm: use the left-side eye-temple route. The temple on the right can contain real loot without being the story target.
  • Sea of Dreams: follow the marker on the left side, clear the hospital scene inside, and hit the final eye.

When all four eye temples have vanished, return to the central barrier and finish the Monkey Man interaction to expose Lilith. If the barrier remains, compare the four region names with your map; repeating the nearest temple will not satisfy a different missing objective.

Lilith heals from webs around the arena and uses effects that slow or frighten. Pull her away from web clusters when possible, reserve a movement answer for the larger area telegraph, and recover your spacing after fear. If you are also doing Igor’s experiments, check the current quest log for Spider Silk before leaving the dream region; it is side content, not a requirement for defeating Lilith.

After Lilith falls, take the central reward, enter the room to the north, and speak with Ryan. Do not leave the hospital until that conversation closes Dream Warrior. The later viewpoint scene and Teraphim confirmation show that the game has accepted the chapter result.

The Gate and Samael: preserve the decisions instead of replaying the finale

Keep one manual save before entering the finale and another before the last ending choice.

Save before accepting Gramps’s invitation

Talk to Gramps about The Gate. If you did not follow him immediately, leave Stinky’s Tavern and look to the right near the earlier Charon’s Orb route, then follow his next meeting south. After the tavern attack, travel north from Claypool Homes into Passive Acres Cemetery.

Starting at Charon in Passive Acres, leave by the northern route to enter Mesnard Estates. Stay on the right-hand route until it reaches the cave where Gramps waits. Make a manual save before saying you are ready. Keep that file untouched until you have seen an ending; it protects the long finale and the first irreversible decision from an inconvenient autosave.

In the first Samael fight, attack the eye and stand on burned ground

Death’s Dimension creates a path in front of you and removes it behind you, so continue deliberately rather than probing empty side space. In the arena, Samael’s body is not always the target. Attack the eye when it appears.

Before the arena-wide dark sweep, part of the platform burns into brown ground. Move onto that already-scarred patch before the sweep completes. Lasers and exploding orbs punish late lateral movement, so leave enough room to cross their travel lines. A scripted grab changes the platform state; recover your orientation first, then resume attacking when the eye returns.

After the health bar ends, interact with the computer, television, and cupboard, then enter the dark room to meet Charon. One choice ends the attempt, while accepting Uriel’s help continues the story. Reload the untouched save if you want to inspect both outcomes.

Use the portal cycle, then find the black eye

Attacking the winged creature shifts the next encounter to Mordecai’s ritual zones. Kill the dark enemies until the portal produces the larger creature, damage it before it retreats, and repeat. Do not wait beside the growing portal. After Gramps removes Mordecai from the confrontation, approach Ophelia and use the red button to start the final Samael battle.

The last fight opens with hands, orbs, eruptions, a wide laser, and a slam. During Incarnation of the Void, several eyes appear; attack the black eye. Destroying it clears the decoys and damages Samael. The six-hand laser pattern fires in two groups, so crossing the first volley does not make the lane safe. Account for the second three-hand volley before committing to the next black eye.

After the final health bar, the story lets you stay in Empyrean or return to normal life. Neither choice is a universally better build reward or an official canon. Choose the ending you want on the active file, and keep the pre-choice save until the credits or epilogue has loaded. To view the other branch, reload only that save; there is no need to repeat the Demon Lord chapters.
