CRIMSON ROOM DECADE Walkthrough: All Three Room Orientations

Official CRIMSON ROOM DECADE screenshot of the upright red room

CRIMSON ROOM DECADE has three one-way changes that reorganize the puzzle: the red key rolls the room onto a wall, the blue key turns it again, and the loosened door drops into the water. Before each change, finish the item chain in front of you. That keeps all ten diary clippings in reach and prevents a missing tool from looking like a broken puzzle. This walkthrough covers the full 2016 Steam game, not the original Flash puzzle or the separate demo.

The safe combination is generated for the current run. Read its four digits from the lightning-and-calendar sequence instead of copying somebody else’s code. Thunder and dials is the rare case in which all four generated digits match; a mixed code is valid and cannot be converted into that achievement with a universal answer.

Item inspection decides whether a correct action works

Most apparent dead ends come from holding the correct object in the wrong state. Inspect a collected item and drag to rotate it. Click movable parts to expose them: the pocket knife has three tools, the flashlight has a removable cap, and the record player has a battery panel and needle. Choose Use when you want the object active in the room; right-click returns to a close inspection of the selected item.

If a target ignores a click, do not immediately abandon the route. Check three things first: the object is selected, its usable part is exposed, and you are aiming at the small interactive point rather than the surrounding prop. Choosing Put returns the item to the yellow dresser, which is useful when your current selection blocks another interaction.

Build a working flashlight before the red key moves the floor

Begin at the calendar. Inspect the ship picture and click the first chimney so the game notes the missing smoke from chimney number four. Pull the paper loose, then crouch and take Clipping #9 from the floor. Lift the bed pillow for the waterproof pencil and apply it to the calendar. Day 1 should now carry an X; if it does not, the later curtain cycle will not produce the knife.

Open the curtain and collect the key on the sill. Notice the outlined figure and plus mark on the window, but leave the thunder clue for the second orientation. Use the key on the dresser’s bottom-right drawer and take the record player. The top-right drawer holds a small doll. The top-left drawer contains Clipping #8; after taking it, inspect the balance drawing beneath it. Finally, raise the loose drawer on the floor and crouch for Clipping #3.

Take the postcard from under the wine bottles and inspect its ship image. For Thisty?, click the bottles twenty times. This is optional for the escape, but doing it now avoids hunting for the bottle cluster after the room moves.

Take the day-21 knife before completing the calendar loop

Each curtain toggle advances the X by one day. Continue until day 21 is marked, then open the dresser’s top-left drawer again. The pocket knife should have appeared. If the drawer is empty, confirm that you marked the calendar with the pencil and that the X is on 21 rather than one day beside it.

If you want Endless March, keep toggling the curtain until the calendar returns to day 1. This does not replace the knife check: take the knife on day 21 before completing the loop.

Open the knife correctly and make the red key visible

  1. Inspect the pocket knife and expose the bottle-opener tip. Use it on the doorknob for Door to despair.
  2. Keep the same tip exposed and open the panel on the underside of the record player. Take its battery.
  3. Inspect the Imari plate on the dresser and collect the dirty ring.
  4. Switch the knife to its dull blade. Pry at the top of the red wall panel, then crouch beside the fallen panel for Clipping #4.
  5. Use the dull blade on the small raised spot near the foot of the mattress. Take the flashlight.
  6. Inspect the flashlight, remove its end cap, install the battery, close it, and switch the light on.

Crouch in front of the dresser and aim the lit flashlight into the dark bottom-left recess. Take the red key that becomes visible. Use it in the red keyhole on the exposed wall machine. Power of the red key confirms the step, and the room turns into its second orientation.

The first rotation turns the safe into the next engine

Do not assume an object is lost because the dresser fell. The flashlight is under the bed. The knife lies to the left of the bed, and the postcard is near it beneath the large machine. Take the Imari plate from the pillow. Search behind the dresser for Clipping #1, then crouch at its front and use the flashlight on the dark recess to find Clipping #7.

The safe dials are dirty. Put the Imari plate under the ceiling drip. Use the knife’s dull blade on the fallen curtain to cut off an edge; if the interaction point is difficult to reach, crouch and aim along the curtain edge. Place the cloth in the water-filled plate and wait for it to become soaked. Wipe the safe dials with the wet rag. Readable numerals are the success signal.

Read this run’s safe code from the lightning

Trigger the hanging bulb and watch the lightning project the window figure across the calendar. The plus mark identifies a day; its day number contributes a digit to the safe. Repeat the observation until you have the four digits in order, enter them on the cleaned dials, and turn the wheel.

If the safe stays closed, the failure is in the observation sequence, not a missing fixed answer. Re-trigger the light and record the marked day each time. Do not substitute a code from another run.

For Charged!, repeat the bulb interaction until the spark-and-smoke animation has occurred twenty times. Only the actual electrical animation counts. If your four-digit safe code happens to use the same digit in every position, opening the safe also awards Thunder and dials. A mixed code is a valid puzzle result, not an error. Finishing or restarting into a new game is the ordinary way to receive another randomized combination.

Cook the postcard, then open chimney number four

The opened safe is a microwave. Put the postcard inside, close the door, and open it again. The postcard becomes a miniature ship and Microwaved unlocks. Inspect the toy boat, expose the pocket knife’s bottle-opener tip, and use it on chimney number four. Raise the chimney and take the blue key.

Before inserting that key, select the flashlight and aim at the partly open door above you. Back away while keeping the beam on the gap until a red doll can be seen. Click the doll for Eyes in the dark. Then use the blue key in the blue keyhole on the machine. Power of the blue key marks the second rotation, which turns the room twice and places the door on the floor.

After the blue key, search by object relationships

You cannot walk directly across the door. Use the red wall as the path to the other side, then sweep both sides of the new floor plan:

  • The flashlight is beside the door.
  • The Imari plate leans against the window. Interact with it to break it, unlock Art Breaker, and expose Clipping #6.
  • One dirty ring is inside the opening where the bulb now hangs.
  • The record player rests near the lower end of the door, and the toy boat is on the safe.
  • Lift the pillow on the dresser to take the red record.
  • Clipping #2 is beside the left dresser leg.
  • Lift the fallen drawer against the red wall for the second ring.
  • The red box is on the floor near the dresser and safe; the pocket knife is on a dresser leg.
  • The waterproof pencil sits in the mattress-and-blanket gap near the door. Approach the bed from the other side to recover the wet rag from a bed leg.

If one object appears missing, reframe the search around the rotated geometry. “Under the bed” and “behind the dresser” no longer describe the same screen position they did at the start.

The red box is only a temporary home for the batteries

Inspect the red box. Fit both dirty rings into its round recesses and the waterproof pencil into the rectangular slot. Take the battery inside. Open the flashlight and remove its battery as well. Put both batteries into the red box to unlock Broken machine check, then remove them again; this is a checkpoint, not their final destination.

Install both batteries in the record player. Put the red record on it and lower the needle. The first attempt should skip because the record is dirty. Lift the needle, remove the record, wipe it with the wet rag, reinstall it, and lower the needle again. Let the song reach its end. Sad song unlocks and one door hinge breaks. If that hinge remains intact, the song did not complete: check both batteries, confirm the record was cleaned outside the player, and replay it without interrupting the needle.

The dropped door makes the toy boat useful a second time

Crouch at the remaining hinge and use the pocket knife’s bottle-opener tip. The door and knife fall into the water. Select the toy boat and place it on the water; Ferrying unlocks and the water level drops. Use the now-accessible ladder. Trying to use the ladder before launching the boat leaves the route blocked.

Walk to one far end of the fallen door and take the small doll. Travel behind the opposite end to collect Clipping #10. Return to the front of the toy boat and place the doll into its narrow front slot. The resulting movement makes the pocket knife fall within reach; go back and retrieve it.

Expose the bottle-opener tip and open chimney number four on the toy boat once more. This time it contains Clipping #5. If the other nine were collected, Dear Grandfather unlocks here. A failed trigger means one clipping is missing, so audit this sequence:

Room state Clippings Last location
Orientation 1 #9, #8, #3, #4 #4 beside the fallen red panel
Orientation 2 #1, #7 #7 in the dresser’s dark front recess
Orientation 3 #6, #2 #2 beside the left dresser leg
Outside #10, #5 #5 inside toy-boat chimney #4

Finally, switch the pocket knife to its corkscrew and use it on the closed wine bottle near the far end of the route. Liberty confirms the escape and starts the ending. If Dear Grandfather did not trigger first, use the table to locate the missing clipping before treating the route as complete. After the ending, return to the main menu and begin a distinct playthrough for Back to the room; start another run for Thunder and dials only when the generated safe digits were not all equal.
