In Pokemon Pokopia, you make Pokemetal by smelting Pokemetal Fragments, which come from pale or gray blocks marked with colored flecks. You can find those blocks in two fixed regions and on Sky Dream Island. Ordinary Rock Smash or Rollout is too weak at any of these locations, so eat Hamburger Steak first and mine while the powered move is active. Rare Pokemetal has no separate deposit; instead, watch for a sparkling fragment from the same blocks.
Review boundary: August 9, 2026, using Nintendo’s Version 2.0.0 notes. The August 4 update lets Ditto inhale items while using Rollout and gives the 3D Printer clearer insufficient-material messages. It does not list a change to the three deposits, the Hamburger Steak requirement, or furnace conversion described below.
Choose a deposit your save can reach
There is no need to visit all three places in one session. Choose a location whose gate is already open, bring more than one mining meal if you plan to stay awhile, and test your setup on an intact striped block. If the powered move breaks it and colored pieces fall out, you are ready to mine.
| Your available gate | Deposit to use | What confirms the route |
|---|---|---|
| Enhanced Cut | Withered Wasteland mine | The north-side fence opens and the railway leads to striped blocks. |
| Dragonite transformation | Sparkling Skylands east island | You can land on the eastern floating island; Gardevoir points out the area on the first visit. |
| Dragonite Doll | Sky Dream Island | Drifloon offers the daily trip and the generated island contains a cave or mineable ground. |
Withered Wasteland mine
Go to the mine on the north side of the Withered Wasteland and use enhanced Cut on the entrance fence. Descend the steps inside, turn left at the first fork, and follow the railway track to the striped deposits. If the fence does not move, another Hamburger Steak will not help; the missing state is the Cut upgrade from Chef Dente’s cooking progression.
Sparkling Skylands east island
The fixed Skylands deposit is on the eastern floating island. You must progress far enough in the story to unlock Ditto’s Dragonite transformation before you can reach it. Gardevoir points you toward the Pokemetal area on your first visit. If you can see the island but Ditto cannot land there, advance the Dragonite step instead of searching the lower Skylands for another deposit.
Sky Dream Island
Give the Dragonite Doll to Drifloon and choose Sky Dream Island. The trip is available once per day, but the island layout is generated, so do not rely on a permanent coordinate. Search a natural cave or dig below the surface for pale or gray blocks with red, green, yellow, or pastel flecks.
Dream Island is the repeatable option when the fixed deposits are exhausted or inconvenient. Bring extra Hamburger Steak because the meal’s effect can expire halfway through a productive cave. Version 2.0.0 lets Ditto inhale items while rolling, so use the pickup action during a Rollout pass rather than leaving fragments scattered behind.
The sparkle is the rare drop
Normal fragments look like colorful pieces. A Rare Pokemetal Fragment has a noticeable sparkle and enters a separate inventory stack. Break a cluster, sweep the floor, and check both counts before moving deeper into the mine. A run with no rare stack increase is not a broken route: rare fragments are occasional drops from ordinary Pokemetal Blocks, not a second block type waiting elsewhere.
Understanding that distinction can save you a long, unnecessary search. If normal fragments are dropping, both the location and the meal are working. Keep breaking striped blocks; changing islands will not reveal a guaranteed rare deposit.
Smelt what is actually in the bag
Use a furnace with a Pokemon assigned to the Burn Specialty. Queue normal Pokemetal Fragments to make Pokemetal, and queue Rare Pokemetal Fragments to make Rare Pokemetal. The two outputs stay separate, so verify the selected stack before starting the furnace.
If the furnace will not start, check the assigned Pokemon’s Specialty before returning to the mine. If a later recipe rejects material you have already smelted, compare the requested bar with the two inventory entries. Ordinary Pokemetal cannot substitute for Rare Pokemetal.
Mining is reliable; shop stock is not
A Pokemon Center PC can offer finished Pokemetal after the relevant Environment Level rewards, and a Pokemon with the Trade Specialty may offer Pokemetal or fragments through a powered Cash Register setup or a restored Pokemon Center. These are useful backups only when the material is visible in the current offer.
Read the stock before exchanging Life Coins or items. If Pokemetal is absent, leave the offer alone and use a deposit. A visible Rare Pokemetal Fragment can save a trip, but no current offer should be treated as a guaranteed daily source.
Decide how you will use it before spending it
Normal Pokemetal appears in construction and machine requirements, including the Sparkling Skylands Pokemon Center. Three Team Initiation Challenge objects also consume it: a washing machine, a Game Boy system, and a refrigerator. Pokemetal also fuels item copying at a rebuilt Pokemon Center’s 3D Printer.
The printer copies the object shown in a photo, but each job determines both the amount and whether it needs normal or Rare Pokemetal. There is no single cost that applies to every item. Open the exact photo, read the prompt, and cancel if it asks for a different bar or more material than you have. Version 2.0.0 makes the insufficient-material message clearer, so treat the printer screen as the final cost check.
Rare Pokemetal is also used in the Clear Bell and Tidal Bell recipes, which require five bars each in addition to their other unlocks and ingredients. If you plan to make both bells, reserve ten Rare Pokemetal before approving any rare 3D print. After setting those ten aside, use the next printer prompt—not a generic farming target—to work out exactly how much more you need to mine.
