The current Early Access story has one continuous opening route: Perils on the Sea, Let Fall Our Anchor, Incensed Against Us, the parallel Those Who Endure and License to Do Nothing threads, then Procuring Friends. The dangerous break is not a boss. It is returning the documents to Dom Sancho before clearing two side quests that can close with that hand-in.
This route was checked on August 10, 2026, three days after the Steam Early Access launch. It follows the available Act One build through its present story endpoint. Dialogue wording, enemy placement, and balance can move during Early Access, so use objective names and inventory states as the reliable checkpoints when a numbered response or damage value differs.
Keep five route locks visible
Do not try to preserve every possible approval result in one run. Preserve the states that prevent the next quest from opening: the ship documents, the first armed party, Kage’s recruitment, the Nagasaki side-quest window, and Ishiko’s survival. A manual save before each lock lets you explore a personal dialogue choice without replaying an entire mission.
| Route lock | State to verify before moving on | Failure signal |
|---|---|---|
| Perils on the Sea | The rutter and Letter of Marque have been collected before the final ship sequence. | A document objective remains active when the boarding confrontation advances. |
| Let Fall Our Anchor | The crew has food, several members are armed, and the funeral objective is resolved. | You return to camp without the bandit equipment or cannot close the memorial. |
| Incensed Against Us | Kage has joined and the church/manor conversations point back toward De Albatros. | You leave the attack scene without recruiting or looting, then lack a strong scout for the next infiltrations. |
| Nagasaki parallel quests | Those Who Endure, Ikigai, and Thievery and Some Other Crimes are handled before the Dom Sancho hand-in. | The side quests resolve automatically when License to Do Nothing closes. |
| Procuring Friends | Ishiko survives, both letters are recovered, and the smuggler meeting has been reached. | The escort condition fails or the manor exit is used before the marked house is checked. |
Perils on the Sea: finish the ship with both documents
In the sick bay, the game gives you one dose of medicine for two patients. Pick the survivor whose value fits your crew; the observed route favored Zeilmaker for his knowledge at sea, but this is a consequence choice rather than a puzzle with a universal correct answer. Take the medicine from the nearby chest, place it in a tactical slot, and use it on the person you intend to save. Do not assume the conversation itself administered it.
When Piet’s ration dispute becomes the combat tutorial, treat movement away from an adjacent enemy as a commitment. If the interface previews a reaction or interruption, make the attack that improves your defense or strips the opponent’s armor before relocating. The lesson carries into the rest of Act One: position first, then spend the action that would otherwise leave a character exposed.
For Antje’s treasure-room task, switch control to her for the lock. Move behind cover while the lookout faces away, open the room, and inspect the barrels to establish what the captain has been hiding. Returning to the recreation room closes the investigation; it does not yet close the ship chapter.
The boarding preparation has several optional jobs. Collect the pistols from the chest on one side of the lower deck, take the healing supplies from the opposite side, pick up the red gunpowder barrel, and move usable barricade material toward the stairs. Interacting with a cannon can advance the main task, so clear the portable preparation first if the cannon-cleaning prompt is not behaving as expected.
Once boarders reach the upper deck, take the Letter of Marque from the fallen boarder and the rutter from the captain’s-room chest. Confirm both items before handing the documents to Antje. The captain and ambassador cannot both be rescued by a hidden dialogue sequence in this launch route; leaving cover when Cabral demands it produces a failed state. Stay inside, let the confrontation resolve, then defeat the Portuguese from cover. That ends Perils on the Sea and moves the surviving crew ashore.
Let Fall Our Anchor: turn the beach into an equipped party
The beach immediately asks for one skill purchase and one perk. If your captain can reach seven Persuasion with the four available skill points, that investment pays back before the first village sequence is over. It is not required to finish the quest, but it opens a clean food solution and remains useful in Nagasaki. Spend the perk only after reading how it triggers; the observed route used Opportunist, but another class plan can complete the objective.
Clear the brambles with whichever crew member can perform the interaction, then speak to Jiro before crossing the village bridge. His conversation exposes the equipment problem. Across the bridge, a seven-Persuasion response with Yohei awards ten fish. Deliver the food state to Zeilmaker before committing to the longer weapon route.
Ask O-matsu for permission to pursue the bandits, leave by the path beyond the village, and enter Kurokawa Forest. The first two isolated outlaws are the chance to arm the group without a full battle: wait for each patrol to turn, use a stealth takedown, then loot the Katana and Accurate Tanegashima. The nearby chest adds a Mace & Rodela plus firearm components. Distribute these items instead of stacking every useful weapon on Flynn.
At the breakable doors, let the spear and gun users cross distance rather than feeding them one character at a time. Loot the Kurokawa Forest House Key and the remaining containers after the fight. Back at camp, ask Etienne to arrange the funeral, choose a burial, and give the memorial response instead of refusing to speak. The Judge Commander’s arrival and Tanaka’s intervention then carry the crew to Nagasaki.
Incensed Against Us: recruit before you run errands
Do not use the bed as soon as the objective appears. Search the larger room first. In the launch build, the furniture behind Sayako-hime held a superior heavy armor piece, a Revive Kit, and money. Treat the container marker, not those exact contents, as the durable reason to inspect it after an update.

After sleeping, clear the attackers inside the room before chasing anyone who panics or becomes disobedient. Some allies may be unarmed. Use them to help break an armor layer or finish an already exposed target, while the equipped characters handle the enemies who still threaten the room. A fleeing opponent can turn and attack if you end a chase too close, so make it spend its movement returning.
When combat ends, loot before time advances. Speak positively with Kage and accept the recruitment opportunity, then complete Sayako-hime’s reward conversation. On the way through Nagasaki Market, Kage can also handle the locked chest off the path toward the Jesuit church. The church audience and the following meeting at Dom Sancho’s manor should leave you with an instruction to recover the Queen’s document from the ship.
Open both Nagasaki threads, but close the personal one first
After the manor audience, Those Who Endure and License to Do Nothing can coexist. Complete Etienne’s thread first. Also put Ikigai and Thievery and Some Other Crimes on the checklist before the final document hand-in. Finishing License to Do Nothing can conclude those side quests automatically; that is the opening route’s clearest missable window.
At the House of Whispers, find Etienne upstairs and agree to bring him to Father Valignano. In Nagasaki Market, speak with the woman outside the church if you want to start Ikigai, then take Etienne inside. A seven-Persuasion captain has an additional way to support the conversation, but the important route state is the new objective that sends both of you to the harbour district.
The collector’s house cannot be entered on the daytime schedule used by the route. Pass time at the nearby point, return at night, wait for the guard to face away, and take him down from behind. Search the left side inside the room to find the relic. Etienne takes it, and the game asks whether he should keep it. That is a relationship decision; make the choice you want, leave cleanly, and return to the House of Whispers to close Those Who Endure.
License to Do Nothing: protect the side-quest window and both chests
Use the camp option during Red Blood and Black Bile if the party carries injuries. Healing before the Kurokawa return prevents a campaign debuff from becoming a combat problem. At the occupied approach to De Albatros, remove isolated enemies in stealth, then fight the clustered group from a position that makes them cross open ground. Do not chase panicked enemies beyond the range from which they can return and attack.
Board the ship and search the upper containers. The expected papers are missing, so return to the village and question Kanade. In Kanseido Village, the information check has more than one route: seven Manipulation works with the peasant woman, while seven Persuasion can open the washerwoman route. Talk to Tora-Hime and accept her help if you want the shrine branch; from then on, her survival condition is a hard requirement.
Bring Tora-Hime to the shrine so she can collect her equipment, then enter the Spaniard’s hacienda. Stealth can thin the exterior, but stronger indoor targets may force combat. Use a ranged opening on the toughest visible target, hold position while distant enemies approach, and search both marked chests after the rooms are safe. One chest is not enough: the objective expects the recovered documents as a set.
When the priest reports the shrine attack, agree to help before leaving the hacienda sequence. At the shrine, take the formation bonus, weaken the central or most exposed threat at range, and let the remaining enemies close into your melee line. The decision over the captured Spaniard is yours. Return to Dom Sancho only after the side-quest checklist is clear and the shrine outcome is settled. The document conversation completes License to Do Nothing.
Procuring Friends: recover the letters and reach the present story wall
Ishiko’s survival is now explicit. Inside the manor, use Kage to remove isolated guards and decide early between staying hidden and converting the map into a controlled fight. If combat starts, the scattered guards must spend turns reaching the party; finish the nearby group before advancing toward another room. Search furniture, bodies, and the marked document location until both the Queen’s Letter and Letter of Marque are back in inventory.
Move to the exit and speak to Ishiko while controlling Flynn; another character cannot start this NPC conversation in the observed build. Before taking the final exit point, turn left into the marked house and meet Manuela Da Silva. Julia Ota joins the exchange. Refusing or accepting cooperation is a story choice, not an item puzzle, so follow the relationship you want and let the objective completion confirm it.
Procuring Friends is the end of the currently documented Early Access main-story route, not the full game’s ending. The developer’s launch roadmap estimates roughly six to eight hours for this release and another substantial content addition later in Early Access, but it does not publish a permanent date for every act. If your client has received a story update after August 10, follow the new quest marker rather than treating this checkpoint as a final cap.
If a checkpoint will not advance
- Read the active objective and check the controlled character. Flynn must initiate several NPC conversations, while Antje, Kage, or another skilled companion may be needed for environmental checks.
- Inspect quest-item inventory, not ordinary loot totals. The rutter, Letter of Marque, Queen’s Letter, relic, and hacienda documents each belong to a specific hand-in.
- Revisit the last transition point before repeating combat. Passing time, returning to camp, using the globe, or selecting the correct district can be the missing state.
- Check every survival condition. Ishiko and Tora-Hime must remain alive during their marked sequences.
- Reload the manual save before the route lock if the objective and inventory agree but the next marker does not appear. Early Access can change scripting, and a clean checkpoint is safer than forcing an undocumented workaround.
