Bloodlines 2 Walkthrough: Current Quest Route, Lockouts, and Key Decisions

Phyre glides over the neon streets of Seattle in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

The most dangerous point in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is often the door that quietly closes unfinished work. Several story missions warn that active side quests will become unavailable, while major conversations can change relationships and the ending. The useful route is therefore not a list of every corridor. It is a sequence of stop, clear, save, then commit checkpoints.

This walkthrough was rebuilt for the June 10, 2026 Summer Update boundary. Launch guides describe a 29-quest chain, but the April Spring Update changed five former main quests into side quests, made Mrs Thorn’s jobs Tremere-only, and made Niko’s jobs Banu Haqim-only. A new campaign may therefore show fewer mandatory objectives than an October 2025 walkthrough. Follow the current main-quest icon when the lists disagree; use the older order below to understand where optional scenes fit, not to force a quest that your clan cannot receive.

Make a restorable checkpoint before every warning and allegiance choice

The pause-menu command Save Last Checkpoint creates a copy labelled “Manual Save.” It bookmarks the last checkpoint the game already made, usually before or after a conversation, combat encounter, or objective change. It does not freeze Phyre at the exact floor tile where the command is selected. If you save during a boss fight, reloading may return to the beginning of that encounter.

Use that behavior deliberately:

  1. When a mission warns that unfinished side quests will expire, back out instead of accepting the transition.
  2. Finish every active job you still want, especially a clan contact’s chain.
  3. Return to a quiet hub area and trigger Save Last Checkpoint.
  4. Open Load Game and confirm that a new “Manual Save” entry exists.
  5. Only then cross the warned door, rest at the haven, or begin the decisive conversation.

The Spring Update also backs up the autosave before an action such as New Game would overwrite it. That protects parallel campaigns, but it does not replace a decision checkpoint. Keep separate manual entries for the Baker decision, the Atrium confrontation, the late alliance conversations, and the endgame.

Endgame The Coursing of the Rats → Service, Pride, and Dedication → The Streets Incarnadine Katsumi’s contact, Campbell’s confession, final ability loadout, and intended ending state

The opening teaches four verbs you will use in every investigation

The Intro is mostly conversation and identity setup. In To Taste a Foreign Body, treat the police route as a controls exam: reach the roof without starting a public fight, distract the isolated officer, glide the gap, and remove the ghoul without alerting the group. The clan selection that follows changes your starting disciplines and dialogue flavor, but it does not remove the universal tools this route depends on: Heightened Senses, feeding, climbing, glide, Vampiric Sprint, and telekinetic interaction.

In Chains of Lead and Gold turns those tools into a search loop. Unlock the prompted abilities, use Fabien’s scent rather than street geometry as your guide, clear the ghouls that block the trail, and continue until the route reaches Lou at the Glacier Hotel and then Prince Ryong at Weaver Tower. If the scent seems to end, stop sprinting, activate Heightened Senses, and look vertically; the campaign frequently places its continuation on a roof, vent, or climbable pipe rather than at street level.

The Fires of Industry is the first sustained Weaver Tower climb. Enter with blood pips available, because repeated ghoul groups separate Phyre from the 21st-floor meeting. Feed on a safe surviving target before taking the next elevator or vent. Arriving with an empty discipline bar turns the final room into a harder fight but does not create another solution.

When the story switches to Fabien for The Cigarette Girl, the governing verb changes from follow to compare. Talk to Officer Wheeler, obtain phlegmatic blood when the investigation requires it, inspect the Makom Bar breach, and exhaust the evidence before accusing anyone. Pandora can close the conversation if approached with the wrong premise. A checkpoint before that interview is more useful than memorizing one “correct” personality response, because dialogue availability can reflect earlier choices.

A Star of Cold Aspect returns to Phyre. Follow Benny’s scent from the Makom Bar through his haven and the Westenra Construction Site. Before waking him, refill health and blood. Benny’s display represents repeated health refills rather than one ordinary bar. Spend disciplines to remove a phase, feed when the game exposes the opportunity, and do not attack immediately after dodging his shoulder feint: the charge can turn into a punch. When he glows red and commits to the straight rush, a late lateral dodge is safer than backing away.

At the first sheriff-night warning, clear the jobs your current client actually offers

Launch walkthroughs place Turning Down the Heat, Taste and Discretion, and The Dutiful Beloved under the Keep the Peace umbrella. The Spring Update changed Turning Down the Heat and The Dutiful Beloved into side quests. That means the player task is no longer “force all three to appear”; it is “clear every wanted icon before the transition.”

  • Taste and Discretion: Lou sends Phyre to Nix, who wants wealthy melancholic victims. Use Heightened Senses in the marked population, confirm both the social type and resonance before acting, and keep the feeding location out of public sight.
  • Turning Down the Heat: Katsumi’s route moves through three threatened Masquerade scenes at St. Stephens, Volunteer Park, and Max’s Auto Repair. Arrive from above, identify the witnesses and combatants before using a loud discipline, and leave only after the objective changes.
  • The Dutiful Beloved: Safia’s three ghouls are separate rescues. Finish the objective attached to each marker; proximity alone does not count as recovery.

Mrs Thorn and Niko now have clan restrictions on a new campaign. If a reference tells a Ventrue character to visit Niko but no icon or dialogue exists, that is not proof of a broken save. Check the Spring rules and the active quest log first. Campaigns already beyond Keep the Peace when that update arrived were specifically exempted, so an upgraded old save can legitimately contain a different set of jobs from a fresh one.

Blood Sisters is an evidence board; the Atrium is a four-symbol gate

During Blood Sisters – The Night Out, do not jump from the first bar lead to the Rebar Killer theory. Inspect Verona’s evidence, ask about her hangouts, check the police records, and work the Dutchman, Hole in the Wall, construction site, and Aurora Pawn leads until the game opens the accusation. The final stretch—preventing Ravenna’s murder and investigating its scene—depends on having advanced the earlier conversations, not merely visiting the correct building.

A Work of Holy Innocents begins as a breach response at the Atrium. Take the alternate entrance, clear the ghouls, and reach the room containing televisions and a body. Activate Heightened Senses to reveal the symbols. The input is:

  1. the television showing Phyre’s own symbol;
  2. the ankh;
  3. the rose;
  4. the drop.

The passage opens between the statues. Make a manual checkpoint before the Ysabella conversation. One branch returns Phyre’s disciplines before the fight; another leaves the boss to be beaten without them. Do not reduce that fork to a universal “best” answer: it changes the encounter and can control achievement conditions. With powers restored, spend them during Ysabella’s exposed phases and feed between bars. Without them, throw the room’s projectors, disrupt the televisions to draw her attention, and reserve healing for the later phase. Her forward sword thrust can be followed by a spinning kick, so the first dodge is not permission to rush in.

Willem’s container requires three levers at once, twice

In To Founder on the Lethe, the route moves from South Main Street Parking to Willem’s haven, Wake the Dead Cafe, and the Plastics Factory. The container puzzle has three levers and no meaningful order. Stand where all three are in range and pull them in rapid succession with telekinesis. The lock tests simultaneity, not a code. Enter the opened container and drop into the route below.

In Memoriam revisits the same obstacle as Fabien after the Pioneer Square investigation. Fabien cannot normally perform Phyre’s telekinesis. Use Heightened Senses behind the pickup truck to find the elixir that grants it, move to the center, and trigger all three levers quickly. Do not use Fabien’s sprint during the attempt: it changes the timing instead of solving the simultaneous requirement. Beyond the container, question Willem about alchemy and thin-bloods, then confront the memory-potion subject when that dialogue becomes available.

If the container never opens, the failure is usually spatial. One lever is outside the current targeting arc, or the first has reset before the third fires. Reposition until all three prompts are visible without walking.

Prove Yourself is now a hub for optional work, not a fixed four-quest tax

Launch guides group Tome Alone, A Plaything Discarded, and Little Book of Blackmail before Prove Yourself. The Spring Update reclassified A Plaything Discarded and Little Book of Blackmail. Clear them if offered and wanted, but do not wait forever for a former main quest to become mandatory.

Tome Alone sends Phyre from Safia to Lou and St. Stephens for forbidden books. A Plaything Discarded begins with Silky, follows Verona’s scent, and returns through Max. Little Book of Blackmail begins with Tolly and turns the police station into a stealth route through the evidence room and Fabien’s office. These jobs are valuable because they establish relationships and award finite experience; the Spring Update removed pedestrian-feeding experience and moved more XP into quests, codex entries, marks, and combat tutorials.

The Mother is a Fabien investigation rather than a combat gate. Inspect the initial scene, question Max and the officers, search police records for the pregnant woman, and work the memory-loss leads through Mr Lemon, Guru, and Carla. The Spring Update lets Fabien fast-travel by selecting one of his phlegmatic informants on the map. Use that system instead of assuming a distant marker is inaccessible. The Summer Update fixed a case where selecting Guru in the wrong order could disable fast travel, so confirm the current build before applying an old workaround.

Finish side work before Nix’s underground tour, then align four broken drawings

As Above, So Below presents a direct lockout warning when Phyre meets Nix. Back out if the map still carries work you want. Once committed, follow Nix’s trail, switch Heightened Senses from footprints to claw marks at the body, and clear the Unbirthed source rather than searching the previous corridor again. The underground fights mix Hunters with Unbirthed; remove ranged Hunters first, then use the remaining bodies to restore blood between waves.

The Pathways of Hesperides returns underground through the Glacier Hotel basement. Its vertical route repeatedly uses sprint-to-glide gaps, red and green light as navigation, and a final giant door. Past that door is the Fingerless Hand. The four “fingers” appear only when a broken symbol is viewed from the angle that makes its pieces line up:

  1. Enter the room left of the hand, enable Heightened Senses, stay back, and shift slightly right until the first drawing resolves.
  2. In the book room, find the drawing beside the gong. Climb the bookshelf facing the stairs, move right, and look down to align it.
  3. Return to the first room’s entrance without going inside. Face the nearby drawing from below the small stairs and adjust left.
  4. Enter the room left of the hand, drop down, continue forward, then turn toward the high drawing. Climb the rock and sight upward.

Return all four to the hand to reach the Gardener. If the fragments seem aligned but no finger appears, leave Heightened Senses active and change distance before angle; standing too close can hide the intended perspective.

Agent Baker is a campaign fork, not a routine combat prompt

In We Don’t Do Ghost Stories, trace the black power cables with Heightened Senses. The first generator opens access to the other two; destroy both branches to remove the command-center barrier. Inside, use the vent when the direct wall blocks progress.

The confrontation with Agent Baker offers destruction or Embrace. Walkthrough references associate that decision with radically different Seattle outcomes, while the official FAQ confirms that the campaign has a dozen endings shaped by multiple choices. Save before the conversation and pick the state you actually want; no single dialogue line guarantees an ending by itself. On a save made between the Valentine and Spring updates, the I.A.O. laptop once could become unresponsive after a Niko quest. The Summer Update lists that blocker as fixed. Update before abandoning the campaign or replaying the whole tower.

The Prince of Seattle returns to Fabien. Work the witnesses, reveal the basement route, and use Spirit’s Touch to negotiate with the elevator. In the basement, take the blood elixir before touching the glasses if the ability is still recharging. The memory sequence that follows is meant to overwrite what Fabien thinks he knows; it is not a failed objective reset.

Launch routing then grouped Putting Out the Trash, Dish of the Day, and A Kiss from Prospero before Seattle’s New Normal. Current clan restrictions can change that set. The stable rule is again to clear active icons before resting. Treat the Baker follow-up, Verona warning, and statements to Ryong or Lou as allegiance decisions; use separate manual checkpoints rather than copying another player’s “positive” dialogue path.

The last three quests turn the investigation into two boss checks

The Coursing of the Rats follows Katsumi’s scent to a shooter. The route forces combat before the red-lit door; partially invisible ghouls are the priority because they absorb attention while the ordinary group surrounds Phyre. After the shooter conversation, do not leave just because a completion pop-up appears. Return to Weaver Tower and wait for the objective itself to advance.

Service, Pride, and Dedication makes Fabien locate Campbell, combine the leads, and record a confession. Onda blocks the final room; use Forgetful Mind when the objective permits, redirect her through conversation, then confront Campbell. This is the final investigation payoff, so preserve a manual save before transmitting or withholding information.

In The Streets Incarnadine, free Phyre from Safia’s mark before treating the arena as a normal damage race. Safia repeatedly disengages, and the fight spawns Unbirthed and later ghouls. Throw long-range objects or explosives when she has committed to a location, use disciplines during close openings, and feed as soon as a depleted phase exposes the prompt. Red-glowing Unbirthed can explode after one hit; do not stand beside them while chasing Safia. The ghouls in the later wave are also resources because their dropped weapons and feed opportunities extend the fight.

Use the first broken handoff to decide whether to reload, update, or keep searching

Failure signal Most likely explanation Next action
A launch guide requires a quest that is absent Spring reclassification or Tremere/Banu Haqim exclusivity Check the main icon and clan contact; do not manufacture a missing objective.
Save Last Checkpoint restores earlier than expected It copied the last objective/conversation/combat checkpoint Advance until the objective changes, save again, and confirm the new Manual Save entry.
Willem’s container closes before the third lever The three inputs were not simultaneous Stand centrally and target all three without moving; as Fabien, take the telekinesis elixir and avoid sprint.
A Fingerless Hand drawing is visible but inert The fragments are not aligned from the intended distance Keep Heightened Senses active; move backward first, then make small lateral corrections.
I.A.O. laptop or Niko marker does not advance An older cross-update save may still be carrying a documented blocker Install the Summer Update, reload a pre-objective manual checkpoint, and retry before replaying the campaign.
Fabien cannot Spirit Touch the Blood Sisters letter A resume-from-main-menu bug affected older builds Update to the Summer boundary and reload before the interaction.
The main story will not continue after a pop-up The quest has a return/report objective after the apparent completion Read the active objective and return to the named court or tower contact.

The route is under control when each transition has three proofs: no wanted side quest remains on the map, a Manual Save is visible in Load Game, and you can name the decision or boss mechanic on the far side of the door. That is more reliable than trying to make a post-Spring campaign imitate a launch-era chapter count.

Official identity, update, and evidence boundary

The official Steam listing for App 532790 identifies The Chinese Room as developer, Paradox Interactive as publisher, and October 21, 2025 as the release date. The official Spring Update establishes Save Last Checkpoint, the five quest reclassifications, clan-specific Mrs Thorn/Niko jobs, Fabien fast travel, finite XP changes, and the upgraded campaign boundary. The official Summer Update is the latest captured base-game update and lists the quest/save blockers cited above as fixes. Route, puzzle, and boss actions were reconstructed from readable launch walkthroughs and cross-checked against current official changes. The DLC campaigns Loose Cannon and The Flower & the Flame, collectible completion, fixed ending formulas, and an obsolete missing-save hotfix workaround are outside this article.
