The Hust Banhmi Endings Guide: Final Choices and Escape Route

A motorcycle confrontation on a dark road in The Hust Banhmi

Spoiler warning: The Hust Banhmi has two different late-game choice screens, and they do not lead to interchangeable outcomes. The recorded branches verify a Normal End escape, a long True End, the Missing Student bad end, and the Lost Gold failure scene. This guide separates confirmed inputs from outcomes whose unlock conditions were not shown.

Version boundary: these checkpoints were reviewed on August 13, 2026 against the July 18 full release. Steam identifies the game as AppID 4530780 by developer and publisher marisa0704. The latest official announcements available during verification added Linux support and a startup-crash workaround, not a documented ending-route change.

Match the prompt to the ending before you answer

The safest way to use the final conversation is to read the exact options, not the threat around them. The supplied ending capture shows two distinct menus:

  • Run away / Stay is the escape decision used by the verified Normal End route.
  • Agree / Stay silent / Refuse is the three-way confrontation used by the verified True End and Missing Student routes.

Do not reduce both screens to “accept or resist.” Run away starts a navigated escape. Stay silent keeps the longer counter-operation story moving. Refuse does not produce the same escape; it ends with the protagonist missing. The supplied capture did not isolate the result of Agree, so that option is intentionally not assigned an ending here.

Target result Confirmed input or scene Reliable confirmation Evidence boundary
Normal End Choose Run away, then clear the junction route Just A Wind card The choice and seven-turn route are visible
True End Choose Stay silent at the three-option prompt Thank you, the Hust Banhmi! card after graduation No later branch input appears in the reviewed capture
Missing Student Choose Refuse at the three-option prompt Missing Student bad-end card The refusal and result are directly connected
Lost Gold Mr. Gold is on the road when a motorcycle intercepts him Lost Gold bad-end card The clip does not show the earlier trigger
Secret epilogue Conversation with Paralyzed Boy and Brother Hai Will Mr. Gold return? The scene is verified; its unlock recipe is not

Preserve the branch state without assuming a manual save

The reviewed material cuts between outcome runs and does not establish a manual-save, chapter-select, or rewind feature. Before committing, note which of the two prompts you reached and use whatever checkpoint or replay option your current client actually exposes. A screenshot of the options is more useful than a vague note such as “final choice,” because the correct silent response exists only on the three-option screen.

Keep a short branch ledger:

  1. Record whether the screen says Run away / Stay or Agree / Stay silent / Refuse.
  2. Record the selected option before advancing the next dialogue.
  3. Wait for the named result card. A street scene, a fire, or the graduation sequence is progress, not the final proof.
  4. If the wrong result appears, return to the last checkpoint your client provides. Do not assume a different-looking cutscene will converge later.

This distinction matters most for the True End. Its branch continues for a long time after the decisive input, while Refuse resolves much earlier. Replaying all of that story because the prompt was mislabeled is avoidable.

Run away for Just A Wind, then count seven junctions

At the thought asking whether to run outside, select Run away. The next useful information is not a combat instruction but a route string. The verified capture labels the shortest escape as:

Right → Left → Left → Left → Left → Right → Right

Count decisions at junctions, not every camera correction. Enter the first right, then commit to four consecutive left choices before the final two rights. If you turn the camera to check behind you, do not add that movement to the count. The route is easier to execute as three chunks: R / LLLL / RR.

First-person night escape during The Hust Banhmi ending route
During the escape, count intersections rather than camera swings: R, four L turns, then two R turns.

Reaching the street is only the first confirmation. The recorded outcome continues through police protection and the aftermath of the raid before displaying Just A Wind. If you are checking an endings gallery or maintaining your own completion notes, wait for that card. Do not mark the branch complete merely because the chase stopped.

The capture verifies this one shortest route but does not demonstrate every wrong-turn failure. If the environment no longer matches the expected next junction, correct at the next available checkpoint instead of inventing a second sequence from memory.

Stay silent to hold the True End branch

At the screen with Agree, Stay silent, and Refuse, highlight Stay silent. The immediate response is effectively “no answer,” followed by the thug allowing time for final goodbyes and warning against doing anything foolish. That exchange is the branch lock: silence is not indecision here.

The next phases are confirmation checkpoints rather than new moral choices:

  1. A few days pass and the thug returns to collect the protagonist.
  2. The confrontation at the altered, burning house reveals that Brother Hai and his team prepared a counter-operation.
  3. The masked conflict and road sequence resolve the immediate threat.
  4. The Pho Monk scene explains another connection in the operation and family history.
  5. The story advances beyond the case to the HUST graduation sequence.
  6. The route ends on Thank you, the Hust Banhmi!.

The fire and road action can look like a new failure state, but the reviewed branch continues through them. Do not abandon the run because the house is burning or because the masked fight becomes cinematic. The decisive input already occurred at Stay silent; the graduation scene is the strongest late-route signal that the True End is still intact.

The official Steam page lists an achievement with the same name as the True End card. The capture, however, does not show a fresh achievement notification. Use Steam’s actual unlock readback for achievement credit rather than treating the card alone as proof.

Refuse is the direct Missing Student branch

Return to the same three-option confrontation and select Refuse. The thug rejects the resistance, says there is no choice, and loses patience. The later scene shifts to HUST students discussing the absent cart and the missing owner, then closes on Missing Student.

This is a short bad-end branch, not a failed version of the Normal End maze. There is no verified reason to wait for the Run away prompt after selecting Refuse. Once the students begin discussing the disappearance, the result is already committed; the end card is the final readback.

For recovery, return to the latest state that still offers Agree / Stay silent / Refuse and choose Stay silent for the verified True End. The capture does not prove that changing an earlier unrelated sales, Student Point, or collectible decision is required.

Treat Lost Gold as a visible road failure, not a solved trigger

The Lost Gold footage begins with Mr. Gold riding along the road on his board. A motorcycle closes in, the riders intercept him, and the run ends on Lost Gold. Those images establish the failure itself. They do not establish which earlier day, conversation, placement, or timer exposed Mr. Gold to that road scene.

Use the visual chain as a detector:

  1. Mr. Gold is moving alone along the road.
  2. A motorcycle approaches and aligns with him.
  3. The interception completes rather than passing harmlessly.
  4. The Lost Gold card confirms the bad end.

There is no verified quick-time rescue, dialogue answer, or fixed countdown in the supplied evidence. If you are trying to avoid this ending, return to an earlier state as soon as the motorcycle interception begins and recheck how Mr. Gold entered the road sequence. If you are trying to unlock it deliberately, this package can confirm success but cannot honestly promise the missing prerequisite.

The secret epilogue is real, but its unlock order is unresolved

Brother Hai and Paralyzed Boy during The Hust Banhmi secret epilogue
The official screenshot matches the verified secret conversation, but not an unlock condition.

The secret scene brings Paralyzed Boy and Brother Hai together, discusses protected details of the operation and the mask, then moves to Colonel Grab’s order concerning the Prenn Pass. Its final question is Will Mr. Gold return?. That is enough to identify the scene when it plays.

The edited capture places this scene after the Lost Gold clip, but edit order is not unlock logic. It does not prove that Lost Gold must be viewed first, that every other ending is required, or that the scene opens after a particular achievement total. Check the current client’s Endings menu after receiving result cards, but treat any unverified “watch these in order” recipe as provisional until the game itself exposes the scene.

Scope limit: Steam lists ten achievements, while the readable community index separately advertises dishes, stickers, soundtrack items, quiz answers, Student Point events, chess, and a full playthrough. Those titles do not provide readable location or trigger instructions by themselves. This article therefore stays with the ending choices and scenes actually visible in the supplied capture; it is not an all-collectibles or 100% achievement route.
