Serpent’s Gaze quest progress is easy to lose between runs because weapons, post-boss encounters, Garden conversations, and two domains all carry state. Track the last NPC conversation and the exact quest item or boss weapon already obtained. For Mujica, alternate domains in a four-weapon sequence; for Vagabond and Witness, finish both chains before expecting their shared Rezaa scene.
Recovery and confidence boundary: the supplied Fandom Questlines URL returned HTTP 403 with only a verification shell during direct capture. Its MediaWiki API returned the readable current wikitext, which was saved separately and used here; the direct failure remains recorded. A supplied Steam guide independently points to that wiki but contains no route facts of its own. The recovered page openly marks several choices as unknown, so this guide does not claim a permanent result for Mujica’s burden choice or a guaranteed recovery after sparing the Goldclad Dreamwalker. Review date is August 13, 2026; Steam identifies the target as Early Access AppID 3069050, and the captured official news ends at patch 1.0.15442.
Record three states before leaving the Garden
Use one line per quest instead of writing only the NPC name:
- Last confirmed conversation: who spoke, where it happened, and what they requested.
- Required object or kill: the boss weapon, Mysterious Item, necklace, body part, or target already completed.
- Next spawn class: normal level encounter, post-boss interaction, or Garden hand-in.
If an NPC is absent, do not replay the entire chain from memory. Compare those three states with the next checkpoint below. Many items are awarded automatically after the correct condition, so an empty inventory slot is not proof that the action failed; the next dialogue is the confirmation.
Mujica needs four boss weapons in alternating domains
Mujica first appears during the initial entrance to Jirahka Ruins. His problem is not solved by killing one boss: each requested signature weapon must be brought back and used on him before the next target becomes active.
| Step | Run target | Hand-in checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Special Majin sword | Defeat Great Sister Vali in Jirahka Ruins and unlock Vali’s Cinderblade | Return to Mujica and strike him with the Cinderblade; speak again until he names Leirra |
| 2. The Golden Rose’s weapon | Switch to the Domain of the Attar’Esh, clear Streets of Min’Esh, defeat Leirra, and unlock the Oathbound Rapier | Use the Rapier on Mujica and continue the conversation until he asks for a mighty hammer |
| 3. Gatekeeper’s hammer | Return to Majin Lands, clear The Great Divide, defeat Gatekeeper Batoush, and unlock the Gatekeeper’s Warhammer | Strike Mujica with the Warhammer; his next clue points beneath the Great Library |
| 4. The library pair | Go back to the Attar’Esh domain, clear the Grand Library, and defeat the Typhlotic Twins for the Typhlotic Pair | Complete the associated post-boss interaction, then use the Pair on Mujica in the Garden |
Near the Typhlotic step, a post-boss scene reveals why the previous weapons failed. The current wiki describes a choice between sharing Mujica’s burden and leaving, but explicitly says the quest effect is unknown. Make a note of the selected response and keep the run; do not present either option as the required solution.
After the Typhlotic Pair also fails, Mujica’s objective changes rather than repeating. A later post-boss interaction recounts his past and grants Mujica’s Shadow Curse. Return to the Garden for his final peaceful dialogue. If the Curse did not appear, the useful diagnosis is the last post-boss scene, not another copy of the first Vali run.
Malvo’s requests advance by enemy type, not a guessed count
Malvo the Gluttonous exists in post-boss interactions. The recovered route names the required enemy families but does not publish safe numerical quotas. Let the quest dialogue and automatic pickup state decide when a stage is complete.
- After his first request, defeat Wanderers in Majin Lands until the kidney objective has registered.
- Find Malvo again after a boss. His next request targets Devotees from the Attar’Esh domain.
- At the following encounter, receive Malvo’s Toothpick and accept the request for a powerful heart.
- Defeat a qualifying strong elite; the wiki gives Sin Carriers as a working example.
- Return at the next Malvo encounter, finish the bedtime-story scene, and verify the Soul of the Gluttonous reward and Aspect of the Gluttonous unlock.
If progress stalls, confirm that the enemy belongs to the named family and that Malvo’s most recent dialogue has actually advanced. Farming an invented total before the request is active cannot prove anything.
The Vagabond route has two item searches and one dangerous choice
The Vagabond begins in Streets of Min’Esh, after the second Seed selection. She waits above a small building and gives a Bejeweled Key. Open the nearby gate, defeat the elite behind it, and obtain the Mysterious Item. Return to her before leaving so the hand-in is recorded.
Her next visible checkpoint is in Jirahka Ruins on the stairs before Great Sister Vali. After that meeting, look for her in a post-boss space. She asks for the Great Dreamer’s stolen necklace, hidden in Namah, City of Pilgrims.
For the necklace room, proceed through Namah until the long approach just before the boss section. After the falling-rock obstacle and before the blacksmith anvil, inspect the wooden planks beside the stairs leading toward the firepit. The secret room there contains the necklace objective. Do not search the entire level from the start if those two landmarks have not appeared yet.

At a later post-boss hand-in, the Vagabond asks you to deal with a Goldclad Dreamwalker. Fighting the target yields the Sacrificial Daggers. Sparing her gives an attribute increase, but the current wiki warns that the Vagabond did not subsequently appear in the Garden during that observed route and does not know whether another reconciliation exists. If completion is the goal, preserve a run or save checkpoint before choosing and do not overwrite the unresolved branch.
After the hostile branch, the Vagabond should move to the Garden. Her final request concerns the Dreamer, but that scene cannot finish until the Witness chain is also far enough along.
Advance the Witness before returning to Rezaa
The Witness alternates post-boss appearances with fixed level meetings. Use this sequence:
- First post-boss encounter: find him praying over a Watcher and complete the conversation.
- Sanguine Cathedral: speak to him on the steps after leaving the main interior, before the platforming route across the bloody lake.
- Later post-boss encounter: he prays over a Holy Hand and then fights it; assisting is possible, and the event ends with a Seed choice.
- Grand Library: find him in the small room reached after the elevator, before the Typhlotic Twins.
- Jirahka Ruins: meet him again before Great Sister Vali; he should then appear as an ally in the arena.
- Garden: speak once to receive Calculated Risk, then speak again so his warning about the Majin Lands is exhausted.
Only after the Vagabond is in the Garden and the Witness has completed those checkpoints should Rezaa, Dream Custodian be used as the final trigger. If one character does not appear after the kill, compare the fixed Sanguine Cathedral, Grand Library, Vali, and Garden conversations before repeating Rezaa.
Choose the shared ending with a protected branch
After Rezaa, the Witness opposes the Vagabond’s plan to kill the Dreamer. The recovered route documents two observable resolutions:
- Do not intervene: the Witness defeats the Vagabond and then asks the scion to pray with him.
- Defend the Vagabond: kill the Witness, after which the barrier protecting the Dreamer falls and the Dreamer can be attacked.
The wiki reports that this event can replay after later Rezaa victories, allowing the other side to be observed, but Early Access quest state can change. Confirm both NPCs are present and preserve the last reliable checkpoint before treating repetition as guaranteed.
Use absence as a locator, not a reason to guess
| Missing result | Last checkpoint to verify | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Mujica gives no new weapon request | The previous weapon was equipped, used on him, and followed by another conversation | Owning the weapon alone counts as the hand-in |
| Malvo’s item does not advance | The request was active and the defeated target belonged to the named enemy family | A fixed kill count that the source never states |
| Vagabond is absent from the Garden | The necklace hand-in and Goldclad Dreamwalker decision | The non-hostile branch has a known recovery route |
| Witness is absent at Rezaa | His Garden reward and second conversation after the Vali assistance | Boss victories automatically substitute for missed dialogue |
| The shared confrontation does not start | Both independent chains have reached their Garden state | Progress in only one chain is enough |
This package does not claim to list every future questline. The source covers Mujica, Malvo, Vagabond, and Witness at the current Early Access boundary; later NPCs, exact spawn odds, dialogue-choice permanence, and undocumented quotas remain outside the evidence.
