Keeper usually shows the destination long before it explains the interaction that reaches it. When progress stops, the answer is rarely a hidden side path. It is a state change: hold Focus Light until an object finishes reacting, give Twig a reachable anchor, recall the bird before assigning another mechanism, or change the time state so the same lever becomes solid. This walkthrough follows those state changes across all 39 chapter-select labels and spends its detail on the places where the forward route can genuinely look finished when it is not.
The route assumes an Xbox-style controller layout: Focus Light on RT, dash or boost on A, send Twig on X, and recall Twig on B. Follow the prompts shown by your own input scheme if they differ. Twelve optional statue achievements sit off the critical path; they are mapped separately in the Keeper achievement guide so the main route stays readable.
Identify the unfinished interaction before searching elsewhere
Most Keeper puzzles use one of four completion signals. A focused target blooms, breaks, or exposes a second layer. A Twig anchor changes from a perch into a crank, pull, or peck action. A time symbol changes the physical rules around Twig and the architecture. Later, a pipe or lamp carries light to a target that the lighthouse cannot hit directly. Do not leave an object as soon as it begins moving; keep the input held until the animation settles or the next anchor appears.
- The beam has no effect: sweep the nearby wall or water for a concealed growth, flower, or reflective surface. Some targets must be revealed before they can be destroyed.
- Twig reaches a control but cannot operate it: check the current time state. A ghost can cross a barrier, while a solid Twig or egg can apply force.
- A gate has several eyes or growths: one light source is normally yours and the others come from a lamp, reflected flower, or delivered bulb. Solve the supply line first.
- A moving bulb stops inside a pipe: clear contamination around the pipe, break the physical plug with a dash, or recruit a Drifter at the nearby prompt.
- A cyan face will not break: touch three live geysers quickly enough to turn cyan, then hit the face before the charge fades.
Chapters 1–10: turn movement, light, Twig, and dash into one toolset
1. The Last Beacon to 5. Luminous Cavern
The opening teaches balance before navigation. In The Last Beacon, correct a lean with small opposite-stick inputs; overcorrecting is what topples the lighthouse. Follow the only road toward the mountain through Mountain Eye. At Crumbling Ledge, the collapsing path is scripted: keep contact with the remaining edge and traverse rather than trying to jump away from it.
The Brim introduces plants that respond to the beam but does not yet require a complex solution. Keep the cave as your forward landmark. Inside Luminous Cavern, wade through the water and illuminate the flowers until the branch wall triggers the Focus Light lesson. Hold the focused beam on the obstruction until it clears. The same rule opens the cave exit: a short flash is not enough.
6. Radiant Grove and 7. The Mountain Shrine
Send Twig to the tree blocking Radiant Grove. At the first meaningful fork, the dry-looking route ahead ends at a broken bridge; descend toward the lake instead. Beyond the water, dash through the weak branch, then approach the broken bridge from below. Focus the first seed, continue through the new passage, and focus the second seed to grow the crossing back on the upper route.
Inside The Mountain Shrine, focused light drives off the rat swarms and opens the large seeds. The hanging-seed chamber is a sequence, not one long beam: activate the first seed, send Twig to expose or move the next growth, then retarget the beam. Repeat until the vines span the gap. If the bridge is only half formed, look for the next Twig anchor rather than repeating light on the previous seed.
8. Fractal Ridge and 9. Green Sanctuary
At the giant skull in Fractal Ridge, open the flower on its crown with light, send Twig, and pull when the interaction changes. The jaw becomes the bridge. In Green Sanctuary, shake fruit from the first tree, then continue until a round, crab-like creature occupies the route. Light makes it react; Twig can then pull its limb. The creature leaves a blue eye-seed. Do not walk away without it, because it is the first of the three pieces used at the next guardian.

10. The Many Eyed Tree
Send Twig to the tree’s face, place the carried blue seed, and complete the pecking prompt. The guardian raises routes to both sides. Their order does not matter, but each branch must return another blue seed.
On the frozen-pool branch, frighten the two rock creatures positioned on wooden supports so they fall onto the ice with the third. When all three stand on the frozen center, focus the group. Their synchronized jump breaks the ice and exposes the seed for Twig.
On the orchard branch, use light to grow a fruiting plant and send Twig to shake it. A ground creature eats the fruit and plants the next plot. If no creature approaches the second fruit, use Twig on the bell or tree behind the plots to call another one. Continue the grow–shake–eat cycle until the final tree produces the blue seed rather than another planting seed. Return both recovered pieces to the guardian and peck them into place. Three installed eyes open the route under its roots.
Chapters 11–16: reveal the route, assemble the Winding Gate, and work without your lamp
Root Cellar is a short connector. Dash through weak growth and climb the available ledges until the circular spaces of Morphing Labyrinth begin. Here the apparent walls are the puzzle. Sweep Focus Light across each wall; a false surface dissolves or reveals the passage behind it. At each new chamber, check the side wall before assuming the corridor ends.
13. The Winding Gate
The eye door has three gear controls but arrives with only one handle. From the door, enter the right-side route first, dash through the vines, and reach the water chamber. A hidden wall conceals the handle panel. Send Twig and trace its channel until the handle releases. Back at the earlier fork, take the other branch for the second panel. Guide that handle through its bends until Twig can carry it away.
Install both handles at the main door, recalling Twig between placements if the second anchor will not accept the bird. The initial rotation of each disc varies with what you touched during exploration, so a fixed number of turns is unreliable. Use the image on the door instead: every gold marking must flow inward toward the central eye. The top symbol points down, the middle flame-like lines aim at the eye, and the bottom line forms a continuous vertical S-shaped path. Rotation resistance and the completed gold outline confirm the solved position.
14. Graveyard, 15. Spiral, and 16. Liminal Gate
The Graveyard removes Twig and disables the lighthouse bulb. Nearby mounted lamps now provide Focus Light. Rotate each available lamp toward the branch wall or swarm, clear enough space to move the lighthouse past it, and locate the next fixed light. Trying RT from the lighthouse itself will not restore the missing power.
In Spiral, climb until a stair segment is absent. Aim the window’s light across the gap and hold it until the steps reform. Repeat at each broken section. At the top, the Liminal Gate reunion restores Twig and the lighthouse beam. Follow the opening created by the damaging pulse rather than walking directly into repeated shockwaves. The final gate has three crank stations hidden by purple growth: one to the right, one above the gate, and one to the left. Reveal each with Focus Light, send Twig, and wind it fully before moving to the next.
Chapter 17, The Horologe: treat time as a tool state, not a route order

The town square contains a broken machine and three empty medallion positions. Nearby sun and moon symbols change the environment and Twig’s form. Watch the result rather than attaching a permanent “past” or “future” label to every symbol: architecture changes between states, Twig can become a pass-through ghost, and in another state the bird becomes a weight-bearing egg. Return to the central machine after each medallion so you always know which branch is unfinished.
Full Sun medallion: move a small cog through a rotating carrier
Change the town to the state that opens the left route, cross it, then switch again at the far symbol so the bridge exists. Open the temple door with light. At the vine-covered lever, hold the beam on the obstruction while Twig pulls; move the beam along the vine as the lever travels.
The two-cog door is solved by using the large rotating piece as an elevator for the small cog. Rotate the carrier until its opening is horizontal, slide the small cog into that opening, rotate the carrier to lift it, move the small cog into the lower channel, rotate again, and slide it into the empty socket on the right. At the symbol door beyond, reveal both concealed controls with light. Arrange the Rising Sun on the left, Full Sun in the center, and Crescent Moon on the right. Twig can then collect the medallion. Reveal the exit wall and return to the square.
Crescent Moon medallion: pass as a ghost, press as a solid body
Use the right-hand town gate. Change Twig into the ghost form and send the bird through the bars, then switch states again so Twig becomes solid enough to turn the crank. The temple repeats that grammar: cross the barrier as a ghost, place Twig over the pressure device, and change state so the bird applies weight. Recall Twig after you cross each opened door.
At the rotating-platform room, first use the state in which the mechanism can be operated and bring the small platform to the lighthouse. Ride to the center, rotate the outer platform toward the far door, then change Twig to the pass-through state and send the bird to the isolated pressure control. Return Twig to a solid state to hold it down. Cross on the positioned platform, collect the Crescent Moon medallion, and reveal the return passage.
Rising Sun medallion: make the egg hold what the bird cannot
From the square, use the route behind the central machine to reach the remote crank and open the paired gates. Return toward the first temple bridge, select the state that exposes the newly opened route, and enter the Rising Sun building.
When a door is tied to a pressure pad, place Twig on the pad before changing to the egg state. The egg remains as a weight while the architecture changes. In the following room, reveal the concealed pressure device with Focus Light, move Twig onto it, and switch state only after the second device appears. At the cog room, put Twig between the gears, turn the bird into the egg, and clear the vine on the drive gear. Retrieve the third medallion, return to the square, insert all three pieces, rotate the exposed crank, then stand on and wind the lower cog. The Wither around the town breaks and the right-hand uphill route opens.
Chapters 18–24: carry the time rules into the pollen climb
In Withered Trail, continue above the robot town, send Twig to the nest, and advance until a seed is visible through the trees. Focusing it grows the bridge to the next cave. Time Passage alternates moon and sun states to repair paths and remove rubble. At the broken bridge, change state so its missing span returns. Send Twig across to extract the loose crank, backtrack to the receiving panel, and wind the drawbridge. At the last door, choose the state that makes the door usable, then let Twig turn its crank.
The Hall of Elders asks you to dock on the floor cog and aim three monolith beams at three symbols behind the door. Select one time symbol, rotate only the monolith or pair that responds in that state, and stop when its beam lands on the matching wall mark. Use the Crescent state to isolate the remaining green monolith after the shared moon state positions the blue one. All three beams must remain aligned at once.
21. Pollen Fields and 22. Pollen Falls
Dashing through the first cotton-covered vine in Pollen Fields gives the lighthouse a jump, and holding jump becomes a glide. Focus the pink cotton below a high platform to lower it; use the rising pink fumes to gain height. A platform that drifts out of reach is normally waiting for its cotton to be cleared, not for a longer running jump.
At Pollen Falls, climb the left-side floating route. Twig’s first crank unfolds a platform. Clear the cotton from the wall pressure device and place Twig on it to create the next pair of platforms. On the right, dock with the floor cog and rotate it until a passage opens through the waterfall. Use the launch plume beyond it.
23. The Great Pollen Tree and 24. Rainfall
The first waterfall in The Great Pollen Tree has a crank route on each side. On the left, guide Twig’s handle downward through the moving disc openings. Lower the access platform on the opposite side by burning away its cotton, then bring that crank down as well. Pass through the stopped water. The second basin repeats the idea at a larger scale: clear the yellow obstruction from the first crank, rotate it to expose the waterfall passage, ride the inner plume upward, and clear the second panel so Twig can lower its handle. If a waterfall is still solid, one side of the current basin remains unsolved; returning to the earlier basin will not help.
Rainfall converts dash into wind resistance. Hold the forward line and dash when a gust starts pushing the lighthouse backward. At the late fork, climb the right ledges first and focus the seed there. Return to the fork and take the left route, which is now complete. That right-side seed is the only reason the apparent left exit works.
Chapters 25–30: rebuild the interaction language as a boat

In Out of the Muck, press the prompted action repeatedly to break free; the new form reaches water by splashing rather than walking. Clapperclaw Cove teaches boost ramps: line the boat up before accelerating, and use the narrow opening on the left side of the mountain as the exit.
Slime Grotto gates the river with layered growths. Destroy every visible bulb on a barrier, then circle the chamber before deciding one is missing. A flower can reflect your beam onto a target around a corner. At the final gate, breaking the side growth opens the ceiling; the new daylight activates flowers that hit the targets you cannot reach directly. Molter Run is a short reunion sequence. Continue through the water until Twig and the smaller companion return; there is no hidden switch in the cutscene corridor.
29. The Coral Sanctum: deliver one passenger, then recover three more
Dock at the first shell to take a passenger. At the heavy gate, Twig cannot lift alone; follow the dual-stick prompt after the smaller bird joins. Deliver the passenger at the sanctuary hub. Three residents remain:
- One island is ringed by five light-sensitive growths. Circle the whole shoreline and clear all five before its dock becomes usable.
- At the central shell, focus the bushes away from the roof. The nearby creatures move to the distraction and the stranded passenger drops to the dock.
- The remaining marked island has an open pickup with no preceding mechanism.
Return all three to the hub. Pull the exposed bulb free with Twig, carry it to the central lamp, and peck it into place. The new structure projects the beam that removes the next vine wall.
30. The Lock Keeper: bulbs open the route, rescued creatures carry it
Reinsert the loose bulb in the first lamp. At the water-basket island, move the vessel beneath the falling water, then position it above the trapped one-eyed creature and light the creature’s eye to release the water. The freed companion follows the boat.
Lead the giant structure’s beam to the marked door and add your own light at the receiver. Beyond the fork, one branch hides growths and another contains a removable bulb. Return the bulb to an empty lamp to raise the next searchlight. When a lone floater will not follow, send Twig and repeat the bird-emote prompt; it then joins the group. Four rescued followers can lift the giant bone into a ramp. Take that ramp, retrieve the last bulb, ride the water current back, and fill the final lamp. The opened mouth leads into the dark-water transition.
Chapters 31–35: follow the light supply through the Wither
Outcropping briefly restores the walking lighthouse, then strands it against an incoming swarm. Focus Light delays the creatures but does not create a victory condition. Being overwhelmed is the scripted transition, so do not reload because the defense eventually fails.
32. Wither Siege
As the boat, clear polluted water and free the trapped creature that opens the first under-wall route. At a tentacle with two purple cores, raise and aim the mounted spotlight with Twig at one core while holding the boat’s beam on the other. The next blockade receives its second light from a bulb: free the ball at the far end of the pipe, allow it to travel into the lamp, then combine that lamp with your own beam.
33. Wither Sprawl
Trace the pipe backward whenever the visible core has no usable angle. Free its bulb from polluted water, dash through the physical plug, and clear the next contaminated section. In the cave, expose Twig’s crank while keeping light on the vine, rotate the green reflector toward the purple target, then sail around and hit the same target from its other side.
The pipe later breaks in two places. Rescue both nearby Drifters before pressing the assist prompts: one repairs the tube and the other forms a ramp so the boat can smash the blockage. When the bulb finally powers the lamp, destroy the other core with the boat beam. Clearing every optional pollution patch here is unnecessary for story progress but matters for the statue route in the achievement article.
34. Wither Storm and 35. Wither Run
Move right in Wither Storm and lure the burrowing creature away from each hidden growth by lighting the orange bushes. At the island convoy, guide the ball-carrying creature from bush to bush, dock to transport it across water when the land route ends, and repeat on the northern island until it feeds the ball into the pipe. Pair the powered lamp with your beam at the two-core barrier.
The cavern that follows hides several growths behind the left wall as well as visible growths on the right and around the central well. Sweep the wall slowly; the beam reveals the concealed targets. Send Twig into the opened well for a bulb. Outside, free the additional creature, pull open the purple flower for one lamp, install the recovered bulb in the other, and focus the middle core yourself. At the creature ahead, hold Focus Light to trigger the chase.
Wither Run is an escape, not a shooting puzzle. Stay in the current, steer around incoming hazards, and preserve boost for the larger gaps. The long cutscene is the correct endpoint.
Chapters 36–38: charge the rolling light, route the portals, then break three anchors

36. Atrium
The lighthouse is now a rolling spotlight. Use ramps instead of trying to cross the dark water. Hit purple growths and face switches directly. A normal purple face breaks with an ordinary charged impact; a cyan face requires the three-geyser chain. Touch the live geyser, roll through the two inactive ones before the color expires, and strike the cyan target while the light remains cyan.
In the chamber of pits, climb the left bowl by circling its wall, take the upper ramp, and break the two purple targets along the rail. That route lights two of the final geysers. Return to the entrance side, circle the right bowl, and carry the live charge through its tunnel to light the third. Chain all three and hit the central cyan face.
37. Breatheway
Hit the first red seed to open the gate and use the paired green portals. A flower patch changes the rolling light into a beam long enough to shoot a face switch. In the main chamber, follow one branch until its red seed activates the next branch; use the return portal instead of rolling all the way back. The large platform eventually gains two flower patches, which open the wall faces leading into the portal maze.
- Enter the green portal at the bottom.
- On the second tier, choose the portal on the right.
- Ignore the first portal ahead; use the jump pad to enter the second one.
- Hit the red seed, take the next jump track, ignore its first opening, and use the ramp into the second.
- Jump to the left platform and continue until another green portal moves you onward.
- Descend to the red seed, activate the nearby flower patch, and shoot the face.
- Use the next two portals, charge through the geyser into the last face, and hit the final red seed.
The main door is now live. If it remains shut, a red seed in the maze was bypassed; the portal order above is a state checklist, not merely a route to the exit.
38. Sensorium
Activate each red seed as it appears. On flower patches, destroy the moving swarm before aiming at the face switch. Carry a geyser charge into later faces and, in the circular room, keep circling through the geysers until the light turns cyan and every cyan face breaks. After the first psychedelic tunnel, hit the three red wall seeds to collapse the floor.
During the final confrontation, falling only returns the light to the lower route. Activate the far-right seed, use the wall bounce to move left, and fire from the flower patch at the tentacle blocking the climb. Continue upward using geysers and wall bounces. When Twig arrives, the bird enables three flower patches around the creature. Roll onto each patch, take beam form, and destroy one base anchor. Breaking all three ends the fight.
Chapter 39: follow the transformations and finish the eye
The Keeper is an epilogue with a final aiming check. Move toward the mountain through each form and dash through blue vines or other breakable obstacles when the prompt appears. At the large eye, aim the ray at an outer crystal until it releases, then drag that light into the smaller node nearer the iris. Repeat for the remaining crystals. The final cutscene begins after every outer crystal has been seated in an inner node.
When the route still looks blocked
| Visible problem | State to verify | Recovery |
|---|---|---|
| Twig icon appears, but no second control works | Twig is still assigned elsewhere | Recall the bird, expose the new anchor again, then resend. |
| A Horologe lever is reachable but powerless | Twig has the wrong physical form | Cross the barrier as a ghost, then change state so Twig or the egg can apply force. |
| A Pollen platform remains too high | Cotton still clings below or behind it | Sweep Focus Light under the platform before attempting another jump. |
| A boat gate retains one purple core | Only one light source is active | Trace the nearby pipe, bulb, reflector, or lamp; reserve the boat beam for the other core. |
| A pipe bulb stops moving | Contamination, physical debris, or a broken tube remains | Clear the water, dash the plug, or recruit the nearby Drifter at its prompt. |
| A cyan face ignores an impact | The three-geyser charge expired | Shorten the route, touch three live geysers in one chain, and strike while cyan. |
| Outcropping defense always ends in failure | The defeat is scripted | Keep the creatures back until the transition takes over; do not restart for a perfect defense. |
Sources and current-build boundary
This route was checked against the official Keeper Steam listing, official Steam app metadata and update announcements, and several independently readable community walkthrough references. It covers the released game identified as Steam AppID 3043580, developed by Double Fine Productions and released on October 17, 2025. The newest official gameplay update returned by the Steam news feed at research time is version 1218000 from December 18, 2025. That update includes general fixes and a Chapter Select achievement-icon fix. If a later client changes a prompt, checkpoint, or collision, follow the reaction shown by the current build rather than forcing an older input sequence.
