The opening four chapters of Bye Sweet Carole repeatedly place the next tool in a room that cannot use it yet. The reliable way through is to track what changed: which gate has power, where the hunter was lured, and whether Lana must be human, rabbit, or controlling Baesie’s head. This route follows those state changes and stops at the Class A1 door.
Version boundary: this guide reflects the released game after the December 2025 fixes. The developer corrected early tutorial prompts, several Chapter 3 interactions, and a Chapter 4 cupboard collision. Patch 3 also added Restart Chapter to the pause menu. If an old video shows a different prompt or a known blocker, use the current objective and patched interaction first.
Read the route as a chain of changed rooms
A picked-up item is rarely the whole answer. The basement fuse only matters after the crate opens the western side; the Chapter 3 crank only works when the boiler sends power toward the kitchen; the shower clue in Chapter 4 still needs a physical lock piece from the sewing-room route. When a mechanism appears dead, ask these questions in order:
- Is Lana in the correct form? Human Lana operates handles and inventory objects; rabbit Lana enters vents, wall-jumps, and survives longer drops.
- Did another room redirect the power? Chapter 3 deliberately reuses the boiler and kitchen cranks for different destinations.
- Did the hunter hear a lure? A bell or breakable item moves Miss Fisherin, but only after she reaches the noise is the former patrol lane safe.
- Did the world visibly change? Look for an open grate, lit generator, moved cage, or powered panel before crossing a dangerous room.
Chapter 1: let the letter teach the chase rules
In the garden, inspect the letter in the tree before trying force. Kick the trunk, move the bench under the tree, climb it, and keep attempting to take the letter as it drifts around the garden. After the small rabbit steals it, follow the appearances in the grass and complete the wall QTE. The rabbit escaping is the intended result; the route continues through the hole in the wall.
Outside the garden, keep the balance indicator centered while crossing the ledge. Cut free from the hanging trap, cross the stream, and treat the forest as a forward chase. When the top-hatted pursuer appears in the water, run right, climb the log, and complete the prompted sequence to break through it.
The vine encounter inside the cave is another scripted failure. Do not restart merely because Lana falls. Swim right, leave the pool, then use the climbable vines immediately before the one-eyed creature rather than jumping toward the dead-end ledge beyond it. Shaking platforms fail after Lana stands on them, so sprint across and commit to the rightward escape when Mr. Kyn returns.
Chapter 2: assemble the basement chain before ringing the bell
Open the basement window with the hanging handle, take the broom upstairs, and inspect the electrical panel so Lana identifies the blown fuse. Clean the first dirty patch, but before using the new door, push the ground-floor crate left. Climb over the tall cabinet to collect both the mousetrap and the toolbox key. This detour prevents a later trip through the owl’s patrol.
In the eastern room, open the toolbox and take the screwdriver. Cleaning the second patch reveals the old mailbox; interacting with it both establishes the save point and satisfies the basic mailbox action. Continue through the upper route, retreat before the floor collapses, cross the ledge, and remove the boards with the screwdriver. The fuse is on the upper western side. Drop the ladder shortcut, install the fuse in the original panel with the screwdriver, and only then pull the bell handle.
Ms. Mildred brings lunch after the bell. Combine the cheese with the mousetrap, set it beside the mouse hole reached by the shortcut ladder, and return with the trapped mouse. Approaching the owl sends the chase into the eastern room. Keep moving through the upper loop until the bird leaves through the window; then open the metal vent with the screwdriver and release the mouse.
The final water-and-fire route begins beyond that vent. Take the cookware-cabinet key from the bookshelf, pull the hanging candle, and use the newly opened ladder. Trigger the one-eyed creature and step back before it bursts. Remove the newspaper from the pipe, descend, and open the faucet. Back near the mailbox, the mirror breaks and the keyed cabinet can now be opened. Fill the cooking pot at the flowing pipe, then carry the water to the furnace. A cutscene, not another manual action, closes the chapter.
Chapter 3: route one boiler to three different jobs
Rabbit Lana begins in the attic. Crawl through the small opening, wall-jump upward, and meet the headless Baesie downstairs to receive the ribbon. From here, human form operates machinery while rabbit form handles vents and vertical gaps. Restore the dumbwaiter, drop the barrel, and kick it left so it releases a crate. Put that crate beneath the attic handle; using the handle bursts the pipe and opens the escape vent.
Miss Fisherin reacts to sound in the kitchen. Ring the bell on one side, let her commit to that investigation, then cross in rabbit form. Take the room key from the counter and inspect the crankless pipe panel before entering the elevator room. Downstairs, use the key on Miss Fisherin’s room. Collect the tinderbox, examine the sealed letter panel, and be ready to hide beside the bed when the inkpot breaks. Hold your breath until the hunter actually leaves, then inspect the spill to learn that the writing needs heat.
In the boiler room, drop through the small gap for coal, place it in the boiler, light it with the tinderbox, and turn the boiler crank clockwise. That setting powers the upper path and opens the right-side grate. Cross as rabbit Lana, climb to the cabinet, and take the missing crank. Install it on the kitchen pipe panel, but do not expect it to move until the boiler has been redirected.
The cage-key route requires two deliberate power changes:
- Turn the boiler counterclockwise so the kitchen panel becomes live.
- Lure Miss Fisherin away from the kitchen, then turn the kitchen crank clockwise. This energizes the second boiler-room gate.
- Back at the boiler, turn its crank clockwise, pass the first opening, and cross the second gate before it closes. Take the piece of meat.
- Use the wall switch beneath the lamp. The lower panel across the gap becomes available and the exit gate reopens.
- Drop to that panel and take the cage key. The hunter arrives immediately, so leave rather than trying to change another mechanism.
Failure signal: if the meat counter is unreachable, the kitchen crank did not receive power. If the lower key panel stays closed, the lamp switch was not pressed after crossing the gates.
The elevator needs parts, a revealed clue, and final power
The cage rises before Lana can use the key. Take the first small metal part from the newly exposed wall crack, rotate the kitchen crank counterclockwise, and return to Miss Fisherin’s room after luring her away. The powered panel now yields the stinky letter.
Send power back toward the elevator-room machinery by turning the boiler counterclockwise. Before leaving the boiler, heat the stinky letter at its door to reveal the symbol order. Put the meat into the grinder, operate it, and collect the second metal part from the bucket. Both parts repair the elevator lock.
Enter the symbols in this order: top hat, owl, rabbit. An open gate does not mean the lift is ready. For the last electrical state, turn the boiler clockwise, press the upper wall switch, return the boiler counterclockwise, and then activate the elevator panel. If the gate opens but the call button remains dark, one of those final three changes is missing.
Use Baesie’s damaged states as puzzle tools
Upstairs, recover the umbrella and unlock Baesie’s cage. Turn the nearby crank as Lana to move the right-side columns, then send Baesie’s head through. Push the barrel beneath the wall button and use it to start the left columns. Let a falling column compress the head; this is a traversal state, not a failed attempt. The flattened head can pass beneath the press and reach the switch that starts the larger machine.

When the owl appears, switch to Lana and cross the moving machinery to pull the hanging handle. This opens the heated upper passage. Ride a column upward as Baesie’s head, cross the flame to ignite him, and touch the debris on the lower side. Burning the obstruction drives the owl away and gives Lana a clean route to the letter.
Chapter 4: take the shower clue before entering the sewing room
Follow Marcel’s letter out of the dormitory, but treat the apparent Vicky encounter as a warning: Mr. Kyn is already using disguises. Run back toward the stairs and use a locker or the gap between beds until the chase state ends. At Class A1, inspect both the combination lock and its missing physical tile before continuing.
Save near the top-floor security grille, then investigate the two shower levels. On the upper floor, take the matchbox, break the boards, enter the left side as rabbit Lana, and read the drain sign. Light the upper alternator and turn its crank until the flame is strong. Start the first shower; the mirror exposes 957. Also open the wall faucet before leaving.
After the stairwell scene, wait out Mr. Kyn and enter the lower shower. Light its alternator, but leave that crank alone. Water from the upper setup now lets the lower hanging handle break a hole in the wall. Move the stool left, switch to rabbit form, and enter that hole. The code is known, but the classroom still cannot open until the missing lock piece is recovered.
The sewing-room hunter is a moving sightline puzzle
Lift the security grilles from the control panel and enter the sewing room. Once Lana loses the ribbon, direct combat is not an option. Use the moving dress as cover, keep its fabric between Lana and the red-eyed hunter, and step on the pressure plate that powers the next switch. Activate that switch only when the hunter faces away; it enables the far dumbwaiter.
At the left side, trigger the flash to blind the hunter, vault the table, and take the dumbwaiter upward. The next flash has a delay, so press its switch before the monster reaches the lane, run to the locker key, and use the same timing to escape through the vent. Recover the ribbon, close the shutter with the crank, then use the key on Miss Hinman’s locker.
The locker contains the missing Class A1 padlock. Return to the classroom after losing Mr. Kyn, fit the padlock, and enter 9-5-7. If the digits do nothing, confirm that the padlock is installed; the visible combination alone is not enough.
Recover from a broken interaction without losing the whole save
The current PC build includes fixes for incorrect tutorial prompts, Chapter 3 levers and Baesie states, and a Chapter 4 cupboard collision. A prompt that differs from launch footage is not automatically a bug. Re-enter the required form, step away from the interaction, and confirm the preceding grate or power light first.
If a necessary object or prompt still fails to appear, use Restart Chapter from the pause menu rather than replaying the entire game. Chapter restart was added officially in Patch 3. For the next electrical, quarry, dance, and time-travel sequence, continue with the Chapters 5-7 route. Players planning missables should instead keep the 34-achievement order beside the walkthrough.
