The Pale Mimic has 11 Steam achievements, but only two are normal ending rewards. Seven require physical evidence items, one asks for a timed shot at the watcher, and one has a small Rocky interaction during the contact emergency. The secret ending becomes available only after the evidence set is complete and the cabin’s Items of Interest box is used on the final day.
Plan this as a dated evidence run, not as a second full walkthrough. The calendar advances one-way through the demonstrated story, so collect an item before closing its event. If the current objective becomes a fast cabin return, take only a pickup already beside the route; do not turn a short detour into an unsupported forest search.
The achievement board divides into four jobs
| Job | Achievements | What must be done |
|---|---|---|
| Evidence pickups | Willing Volunteer, Introductions, Keep Your Secrets, Spec Ops, Nostalgia, Experimentation, Uncovered | Collect all seven physical items before the last-day archive check. |
| Dated actions | No Rush, I See You | Interact with Rocky during the contact call; shoot the watcher at the start of January 25. |
| Normal finish | The End | Reach the end without activating the all-evidence archive condition. |
| Alternate finish | Closure | Complete the evidence set, use the Items of Interest box on the final day, then finish. |
The global achievement page leaves No Rush and I See You descriptions hidden. Their actions below therefore carry different confidence: I See You has a dated visual reference; No Rush currently rests on one community report and should be treated as a checkpoint test.
Take the two cabin-area recordings before dates become distracting
Introductions — Audio Log 1: walk behind the small meat shed where carcasses are stored. The recorder lies on the snow close to the rear wall. Pick it up before using the calendar after an early hunt; no dangerous long detour is needed.
Willing Volunteer — Jumpsuit Scrap: this is the one early item that sits away from the cabin buildings. The current location reference places it in the broad basin northwest of the cabin star, on snow beside a conifer. Use the pause-map to keep the cabin star southeast of your position, then sweep the ground rather than the branches. The scrap is brown against blue-white snow and its description identifies “Subject 3.”
These pickups can be checked in the cabin’s Items of Interest display. Use that display as a ledger: if the expected slot remains empty, do not assume that merely walking over the object counted. Return and wait for the pickup interaction/readback.
January 7 combines Keep Your Secrets with the No Rush test
When the contact calls for help, do not leave the instant the objective appears if you still need No Rush. A current player report says to pet Rocky several times during this call, before following him to the crashed vehicle. Because the hidden Steam description supplies no confirmation and only one report was readable, use a controlled check: interact repeatedly with Rocky, watch for the achievement notification, then proceed. If it does not unlock, reload the available pre-departure state if the game offers one rather than inventing a later trigger.
At the crash, take the Contacts’ Journal from the snow beside the truck for Keep Your Secrets. It is next to the vehicle, so collect it before the objective changes into the urgent return. Do not follow the distant human-like screams; the journal is the only optional task this evidence run needs at the wreck.
After January 20, check directly behind the cabin for Spec Ops
Spec Ops unlocks when the Military Dog Tags are picked up. The original guide labeled them as a March 3 pickup, but a same-day correction says they can appear on any day after January 20. The stable part of the location is stronger than the date: they lie on the ground directly behind the cabin.
Start checking after the January 20 hunt. Walk outside, circle behind the cabin wall, and inspect the snow near the structure rather than roaming toward the shed. If the tags are absent, continue the story and repeat this short check before each calendar advance. This preserves the date uncertainty without sacrificing the run.
January 25: shoot the watcher before starting the antibiotic run
Rocky’s illness begins the antibiotic objective. Before heading east to the crashed truck, stop just outside the cabin and look high into the trees ahead. The verified reference shows the Mimic standing upright between trunks, partly lost in fog. Put the shotgun on that figure and fire. The hit is tied to I See You.

Do not chase after the shot. The actionable confirmation is the achievement notification, and the active story job is still to retrieve the medicine. If the figure is not visible, avoid spending all ammunition on shadows; reload the start of January 25 if available and check the treeline before moving far enough to advance the scene.
February 19 and 24 place two items on mandatory routes
Nostalgia — Abandoned Picture: on the February 19 hunt, follow Rocky until the route bends through a rocky gap. The photograph is propped on a low snow-covered rock at the side of the path. It is visible with Rocky in front of the player, so take it before continuing to the animal. The date matters because the guide explicitly attaches this sighting to February 19.
Experimentation — Audio Log 2: on February 24, the failed radio sends Jason to the receiver dish. At the antenna, inspect the snow at the base of the equipment. The small recorder lies immediately beside the installation. Pick it up before completing the repair or leaving the ridge.
The first and second recordings unlock separate achievements. Finding Audio Log 2 does not backfill Introductions; use the Items of Interest box to confirm both recorder slots are populated.
March 9: take the Dossier before the crash route pulls away
Uncovered is attached to the Dossier at the helicopter wreck. When the March 9 objective says to investigate the crash site, search the snow beside the wreckage and rock face before collecting the flight recorder. The dossier appears as a tan folder close to the helicopter body.
After the recorder, the objective sends Jason along blood trails to the pilots and then orders a quick cabin return. Those handoffs make a late search awkward. The efficient order is Dossier, flight recorder, blood trail, pilots, cabin. Only the first item is optional; the rest advance the main event.
Use the cabin box on the last day to commit to Closure
Before the final Find Rocky sequence, inspect the cabin table. The dark storage case beside the kettle is labeled Items of Interest. With all seven pickups recorded, interact with this box on the last day. The current secret-ending reference identifies that interaction as the branch trigger.

Then finish the Rocky search and final confrontation normally. The alternate result awards Closure. The supplied gameplay video completed the default route and did not independently demonstrate this branch, so the exact ending presentation is intentionally not expanded beyond the readable trigger and achievement result.
If the box does not offer a meaningful interaction, stop before advancing. Recheck the seven entries: Jumpsuit Scrap, Audio Log 1, Contacts’ Journal, Military Dog Tags, Abandoned Picture, Audio Log 2, and Dossier. A missing dated object is a collection-state problem, not a reason to repeat the final fight.
A one-run date sheet
- Early free movement: Audio Log 1 behind the meat shed; Jumpsuit Scrap in the northwest basin.
- January 7: pet Rocky several times for the cautious No Rush test; take Contacts’ Journal beside the crashed truck.
- After January 20: check the snow directly behind the cabin for Military Dog Tags on each safe return.
- January 25: shoot the Mimic in the upper treeline before leaving for antibiotics.
- February 19: pick up Abandoned Picture from the rock beside Rocky’s hunt route.
- February 24: take Audio Log 2 from the snow beside the receiver dish.
- March 9: take the Dossier beside the helicopter before the flight recorder.
- Final day: verify every display entry and use the Items of Interest box before finding Rocky.
For the required hunts, door decisions, antibiotics, receiver repair, helicopter objectives, and default final encounter, use the retail story walkthrough. Those steps are not repeated here because none of the seven evidence pickups changes how the normal survival loop works.
Evidence limits and current build
Steam’s current appdetails lists 11 achievements and the public global page exposes the nine named descriptions while leaving No Rush and I See You blank. The seven item locations and archive-box condition were checked against readable same-day community guides; the No Rush action remains a single-report method and is labeled accordingly. Community screenshots were used only to verify locations and were not republished here.
The game released on August 17, 2026 and does not publish a numbered retail patch on its Steam page as of this check. Official Steam JPGs provide the article media. Demo material was excluded from achievement and ending claims because its 15-20 minute scope predates these retail events.
