Hotel Architect Achievement Roadmap: Campaign Order and Risky Cleanup

Hotel Architect character creator used for the Unique character achievement

Hotel Architect has 37 Steam achievements in the current AppID 1602000 list. The efficient route is not to chase them in global-rarity order. Finish the campaign while preserving useful hotels, pair every location completion with its five-star cleanup, let long staff careers mature in a tall map, and isolate destructive or experimental triggers in manual saves.

This roadmap uses Steam’s official achievement names and descriptions captured on August 20, 2026, plus a readable 1.0 community guide for triggers that Steam hides. Two official entries, Cash Elite! and Blow ’em up!, expose no public description on the global-achievement page. Their methods remain community-verified rather than official instructions.

Prepare three save types before the cleanup

Keep your campaign hotels, but do not experiment in the only copy of a good one. Use:

  • Campaign saves for scenario completions, five-star ratings, and location-specific tasks.
  • A long-career save for staff levels, retirement, 150 employees, Tier 5 research, art, stocks, and sandbox unlock preparation. New York or Las Vegas can support the scale.
  • Disposable manual saves for vomit, freezing, radioactive waste, Age Manipulator tests, cash manipulation, or any step that can damage staff and guests.

Disable or enable optional systems deliberately. Ghost, staff-aging, and salary settings can change whether a cleanup trigger is available. The 1.0 launch added scenario customization, but the current achievement may still require the relevant system to be active. Record the setting before assuming a trigger is broken.

Pass one: take the eight scenario completions

The campaign has eight location achievements. Complete the main objectives shown by the current scenario, save before the final objective, and keep the resulting hotel for its later five-star pair.

Achievement Official condition Roadmap use
Gothenburg Complete the Gothenburg scenario. Learn the compact room loop and Tier 1 to Tier 2 transition.
Santorini Complete the Santorini scenario. Good candidate for the later Challenging-difficulty clear.
Paris Complete the Paris scenario. Preserve a hotel that can reach the full luxury ladder.
St. Anton Complete the St. Anton scenario. Keep a manual save for the cold-weather trigger.
New York Complete the New York scenario. Useful long-career tower and late staff-capacity save.
Las Vegas Complete the Las Vegas scenario. Keep camera access to the skyline and a working casino.
London Complete the London scenario. Useful for debt, opportunities, stocks, and five-star recovery.
Black Forest Complete the Black Forest scenario. Preserve the Lord Karthor state and high-value hotel.

Do not force five stars before a location has access to the needed tier upgrades. The 1.0 tree requires Gym in Tier 1; Restaurant and Special Bedroom Amenities in Tier 2; Bar plus Premium Bedding and Bathing in Tier 3; and Spa plus Luxurious Bedding and Bathing in Tier 4. It is often faster to progress, unlock the missing system, then return.

Pass two: pair every map with its five-star achievement

Eight more achievements track five stars:

Location Achievement Cleanup focus
Gothenburg Meatballs and 5 Stars Return with later facilities and upgrade tiers; do not overbuild the small map.
Santorini Sunbathing in 5 Stars Control temperature and serve the intended leisure guests.
Paris 5 Stars by the Eiffel Tower Use this as the first full luxury-system test.
St. Anton 5 Stars at the slopes Stabilize heat, service, sauna, bar, and late rooms before the review.
New York 5 Stars by the Statue of Liberty Prototype one premium floor before converting the tower.
Las Vegas A fabulous 5 Stars Keep casino volatility separate from the critic’s basic stay.
London 5 Stars by Big Ben Finish debt recovery first, then rebuild guest-facing quality.
Black Forest 5 Stars in Black Forest Use the large footprint, but protect staff routes and turnover.

Repair the critic’s weakest category rather than guessing. The official 1.0 rules allow a critic to raise the hotel by more than one star when requirements are met, so an old one-star-per-visit rule no longer applies. Keep the critic in a strong reachable room, make required facilities operational, and verify food, drink, luggage, room service, cleaning, and activity completion.

A five-star room is not enough if the critic cannot finish a meal or waits for towels. Conversely, a plain hallway should not trigger a complete rebuild when the review identifies one weak bathroom or unavailable activity. Take a manual save before the review, make one evidence-based change, and compare the next result.

Collect the no-risk menu and finance achievements early

These achievements require little or no campaign disruption:

  • Unique character: create and save a character in the Character Creator. No elaborate design is required.
  • Bankers Best Friend: repay a loan. Use a small loan or a scenario that already requires repayment; keep interest and the cash buffer visible.
  • Welcome to Sandbox!: get the first check-in in Sandbox Mode. Build a minimal valid hotel, enable it, and let one guest complete reception.
  • Pump ‘N Dump: sell a stock at a profit. Unlock the market, buy a small position, and sell only when the current value is above the purchase value.

The stock achievement does not require risking a campaign’s operating cash. Use a profitable late hotel and a small position. If the price falls, wait or reload the manual save rather than liquidating service equipment.

Build one training employee into four achievements

Keep one staff member in a busy role, level them naturally, and use the staffroom training table. This can produce:

  • Mopping Master: teach the cleaner the mop mastery skill named by the current training panel.
  • Vacuum Master: teach the cleaner the vacuum mastery skill.
  • Overqualified: fill all five available skill slots on one employee. The 1.0 system allows up to five skills and ties additional salary expectation to training.
  • Breaking Sound Barriers: reach 200 percent movement speed on one employee through compatible movement skills and any current hotel bonuses.

Read the calculated movement speed before spending the final skill slot. The community route combines movement training such as Speedwalking and Sprinting Pro, but a patch can rebalance values. Add one skill, check the stat, and stop when the achievement registers.

Do not make the same person your retirement candidate if you train Longevity Protocols. The official upgrade-tree and management posts confirm that late skills can alter aging. Keep separate employees for the speed build and the natural-career timer.

Let the long-career save handle retirement and headcount

Pension Liability asks for a staff member to reach retirement age. Hire a young employee early in a scenario you expect to run for many days, leave staff aging enabled, and avoid the skill that freezes aging. Do not try to force this with the Age Manipulator: the community guide reports that the machine did not satisfy retirement and can kill the subject.

HR Nightmare requires at least 150 hired staff at one hotel. Save it for a wealthy completed map with most staff-limit upgrades researched. Build a temporary holding area if new hires interfere with guest routes, then recruit across all job categories over multiple applicant refreshes.

Before starting the 150-person push:

  1. make a manual save you will not use for normal play;
  2. finish staff-limit research;
  3. hold enough cash for several days of salaries;
  4. pause while hiring so the roster cannot destabilize the hotel mid-process;
  5. wait for the Steam notification before dismissing the surplus.

This is a count check, not a staffing lesson. Do not preserve the bloated roster in your main hotel.

Use St. Anton for Freeze and a disposable kitchen for Funny tummy

Freeze! requires a guest to freeze into ice. The dedicated Steam guide and the broader achievement guide both place the practical trigger in St. Anton. Use a manual save, create or choose a guest room without adequate heat, and watch the temperature state. Restore heating or reload immediately after the achievement; do not spread the failure through the hotel.

Funny tummy requires a guest to vomit. Community testing uses a deliberately dirty cooking setup and inadequate food handling. This is destructive to health, reviews, and possibly the critic. Use a disposable save with an operating restaurant, reduce oven cleaning, and let an unwell meal complete. Reload when the trigger appears.

Neither cleanup should be attempted during a fragile scenario objective. The point is to create one controlled failure, not to discover how much collateral damage the hotel can survive.

Bundle the ghost and Age Manipulator achievements at Tier 5

The ghost cluster contains four achievements:

  • Ghosts! – have a ghost at the hotel;
  • Ghostbuster! – capture a ghost;
  • Timeless Exchange – use the Age Manipulator;
  • Say No to Darkness – defeat Lord Karthor.

The 1.0 achievement guide reports that the Age Manipulator moved to Tier 5 research. Use a late hotel with Upper Crust checkouts or other Tier 5 point income. Train a maintenance employee in Ghostbuster, place the Age Manipulator in a reachable staffroom, then make a manual save.

Community testing reports that Extract Youth can kill the employee used in the machine and spawn a ghost. That can combine Timeless Exchange, Ghosts!, and Ghostbuster!, but it is not a harmless official tutorial. Confirm the mode, preserve the save, use a disposable hire, and wait for each notification before reloading.

Lord Karthor belongs to Black Forest. The community route says Ghostbuster training advances his state, after which he teleports. Pause when he appears, place the trained maintenance worker close to him, resume, and verify the capture animation. This sequence is community evidence; follow any changed live objective or character prompt first.

Use London debt to surface Dangerous Game

Dangerous Game requires accepting a Radioactive Waste land-leasing offer. The 1.0 launch reworked Opportunities so they appear when needed, and community guides report that poor credit in London often exposes the radioactive offer.

Do not destroy a stable hotel just to lower credit without a manual save. In a debt-heavy London state, watch the Opportunity area. When Radioactive Waste appears, accept and place it far from staff and guest paths. Community testing warns that contamination can pass beyond the immediate object area. Wait for the achievement, then sell it if the client allows or reload.

The trigger is accepting the named offer, not keeping the waste forever. Availability is conditional, so no reliable article can promise an exact day.

Finish the luxury pair on a rich late hotel

Impressive Art asks for an Upper Crust guest to rate Art at 100 percent. Use a five-star hotel that already serves Upper Crust guests. Place a high-end artwork in a guest-facing route or the assigned room, confirm the guest can see and use the surrounding space, then watch that guest’s art category. Buying expensive art before Upper Crust demand exists only ties up cash.

Cash Elite! has no description on the official global page. The supplied community guide reports a trigger at an exact remaining cash balance of 1,337, achieved by moving other cash into the casino reserve. Because the official condition is hidden, treat that as a current community method, not a permanent definition.

Use a Las Vegas manual save with enough money and a casino reserve:

  1. pause and record total cash;
  2. move money into the casino reserve until the main balance displays exactly 1,337;
  3. wait briefly for the notification;
  4. reload if no trigger appears rather than damaging the working reserve.

If a current build exposes a description or rejects the method, the live achievement state wins.

Use Las Vegas for the hidden UFO trigger

Blow ’em up! also has no official public description. The 1.0 community route identifies a UFO above the mesa in Las Vegas: go to a high floor, zoom out, rotate the camera, locate the object, and click it.

Keep the camera on the highest available floor so the skyline is visible. Rotate slowly; the object is easy to miss and the report says one click is enough. Wait for the Steam notification. Since the method depends on a hidden environmental target, a later lighting or camera update could alter visibility without changing the achievement name.

Do the Challenging clear on a map you already understand

Doing it the Hard Way requires completing any scenario except Gothenburg on Challenging difficulty. Santorini is a practical choice because its objectives arrive early in the campaign and the map is easier to relearn than London or Black Forest.

Use the standard scenario order, but protect cash and service margins:

  • build the smallest room block that supports the objective;
  • solve heat before adding unnecessary guest capacity;
  • keep the construction queue short;
  • hire only after a visible workload appears;
  • verify the difficulty label before completing the final objective.

The community author reports that Gothenburg did not trigger it, matching the official exclusion. Do not attempt to bypass that condition.

Run a final 37-name reconciliation

Before troubleshooting a missing trigger, compare Steam’s unlocked list against this complete name set:

If a trigger fails, capture the game build, location, difficulty, optional-system settings, current achievement description, and the exact state you produced. Then retry from the manual save with one variable changed. Do not repeat a destructive setup in the main campaign without knowing which state failed.

Reconcile the version before retrying a trigger

Steam’s official global page lists 37 achievements at capture time. Unlock percentages are intentionally excluded from this roadmap because they change and do not prove difficulty. Official appdetails also reports 37. The broad community guide began before 1.0, then added post-launch sections; its explicit uncertainty is preserved here instead of being upgraded into fact.

Verified official conditions are reported as conditions. The Age Manipulator death sequence, the 1,337 cash method, the Las Vegas UFO, the suggested Santorini Challenging route, and detailed Lord Karthor positioning are community methods. Save first, prefer current UI text, and expect a later patch to move a trigger without changing the achievement list.

Confirm the current release on Hotel Architect’s official Steam page before repeating a long or destructive setup.
