Soul’s Remnant Crafting Minigame: Cards, Gap Percentages, Turns, and Rerolls

A Soul's Remnant character standing beside a forge and merchant area at Spawn

Soul’s Remnant crafting is a sequence of shrinking opportunities. A percentage card improves the distance between a line’s current value and its ceiling, not the line’s current number. The same card that transforms an early roll may barely move a nearly finished one, so turns and rerolls should be spent according to the gap that still exists.

This guide follows the official Crafting and Gathering pages plus the August 18 and August 20, 2026 patches. The current client says profession Level; older pages and screenshots may say Proficiency. The August 18 patch also fixed profession EXP that had not been working correctly.

Inspect the recipe before collecting blindly

Open Crafting with the comma key by default. Select a profession and click a recipe. Even a locked recipe shows its material requirement and required profession Level; the item image is darkened and the requirement appears in red when you cannot attempt it yet.

Turn that interface into a shopping list:

  1. Confirm the exact profession and required Level.
  2. Record each ingredient and count from the current client.
  3. Use World Map search to locate visible maps containing the needed resource.
  4. Check storage before gathering a duplicate stockpile.
  5. Return only when the complete recipe and any planned support buff are ready.

Fan recipe pages are useful discovery aids, but several are marked work-in-progress and use old names. Do not infer a material count from another weapon in the same family. The recipe panel in your current build is the final pre-craft readback.

Know whether the button starts a craft or a decision run

Some Alchemy and other utility recipes complete instantly. An available Auto Craft option also bypasses the card decision loop. Most equipment crafts open the minigame instead. Entering it commits you to building the resulting item’s Stats and Echoes through a limited set of choices.

The preview shows the item in the upper-left and its evolving Stats/Echoes in the upper-right. Three cards are offered at a time, with remaining turns and rerolls displayed nearby. Each selection spends a turn, then resolves the printed effect. A reroll replaces the offered set so you can choose from a different group.

When no turns remain, the item is created with the final previewed lines and placed in its inventory tab. Closing the interface midway is not a safe undo strategy; decide how much value is already acceptable before the first choice.

Percentage cards close the missing gap

Suppose a line is currently 3.0 and the recipe’s maximum for that line is 12.0. The missing gap is 9.0. A 50% card closes half of that gap, adding 4.5 and producing 7.5. It does not add half of 3.0.

If the same line has already reached 11.0, only 1.0 is missing. A 50% card then adds about 0.5. The card text is identical, but the value of the choice is nine times smaller. Most results round upward to one decimal place, with whole-number lines receiving their own rounding behavior.

This closing-gap model creates two rules:

  • Large percentage cards are most transformative while a desired line is far from its ceiling.
  • Late turns should not be wasted polishing a nearly complete line when another important line is still far behind.

Perfection is possible, but repeated percentage gains have diminishing impact. A strong item that solves its loadout’s job can be the correct finish even when one line is not mathematically maxed.

Spend rerolls on bad sets, not on ordinary anxiety

A reroll has option value: it refuses all three current cards in exchange for a new set. Its best use is when every offered choice harms the build plan, invests in an irrelevant line, or spends a late turn for a negligible gain.

Before the first turn, define three priorities:

  1. Primary line: the stat that makes the crafted item worth producing.
  2. Survival floor: the minimum defensive or resource value required for its intended content.
  3. Acceptable secondary: a line that is helpful enough to take when the primary choices are poor.

During early turns, select meaningful growth instead of rerolling because the ideal card did not appear. In the middle, compare the live gaps. Near the end, reroll a set only when all three choices are worse than preserving the current item state. A reroll cannot help after the final turn has been spent.

Profession Levels produce more than recipe access

Completing a craft awards EXP to its profession. As a profession Level rises, it unlocks recipes and, at certain milestones, additional turns or rerolls for that profession. Those permanent improvements change the expected quality of every later attempt.

The official Crafting page also notes that crafting above a recipe’s required Level improves the chance of producing Echoes. That makes an easy repeat craft potentially useful for progression, but only if its material cost and output still make sense. Do not consume a rare ingredient merely because the recipe grants profession EXP.

Support can also come from equipment Echoes and temporary food buffs. If a food adds turns or rerolls, inspect the duration before beginning another craft. A buff that expired between material sorting and the first card will produce fewer decisions than the plan assumed.

Choose the profession by output

Profession Current role Decision to verify
General Selected equipment and Campfires Is the item actually in a specialist profession instead?
Alchemy Potions, materials, utility, and related conversions Is it instant, Auto Craft, or card-based?
Weapon Smithing Weapons Does the recipe match the damage type and item level needed?
Armor Crafting Hats, topwear, bottomwear, and shoes Which slot-specific Echo pool can the result use?
Jeweler Accessories Are the desired lines possible on this category?
Cooking Food and temporary buffs Will the duration cover the task or next craft?
Artisan Currently instruments; furniture is planned Is the desired output implemented in this build?
Transmutation Changes a weapon’s Element using Alchemy-made Matters Is Alchemy level 15 reached, and is this the correct weapon?

Older fan pages may call metal work “Blacksmithing.” The current official profession list separates Weapon Smithing from Armor Crafting, so use the in-client category rather than an old umbrella label.

Gather with a recipe target

Mining and Gathering begin by activating the relevant skill to reveal nodes on the current map. Walk to a revealed node and press the Interact key, Spacebar by default. The node then presents directional inputs; completing the chosen sequence awards the corresponding option.

Fishing uses a different control loop. Cast the skill into water. When the yellow alert appears, activate Fishing again, then use Left and Right to keep the fish inside the gray box. The August 20 patch made this minigame run at the same speed regardless of frame rate and outlined the catch alert for visibility.

Soul's Remnant players fighting and traveling through an underwater map
A gathering trip is efficient when travel, combat, resource research, and a known recipe share the same route.

First-time Gathering users now receive a tutorial, and resource research has benefits similar in purpose to monster research. Luck of the Sea can also produce treasure such as Souls, Passes, or Mirages while fishing. Those additions are opportunities, not a stable guaranteed-return formula.

Use the World Map search for a named resource before committing to a long trip. Visible maps containing the material appear in the sidebar, and hovering the listed resource shows its base appearance chance. Hidden maps are not exposed by this tool, so a blank search is not proof that an old resource location is gone.

The August 20 cooking changes alter support plans

The August 20 update added Item Drop and Double Drop cards to Cooking’s minigame. Food can roll fishing-related stats, and backpacks can roll a Cooking Reroll line. A crafting-support food therefore needs two evaluations: how good the crafted meal is, and whether its timed buff will still be active when the supported craft or gathering run begins.

Do not eat the support item while reorganizing storage or recruiting a party. Put the ingredients and target recipe in order first, activate the food immediately before the relevant sequence, and confirm the expected turn/reroll count when the minigame opens.

A complete craft has four readbacks

  1. Recipe readback: correct profession, Level, materials, and output.
  2. Minigame readback: remaining turns/rerolls and the live gap on important lines.
  3. Inventory readback: the finished item arrived in the expected tab with the previewed Stats/Echoes.
  4. Protection readback: lock the finished item before selling, disassembling, rerolling, or transferring anything nearby.

Once a crafted equipment piece enters the inventory, it follows the normal Echo rules. Item level limits its line values, slot category limits its line pool, and a Transitive Soul can destroy the wrong donor. Use the Echoes and Souls safety guide before extending a good craft with rare materials.

Repair the stage that failed

Symptom Probable stage Correction
The recipe is visible but cannot start Profession Level or ingredient requirement Read the red requirement instead of guessing from a similar item
A 50% card barely moves the line The remaining gap is already small Invest the turn in a weaker important line
The minigame has fewer turns than expected Support food expired or the wrong crafting gear is equipped Rebuild the preparation order before the next recipe
Gathering shows no nodes Skill was not activated or the map lacks that resource Cast the skill, then verify the material with World Map search
Fishing timing feels inconsistent with old video Pre-August-20 frame-rate behavior Use the current alert and fixed-speed minigame
A crafted item looks rare but performs poorly Low item-level ceiling or irrelevant lines Compare the actual values with the assigned loadout job

A craft is finished when the result is valuable for its intended job, not when every theoretical line is perfect. If the output cannot help because the character’s active skills and Stats point elsewhere, fix the build accounting before spending more materials.
