An empty corner is usually a quest-state problem, not a bad location. Dead as Disco does not place every story item on the first visit. An Idol has to return to the Encore, the right conversation has to play, and an earlier request may need to be closed before the next object or Challenge reward becomes relevant.
This route covers the twelve memory triggers in the four launch-Early-Access Idol chains. The locations and dialogue flow were checked against the supplied 2:09:44 launch-build recording and a focused written location reference. The current boundary is the August 3, 2026 Midsummer Update: it adds arenas, Challenges, memorabilia, achievements, Intense mode, and balance changes, but its official notes do not publish a replacement for these twelve core story steps. If the wording or reward requirement in your current client differs, the live Encore dialogue, Stix hint, and Challenge card win.
The shortest dependable plan is not to finish one bandmate’s list in isolation. Rescue Dex, Prophet, and Hemlock; close each of their early requests; then bring Arora back and activate the cross-character cleanup. For combat, boss phases, broader memorabilia, and save recovery, use the existing Dead as Disco combat and collectibles guide. This page stays on the story-item route.
A room can be correct and still be too early
Treat each request as a four-part transaction:
- Trigger: talk to the relevant Idol in the Encore until the conversation stops changing.
- Confirm: check the current hint or request language. It should point toward a person, place, or Challenge rather than repeat the previous memory.
- Retrieve: enter the named story level or Infinite Disco Challenge and collect or earn the trigger.
- Read back: return to the Encore, speak again, and confirm that the next exchange replaces the old request.
Do not collapse those into “go to the location.” A black object beside Dex, a magazine at an arena edge, or a can near Prophet’s mural may not glow before the correct exchange. Searching longer cannot repair a missing trigger. Leaving the Encore without exhausting dialogue is the most common way to create an apparently broken item.
Use a tiny state note while playing: Idol / last returned item / current hint / target screen. It prevents a later conversation from being mistaken for an already active pickup. It also tells you which character to revisit when two requests point into the same level.
The low-backtracking order has four passes
| Pass | State to create | Items or rewards to close | Reason to stop there |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dex is back at the Encore | Pocket Reactor Core, Dex’s Notes | His third request is tied to Arora’s return, so forcing it now wastes a replay. |
| 2 | Prophet is back and his first memory is returned | D.E.D. photo, Onimaru’s Track | The later poster request can wait until the post-Arora cleanup. |
| 3 | Hemlock is back and recognizes the first reminder | Power Juice advertisement | Save Double Trouble for a stronger character and let the spray-can prompt remain available. |
| 4 | Arora is back and her bonsai memory is closed | Bonsai, Guitar Soldiers, Young Stix poster, spray cans, Business World, best-friend photo, Double Trouble | All four Idols can now advance their cross-linked conversations. |
This is a recommended dependency route, not a claim that Story Mode enforces one boss order. The four story screens are non-linear. If you already rescued them in another sequence, do not restart. Bring every available Idol’s dialogue up to date, locate the earliest unfinished memory in the table, and join the route from that state.
Pass 1: make Dex the first anchor
Clear Dex’s City Reactor story, return to the Encore, and talk to him before replaying anything. His first field object is the Pocket Reactor Core. Re-enter the opening stage and use Dex himself as the landmark: the dark, red-lit object sits on his right side and can be spotted during the opening presentation. Move to it before combat and effects hide the small glow.
If the object is absent, do not rotate the camera around the whole arena. Leave, talk to Dex again, and verify that his current exchange is asking Charlie to find something connected to the reactor. The launch recording shows the City Reactor chapter beginning at 04:43 and the return-to-Encore state after the clear; it does not justify treating the pickup as an unconditional spawn.
After the Reactor memory advances, the next target is not inside a story screen. Dex’s Notes are in the Encore. Stand near the bar and face the stage, take the short steps on the right, and follow that side path to the door marked MAKE A SCENE. Push through or around the cardboard boxes beside the door; the papers are partly hidden at floor level.
Return to Dex even though you never left the hub for the Notes. A pickup animation is not the completion check. Listen for a changed response and keep talking until the next line repeats. His later Guitar Soldiers memory should remain parked until Arora has joined the Encore.
Pass 2: Prophet opens the first Challenge gate
Rescue Prophet in Dead End Drive, then start his chain in the Encore. The first object is the D.E.D. photo. On the first story stage, move to Prophet’s right and count the parked cars along that boundary. The photo rests on the second car. Charlie may need to press into the arena edge to make contact; do not judge the spot from the normal combat camera alone.
The failure signal is clear: if the photo is not on the car, Prophet’s post-rescue conversation has not reached this request. Return to the hub instead of playing the highway and boss sections. Once the photo has been acknowledged, Prophet moves the route out of Story Mode.
Onimaru’s Track is the two-star reward from the Wish Challenge in Infinite Disco. Select Wish and read its current reward ladder before starting. The launch reference reaches the two-star state around the fourth wave, but Early Access updates can change enemy behavior, score pacing, and challenge balance. The durable requirement is the two-star reward shown by the live card, not an old wave count.
When the run ends, require two confirmations: the result screen shows at least two stars, and Prophet’s Encore conversation advances. A successful Challenge clear with only one star is not enough for this item. A two-star result followed by the same old dialogue is a reason to re-open the reward card and check whether the item was actually awarded, not a reason to grind unrelated Challenges.
Pass 3: take Hemlock’s easy wall pickup and bank the rest
Complete Hemlock’s Devo Station story and speak with him in the Encore. His first reminder is the Power Juice advertisement. Replay the opening stage, turn left as soon as control returns, and inspect the nearby wall. This is an entrance check, not a full-level search. If you have crossed into the train-track section, you passed it.
Bring the advertisement back and advance Hemlock’s dialogue. His remaining chain eventually points to spray cans in Prophet’s environment and the Double Trouble Challenge. Do not force Double Trouble immediately. It only needs one star for the story reward, but delaying it gives you more time to buy the health, lives, and skills that make a survival-oriented attempt less fragile.
Stopping here also preserves a useful combined replay later: after Arora returns, Prophet’s level can hold both Hemlock’s spray cans in its opening area and Prophet’s Young Stix poster farther in. Activate both requests first, then collect them on one continuous run if both glows are present.
Pass 4: Arora turns four separate lists into one cleanup route
Rescue Arora, exhaust her first Encore exchange, and follow the memory back into Prophet’s story. The bonsai tree is in the office section decorated with purple trees. Enter the room, use the larger plant as an anchor, and sweep the upper-left corner rather than circling the center while enemies control the camera.
Return the bonsai and talk to every bandmate, not just Arora. Her presence is the cross-chain state that makes Dex’s next memory meaningful, while the earlier Prophet and Hemlock requests should now be ready for a shared Dead End Drive pass.
Dex: Guitar Soldiers
Replay Dex’s story past the Echo Chamber and continue into the next arena that starts a boss encounter. The Guitar Soldiers issue is at the right-hand boundary as that fight loads. Sweep the edge before moving into the center and starting a long exchange. If the magazine is missing, confirm that Arora is physically present in the Encore and that Dex has delivered the conversation about their history.
Prophet and Hemlock: combine one Dead End Drive replay
Before selecting Prophet’s screen, talk to both Prophet and Hemlock. Two active requests let one run do two jobs:
- Spray cans for Hemlock: in the opening area, turn back toward the wall Prophet was painting during the intro. Find the Disco is Dead mural, then inspect the boxes on its right for the highlighted can.
- Young Stix poster for Prophet: continue to the third stage, the room that introduces the Bouncer. Turn around as the area loads and check the lower-right corner behind the wet-floor sign. Take the poster before combat pulls the camera away.
If only one object glows, collect that one and finish the active transaction. The correct response is not to assume the second landmark is wrong. Return to the Encore, close the first request, and trigger the missing character’s next line before replaying.
Arora: Business World and the best-friend photo
Arora’s last two memories live in two different Idol stories. For the Business World issue, enter Hemlock’s story and reach the second stage around the train tracks. Look along the short track wall below the spectators on the left side, close to the barrier. Clear enough pressure to inspect the wall without losing the pickup beneath effects, but do not advance past the track section.
For the photo of Arora and her best friend, replay Arora’s own story until the red-pink abyss filled with grey dolls. Move toward the far side, then follow the right boundary. Look for a low grey figure reaching outward with a single arm; the photo is fixed to the figure’s back rather than lying in the open path. That silhouette is a better landmark than a camera-relative “top” or “bottom,” because the arena view shifts during the fight.
Return after each pickup and require a new conversation. Carrying both location notes in your head is useful; carrying two unconfirmed quest assumptions is not.
Two Challenge rewards behave differently from floor pickups
Wish and Double Trouble do not ask you to touch a glowing object. They award a story trigger from a performance threshold, so your readback starts on the results screen.
| Challenge | Story owner | Required reward state | What invalidates the attempt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wish | Prophet | Two stars for Onimaru’s Track | A clear that stops at one star, or a different Challenge with a similar song/arena. |
| Double Trouble | Hemlock | One star | Starting before Hemlock asks for it, or leaving without confirming the reward and new Encore dialogue. |
For Double Trouble, aim at the first-star condition rather than playing as if a high score is required. Read the current objective list, build for survival and reliable crowd control, and spend resources that have no value after a failed run. Because the Midsummer patch changes combat balance and adds Intense mode, do not carry a fixed launch-build score, enemy-health claim, or permanent “best” skill order into the attempt.
Once the result screen grants the required star, return to Hemlock. If his stage state does not change, inspect the Challenge card and reward marker again. Repeating the run at a higher star count is only justified after the one-star reward has failed to register in the current client.
When an item does not glow, debug the state in this order
- Confirm the owner is rescued. A location guide cannot bypass the relevant Idol story clear.
- Return to the Encore and talk again. Continue until the line repeats; one exchange may only acknowledge the previous item.
- Read Stix’s current hint or the Challenge reward card. The hint should match the object you are seeking. If it describes something else, your route state is earlier or later than expected.
- Check cross-character gates. Guitar Soldiers depends on Arora’s return; the late Prophet/Hemlock cleanup is safest after all four Idols can talk in the hub.
- Re-enter from stage select. A replay that began before the dialogue advanced may not contain the newly activated object.
- Use a stable landmark. Prefer Dex’s body, a named door, numbered cars, a mural, a wet-floor sign, train spectators, purple trees, or the crouched doll over compass language.
- Verify the pickup at the Encore. Do not assume that aborting a replay, a crash, or an update preserved the object. The next conversation is the useful proof.
If all seven checks pass and the object is still absent, stop replaying the same room. Record the current build number, the exact last dialogue line, the active hint, and a screenshot of the empty landmark before reporting the issue. That evidence separates a quest-state bug from a missed corner and gives the developer something reproducible.
The full-run video is a chapter map, not a patch authority
The supplied local file matches the independently located YouTube upload Dead as Disco (EA) – Full Game Walkthrough by TheSavchynGames: both run for 7,784 seconds, and the published chapters are Intro at 00:00, Dex at 04:43, Prophet at 19:47, Hemlock at 32:28, Arora at 43:50, and Challenges at 56:32. The recording has no commentary or embedded subtitles, and the visible build is v0.1.86.
Use those chapters to recognize the story screens, hub returns, and the long Challenge cleanup after the four Idol clears. Do not use the footage to overrule an August client: Midsummer changes difficulty, abilities, challenges, memorabilia, and UI behavior. The video proves the launch-chain sequence and visual vocabulary; the live game proves today’s prompt and reward state.
Close the route with twelve readbacks
Your final check is not an empty shopping list written from memory. Count three advanced conversations for each of Dex, Prophet, Hemlock, and Arora, and make sure the associated object or Challenge reward no longer appears as an open request. The twelve triggers are:
- Dex: Pocket Reactor Core, Dex’s Notes, Guitar Soldiers issue.
- Prophet: D.E.D. photo, Onimaru’s Track, Young Stix poster.
- Hemlock: Power Juice advertisement, spray cans, Double Trouble reward.
- Arora: bonsai tree, Business World issue, best-friend photo.
That closes the verified four-Idol memory-trigger route; it does not promise the final narrative ending. Dead as Disco remains in Early Access, the official roadmap reserves the Harmony Corp endgame and true ending for 1.0, and future Idols can add new story chains. When that happens, preserve this route as the launch-band branch and extend only from new live dialogue and official patch evidence.
