Leaf it Alone Photo Locations: All 8 Mysterious Photos

Leaf it Alone Greenhouse with the scarecrow that hides the final Mysterious Photo

The eight Mysterious Photos are not numbered pickups, so the useful route is access order. Take three before the garage, three after the garage, one after the Grill gate, and the last after Pool opens the Greenhouse path. If the Journal ends at 7/8, this grouping tells you which locked stage to recheck instead of walking the whole property again.

This guide covers the original classic map on the live v1.0.16 branch as checked August 24, 2026. Steam currently describes Say Leaf! as collecting all Mysterious Photos. Update 1.1 will add new maps on October 30, 2026, so treat eight as the classic-map set rather than a promise about every future map.

Use the Journal counter as the pickup proof

The community calls these objects photos, cards, picture cards, and squirrel cards. The Steam achievement uses Mysterious Photos, so that is the name used here. The counter beside the picture icon and the Collection/Journal readback matter more than the object nickname.

At every location:

  1. Record the current count before interacting.
  2. Move close enough that the pickup prompt targets the photo rather than a wall prop.
  3. Interact once and wait for the counter to increase.
  4. If the object disappears without a count change, leave the menu open long enough for the Journal to refresh, then reload before searching elsewhere.

The locations below use player-facing landmarks, not source-specific left/right statements. Several readable guides describe the same Basement or Grill photo from opposite facing directions. Positioning the player first removes that contradiction.

Opening sweep: Shed, Porch, Court

These first three require no story unlock. Collect them while establishing the early route, before the garage door changes which side of the property you are using.

Photo 1: Shed corkboard

Enter the small shed from the front yard. As soon as you cross the doorway, turn left toward the wall display. The photo is pinned to the corkboard, in the first visible section rather than on the shop wall behind the purchasable tools.

Failure signal: if you are looking at bags, rake, or blower purchases, you turned toward the store side. Rotate back toward the entrance-side corkboard. Aim at the paper itself; the nearby wall decoration is not collectible.

Photo 2: Porch railing near the bin-facing corner

Walk onto the wooden Porch and face outward toward the yard and main trash bin. Follow the top/inside edge of the railing on the left side toward its corner. The photo rests against the wood rather than lying in the leaf carpet.

Use the bin as the orientation anchor. “Left railing” only works after you face away from the front door. From the yard looking at the house, the same object can appear on the opposite side.

Photo 3: behind the Court basket

Go to the basketball Court and walk behind the hoop, into the narrow space between the basket structure and the fence. Face the back of the board and look upward. The photo is attached behind the basket area, above the leaf-covered floor.

If you are standing at the free-throw side, the front rim hides the pickup. Circle the post until the backboard is between you and the painted Court. Raise the camera; this is the opening photo most often missed by players who search only at ground level.

At this point the counter should show three collected. A lower count means the missing object is still in an always-open area, so fix it now rather than unlocking the garage and widening the search.

Garage access unlocks a three-photo circuit

Clear Court for sprint, hold the shed button until the garage door is fully raised, then sprint-jump through. Garage, Swings, and Basement form one connected circuit; collect all three before leaving for the Shed roof.

Photo 4: garage door-side floor corner

After entering the garage, stop before crossing to the rear door. Turn toward the right-hand wall when facing inward from the big garage opening. The photo is low in the corner beside the garage-door frame, almost at floor level.

The searchable landmark is the frame and wall junction, not a tool bench or the basketball. Crouch the camera or step back if the raised door blocks the upper view. Require the fourth count before moving through the back door.

Photo 5: high electrical box on the Swings-side garage wall

Exit the garage through its rear door into Swings. Move toward the swing equipment, then turn around to face the outside garage wall. Find the high-mounted electrical/power box near the side of the building. The photo is on or tucked behind the box’s upper edge.

This object is above a normal floor scan. Stand close to the wall, point the camera upward, and shift sideways until the paper clears the box silhouette. If the wall is covered by leaves but no power box is visible, you are on the wrong face of the building.

Photo 6: basement shelf compartment by the bottle

Enter the Basement from the Swings side. Walk to the far wall, then turn around so you are looking back toward the entrance and stairs. From that fixed facing direction, inspect the shelving on your right. The photo sits inside a compartment near a large wine bottle, tucked into a corner of the shelf rather than lying on the floor.

This orientation resolves the apparent source conflict: one route calls it a left shelf while another calls it right. The room is being described from different approach directions. The durable chain is far wall, face entrance, right-hand shelving, bottle compartment.

The count should now be six. Garage, Swings, and Basement are all available once the garage entry succeeds, so a 5/8 state at this checkpoint can be repaired without unlocking any new gate.

The Grill photo is attached to the house-side doorway

Clear Basement to open the Shed route, then clear Shed to unlock the large wooden fence into the Grill area. Pass through that fence and orient toward the door in the side of the main house.

The seventh photo is low beside that house door, attached at the foundation/door-frame corner. Depending on whether a guide faces into the Grill yard or back toward the gate, it may be described as left of the entrance or right of the door. Ignore the side label: find the house door and inspect both lower frame corners from arm’s length.

Do not search the barbecue, Pool furniture, or shed gate for this pickup. Its landmark is a vertical house wall and a normal door. After interaction, the counter should read seven.

The Greenhouse scarecrow holds the last photo

Clear Pool to 100% so the hedge path opens. Follow the path through the Maze toward the Greenhouse. Approaching from this side places the scarecrow near the entrance and makes its coat visible before the dense leaf field becomes the focus.

Move directly to the scarecrow and inspect the inside lining of its jacket. The photo is tucked against the coat, not on the planter, ground, or greenhouse glass. Rotate around the figure until the open inner panel is exposed, then aim into the jacket and interact.

The object can blend with the coat’s colors and folds. If the prompt will not select it:

  • stop using the blower near the scarecrow;
  • stand on the Maze-entry side rather than behind the figure;
  • move the camera from chest height down toward the open coat edge;
  • step back once if the character model fills the entire reticle;
  • check whether the Journal already counted it and only the visual remains cached.

You do not need to clean Greenhouse 100% to pick up the photo. Pool completion is the access requirement. Greenhouse completion is a separate story reward that supplies the Secret Room key.

A 7/8 counter can be narrowed without revisiting all eight

Last remembered access state Most useful recheck Why
Before garage Shed board, Porch rail, rear of Court hoop All three are open from the start and should produce 3/8.
Garage just opened Door-side floor corner Players often run straight through to Swings and never turn around.
Swings/Basement cleared Top of power box, shelf compartment by bottle Both require vertical or inside-shelf camera placement.
Grill unlocked Lower house-door corner Left/right wording changes with approach, but the door does not.
Pool complete Inside scarecrow coat This is the only pickup gated by the Greenhouse path.

If you do not remember the counter at each gate, use visibility as the next filter. A collected object should no longer present the pickup action, while an uncollected paper remains targetable. Walk the stage group, not the entire map.

Place Say Leaf! inside a completion run

The cleanest sequence is opening trio, garage trio, Grill door, Greenhouse scarecrow. It adds seconds to a normal run because every photo lies on a story route. It should not be added to Need for Sweep: the timer route gains nothing from collectible progress, and the Court/garage detours are already execution-sensitive.

For Perfectionist, collect all eight before deleting the last leaves from convenient pile-making or basketball areas. Say Leaf! is one of the Journal objectives, while the speedrun, inletless run, and $700 challenge are separate achievement branches rather than requirements for that objective list.

The main story route covers every access gate. If your missing photo is behind an unopened area, solve the gate there and return to this fixed-location checklist. The sub-40 route deliberately leaves all eight for another save.

Classic-map completion readback

The finish state is eight counter increments and the Say Leaf! Steam achievement. A screenshot of every hiding place is not proof that the current save owns every pickup; the Journal and Steam readback are. If the counter remains 7/8 after every object appears absent, reload the save and recheck the stage groups before assuming the achievement is broken.

Leaf it Alone on Steam supplies the AppID 3981100 identity, official current media, and achievement feature. The fixed locations were cross-checked across multiple readable walkthrough and collectible references. No community screenshot, Portuguese-only duplicate route, or external save file is republished or required.
