A Dark Zone run can fail before the fighting starts if you confuse three different containers. This route is for the keyless SHD crates placed around the Dark Zone map. It is not a contaminated-crate route, and it does not assume a reset timer that the game never shows you. The useful question at every stop is simple: can you prove the landmark, the approach side, and the interaction point before exposing yourself to another patrol?
The locations below were checked against a Steam community map updated on August 24, 2026. The Division Resurgence is a live-service game, and Season 2 Phase 1 began with the Steam launch on August 5. Treat the current map labels, blocked routes, event state, and crate prompt as the final authority if a later phase moves anything.

Separate the crate route from the extraction route
SHD crates in this reference do not need a key. The community record says they can contain Dark Zone credits and materials, with high-rarity gear possible when the character is eligible for it. It also warns that a small patrol may guard some stops. None of that means every box will be full when you arrive, or that a particular item is guaranteed.
Plan each section as a scouting leg, not as a promise to clear all 26 markers in one life. Before leaving a gate or safe area:
- Open the Dark Zone map and identify the gate, extraction, landmark, or contaminated area named in the next cluster.
- Choose an exit point before collecting anything. A full inventory or a contested street is a reason to end a leg, not to add another marker.
- At the destination, clear enemies that can interrupt the opening animation. Confirm the SHD-crate prompt rather than counting a nearby contaminated container.
- After opening, check the inventory or currency readback. Do not infer a reward from the lid animation alone.
The numbered stops match the verified community map so a player can reconcile the prose with that reference. They are grouped here by practical anchors; the numbering is not a claim that the safest path is always a single clockwise lap.
Gates 12 and 11 to Extraction F: stops 1 to 9
- DZ Gate 12, front tower: find the heroic contaminated area identified on the map as the Q building. The first box is in the tower facing the gate side of that area.
- Q building, rear tower: circle the contaminated zone instead of cutting through it. A second tower behind the area contains the next box.
- Street-side tent: leave the heroic contaminated area and keep the right-hand side of the street. Check inside the tent, not the open roadway.
- Extraction H approach: face the building whose extraction point is on its roof. Move left along the street and inspect the tower; the Midtown Music Hall label should sit slightly to the left when the approach is correct.
- Christmas-tree lane: put Midtown Music Hall behind you and enter the crossing street. The box sits between two decorated trees, opposite a contaminated area.
- The Pitt shop: approach The Pitt with Midtown Music behind you, work around the contaminated area on the right, then enter the side alley. The box is inside a shop; Extraction F should be nearby rather than across the sector.
- Raised enclosure at Extraction F: use the climbable crates to gain height. Look for the fenced platform and the stairs that descend to the box.
- Boss-side shortcut: from Extraction F, use the Dark Zone boss and the large square building as anchors. The box is in the passage behind the boss space, and a Riker patrol can turn the shortcut into a fight.
- DZ Gate 11 tower: return to a simple gate anchor. Inspect the tower directly across from Gate 11 before continuing into the central streets.
If stops 4 to 8 no longer line up, stop at Extraction F and reopen the map. That cluster depends on the relative positions of the rooftop extraction, Midtown Music Hall, contaminated areas, The Pitt, and the boss space. Continuing by compass direction after losing those anchors turns a short check into a blind district sweep.
Safe House 4, DZ Door 9, and 47th Street: stops 10 to 14
- Safe House 4 street: leave with the safe house behind you and follow the street toward the left edge of the Dark Zone map. The box is exposed beneath scaffolding near the far end.
- DZ Door 9 dead-end: start with your back to Door 9, keep left while going around the block, and commit to the long dead-end alley. The box is at the closed end, not in the first short recess.
- DZ Door 9 tower: the paired stop is much easier to prove: check the tower opposite the door.
- 47th Street market plaza: locate the fountain and the Christmas-market structures near the extraction. This exposed box is easy to see and therefore more likely to have been opened by another player.
- 47th Street balcony: stand at the extraction and scan the visible balconies. Remove nearby hostiles before holding the open interaction; incoming fire can cancel it.
Stops 13 and 14 are a good decision point. If the plaza is active, take the visible box only when the exit is clear. The balcony stop adds vertical exposure and an interruptible interaction. Having one marker left is not a reason to ignore a contested extraction.
46th and 36th Street extractions: stops 15 to 20
- 46th Street ground approach: begin below the extraction, on the side reached from the parking-style lower route. With the extraction to your right and the boss area behind you, go to the street end. Climb from the JTF truck into the container and enter the fenced space; the box is hidden from street view.
- 46th Street rooftop: return to the extraction roof. On the side enemies normally cannot climb directly, search behind the small brick rooftop structure.
- Basketball court: drop to ground level and search within a short run of the 46th Street extraction. The court is near a contaminated area and may have a hostile patrol.
- 36th Street north warehouse: leave the lower-left side of the extraction, head toward the top of the map, then turn right. The correct warehouse has a blue truck on the left side of its street.
- 36th Street map edge: from the extraction, move toward the small park and continue to the boundary. Use the map edge to prove the stop rather than searching every storefront.
- South of 36th: face away from the extraction and travel toward the lower edge of the map. The box is concealed behind a Martial Law sign.
The two 46th Street boxes are often confused because one begins below the extraction and one is on its roof. Record them separately. A truck-to-container climb proves stop 15; a brick rooftop structure proves stop 16. If neither object is visible, you are on the wrong layer.
45th Street, Gates 2 and 5, and the Library: stops 21 to 26
- 45th Street boss block: find the boss area near the extraction and identify the garage with raised cars. Across from that garage is an alley marked by a tree and usually a patrol. Follow it to the end.
- Raised-car garage: cross back into the garage used as the previous landmark. The second box is inside, making these two a natural pair after the outside alley is safe.
- DZ Gate 2 block: leave Gate 2 and keep right around the block. Continue to the street end rather than cutting through the first opening.
- DZ Gate 5 tent: inspect the tent opposite Gate 5. This is another strong gate-based readback and a good place to restart after an interrupted run.
- Library south side: use the Library landmark as the center. The southern box is very close to it and can be approached through the contaminated area below; watch for a patrol and for enemies pulled from the landmark.
- Library north side: move behind the Library for the final box. The northern approach is less entangled with the contaminated zone, although a patrol can still occupy the far side.
Do not merge 25 and 26 into one vague “Library crate.” Their approach risk is different. The south stop may join combat from the contaminated area or landmark, while the north stop is a cleaner reset point. If you arrive carrying loot you care about, take the north side first and decide whether the southern approach is worth the extra exposure.
Use five readbacks when a marker appears empty
An empty-looking stop does not prove the map is wrong. Check these states in order:
- Anchor: the named gate, extraction, landmark, truck, sign, court, tower, or rooftop object is visible.
- Layer: you are on the correct street, balcony, roof, fenced enclosure, shop interior, or tower floor.
- Container type: the object is an SHD crate rather than a contaminated crate or ordinary prop.
- Interaction: the prompt appears and completes without damage interruption.
- Reward state: the currency or inventory value changes, or the container is visibly in an already-opened state.
If the anchor and layer are correct but the box is absent after a later patch, save the map position and date. Do not manufacture a replacement coordinate from an old screenshot. If the box is present but already empty, the public references do not establish an exact respawn interval; leave and retest in a later session instead of waiting in a dangerous street.
Leave the Dark Zone before the route owns you
The official game description treats the Dark Zone as PvPvE: elite enemies and rival agents compete for rewards. That makes route completion a secondary objective. Extract or reset when inventory pressure, player activity, a boss pull, or repeated opening interruptions change the risk. A clean 8-stop leg with verified loot is more useful than a 26-marker lap whose last fight erases the run.
If you want a low-risk container check before entering the Dark Zone, use the Base of Operations 14-crate loop. It solves a different problem and does not claim to reproduce Dark Zone rewards.
