Volkolak Achievement Roadmap: Class Runs and 39-Goal Audit

Volkolak skill menu showing Veteran Volkolak and Cursed class branches

Volkolak’s 39 achievements are not a single sweep of the map. Two public requirements demand Chapter 1 boss clears in a specific form, the store gives Veteran, Volkolak, and Cursed separate skill trees and adventures, several quests offer opposing actions, and four achievement conditions are hidden. Decide which path a run is protecting before the first major gift or boss choice; otherwise a late cleanup can invalidate the only state that mattered.

This roadmap uses the Windows 1.0 release and the official achievement page checked on August 27, 2026, after Patch 1.0.1. The blacksmith achievement requirement was updated from the official Patch 1.0.2 notes and Steam achievement page on September 21, 2026; the other routes were not rechecked against later patches. This guide does not invent the four hidden conditions, assume that every apparent choice is mutually exclusive, or turn unstable global unlock percentages into a difficulty ranking. The English Steam Guides index for AppID 2499040 was empty at the time of the original research, so uncertain story triggers remain checkpoints rather than false instructions.

Build the roadmap around commitments, not rarity

Keep three run ledgers even if the game later lets one save revisit part of another path. The ledger is a record of what the run actually protected; it is not a claim that three fresh saves are technically mandatory.

Ledger State to protect Public achievement proof
Veteran / Svyatozar Chapter 1 bosses are defeated without switching the boss clears to another form. Without Fear or Reproach: defeat all Chapter 1 bosses using only Svyatozar.
Volkolak The power is accepted and the Chapter 1 boss ledger stays Volkolak-only. The Gift of the Gods and Immeasurable Fury.
Chernobog / Cursed Dark-gift decisions and the Cursed skill branch are recorded without assuming their hidden ending result. Outcast and Stigma Of Darkness; any hidden result is audited separately.

Do not mix “class selected,” “boss damaged in a form,” and “boss defeated using only that form.” The official wording for the two mastery records is about defeating all bosses, so the result screen and the achievement readback matter more than how most of the arena was played.

Four conditions are public blanks; protect them from guesses

The current Steam page exposes the names Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, Father, Forgive Me, Accursed Forever, and The Wheel Turns Anew, but leaves all four descriptions blank. Their names are not enough to prove a class, NPC, ending, New Game Plus, or dialogue condition.

Use a four-field checkpoint before a major story choice:

  • Current class: Veteran, Volkolak, or Cursed as shown in the skill interface.
  • Power record: which of The Gift of the Gods, Outcast, Pagan Sigil, and Stigma Of Darkness has already unlocked.
  • Named story state: the NPC, boss, or item named by the current quest, without interpreting a hidden icon.
  • Immediate result: the achievement that appears after the decision, or “none” if no record appears.

If a hidden record remains locked, preserve the run state and continue with verified goals. Do not destroy a class-specific run because a title sounds like a particular ending.

Run A: keep the Svyatozar boss ledger pure

Without Fear or Reproach is the clearest missable-style condition on the public list: defeat every Chapter 1 boss using only Svyatozar. Treat every named boss bar as a transaction.

  1. Before the arena, confirm that the human Veteran state is active.
  2. During the fight, do not use transformation as a recovery tool just because the general game supports stance switching.
  3. After the kill, record the boss name and its individual achievement if one exists.
  4. Before leaving Chapter 1, compare the individual boss ledger with the all-boss readback.

The public list gives individual proofs for Plague Bear (Hunter), Warlock (Necromancer), Ancient Imp (Exorcist of the Devil), Swamp Man (Witcher), Dark Spirit (Destroyer of Darkness), Basilisk (Rooster’s Doom), Aspid (Serpent Slayer), Leshy confrontation (Wrath of the Grove), and Gorynych Serpent (The Smorodina River Boils). It also asks for all resurrected Chapter 1 bosses through Darkness Descends. A single missing individual proof tells you which arena to investigate; a full individual ledger with no mastery unlock points to a form violation or version issue.

This run is the wrong place to experiment with form switching on a nearly dead boss. Save the stance-dancing combat the developers advertise for a run that is not protecting the explicit Svyatozar-only condition.

Run B: separate gaining Volkolak power from the all-boss clear

The Gift of the Gods only says to gain the power of a Volkolak. Immeasurable Fury separately asks for every Chapter 1 boss to be defeated using only Volkolak. One unlock does not prove the other.

  • Record the moment the Volkolak power is granted and verify The Gift of the Gods.
  • At every Chapter 1 boss, confirm the beast state before the health bar begins to fall.
  • Do not use the old attack-assisted double jump to reach an arena; Patch 1.0.1 removed that exploit.
  • After the last boss, verify Immeasurable Fury before using the run for opposing god or story experiments.

Pagan Sigil is publicly described only as a reward from the Gods. That wording proves a reward exists, not its exact altar, offering, or timing. Track it under the god-aligned ledger and wait for an in-game quest or reward readback rather than following an invented offering formula.

Run C: isolate Chernobog and Cursed decisions

The official 1.0 materials identify Cursed as the bloodthirsty ghoul path with its own skill tree, locations, NPCs, adventure, and ending context. The public achievement page gives two visible anchors:

  • Outcast: accept the gift of Chernobog.
  • Stigma Of Darkness: receive a reward from Chernobog.

Those are separate transactions. Accepting a gift is not proof that a later reward was earned, and neither public description reveals the condition for Accursed Forever. Keep the Cursed skill-tree state, the latest Chernobog dialogue, and the two achievement readbacks together. If the reward does not appear, diagnose the named quest or decision chain; do not farm enemies or altars without an in-game signal.

Put the Chapter 1 jobs into one closing audit

Chapter 1 contains bosses, NPC jobs, upgrades, secrets, and collection sets. Close them by proof type so a story banner does not hide unfinished work.

Proof type Achievements Readback to require
Boss or hostile encounter Hunter, Necromancer, Exorcist of the Devil, Witcher, Destroyer of Darkness, Rooster’s Doom, Serpent Slayer, Wrath of the Grove, The Smorodina River Boils The named boss bar ends and the matching Steam record appears.
NPC or quest completion Plague Healer, Sacred Paths, Come Forth!, Flame and Steel, Voice of the Seer The helper NPC, summoned blacksmith, restored blade, or messenger chain visibly changes state.
Equipment Son of the Blacksmith One piece of combat equipment reaches Level 3, then the achievement unlocks.
All-boss conditions Darkness Descends, Without Fear or Reproach, Immeasurable Fury Resurrected-boss set or form-specific boss ledger is complete, then the aggregate achievement unlocks.

The Chapter 1 checkpoint guide supplies the bounded village, Plague Bear, Passage, Warlock, Ancient Imp, blacksmith, Dark Volkolak, and post-banner Swamp Man orientation. It does not replace the class ledger or claim a final-build room-by-room route.

Close six finite sets before the chapter banner becomes background noise

Six public requirements use “all” or a complete Chapter 1 scope. Put a per-region checkbox beside each; total map shading alone cannot prove any of them.

  • Their Silence is Temporary: talk to all the dead. Record each successful dialogue, not each corpse seen.
  • Memory of Ancestors: locate every altar and place of power in Chapter 1. A discovered point needs its activation or location readback.
  • Secret Paths: find all secret rooms in Chapter 1. An unopened wall or dark map edge is a lead, not a completed room.
  • For Mushrooms and Berries: collect all supplies in Chapter 1. Record the inventory entry rather than a pickup animation alone.
  • Keeper: collect every Chapter 1 amulet. Separate equipped amulets from the full discovered set.
  • Darkness Descends: slay all resurrected Chapter 1 bosses. The first versions of those bosses do not satisfy a requirement that explicitly says resurrected.

When one set remains locked, inspect the right evidence. A missing room sends you to map boundaries; a missing conversation sends you to named dead NPCs; a missing item sends you to the inventory collection; a missing resurrected boss sends you to the replay state. Mixing those searches wastes the run.

Track Leshy and Firebird as decision clusters

The public list places opposing verbs around two mythical creatures. It does not say whether every pair is mutually exclusive, reversible, class-bound, or available in one run, so preserve the choice state and wait for the exact unlock.

Creature Public records Safe plan
Leshy Sacred Paths asks you to help cleanse the forest; Wrath of the Grove asks you to fight the Leshy; Guardian of the Forest asks you to help plant trees. Keep the active Leshy quest text and each outcome readback. Do not treat “fight,” “cleanse,” and “plant” as synonyms.
Firebird Wings of Flame asks you to slay the Firebird; Tamed Flame asks you to tame it. Assume the verbs represent different states until the game proves otherwise. Do not kill first merely because that route is faster.

Sweet Poison, which asks for an Apple of Youth, belongs beside these mythic quest ledgers rather than the Chapter 1 supply set. The public requirement does not label the apple as a generic supply or give its location.

The final-act ledger is short but state-heavy

The later public requirements identify a clear narrative chain without exposing its route:

  1. Wings of Flame or Tamed Flame: resolve and record the Firebird state.
  2. The Point of Fate: find Koschei the Deathless’s Needle.
  3. Lord of Darkness: defeat Koschei the Deathless.
  4. Echoes of Bygone Days: collect all of the scholar’s manuscripts.
  5. The Seer’s Request: help the messenger from another world again, which implies an earlier Voice of the Seer proof.
  6. Sweet Poison: find an Apple of Youth.
  7. Guardian of the Forest: help the Leshy plant trees.

The order above is an audit order, not a claimed room sequence. For example, The Point of Fate establishes possession of the Needle, but the public description does not state every prerequisite for reaching Koschei. Likewise, “again” makes the Seer’s two records a dependency to watch, not proof of where the second meeting occurs.

Check the blacksmith quest and achievement against separate patches

Patch 1.0.1 repaired blacksmith resource tracking and removed the gear-upgrade lock. Summoning the blacksmith earns Come Forth!. Patch 1.0.2 fixed the unlock logic for Son of the Blacksmith: upgrade combat equipment to Level 3.

On 1.0.2 or later, check the chain in four stages: the quest counter changes after a legitimate resource pickup; the blacksmith becomes available; the upgrade interface accepts the item; and combat equipment reaches Level 3 with the Steam achievement unlocked. An earlier upgrade shows progress, but is not the achievement condition. Patch 1.0.1 also removed a repeated Dead Wastes loot exploit, so duplicate drops are not a trustworthy workaround or a required achievement strategy.

Audit one locked icon without replaying the wrong run

Place the missing achievement into one evidence bucket:

  • Individual boss: exact boss bar, kill state, and named achievement.
  • Aggregate boss: every member of the resurrected or form-specific ledger, plus the form used at the kill.
  • NPC transaction: request accepted, named action completed, return dialogue, and reward state.
  • Finite set: region-by-region room, altar, dead, supply, amulet, or manuscript checklist.
  • Power or class: current skill branch and the relevant Gods or Chernobog readback.
  • Creature choice: help, fight, slay, tame, cleanse, or plant recorded as its literal outcome.
  • Hidden condition: no public requirement; preserve state and refuse to infer from the title.

Steam’s global percentage is not diagnostic. The release was only three days old at this check, and a low rate can reflect story depth, class commitment, or player population rather than a broken achievement. Use the requirement and the state that should have changed.

Evidence cutoff for this 39-goal roadmap

According to the official Volkolak Steam listing, the final Windows release arrived on August 24, 2026. The same listing identifies Volk Team and Progamefactoryllc, three class skill trees, class-specific locations and adventures, multiple endings, and 39 achievements. The official Steam achievement page supplies the 39 names and current public descriptions. Steam announcements document Patch 1.0.1’s quest fixes and Patch 1.0.2’s Level 3 blacksmith achievement fix. The supplied 2025 Early Access video is not used to invent release-build achievement triggers. Hidden conditions, mandatory save counts, carryover rules, exact ending recipes, fixed drop locations, and future patch behavior are not claimed.
