Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Puzzle Solutions: Trial Codes and Light Routes

Sophia using the Sphere to reveal symbols in a Resonance temple puzzle

Most Resonance puzzle stalls come from changing the correct object in the wrong state. A reflector can be aimed perfectly while its source is still dark; a symbol can be correct but entered at the pedestal for another route; a Light Splitting pattern can miss because Sophia is not standing on the marked casting point. Freeze the room, identify the active Sphere mode, and read the solved-state feedback before changing a second mechanism.

The solutions below cover the major progression puzzles from the launch version checked on August 28, 2026. Directions are given from stable room anchors rather than camera-relative screenshots wherever possible. If a later patch changes a code or target, trust Sophia’s notebook and the visible reveal path in the current client.

Sophia using the Sphere to reveal symbols in a Resonance temple puzzle

Identify which light tool the room is testing

Tool What it reads Typical failure signal
Mirror or fixed light A direct white beam The target never fills or fades
Light Reveal Hidden blue tracks, marks, and safe paths No marks appear because Sophia is off the clue position
Light Splitting Red, green, and blue receivers at once Two colors lock while the third slides off its gem
Light Concentrate Petrified growth and the creature’s vulnerable light response The beam is visible but has no powered light source

Use a four-step discipline in any lens room:

  1. Locate the source and turn it on.
  2. Clear any growth covering a receiver, reflector, crank, or route.
  3. Trace one complete beam from source to destination.
  4. Wait for the target’s permanent glow, fresco, latch, platform, or door animation before repurposing the reflector.

Some rooms allow a restart from the pause menu. Use it when several reflectors have been moved without a written route. A clean starting arrangement is faster to diagnose than an unknown chain with one backward dish.

Chapter 2: hold both carnival signals until they answer

On the church roof, Sophia must reflect light to two distant white signals. Use the bell tower as the rear anchor.

  1. Stand near the cross at the front edge of the roof with the bell tower behind Sophia.
  2. Aim just right of the cross to find the first white point.
  3. Keep the reflected beam on it until the point fades.
  4. With the bell tower still behind you, pan right toward the docks and slightly downward.
  5. Hold the second point until it also disappears.

A momentary sweep across the light is not enough. The fade is the individual readback; the objective update after both fades is the pair readback. If one point seems absent, re-center the tower behind Sophia before changing elevation.

Chapter 3: turn the watchtower sight into the notebook’s X

The Watchtower puzzle begins in the ruined settlement after the marked trail seems to end.

  1. Find the two-column arch ruins and face away from them.
  2. Look left for the remains of a house whose doorway resembles the drawing in Sophia’s book.
  3. Look through that doorway and interact with the framed view. This registers the watchtower.
  4. Climb the tower and stand so its circular sight is directly in front of Sophia.
  5. Rotate the camera until the bar through the circle crosses the fallen red mast on the ground, producing the full X.
  6. Return to Leni at the revealed patch and uncover the trapdoor.

If the alignment dialogue plays but Leni does not approach the mast, climb down and trigger the ground interaction. Reloading the checkpoint is a reasonable recovery if the companion state remains frozen; changing the X after it has already registered is not.

Chapter 3: open all three platform latches without losing progress

Stand on the central platform with the Sphere pedestal ahead. Each charged latch stays open, allowing its reflector to be reused.

  1. Front latch: turn away from the pedestal, use the large lens on the forward platform, and aim directly at the circular latch on the opposite wall.
  2. Left latch: rotate that same source lens left until it hits the second reflector. Move to the second reflector and aim it into the left wall circle.
  3. Final latch: locate the broken lens on the platform to the right of the first revealed fresco. Ask Leni to hold it upright, then feed it from the reflector used for the left latch.

Three illuminated frescoes confirm the three transactions. Only then use the pedestal on the center platform. If the platform does not descend, walk the walls and count lit frescoes; do not infer success from the number of beams currently crossing the room.

Chapter 4: enter the First Trial code from its own paths

Placing the Sphere in the entrance pedestal unlocks Light Reveal. Each of the three code pedestals owns a blue trail leading to one wall mark. Trace them individually or use the verified left-to-right result:

Y-shaped symbol – C-shaped symbol – upward-arrow symbol.

The order belongs to the physical pedestals from left to right, not the order in which the marks happen to be found. If the door stays closed, reopen each dial and verify that the mark has not been entered one station over.

Chapter 4: route the hanging-wall beam from the pressure plate

The light source in the next chamber is inactive until the pressure plate above the entrance is held.

  1. Climb the stairs over the door you used to enter.
  2. Step on the plate, then move away when Leni offers to remain there.
  3. Take the nearest lens on the lower-left side and send it across to the nearest right-side lens.
  4. Rotate the right-side lens toward the upper lens beside the sealed door.
  5. Follow the live beam to that upper lens and point it at the gold disk over the exit.

Use the live beam, not lens orientation, as the checksum. Hanging panels obscure some sight lines, so a reflector can appear to face the door while its light is hitting stone. Before leaving, face the closed exit and climb onto the side ledge on Sophia’s left if you also want the Resonance Point.

Chapter 4: read the two floor-maze symbols before the ambush

The following code room places two pedestals beside a maze pattern. Light Reveal draws a separate route from each pedestal across that floor. The left route ends at the round O-like mark; the right route ends at the cross-like mark. Enter each at the pedestal that generated it.

The door opening triggers soldiers. Treat the fight as part of the puzzle boundary: both code inputs can be correct while the route remains unusable because the encounter has not cleared.

Chapter 4: cross the small spike sets by position

At the spike corridor, first use Light Reveal on the side walls so Sophia records four safe symbols. The route then has three checks.

  1. First floor: take the tiles along the far-left wall straight across.
  2. Second floor: begin at the far right, move forward two tiles, left one tile, then forward one tile into safety.
  3. Spike wall: reveal the scales-like mark and place the Sphere only in that socket. From the approach, it is the third opening on the left nearest the trap.

Do not sprint the second set. A direction is one tile unless a count is given, and diagonal movement can land Sophia on the wrong mark even when the destination looks safe.

Chapter 4: preserve the hidden line through the large spike floor

Boost Leni to the lens on the left side, then move beneath the entrance without stepping on the panel grid. Activate Light Reveal at the fourth panel from the left. A blue path crosses the room but disappears behind four wall blocks.

  1. Follow the visible line to the first wall.
  2. Advance one panel, then move right four panels. The line becomes visible again.
  3. At the second obstruction, continue straight three panels and left one.
  4. At the third, advance two panels and move left two.
  5. Follow the restored path. At the last wall, continue straight to the exit.

Before each blind segment, place the camera above the grid and identify Sophia’s current square. These instructions are relative to the direction of travel from the entrance; rotating the camera does not rotate the route.

Chapter 4: lower both arena hands, then reveal the last pair

Run around the arena until Sophia writes all floor pairs in the notebook. Each floor mark corresponds to a wall receiver. Use the available reflectors to charge both members of one pair at the same time.

  1. Pair the bell-like symbol with the T-shaped symbol.
  2. Pair the M-shaped symbol with the triangle. The M panel is to the right of the wall panel used for the bell, between the sideways-W mark and the glass-like mark.
  3. After both statue hands reach the platform, use Light Reveal on their rings.
  4. The final pairing is the W-shaped symbol with the H-shaped symbol, both on the wall to the statue’s right.

The first two pairs change the statue; the last pair unlocks the combat phase. If one hand has not moved, revisit the corresponding pair instead of rebuilding every reflector chain.

Chapter 5: align the entrance gems from the casting mark

The Second Trial grants Light Splitting. Stand on the marked point facing the entrance door and rotate the Sphere until the red, green, and blue rays each touch their matching gem. Do not walk closer to correct a miss; leaving the casting mark changes the geometry. Make fine rotational adjustments until all three receivers remain active together.

Chapter 5: charge the color-reflector column one color at a time

In the watery chamber, the goal is not to blend colors. Each source must reach the same-color receiver on the central column.

  • Green: point the source to the reflector directly opposite, then turn that reflector into the green point on the column.
  • Red: send the source to the low reflector on the far-right platform near the green route, then aim it at the red point.
  • Blue: aim the source past the boulder to the mirror on the elevated platform at the chamber’s left. Continue into the low mirror on that side, bounce upward and right once, then finish at the column’s blue point.

Use any available beam to burn growth off the reflectors before locking the routes. Green and red are short chains; leaving either aimed through extra dishes adds an unnecessary failure point. The central pillar reveals the insect-like trial symbol after all three colors hold.

Chapter 5: solve four Light Splitting stations around the chamber

Clear the growth from the center structure, take one crank, and let Leni continue operating it. She raises the moving platform that begins the circuit.

  1. At the first casting point, place green on the upper green receiver, then rotate red and blue onto their side receivers.
  2. Cross the moving platforms. At the next point, begin with blue on the receiver closest to the center rim and rotate the other two colors into place.
  3. Use Light Reveal to trace the safe blue route through the spiked panels.
  4. At the last splitter, start with red on the upper receiver, then settle green and blue.

The room validates each station by changing the platform route. If the next platform never rises, remain on the current flower-marked point and inspect the ray that flickers; moving ahead before the state change only strands Sophia farther from the faulty input.

Chapter 5: leave the symbol grid midway through the sequence

Sophia’s notebook records a repeating instruction: Points, Squid, Points, Flower, Squid. The floor route is longer because the intended path climbs out of the grid and returns.

  1. Facing the platforms, jump to the second tile from the left, marked Points.
  2. Move right to Squid.
  3. Move forward to Points.
  4. Move left to Flower.
  5. Move forward to Squid, then forward to Points.
  6. Move left to Squid and climb the adjacent wall.
  7. Follow the narrow upper ledge. Drop back onto the Points tile below.
  8. Cross to Flower, then Squid, then forward to Points and the exit.

The upper ledge is the puzzle’s deliberate break in pattern. Searching for a fully connected floor route after the second Squid produces a dead end even if every earlier tile was correct.

Chapter 7: translate the Black Temple numbers into button order

Stand on the circle before the outer Black Temple doors and use Light Reveal. The four columns display the values 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 from left to right. Those values label order; they are not the order in which to walk across the facade.

Press the column carrying 1 first, then 2, then 3, then 4. With the columns still numbered by physical position from left to right, the button route is:

Numbering the physical buttons from left to right, the input is 4 → 3 → 1 → 2.

If the door resets, the most common mistake is pressing physical columns 3, 4, 2, 1 rather than sorting the revealed numbers.

Chapter 7: make the interior door open downward

The inner Black Temple room has a discovery phase and a color phase.

  1. Stand in the lit circle beside the central hole, use Light Reveal, and turn to the wall behind Sophia. Press the marked skull.
  2. Follow the shifted light, defeat the soldiers, reveal the second wall mark, and press that skull.
  3. Return to the main pedestal and use its skull control to place the central reflector in the middle position on the hole’s rim.
  4. Stand on the casting circle and use Light Splitting. Aim green into the center reflector, blue into the right reflector, and red into the upper-left reflector.

The solved room exposes platforms descending into the central hole. The large vertical door does not swing outward, so looking only at the doorway can make a successful solution appear to have failed.

Chapter 10: derive the mountain rings from weapon pairs

Before operating the three ring pedestals, use Light Reveal on all six stelae. Three are already lit. Turn on the lamp in the waterfall cave, bounce it through the exterior lenses to reach two more, then let Faro illuminate the last from the central platform.

The warrior drawings in the notebook pair weapons with the stela marks. The resulting ring settings are:

Pedestal Ring Symbol Color receiver after alignment
Left Inner Snake / serpent Green
Middle Middle Upward arrow Red
Right Outer H-like linked mark Blue

Set each ring first. Then return to the marked position before the door and rotate Light Splitting so the three colors hit the now-aligned gems. Trying to solve color and ring position simultaneously makes it difficult to tell whether the miss belongs to the pedestal state or the Sphere angle.

When the correct solution does not register

  • No blue clue appears: look for the circle, pedestal, or light pool that defines the reveal position. Light Reveal is not a room-wide scanner.
  • A receiver is bright but incomplete: keep the beam centered until its permanent animation finishes. A grazing beam can illuminate an object without charging it.
  • A companion never takes over: Sophia normally has to start the crank, step on the plate, attempt the boost, or lift the broken device first.
  • One RGB ray continually misses: confirm that the correct floor mark is active and that the target reflector or door ring has not been left in an intermediate position.
  • A spike path differs from the camera: reset orientation to the entrance-to-exit direction. The route is tied to the floor, not the screen.
  • A solved door remains inaccessible: finish the triggered fight and inspect vertical routes. The Black Temple interior opens into the floor, and several trial solutions summon enemies before releasing the passage.

For the story context around each room, the 14-chapter Resonance walkthrough places every solution between its approach, combat boundary, and completion scene. This puzzle guide remains self-contained for the inputs themselves.

The official Resonance page describes the mechanical Sphere as a light-manipulation tool and confirms that puzzle logic changes as Sophia reaches deeper trials. The solutions here reflect the August 27, 2026 launch client; no permanent claim is made about post-launch checkpoints or code behavior.
