Asgard’s Fall Forged Abilities Guide: All 8 Combos

To make a Forged Ability in Asgard’s Fall, take both abilities in its recipe and raise each one to level 5 during the same run. The matching forged card can then appear, and you may choose only one Forged Ability before that run ends.

Version 1.0 launched on September 9, 2026 and added Compendium pages for every ability. Use the in-game Forged Abilities tab as the final check if a later patch changes a name or pairing; several popular recipe lists were written during Early Access.

All eight Forged Ability recipes

Forged Ability Raise both of these to level 5 What the forged version does
Burning Chaos Blades Giant’s Tooth + Whirl Slash Burning blades swing around you while applying Ignite and Bleed.
Electrified Axes Ember Axe + Loki’s Electric Mirage Flaming axes explode and leave electric afterimages on impact.
Frostfang Ring Shattering Ground + Glacial Sunder A frost wall erupts around you and travels outward.
Helstorm Surtur’s Inferno + Flurry of Knives Flaming tornadoes fire piercing icicles as they move.
Odin’s Ice Arrows Gungnir + Skadi’s Ice Arrow Icy arrows freeze targets, then explode and apply Shock.
Shattering Leviathan Axe Leviathan Axe Throw + Dagger Throw The returning axe throws additional fragments in other directions.
Stormpiercer Ballista + Yggdrasil’s Pulse A summoned weapon periodically fires electric pulses at nearby enemies.
Thunderclaw Fenrir’s Claws + Thor’s Wrath Fenrir becomes charged with lightning and slashes random targets.

Older guides sometimes spell Helstorm as “Hellstorm,” and they do not agree on whether Skadi’s ability is singular or plural. Match the icons as well as the names, then follow the spelling shown by the current Compendium.

Let the first useful ability choose the recipe

Going into a run with one exact fusion in mind can waste levels if neither half appears. Wait until the first useful component lands before committing. If you take Leviathan Axe Throw early and Dagger Throw appears soon after, Shattering Leviathan Axe becomes a realistic target. If the dagger never shows, keep the axe in your normal build and move on.

Once you have both halves, upgrades for those two abilities matter more than opening unrelated options. Each must reach level 5. Spreading early levels across every attractive attack makes the recipe slower and can leave both components unfinished when the run becomes dangerous.

The pair should also make sense with what is already keeping you alive. Giant’s Tooth and Whirl Slash both reward playing close to enemies, so Burning Chaos Blades fits a run that can survive at that range. Ballista and Yggdrasil’s Pulse lead to a summon that fires at nearby targets; Stormpiercer is a cleaner choice when your existing bonuses already help those tags. You do not need to force the recipe with the highest position in an old tier list.

Use the Forge of the Aesir to improve your odds

Before battle, the Forge of the Aesir lets you infuse your starting weapon with Physical, Fire, Cold, or Lightning damage. That infusion converts the weapon’s damage, adds a bonus to the chosen type, and makes every new-ability offer include at least one ability from that specialization.

This helps with one side of a recipe, but it does not guarantee the complete pair. Every Forged Ability above combines two different damage types. A Cold infusion can make Leviathan Axe Throw, Skadi’s Ice Arrow, Glacial Sunder, or Flurry of Knives easier to find, while the Physical, Lightning, or Fire partner still depends on the other choices you roll.

Use that guarantee to keep several possible recipes open:

  • Physical can lead toward Shattering Leviathan Axe, Burning Chaos Blades, Stormpiercer, Frostfang Ring, or Thunderclaw.
  • Fire can lead toward Electrified Axes, Burning Chaos Blades, or Helstorm.
  • Cold can lead toward Shattering Leviathan Axe, Odin’s Ice Arrows, Frostfang Ring, or Helstorm.
  • Lightning can lead toward Electrified Axes, Odin’s Ice Arrows, Stormpiercer, or Thunderclaw.

After the first component appears, look for its specific partner. Until then, take abilities that work with the infusion and keep the run healthy. The Forge reduces bad offers; it does not remove the roguelite part of the build.

Finish both level-5 upgrades without wrecking the run

When the two components are in your build, compare their levels before picking the next upgrade. A level-4 ability is close to completion; a level-1 partner still needs several upgrades. That gap tells you whether the fusion is close enough to chase or whether survival should come first.

Take the missing half when it first appears. You can improve an ability after owning it, but you cannot finish a recipe whose second component never entered the build. Once both halves are secured, favor their upgrade cards whenever the immediate alternative is only a small bonus to an unrelated attack.

That priority has a limit. If a boss or crowded wave is already breaking through, take the health, movement, or damage help that keeps the run going. There is no value in planning a fusion you will die before completing. Secure both names, keep enough defense to continue leveling, finish whichever component is closer, and then level the other one.

Treat the result as its own ability

Once the forged card appears, read its new description and tags before choosing later upgrades. Do not assume that every bonus attached to a component still applies. Electrified Axes, for example, shows Fire, Lightning, Explosive, and Ranged on its forged card. Those tags are the useful guide for later Knots of Fate and Warpaint choices.

This matters even more in the full-release build. The July 2026 update reworked Bleed, Ignite, Chill, and Shock and updated existing Knots of Fate around the new status rules. Version 1.0 then changed Warpaint shapes and the Warpaint grid. Advice that calls one old stat or one old board layout mandatory predates those changes.

Open the tooltip after forging and support what the finished ability actually does. Burning Chaos Blades can apply two statuses at close range. Odin’s Ice Arrows combines control with explosions and Shock. Frostfang Ring starts around the player, while Thunderclaw selects targets away from you. Their value changes with your character, current Fates, realm, and the bonuses already active in that run.

If the forged card does not appear

  • Check both levels. Owning the two abilities is not enough; each component must be level 5.
  • Check the exact partner. Gungnir pairs with Skadi’s Ice Arrow, while Thor’s Wrath pairs with Fenrir’s Claws. Similar elements are not interchangeable.
  • Remember the one-per-run limit. After choosing one Forged Ability, a second recipe will not produce another choice during that run.
  • Open the Compendium. If the current client shows a different name, icon, or recipe from a 2025 guide, follow the client.
  • Start fresh after a major update. Version 1.0 included a full progression wipe, so an Early Access unlock or old save cannot prove that a recipe is available in the current profile.

A reliable attempt stays flexible: choose an infusion, take a useful component, secure its partner when it appears, and bring both to level 5 without starving the rest of the build. The recipe table tells you what can fuse, but your early offers and survival needs decide which one is worth finishing.

Where to check after a patch

Start with the Forged Abilities tab in your Compendium because it reflects the client you are actually playing. For release notes and the current PC version, use the Asgard’s Fall — Viking Survivors Steam page.
