Welcome to Chapter 8 of Machinika: Atlas! Following the events of Machinika: Museum, you play as a researcher whose escape pod arrives at an abandoned spaceship on Atlas, a moon of Saturn. In Chapter 7, you accessed the security room and reactivated the ship’s shields, securing the ship from attack. Now, in Chapter 8, your goal is to return to the bridge and prepare the ship for departure.
Chapter 8a – Getting to the Bridge
1. Exit the Security Room
- Leave the security room and head through the door on the right to enter a new passage.
2. Move Towards the Pod
- A pod arrives in the passage. Move toward it, and you’ll be taken across the ship and returned to the first room from Chapter 1.
3. Access the Central Console
- Approach the central console and tap the green button in the center. A platform will lift you up to the dome above.
Chapter 8 – Departure Walkthrough
4. Examine the Center Console
- On the console, you’ll see two green sections. Tap the top-right section to reveal a wall panel.
5. Locate the Letter
- Look on the left side of the opened panel to find the letter.
6. Adjust the Circles
- Inside the panel, adjust the top and bottom circles by sliding the bar to the right and turning the circles until they align vertically. This will open the doors.
7. Solve the Hexagon Puzzle
- Inside, you’ll see a board of hexagonal shapes, some blue and some black. There are three gold hexagon pieces on the lower right, and arrow buttons at the ends of black hexagon lines. Move the gold pieces along the lines to place them on the marked tiles. Completing this puzzle reveals a helm wheel.
8. Open the Second Wall Section
- Return to the center screen and press the lower-left green button. This will open a wall section behind you.
9. Adjust the Dials
- Turn each of the three large dials until they glow blue. Once done, the wall opens to reveal a magnetic disk, a helmet, and a strange box.
Solving the Strange Box Puzzle
10. Open the Strange Box
- In your inventory, examine the box. It has yellow lines around it. Rotate the box to align any incomplete lines. Once the line is complete, a layer of the box will open. Repeat this process for all layers to reveal a glass sphere.
11. Collect the Disk
- Turn back to the helm and look right to find a disk. Collect it.
12. Align the Disk Hands
- In your inventory, observe the disk, which has a clock-like hand and 10 markings. Move the hands to match the three marks on the back of the disk. Place the disk back into its slot, then wear the helmet. The dome opens, allowing you to step outside.
Solving the Round Puzzle
13. Start the Round Puzzle
- Inside the ship’s opened section, place the magnetic disk in the center. You’ll see two disks with magnets and button sliders around the outer circle. Use the magnets to push the sliders into the correct positions, turning them white.
14. Complete the Round Puzzle
- When the puzzle is complete, a hatch opens. Inside, you’ll find another device with a sphere puzzle.
Solving the Sphere Puzzle
15. Insert the Glass Sphere
- Place the glass sphere into the bottom section of the device. Inside, you’ll see blue/orange circles and points of white light.
16. Align the White Lights
- Use the dials to rotate the sphere, aligning the white lights with the circles. When correctly positioned, the white lines within the model will align, activating the top screen of the device.
Final Star Navigation Puzzle
17. Find the Stars
- Drag the view around until you locate five distant bright stars. Use the handles on the screen to move the orange circles and align them with the stars. Adjust the handles to zoom and rotate until all circles are aligned with the stars.
18. Complete the Star Alignment
- Back in the ship, broken rings appear, aligning with the marked stars. Move to the helm wheel control to focus on one ring and use the handles to connect the broken pieces.
19. Complete All Rings
- After connecting each ring, move to the next until all rings are completed, opening a passage for the ship to travel home.
Congratulations! This completes Chapter 8 and the game. Safe travels!
