Void Stranger Progression Route: From VOID to the DIS Gate

Major spoilers: the route to DIS is a sequence of save states, not one uninterrupted descent. Finish Gray’s first VOID ending, return to B225 as unvoided Gray, complete Lillie, close Cif’s route through the B193 hideout, then prepare a Gray or Lillie run for B223, B000, B023, and the empty-board fall at B227.

This route starts after you are willing to spoil Gray’s first ending and stops when the fall from B227 enters DIS. It does not solve every Sokoban floor, list every crystal, or cover EX material. It was rechecked on August 8, 2026 against the Windows release and the developer’s current v1.1.3 download. The version matters because the official v1.1.2 notes changed the counting and reset behavior of secret knocks; old fixed-count Tail recipes are not treated as current instructions here.

Locate yourself by the last state the game proved

Last state you can verify What it means Where this route resumes
Gray ended a descent while marked VOID The orientation ending is complete Use the four-eyed reset staircase and make an unvoided Gray return
B225’s mural was blank Gray reached the correct unvoided branch Finish the transition into Lillie’s floors
You are controlling Lillie The harder character route is active Reach her ending; VOID does not block it
Cif is playable with all three burdens The final linear character route is active Take the hidden B193 branch instead of its stairs
Cif’s credits returned to brand entry The secret-area preparation can begin Start Gray or Lillie with all three burdens

Do not force a later instruction when the character or VOID label does not match its row. Void Stranger autosaves between rooms, so crossing another staircase can preserve the wrong branch more efficiently than it fixes it.

Gray must show you both meanings of B225

On Gray’s first descent, continue after running out of locusts rather than restarting to protect a deathless attempt. Accept the fruit if it is the available continuation and let the VOID branch finish. After that ending, take the staircase beneath the four-eyed statue. The useful confirmation is not merely seeing B001 again: Gray should be back at B001 without the VOID label and with 00 on the locust display.

That reset prepares the second Gray descent. Collect the three burden tools while returning:

  • Void Memory allows conversations with rocks.
  • Void Wings cross a one-tile gap, but Gray cannot push while hovering.
  • Void Sword defeats most enemies in one strike and later participates in the lord conditions.

Use any shortcuts you have actually discovered, but judge the run at B225. A blank mural means the unvoided branch is active and the following rooms continue as ordinary puzzles. If the mural shows your brand or the route folds back toward Gray’s VOID ending, continuing farther will not repair the state. Remove VOID or reset, then repeat this descent.

VOID is not a universal failure label. It blocks Gray’s required B225 branch, but it does not cancel Lillie’s route ending.

Lillie can be VOID; Cif must leave through the hole

The unvoided Gray branch eventually moves the route into Lillie’s harder floor set. Do not import Gray’s B225 rule into this character: Lillie’s ending is the same whether she is VOID or unvoided. VOID does suppress gem tiles and one later NPC, so an unvoided run preserves more optional discovery, but becoming VOID is not a reason to discard a Lillie run that can still reach its ending.

The black reset statue does not select another character. It returns the current character to the beginning. Finish or exit Lillie’s route, then use the proper brand-entry state when you need to change characters.

Cif begins with Void Memory, Wings, and Sword and uses Gray’s normal puzzle set. The visible stairs are the trap at the end of this route:

  1. Follow Cif’s conversations during the descent; the B030 scene frames the search for Mon.
  2. After the later reset, return to B193.
  3. Follow the footsteps through the false rocks on the right and fall into the opening.
  4. Inside the hideout, use the correct hole for Cif’s ending. The stairs only return to B196.

Cif’s ending and credits return the game to brand entry. That closes the linear character relay. If the stairs looped you to B196, revisit the hideout and take the hole; another ordinary descent is not the missing action.

Give B223, the interface room, and B023 different jobs

The final run can use Gray or Lillie, but it needs Void Memory, Wings, and Sword. It also needs Tail and Gor resolved, access to B223, a separate room whose interface can be walked on, and—if you choose Gray—an unvoided state past B224.

The late route becomes manageable once each unusual room has one job. A blocked object identifies the missing state or the wrong room.
Room Its job in this route What not to do there
B223 Reach the hidden floor and obtain Cif’s brand-room clue; its chest can provide 99 locusts Do not confuse it with the later engraving room
B036 or B056 Provide accessible space for walking onto the interface; B056’s birch-tree room is the easier option Do not arrive with an infinity-locust display when the transfer needs 00
B023 Engrave Cif’s brand after obtaining the upgraded rod Do not try to walk directly onto its blocked interface

B223 can be reached by interface manipulation or a precise locust warp. B023, by contrast, is surrounded by walls. An older discussion initially named B023 as the interface-access room and then corrected that room-number mistake. If its walls stop you from reaching the display, nothing is broken: move to B036, B056, or another interface-access room you have personally verified, and save B023 for the engraving transfer.

B000 checks Tail and Gor before it gives you the rod

Resolve Gor through the Sword-dependent interaction at B143. Tail’s route combines the secret-knock interaction at B030 with the burden tools required to reach and strike the exposed tail. This is where old walkthrough text becomes unsafe: version 1.1.2 changed the secret-knock counter and reset logic, and the official notes do not publish a replacement number.

If a legacy count produces no response on v1.1.3, stop the interaction and allow its counter to reset before trying the current behavior again. Do not keep stacking knocks or assume that the save is corrupt, and do not substitute an undocumented number.

Once Tail and Gor are resolved, reach a walk-on interface room with zero locusts and warp to B000. The large statue in front of the chest should dissolve. The chest then gives the upgraded Void Rod, which can hold an unlimited number of tiles and returns them in last-in, first-out order.

A statue that still blocks the chest means one of those two lord conditions is unresolved. Revisit Gor’s Sword interaction and Tail’s current-version interaction separately. Mon is not an additional B000 kill condition in the evidence used for this route.

Move through B023, then make B227 completely empty

With the upgraded rod in hand and Cif’s brand recorded, the last transfer is short but state-sensitive:

  1. Return to B023 and engrave Cif’s brand.
  2. Follow the resulting brand-room route and take the 99 locusts to arrive near B224.
  3. Continue to B227. Gray must still be unvoided here; otherwise the route diverts into her familiar VOID ending after B224.
  4. Resolve the enemy interactions in B227, then use the upgraded rod to remove every tile that remains.
  5. Inspect the entire board. Only fall when no floor, glass, trap, or object tile remains.

The empty-board fall is the completion check: it enters DIS. If Gray returns to the VOID ending, remove VOID and repeat the final transfer. If the fall does not open the route, scan B227 for the one remaining tile; “almost empty” is not the blank brand that the gate requires.

This guide’s task ends when that fall enters DIS. It deliberately leaves the puzzles beyond the entrance outside the promise. The verified game page is Void Stranger on Steam.
