Mortal Shell 2 Trophies: A First-Run Checklist for 53 Unlocks

The Mortal Shell II trophy list is visible before the worldwide August 20, 2026 release, but a list is not the same thing as a solved Platinum route. It exposes 53 PS5 trophies—one Platinum plus 52 conditions that correspond to the non-Platinum achievement set—while leaving locations, cleanup access, counter behavior, and several unusual triggers unverified in the shipping client.

The useful launch-day approach is to protect irreversible-looking moments, maintain separate collection counters, and let the client prove what is missable. This checklist does that without assigning an invented completion time, difficulty rating, New Game Plus requirement, or number of playthroughs. It has an August 17 evidence cutoff, the first day on which Devout Edition access may become available depending on storefront timing.

Start with the three rows most likely to cost a clean save

Most exposed conditions describe collection or story progress. Three describe a narrow event whose state may disappear after a scene, choice, or boss kill. Mark them before starting, even if you plan a blind run.

No, You Still Can’t Win

The launch description says to take the Tar Golem to its minimum health. The Open Beta used a related but differently named condition that required reducing the Golem to zero before a scripted defeat advanced the story. Do not assume that the full trigger is identical. At the prologue warning before the arena, inspect the launch description, preserve a pre-fight save if the menu supports it, and watch for the unlock before allowing the transition to finish.

If the health bar disappears without a popup, record the remaining health and whether an autosave symbol appears. A failed attempt may be a combat problem, a build change, or a state the story has already committed. Those are different diagnoses; repeating attacks after the save point does not solve the last one.

Feed Me

“Cause Egon to pass away” describes an outcome, not a routine collectible. The source list does not reveal where Egon appears, what dialogue or quest controls the result, or whether another outcome blocks it. When Egon enters the journal, stop before a clearly final hand-in, departure, cure, feeding, or combat decision. Capture the quest text and create a separate manual save if the client permits. Continue blind from one slot and keep the other as an outcome checkpoint.

Do not turn the trophy title into a guessed solution. “Feed Me” may be a joke, a literal instruction, or neither. Only a visible objective, item response, or completed-client test can establish the action.

Peter’s Perfect Parry

This condition is precise enough to plan: perform a Perfect Guard against every one of the Nameless Captive’s headspins while using the Untarnished Seal. The unknown is the encounter structure. The list does not say how many headspins occur, whether a missed one can be retried within the fight, or whether the boss remains available after victory.

Equip the required Seal before entering, confirm its name in the loadout, and spend the first attempt identifying the headspin animation rather than rushing the kill. If a spin lands or is answered with the wrong defense, reset before defeating the boss when possible. The success proof is the platform popup, not a clean-looking parry animation.

Make one ledger before Marrow Keep

The 53 entries form nine workstreams. Keeping them in one undifferentiated list makes it hard to tell whether a missing unlock belongs to the story, the world map, a Shell, or a weapon family.

Workstream Count What to record
Platinum 1 No Lifer should follow the other PS5 trophies; never treat its name as a no-life challenge.
Story and first-use milestones 5 First Shell/weapon/sidearm, Festival, Marrow Keep, first Shell Memory, and campaign completion.
Named weapon or sidearm unlocks 13 Exact item name, acquisition region, and whether the platform popup fired.
Named Shell unlocks 8 Body location, claimed state, and Shellkeeper roster slot.
World and roster completion 9 Ova, songs, Tarstones, Beacons, map fragments, memories, all Shells, sidearms, and weapons.
Maximum progression 2 One Shell’s top bonding tier and one weapon’s final Tarforge level.
Boss defeats 10 Name, region, story/optional status, and defeated state.
Special conditions 4 Nameless Captive parries, Egon’s outcome, Tar Golem minimum, and the Mango secret.
Unexplained reward 1 Bag Holder; wait for an in-client clue before assigning a method.

The counts add to 53. On Xbox or Steam, remove the Platinum row and keep the other 52 conditions. Platform metadata confirms achievements are supported, but the current public Steam API does not expose a readable full-release achievement schema without the live platform context, so the pre-release names should be checked once the client unlocks.

Collect the roster, weapons, and sidearms as separate sets

Thirteen trophies name equipment directly: Axe and Dagger, Great Martyr’s Blade, Black Needle, Clockwork Scythe, Obsidian Hammer, Axatana, Veteran’s Battle Axe, Caged Hystrix, Triarch Repeater, Cursed Child, Ballistazooka, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, and Forgotten Crossbow. Their labels do not reliably reveal which inventory tab they occupy. Use the current UI category, not the noun in the trophy title, to decide whether an item advances Guns, Lots of Guns or Lord of War.

For every acquisition, make a three-part record:

  1. Capture the pickup or reward name before leaving the scene.
  2. Open Marrow Keep’s equipment screen and verify the item occupies a roster slot.
  3. Record both the named trophy popup and the all-items counter, if the interface exposes one.

A named unlock can succeed while the completion set remains short because another item has no individual trophy. The reverse can also happen if an item is temporarily usable but not permanently registered. Roster readback is therefore stronger than assuming that equipping something once means it has been collected.

The Shell list names Tiel, Lazlo, Eredrim, Sariel, Proxima, Smert, Gragu, and Sester Genessa. The first generic Shell acquisition belongs to You’re More Than a Weapon, while Shell Seeker checks the whole roster. Keep the eight named rows and the opening Shell row distinct until the game proves whether the first body is included in the total.

Pair each region with six cleanup counters

When a region’s main boss falls, do not immediately turn the area into “finished.” Close it against six world-level sets: Ova, lute tracks, Tarstones, Beacons, map fragments, and Shell Memories. The remaining completion trophies for all Shells, weapons, and sidearms pull from several regions and should sit above the regional ledger.

Use one line per map region with these fields:

  • Beacons cleansed: names and map icons, not an estimated count.
  • Map fragments found: the fragment name or the map sector visibly revealed.
  • Ova recovered: location, associated dungeon, and whether the hub accepts it.
  • Tarstones: exact inventory entry, including duplicates if the game tracks unique types rather than pickups.
  • Shell Memories watched: Shell name and memory title; acquisition alone may not equal viewing.
  • Lute tracks played: track title and proof of playback, not merely ownership.

So Fresh, So Clean, Sat Nav, Bring My Ova Back to Me, Stoned, Seeking the Past, and Heavy Metal are global conditions. Their descriptions do not disclose totals. Do not publish a number from an unfilled fan map. Use the current menus and platform tracker; if neither shows a count, a named ledger is the only dependable cleanup tool.

Max one Shell relationship and one weapon on purpose

Decked Out asks for the highest bonding tier with a Shell at the Shellkeeper. Over 9000 asks for a fully upgraded weapon at the Tarforge. Spreading early materials across every option may delay both conditions without improving your first cleanup pass.

Select one Shell you can reliably survive with and one weapon whose full moveset you have tested. Before each large spend, note the current tier, cost, and remaining material. Stop if the interface calls an upgrade temporary, beta-only, respec-able, or tied to a different system. A Shell ability node is not necessarily a bonding tier; a Tarstone socket is not necessarily a Tarforge level.

The goal is not to declare a best build. It is to create one known maximum while keeping enough materials to use required items such as the Untarnished Seal. If the final tier does not unlock the trophy, check for an unviewed bonding scene, confirmation action, or another tier shown elsewhere before investing in a second Shell.

Let the boss list reveal names, not tactics

The hidden set names ten defeated bosses. It establishes a completion checklist but not their order, phases, weaknesses, rewards, or mandatory status. The Open Beta confirms Magdalena as its endpoint; that does not prove she occupies the same progression role in the full open world.

Boss-name spoilers: show the ten exposed defeat trophies
Trophy Exposed target What remains unverified
Ultimate Karen Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods Launch order, phase rules, and reward.
Meat’s Back on the Menu, Boys! The Lost Child Region and mandatory status.
Headcase The Nameless Captive Whether the parry condition requires a separate attempt.
Nightmare Fuel Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince Location and fight structure.
Something in the deep… Hexapod Location and progression role.
Praise him! The Monolith Optional status and access path.
It burnssssssssss Droeg, the Conquerer Spelling in the live client and encounter order.
Giga Chad Malborn Offspring Region and defeat trigger.
Lost Your Head Orrem, the Reclaimed Quest gate and cleanup availability.
It’s over now? Zmey, the Unbidden Whether this is the final required boss.

After each fight, mark the defeat trophy separately from region completion. If no popup appears, first verify that the boss reached its defeat state rather than a scripted escape or phase transition. Then check platform connectivity and the current trophy description. Do not repeat an entire route based only on a fan page’s claimed weakness.

Treat unusual trophies as client-side experiments

Four names resist a normal checklist: Mid Summer? for entering the Festival, Bag Holder for “mastering nothing,” Ascension for discovering the Mango secret, and Sester for unlocking Sester Genessa. The first and fourth sound like progression, while the middle two provide too little operational detail.

For Festival and Sester Genessa, watch the journal and roster at the moment the state changes. For Mango, preserve any unusual item, environmental prompt, or dialogue that uses the word; do not sell, consume, or discard it until its function is known. For Bag Holder, resist the temptation to leave every upgrade at zero merely because the description jokes about mastering nothing. There is no current evidence that a no-upgrade run is required.

A good experiment changes one variable. If an action appears relevant, capture the before state, perform it once, and inspect the platform tracker. If nothing changes, restore the checkpoint where practical and try the next evidence-based action. Randomly combining items, emotes, and locations produces anecdotes, not a reproducible solution.

Close a region with a three-screen audit

Before leaving a major area, capture three screens: the world map with cleansed Beacons and revealed fragments, the equipment roster with new Shells/weapons/sidearms, and the platform trophy tracker. Add the region name and current patch to the filenames. This gives you a recoverable state even when the game has no numeric collectible menu.

At Marrow Keep, reconcile those screenshots against the Shellkeeper and Tarforge. A missing map fragment sends you back to exploration; a missing equipment slot sends you back to the acquisition scene or reward NPC; a registered slot without a trophy points to platform or trigger verification. One screenshot cannot answer all three.

Keep the following exposed first-use and story trophies in sequence: You’re More Than a Weapon, Mid Summer?, Home at Last, Haunting Times, and This is Not an Achievement. If a later story trophy appears while an earlier one is absent, stop and investigate before assuming endgame cleanup will replay the scene.

What this list cannot yet promise

The pre-release list does not establish the Platinum’s difficulty, expected hours, minimum playthroughs, free-roam after the ending, New Game Plus behavior, chapter select, boss rematches, collectible totals, or whether every outcome can coexist on one save. It also does not prove that current beta positions or counters survive the launch patch.

Assist and challenge items deserve special caution. The beta warns that at least one Seal changes achievement availability, but the full client’s exact wording and save-level effect must be read at launch. Before equipping anything presented as an easier or harder mode, capture the warning. If it says achievements are disabled for the save, use a separate run rather than testing it on the completion file.

The first reliable roadmap should be built from actual unlocks: which trophies pop through normal progress, which global counters remain incomplete at the last region, whether the ending preserves exploration, and whether the three narrow checkpoints can be retried. Until those questions have current-client answers, a two-playthrough guarantee or “nothing missable” label would be fiction.

Game identity, platform support, release timing, official screenshots, and product scope were verified through the Mortal Shell II Steam page, the official site, and current PlayStation and Xbox listings. The pre-release trophy names and descriptions were checked against a readable trophy-list report; the live platform list and launch client should replace it if any name, count, or condition changes.
