To reach the first ending of Minecraft Dungeons II, finish the yellow main quests from Squid Coast through the Rainy Plains, Frozen Highlands, and the Sift. The route ends with Supreme Evoker and Monstrous Opus in The Final Souldown. Blue side quests can appear in the same places, but you can return to those after the story.
Follow the yellow quest, even when a side quest takes you somewhere familiar
Check both the quest name and its next objective before leaving a region. A yellow diamond marks the story quest; a blue diamond marks a side quest. Several blue jobs send you back to a tower, cave, or boss arena already used by the story. Finishing one does not advance the yellow quest you left behind.
Use the world map to travel to the named region, then follow the current objective within it. A counter such as 0/4 villagers or 1/2 bridge activations tells you which local step is still open. When a boss dies, wait for the quest text to change: a return trip, conversation, or interaction can remain. If the next chapter below has not appeared, reopen the quest screen and resume the last yellow objective.

Escape Squid Coast and deal with the rift
Escape from Squid Coast begins with a trip back to camp. Kill the five monsters on the route, investigate the camp, and defeat the three illagers that follow. Speak to the villager, then rescue four villagers before going to the gate. The count must reach 4/4; simply reaching the gate leaves the rescue unfinished. Meet the villagers there, open the gate, clear the docks, and survive the ambush to close the opening quest.
The next yellow quest, The Illagers from the Rift, moves from the town gate to Honeycomb Farm. Clear the illagers, speak with the Farmer, and inspect the fields. Defeat the corrupted monsters there, return to the Farmer, and deal with the next illager group. Enter the rift when the objective changes, pursue the illagers inside its new dimension, defeat them, and return to the Overworld. If the objective still names the Farmer or the fields, going straight to the rift skips the conversation or fight that unlocks the next instruction.
Rescue the Lost Merchant before entering Howling Woods
The Lost Merchant is part of the main route. Speak to the villager by the bridge, find the Merchant, and free him. After speaking to him, recover his four stolen supplies around Honeycomb Farm. Watch the counter rise from 0/4 to 4/4, then meet him again. The quest next sends you to Brave Haven. Look for the Merchant’s green-awning stall beside the broad stone steps, speak to him there, and collect the newly crafted bridge lever. Return to the bridge and use that lever to reach Howling Woods.
The Creeper Candle Conspiracy and Keeper of the Bees can appear while The Lost Merchant remains open. Those blue side quests are separate errands. If the bridge remains closed, check for the Merchant’s stall and lever in Brave Haven rather than clearing more fights in the farm.
The Silence in Little Howl starts after the crossing. Reach the hamlet, defeat its illagers, and enter the rift. Pursue the group inside, defeat the rabid sifters, and check on the creature when the objective asks. Return to the Overworld to complete the chapter. Do not leave at the first combat lull if the yellow text still asks you to check on the creature.
Collect all three Enchantsmith books and defeat the Witch
In Training with the Enchantsmith, the books appear as successive yellow objectives. Search for and collect the Book of Healing Smite, then the Book of Piercing. Follow the Ancient Alchemy marker into the wishing well dungeon. The first lectern there is empty: approaching it starts an ambush, but it does not give you the third book. Clear that fight and follow the new instruction back to the Enchantsmith. Hand over the books you already found. He then sends you into the dungeon again to find the actual Book of Ancient Alchemy. This second trip ends with a collection prompt and another ambush. Take the book, clear the attackers, and return to the Enchantsmith once more. If your quest still says to return, searching deeper in the dungeon will not advance it. Treat a random gear pickup as loot, not as proof that the book objective is finished.
The Enchantsmith’s books are also a useful reminder to review your actual equipment. Armor occupies separate pieces, so a new item in the inventory helps only after you equip it. If a fight becomes difficult, inspect the armor pieces and enchantments you are using before retrying. The story requirement here is the three book objectives and the return conversation, regardless of which equipment you prefer.
Corruption in the Woods sends you back through Little Howl and deeper into Howling Woods. Locate the Deep Dark caves and search for the missing foragers. In the red-lit, webbed cave room, free them before heading for the exit. The trail then leads to the Witch’s hut. Defeat the Witch, but wait for the forager and complete the conversation that follows the fight. A later quest called The Witch Revived appears with a blue icon and revisits the fight. It is a side replay, so it is not a second Witch kill required to enter the Deep Dark chapter.
Cross the Deep Dark, then bring the Blacksmith to the outpost
Down into the Deep Dark first asks you to enter and traverse the caves. Fight past the illager defenses and continue the search through the amethyst geode. The chapter has two named Warden fights in the recorded route. Defeat the Warden, follow the new instruction farther into the caves, and then defeat the Twisted Warden. Rescue the Echo Golem after that second fight. If the next quest has not appeared, check whether the objective still asks for the Golem rather than assuming the second boss was the final interaction.
The blue Cleric’s Apprentice quest can send you on a cave detour. Keep the yellow Deep Dark objective pinned to continue the story. If a loot branch takes you away from it, return to the last marked junction.
The Missing Note Blocks begins back in Brave Haven. Catch up with the Blacksmith, recover the two stolen axes, and hand them to the woodcutters. Lead the Blacksmith to Woodcutter’s Outpost and locate the Blacksmith’s stall there. These axe and woodcutter steps are yellow main objectives, even though they look like local errands. If Wading Rainy Plains does not start, inspect the Missing Note Blocks objective for an unreturned axe or the unfinished escort to the outpost.

Work through the Rainy Plains towers in order
Wading Rainy Plains starts at Woodcutter’s Outpost. Travel across the plains to Puddle Pond Village and speak to the Inventor. The quest then takes you through a sequence of towers and bridges. In the White Tower, climb through the stone interior and enter the bright yellow doorway at the top. It leads to a square chamber with a cyan-rune pedestal in the center and barred cages along one wall. Interact with the pedestal. The yellow objective changes from finding the White Tower’s ichor core to finding the bridge to the Orange Tower.
Cross that bridge and work up through the Orange Tower. Its core chamber has the same square floor and central glowing pedestal. Interact with it, then follow the new bridge objective toward the Red Tower. In the Red Tower, climb to its matching chamber and use the central pedestal again. The next objective names the bridge to the Supreme Evoker’s Tower.
Follow the tower bridge to pursue the Evoker. This chapter culminates in a Copper Monstrosity fight. When a yellow ring marks the floor around it, move beyond the ring before the electric columns strike, then return to attack after the effect clears. Defeat it and return to Puddle Pond Village to close Wading Rainy Plains. If you are standing in a core chamber but the bridge objective has not appeared, walk up to the runed pedestal and use its interaction prompt. After the boss, go back to Puddle Pond instead of searching the tower rooms for a Note Block.
Search the Frozen Highlands shipwrecks, huts, and fortress
When Hiking Frozen Highlands becomes the yellow quest, speak to the villager in that region. First find the big shipwreck and gather the requested materials. The objective then sends you to a small shipwreck for more materials. Meet the villager again, and continue to the fishing huts. Search both huts: the on-screen count starts at 0/2 and does not clear until both have been inspected. The wrecks come before the huts in this story route, so going straight to the fortress can leave earlier material steps open.
After the huts, meet the survivors at the fortress. The main wooden doors are above the broad steps in their courtyard. Once Look for the hidden entrance appears, leave those steps and follow the snowy path beside the outer fortress wall to the warm-lit opening in its side. Go through it to enter Frozen Fortress. When Activate the bridge 0/2 appears, cross the long lamp-lined stone span and climb the short steps at its end. Step onto the small glowing floor plate on the upper landing. The counter changes to 1/2. Continue across the next short platform and up another set of steps toward the purple-lit fortress window. A second glowing plate on a low pedestal completes 2/2. An ambush can trigger at that second plate; clear it and wait for Cross the bridge before retracing the short path to the opened crossing.
On the far side, defeat the Prime Enchanter. Watch for the separated platforms and marked hazards rather than chasing it across a gap while a floor effect is active. The chapter continues after the boss. Search the fortress for the Note Block and collect it when the yellow objective asks. Only then find the entrance and open the fortress doors. Returning the Note Blocks sends you back to Brave Haven. A blue quest named The Prime Enchanter Revived can offer another fight later; it is not required for this main-story handoff.
Return the Note Blocks and enter the Sift
Back in Brave Haven, speak with the Cartographer while Returning the Note Blocks is tracked. Follow the route out of town, across the wooden bridge and along the river to the warm-lit cave opening in the cliff. Enter the Deep Dark tunnel. Inside, the objective changes to Return to the ancient portal. Follow the stone path to the row of colored Note Blocks and green-lit Echo Golems. When the objective becomes Activate the portal, speak to the marked Golem beside the blocks. The Note Block machine starts the transition into the Sift. Reaching the tunnel alone does not complete this handoff.
If your quest screen already says Reach the Deep Dark tunnel, head there directly. The blue side trips through Frozen Highlands do not supply a separate main-quest item needed for the portal.
Restore the Lost Harmonies before leaving Singer’s Meadow
Lost Harmonies begins with four silenced Echo Golems. They appear as low teal shells against the bright meadow, rather than standing figures you can spot from a distance. Search around the blue flame, under the canopy and beside the patterned stone blocks as the route branches; approach each shell and use its interaction prompt. Watch the yellow counter after each rescue. If it remains at 2/4 or 3/4, retrace an unvisited branch rather than leaving the region. The footage establishes the objects and the four required interactions but does not establish a reliable fixed left-to-right order for all four.
Next, find the stolen soul blocks. Follow the updated marker back toward Singer’s Meadow and hand them over when the objective changes. Defend the Singer through the assault, then check on the Singer. The final conversation closes the quest. If the defense seems finished but the next chapter does not appear, look for the Check on the Singer instruction before leaving.
Remove three banners and defeat the Sculk Monstrosity
A Monstrosity in the Meadow begins at the musical gate and sends you toward the pass into Humbler Huskland. Follow the pass, then take down three red illager banners fixed to dark guardposts. One stands beside a stone wall, as shown below; look for the red cloth rather than treating every red enemy marker as a banner. The count progresses from 0/3 to 3/3. The blue Wobble Run and Rage of the Sifters jobs can be left for later; neither opens the illager gate.
When all three banners are down, return to the illager gate and fight the Sculk Monstrosity. If the gate still points you back into the region, check the banner counter. One missing banner keeps the chapter from advancing even if you have reached the boss area. In the fight, move out of the red floor lane before it fires, then close in when that lane clears. The persistent Soul Corrupted Harmonizer bar belongs to the wider event; the Sculk Monstrosity has its own named boss bar. Once the Monstrosity falls, the next yellow quest is Wrath of the Sculkers.

Free the tuners and finish Wrath of the Sculkers
At the start of Wrath of the Sculkers, bring the tuners to the gate and enter the Echo Den. Find and free three captured tuners. They are behind bars on pale stone steps and ledges along separate marked branches. Clear the enemies around each cage, approach its bars and use the interaction prompt. The rescue counter begins at 0/3; continue until it reaches 3/3, then pass the musical gate. If the gate has not opened, return for the remaining captive rather than searching for an unrelated key.

Beyond the gate, find the passage to Lullaby Hills, speak with the Echo Golem, and clear the ambush. The Monarch appears as the next named boss. Keep clear of its burning patches while the Echo event bar remains on screen; the named Monarch health bar is the one that must empty here. Defeat it, then follow the objectives that remain: find the ichor cores, place both in the runed devices flanking the dark doorway, locate the Golem’s friend, and return to the Echo Golem. The core task shows 0/2 before placement. If it has not changed after you reach the doorway, walk up to each device and use the interaction prompt. The Monarch’s defeat does not itself complete Wrath of the Sculkers.

If The Final Souldown has not appeared after the Monarch, check the yellow objective in this order: core collection, 2/2 placements, Golem’s friend, return conversation. These later steps are easy to miss if you leave the boss arena as soon as the health bar disappears.
The yellow The Final Souldown quest appears after that return. Nearby blue side quests include A Dip in Ichor Springs and Breaking Camps. You can leave their Ichor Ponds, Sculker Springs, and camp tasks for later if you want the first ending now. Track The Final Souldown instead of following a side quest reward screen.
Escort the Echo Golem and cross the chasm
The Final Souldown begins with a search for the Echo Golems. Investigate the marked area, find three tuners, and use the musical gate. Catch up with the Echo Golem and lead it toward Lullaby Hilltop. Defeat the illagers that block the escort, then check on the scared Golem when the objective changes. Speak with the Golem and accept the soul block before looking for the way into the stronghold.
The approach to the chasm includes a gate and a Redstone Monstrosity fight. Open the gate and defeat that boss. Its orange rune circle is a clear warning to move before the marked area erupts; step away, then attack when the floor settles. Return to the Cross the chasm objective. A glowing square platform carries the player over the gap. Step onto the platform and ride it toward the marked landing. The visible platform is your crossing route; running along the edge of the chasm does not complete this step.

On the far side, storm the stronghold. Fight through the courtyard, climb the ramparts, clear the ambush there, and cross the next marked gap to reach the portal. At the portal, the quest first asks you to stand your ground. Defeat the attackers outside it and wait for the objective to change to entering it. If your objective still names the ramparts, there are more enemies or a crossing to finish before this portal defense. The blue Breaking Camps and A Dip in Ichor Springs errands do not unlock the main-story chasm crossing.
Reach the experiment, then defeat Supreme Evoker and Monstrous Opus
Enter the portal after the outside ambush is clear. Follow the ichor pipes and investigate the experiment. The first final-arena boss is the Supreme Evoker. Its pale sweep covers a broad part of the floor; move across a clear lane before attacking again. Defeat it and wait for the yellow objective to change to Defeat the Monstrous Opus. The Opus occupies a square arena with broad marked attacks and smaller threats. Its bright cyan beams cut across the floor in straight lanes. Stay on an unlit tile while the beams pass, and leave burning patches before trying to attack through them. The visible named boss objective, rather than the first Evoker defeat or the persistent Echo event bar, tells you when the last fight has begun.

After the Opus falls, the story cinematic restores the colored Note Blocks and returns you to the world. A What’s Next? screen then introduces activities such as Soul Storms, rifts, and further exploration. That is the first campaign-ending checkpoint. It is possible to reach it without completing every blue quest or collecting every item.
What remains after the first ending
After the first ending, A Friend Till the End asks for a soul block, the destruction of three illager machines, and a return to the Echo Golem. Lonesome in Lullaby Hills sends you back to the stronghold for four stolen soul blocks. Both are blue side quests. Soul Storms also become available.
The Final Souldown Encore is a blue postgame replay. It brings back Supreme Evoker and then Monstrous Opus. You do not need the Encore to see the first story ending. For a story completion run, stop at the first ending. For a cleanup run, use the postgame map’s item counts and the remaining blue objectives to choose what to revisit.
